La TrompetteSunday lunchThis restaurant is in a quiet side street of the Chiswick High Road in W4.
Good food, beautifully presented and very attentive service.
Neutrally decorated, tables not too closely together.
Will return!!09/06/2013 00:00:00Superb 45th Annerversary lunchThe meal was sublime and the overall experience superb. I would not hesitate to recommend La Trompette.
The access for a disabled person is very good with ground floor toilet .
Very Happy with everything!!!!!!07/06/2013 00:00:00Very nice and innovativeMy boyfriend and I went there on Thursday night. And we were really happy about the whole evening: great food, lovely staff. We enjoyed it a lot. It is worth the Michelin star. One thing maybe missing is little "mise en bouche" (=little appetizer) by the Chef.06/06/2013 00:00:00WonderfulThe food was magnificent and the service absolutely charming. Thoroughly enjoyable evening04/06/2013 00:00:00Yummy but not as yummy as beforeWe love La Trompette and used to visit frequently when we lived down the road. The food has always been amazing and the service is fantastic. We wanted to try La Trompette again after it's recent refurbishment. As ever the service was impeccable. Good wine advice from the sommelier. However we were slightly disappointed with the food this time round. Everything was very tasty however just not the mind-blowing quality it has been before. My boyfriend's beef dish was slightly dry and my courgette flower starter was lacking in flavour. However the desserts were very tasty.
We still had a lovely evening and will go back again in a few months.31/05/2013 00:00:00I definitely recommend thisI definitely recommend this restaurant. Great value for three courses at £27.50 for lunch, the same as The Glasshouse, but much better in my opinion.
Passion fruit souffle was heavenly. Great presentation, and taste to match.
The staff were really nice and genuinely friendly. We will definitely be back.30/05/2013 00:00:00The food was lovely althoughThe food was lovely although the service could be improved. It took a while for the courses to come through, especially the first course. The sommelier, while helpful did not ask what food we were eating to ensure the best match with the wine. The restaurant need to make sure that staff pick up plates correctly etc.26/05/2013 00:00:00Luckily this is my "local"....Luckily this is my "local".... superb food with excellent service and helpful guidance through an extensive selection of wines by the bottle or glass. They now are even offering a separate vegetarian menu which works so well for my wife. She had time to peruse and decide on what she would like to eat rather than wait in hope that what the chef "put together" my suit her tastes.... A first class venue for dinner and not to be missed at lunchtime.21/05/2013 00:00:00The food at La Trompette isThe food at La Trompette is excellent. Their 3 course £45 dinner menu is excellent value for money, especially compared with other Michelin restaurants. Good service too.20/05/2013 00:00:00Excellent Sunday lunchWe have visited the site now occupied by La Trompette for over 30 years - previously La Dordogne of sacred memory.
We went to La Trompette when it first opened and found the service and atmosphere stiff and starchy. In it's new guise and especially with the new extension, it was extremely pleasant and friendly. We are not regulars - this was our fourth visit in two years.
No pressure for bottled water - tap water was immediately offered with constant refills. Excellent food and helpful somellier, who advised good but not madly expensive wines. A wait (as advised) for the passionfruit soffle was well worth it.
We went with relatives who have eaten at such places as El Bulli and The French Kitchen and they rated La Trompette highly.19/05/2013 00:00:00Birthday mealFour of us had a very enjoyable meal on Tuesday evening in the newly refurbished La Trompette. Carb stuffed courgette flowers were the highlight, but the suckling pig was exceptionally tender. Our deserts were delicious but a little on the large side. Very reasonable wine suggestion was extremely good. Same lovely staff.14/05/2013 00:00:00Supreme dining!Quite easily described as an unforgettable dining experience. Not being a too experienced foody but this ranks high. Service very good as expected and the recommendation made by staff were spot on.12/05/2013 00:00:00A foodie paradiseWe were a family party of 6 ranging from 26-86 years old. The menu provided excellent choice and it was difficult to choose between so many wonderful sounding dishes. The food itself did not disappoint - it was truly excellent and inventive. The veal tartare and banana souffle with honeycomb ice cream were of particular note. Service was excellent and the sommelier's advice was sound. Highly recommended. We will certainly go again soon.08/05/2013 00:00:00Normally excellent, althoughNormally excellent, although service a bit more hit and miss than normal. We weren't sure if it was the extra covers in the enlarged restaurant which was the issue or just an unlucky day as normally it's very good. Food was still excellent05/05/2013 00:00:00Lovely experieneVery quick and attentive service, wonderful food, very helpful staff including lots of knowledge on wine and cheese options. Bright room, but a little lacking in character - no music and quiet when we were there made it a little odd.04/05/2013 00:00:00First visit!superb food at reasonable prices, but the significant thing was the highest level of service - attentive and professional, but not intrusive.03/05/2013 00:00:00Excellent serviceThe food was incredible and the service is the best I have experienced. It was my girlfriends 21st birthday and they gave her an extra dessert! Top restaurant!!01/05/2013 00:00:00Another visit to La TrompetteYet another enjoyable eating experience at La Trompette. The food, although at the expensive end of eating out, doesn't fail to please. Unusual dishes, and service of a very high standard, ensure that our visits to the restaurant will continue.01/05/2013 00:00:00Good food, lacked consistency3 people for lunch, all of the food was well produced and service was professional.29/04/2013 00:00:00As expected, excellent food.As expected, excellent food. Looks like early glitches of reopening have been sorted.26/04/2013 00:00:00Good food, excellent serviceI was a little put off La Trompette by reading some reviews that criticised the service and the slightly off putting way they put a time limit on tables at busy periods. This was componded when I arrived five minutes early for my 1830 table and found the staff still in a briefing which I sat awkwardly in the middle of. However, the staff couldn't have been more welcoming or attentive, practically sprinting to the table as soon as they felt we needed something. The somelieres were knowledgable and patient and the staff to table ratio very high.
