Le Garrick - Covent Garden Ratings and Reviews
Wont go back
The restaurant staff were welcoming and helpful but the food let it down. 3 out of 7 of us had st Jacques for starter but was way too bland, no flavour. The beuf bourguignon was lovely. We knew the French aren't big on vegetarian but 2 of us were vegetarian eaters, the selection was so poor, 2 options in this day and age is bad service. Waiter was lovely.
I went for dinner with some friends, was really surprised with the place... We been seated downstairs and it had all this romantic atmosphere in a vaulted restaurant... The service was great, very attentive but the food was great.... Definitely will go back...

Lovely little restaurant in an area beset by 'chains'. Staff very pleasant as ever
French Country Cuisine
Booked the Le Garrick as it was in a great location for the theatres and the menu looked to be something different. We went pre theatre and the service was fantastic, so it took the worry out of about late for the performance. It was the weekend of the Paris troubles, but the staff were still helpful and smiling. The food was good and wholesome, typically country or bistro cuisine and pretty good value for money. Our seats were upstairs, so it could be a bit drafty near the door, but the food soon warmed us up.
We had a very nice pre-theatre meal here. The food was lovely and the atmosphere in the restaurant was very warm and inviting. The service was also very prompt, which was appreciated as we were going to the theatre at 7.30pm and so had less than an hour to eat, having come straight from work as it was a mid-week show. I would also say that the pre-theatre menu is one of the best value of its kind in Covent Garden/West End. I would highly recommend.

Charming staff make up for the restaurant, upstairs at least, being slightly cramped! Food delicious as ever.
Le Garrick is fab!
Always amazing food and service here. Great atmosphere too. My favourite place in London to eat steak!
Big risk, big reward
I took two quite particular french colleagues to a french restaurant in London. Recipe for disaster ? Quite the reverse, we absolutely loved the place, ambiance, food, service. They got the homemade cooking flavours and food. I am sure they will be visiting again with their own colleagues.
We came for a birthday celebration on Saturday before going to the theatre. The whole place felt welcoming and interesting, and the staff were great. The food was very tasty - highlights were the veal blanquette, the bouef bourguignon, and the onion soup. We were too full for dessert - but we were still treated to liqueurs and a French delicacy for Ben's 40th birthday. When we are next in town, this will certainly be a place we will consider coming to again. Thank you for helping make this a special day
Good resturant for an evening meal
Had dinner with a friend here on Friday. The atmosphere was good and the waitress was very friendly. Definitely enjoyed the time dining there. The food was in good standards but had better French before. All in all the whole experience was nice.

Very friendly waitress, all 6 people enjoyed the food and was good value for central London.
Had looked forward to dining here as have passed by many times and it is a great location. We got sat downstairs, which is nice, if a little cramped (Parisian basement style). Service was oddly mixed : we were asked almost immediately if we were ready to order (we hadn't had a chance even to look at the menu properly yet) but were then left alone for long periods. Every other table got bread - we didn't get any, which seemed a bit unfair, and not very French, and our (tap) water ran out and wasn't topped up. I wasn't asked if I wanted another glass of wine when my food arrived and my glass was empty (I did, but then lost interest at that point). The meal wasn't cheap and so all in, I'd say not great, but not too bad. I think the waitress was training so perhaps we just got a rum deal. Better value if you have the pre-theatre menu.
Cold food with a smile!
Steak and chips luke warm on cold plates for all 3 of us. Told waitress and manager on duty who told us that this was because of a small kitchen and bad habits by kitchen staff. Nothing they could do, that was the way it was there! Did offer complimentary desserts but we had to get away for theatre anyway. Pity as food pretty good and nice friendly welcome & atmosphere. Not cheap either. We eat out regularly in West End. Never here again!!