The food was not quite as mouthwatering as other resteraunts in the same price bracket, but better than most and cheaper than many. All in all a very good dining experience26/04/2013 00:00:00FabulousLa Trompette's recent refurbishment is great. The restaurant has more room between tables which creates a really nice ambience. The food is exquiste and is first class. All the waiting staff are very customer focused and friendly.25/04/2013 00:00:00As good as everHad a lovely mid week lunch at La Trompette
The restaurant feels much more spacious than previously; the unit next door has been added to provide extra room; there is also a sliding glass door which can divide part of the new space to create a smaller private dining area at the front
of the new unit
Decor throughout is more minimal than previously, generally neutral colours though with a rather surprising neon yellow on the Reception desk; the food was right back to La Trompette's previously excellent standards and the service was spot on, with a very extensive wine list; all in all I couldn't fault our visit; delighted to welcome back a Chiswick favourite24/04/2013 00:00:00Very good choiceExcellent restaurant, with attentive and polite service. Food was of an outstanding quality, and reasonably priced for what is offered. Good selection of starters, mains and desserts. The dessert I had - earl grey cream with bergamot doughnut - was simply delicious, I can still taste it! Likewise, starter and mains were imaginative, sensitive and memorable.23/04/2013 00:00:00Never lets you down.La trompette never lets you down. I eat in a lot of London's top restuarants, but none is as consistently excellent as La trompette. Everything on the menu is outstanding and the service is spot on. The wine list is a rarity - really interesting wines and fair pricing.19/04/2013 00:00:00This restaurant has neverThis restaurant has never disappointed, excellent food, amazing service. A hit every time.19/04/2013 00:00:00Fantastic eveningI took my husband to La Trompette last Friday to celebrate his 40th Birthday. It was our first visit although we have been to Chez Bruce in Wandsworth Common a few times before. The food was simply amazing especially the rib of beef and banana souffle and the staff so lovely. We enjoyed every course and will definitely be back in the future.19/04/2013 00:00:00First-rate relaxed and long lunchExcellent service, classy surroundings, very good value for money.15/04/2013 00:00:00Wonderful lunch with an oldWonderful lunch with an old friend. Excellent food, excellent service, excellent value. We chatted and chatted and were still there nearing 5 and never felt uncomfortable.10/04/2013 00:00:00A real treatTook my fiancée for his 30th - the food was lovely and was the perfect place for a special occasion.10/04/2013 00:00:00wonderful food, serviceThis was recommended to me at the beginning of the year, when a chef friend let me know of the changes to the Head Chef to come. Great value for money, the staff were attentive and it is very clear they are looking to impress (I could see many similarities to my visits at the Square). The little things, like chatting to you at the end of the meal, ensuring at all times wine glasses, water glasses and bread is there for you. I loved the flavours in the food and for less than 50 each (including a bottle of wine) you cannot find better. This is a diamond of a restuarant in the suburbs! I will be sure to come back and tell all of my friends it is worth visiting.09/04/2013 00:00:00Lovely to be backThis restaurant is so popular that even before the refurb, I tried several times to get a booking and failed. No wonder. This is a great place with excellent food and wonderful, charming staff. We were made to feel very welcomed although our table was not ready (21.15 booking so no surprise). A glass of champagne was offered and gratefully received. Getting us a table only took a few minutes. Lovely food, as usual, and relaxed, attentive but not over-bearing service. Perfect.
One small niggle - the bar area could be improved but I am sure that it's coming soon.06/04/2013 00:00:00Saturday night at la taro petiteFantastic meal was had by all on Saturday evening. The refurb is very elegant. The food delicious, especially the crab raviolini ( had to pay a supplement, which I usually resent but in this case was worth it). The staff were excellent.06/04/2013 00:00:00Well worth a visitI had heard mixed reviews on this and so was a little hesitant as I was taking some very important clients. The revamp has been brilliant and I was so glad I had chosen this as a venue.