A lovely little gem in the centre of London. I have been meaning to try Le Garrick for years mainly because of what the place 'looks' like from outside and the ambience inside that you get a peek from through the windows. On both of these it did not disappoint! The place is authentic, romantic and surprisingly quiet. The staff were lovely and friendly. The food unfortunately was average and their was a lack of 'attention to detail' in the preparation, presentation and service.
`nice Pre theatre supper..'
We went to Le garrick for supper bdfore a show. Good central location. Lovely ambiance, and friendly, charming staff. Menu simple, with basically two choices for each course - pate herby and yummy, steak, tender and perfectly cooked (loved the fries) and lemon tart..soooo lemony!! WEll balanced service, so we were out in good time, and felt not too full..but very satisfied..would recommend...
So good we came back!
A true find amongst the 'chain' and fast food options local to this area. Fabulous French food, staff who are French but friendly, love food and enjoy their work! Will be taking my husband as he lived in France for 8 years and loves real French food.
Great place for an informal lunch
Informal, charming, very good food (I loved the Onion Soup) and really good value. Well worth a visit and would definitely eat there again.
Comme a la maison! (like home - when your French)
Excellente adresse, un repas comme chez soi, avec la sourire en plus. This is a hidden pearl, a meal as you would get it in a good brasserie in France, with a friendly and attentionate service.
Good and unpretentious
Good place for a quick supper before or after going to the theatre
Great little Covent Garden wine bar
Unfortunately we were seated upstairs so missed the atmosphere of the downstairs bar/restaurant & there is a real problem with smokers constantly leaving the door open. Other than that we were very happy with our meal; we all ordered from the pre-theatre menu which is excellent value although limited choice. The bill for 3 of us for a 3-course meal, coffees & a very acceptable bottle of wine was £75 - a bargain for Covent Garden.
Another great visit to Le Garrick
I always go to Le Garrick for a post-theatre dinner whenever I'm in London. Le Garrick has never let me down. Rustic French cooking at its best. I love it.
Great Customer Service
We received great customer service from Le Garrick at the weekend. We had a problem with one of our meals, (which I won't divulge as don't feel it's representative of the quality of food normally delivered from the restaurant), this was dealt with promptly and in a serious manner by our manager. We did not even need to ask to see a manager, she said she would get him to come over to speak to us. The manager was very very apologetic and asked us if we would like some desserts free of charge; the meal had been so great that we were full up and so declined the offer, he instead took the cost of the dish we had an issue with off our bill. I will continue to go back to the restaurant as absolutely love the food and service.
Meal a la Francaise !
Very cosy décor downstairs with great atmosphere and a real French feeling with food and staff without traveling abroad !
Lovely atmosphere, great service
I dined at Le Garrick last Friday with 3 more friends. The service was very good with attentive, friendly staff. I loved the duck confit, however my side order of mashed potato was not very enjoyable as it was rather tasteless. My pate starter and chocolate fondant dessert were to die for! Overall, a very warm atmosphere and good value for money food.
Lovely restaurant for a pre-theatre meal
We went to Le Garrick for a pre-theatre meal. The food came out quickly and was delicious. We were seated downstairs. The atmosphere was great and the staff were friendly. They did forget about us when we were waiting to pay the bill, but other than that the service was good. Would definitely recommend.
Food wise, I've eaten better - it's okay but not exceptional. Service is low-key, tables are tiny and very closely packed together.
Lovely staff, very friendly, we had a nice window table. Only fault with the food was the ratatouille was lukewarm and looked a little tired Nice menu with lots of choice
Best Steak I've had in a very long time! Waiter was delightful and very attentive. We had a red wine which wasn't very nice and he changed it immediately with no trouble at all. I've always loved the ambience in there with the cave feeling and it never fails to deliver!
French ambience in an English City
Le Garrick brought Paris to London with their setting, food and staff. We were looking for a restaurant that provided a French experience, and Le Garrick certainly delivered. Will visit the place again if I need to host another French evening. Merci
Le Garrick, typically French
We ate before going on to the theatre and were very happy with our choice of restsurant. The pre theatre menu was good value and mains of on onglet steak or moules were fine. The lemon tart was outstanding. Service was very attentive with staff being aware we were on a time restraint. Great start to the evening.
A Little Treasure
Lunched here last week and found the venue to be charming and good value for money. The food was very good and myself and my two guests would dine at Le Garrick again. Very Cosy and the service is not intrusive.
Good food, great service, and hospitality.
Fully recommended for that special occasion, or pre / post theatre 🎦
The atmosphere was very nice and homely!...
The atmosphere was very nice and homely!!
Lovely birthday celebration evening
Le Garrick was a great venue for a birthday celebration for my mother last week. The food was lovely and the whole group enjoyed our meals. The service was quite slow which was a shame. They did make a fuss of the birthday though which was nice.
Had a main course and desert, g=both enjoyable
Attentive staff and food arrived quickly and was hot - very handy for pre-theatre, enjoyable experience.
Nice place for a dinner
Nice place with friendly stuff. Food was served quickly.
Great ambience but average food
Booked for boyfriend's birthday meal for 8. We were placed in an alcove which was lovely. The ambience was good. Service was reasonable but the food orders were quite slow. For starters and mains, our group had mixed reviews. The steaks were not bad but the risotto did not taste right and was sent back, that was dealt with very well. I was expecting better food based on reviews but I'd rate it average. They did a lovely birthday celebration for us which was a lovely touch.
Very nice evening out
Lovely wait staff, very tasty staff, and really reasonable prices considering the location etc. Would definitely go again.
opportunity to explore a famous name
our train brokke down and the restaurant were very accomodating in revising our slot time. Service was friendly and efficient; food was exactly what it said it would be and well cooked. It was a lot smaller upstairs than i had thought but downstairs roomier and quirky layout better suited for dinner. Not blown away but a good experience and would return