The staff-although a little overly attentive sometimes were charming and professional and you felt very at ease and well looked after.
The food was very good especially the deserts-I would go back for the Rhubarb Souffle on its own.04/04/2013 00:00:00WonderfulLa Trompette hasn't lost any of its magnificence following the refurbishment. In fact, it's even better, if that were possible.
It never fails to deliver on a special occasion. Highly recommended.03/04/2013 00:00:00Great experience at a priceThe price for 3 courses continues to climb (£45 now without supplements) and there is an ever increasing number of options that attract the supplement which mean't we ended up spending £80 a head.
This could have been so much worse if it wasn't for the great (as usual) sommelier who suggested an unusual Aussie red at £35 a bottle.
A great experience but a little on the pricey side for anything other than a special occasion which is a real shame.01/04/2013 00:00:00ExcellantWonderful tastes and flawless presentation
Will be rushing back there31/03/2013 00:00:00Excellent meal. Food was tastyExcellent meal. Food was tasty and beautifully presented. My partner had the potato risotto with eel which was unusual and he really enjoyed it. The beef and the lamb were really tender. The rhubarb souffle and icecream was the pièce de résistance - magnificent! Staff were just right - not invasive but polite, friendly and helpful. We went for Sunday lunch which we felt was excellent value for money.31/03/2013 00:00:00What no cheese?Have been a regular diner at Trompette for a number of years and was keen to go back post refurb. Its a nice room, larger than before and lighter. Possibly missing a bit of its old ambiance and intimacy though. However the food was excellent; you can tell the chef is different but the food is equally delicious. Service generally of a good standard - but not quite how it was; water slow being topped up, bill took a bit too long but just minor gripes really. But the big let down was the cheese - the choice has now been reduced from about 20 to about 5 and poorly served (no longer the experience it was and not worth supplement any more) Its a big mistake and made for a disappointing end to an otherwise enjoyable meal. I hope they reinstate it!31/03/2013 00:00:00Beautiful food at La TrompetteLa Trompette has to be Chiswick's finest restaurant. Recently undergone renovation, although the restaurant atmosphere and layout hasn't changed significantly, nor has the food, the atmosphere is pleasant and the menu really worth the spend. The wine list is also both reasonable and varied.30/03/2013 00:00:00Fab evening! We had a lovely evening and can't wait to go again. A lot of thought went into their menu with really good options to give any diner good choices and a great experience. The Sommelier was outstanding and suggested a wine that was exactly as we described. For an evening packed with top notch food and service you need to visit La Trompette!29/03/2013 00:00:00Couldn't fault itA very enjoyable meal, great food, good wine, great service, would definitely go again.29/03/2013 00:00:00A Good LunchThe service and wine were excellent. The food was good but not perfect. The veloute was delicious but not warm enough. The individual elements of the Pollock and black rice dish were very good but the strength of the Dorset crab was dominant rather than complimentary to the others.28/03/2013 00:00:00WonderfulLa Trompette has had a makeover and a new chef. It has always been excellent but I think it may now be one of my favourites. Crispy hens egg with shaved cauliflower and white asparagus a delight. The staff were charming. Wonderful.27/03/2013 00:00:00Birthday treatIt's a while since our last visit and very impressed by the recent refurbishment which meant much more comfortable dining experience. Food and service was excellent. Lovely birthday treat. Will certainly return soon.26/03/2013 00:00:00back and betterFood as good as always but feels more airy in larger restaurant24/03/2013 00:00:00Very good across the boardWe've wanted to eat at La Trompette for some time but often looked too late for a booking. I know why after having a very, very good meal. It's one of the best restaurants in area and worth a visit for foodies. While not inexpensive found the 3 course meal at £45 pp was excellent with plenty of choices. My starter worked so well that I could have had it as a main and said best restaurant ever. It had all the signs of exceptional kitchen skills and flavour mastery but raised expectations for the main. Main (roasted pork) was very good but not as good as the starter. They have quite a few fish choices. Cheese choices superb. Selection of wines covers wide range of prices and styles. We will go back on more frequent basis.23/03/2013 00:00:00excellent foodThis is my first time and I enjoyed three courses lunch with a glass of shampaign and wine. Both soup of mashroom and rib beef were very lovely. My wife was particulary satisfied with mixed seafood salad.23/03/2013 00:00:00Absolutely FabulousI had lunch at the newly refurbed La Trompette on Saturday and it was outstanding in every way. The food has always been exceptional but with the new chef on board it was amazing. All I can say is give it a try, well worth any journey if you are not a Chiswick resident and what value for money.23/03/2013 00:00:00Birthday celebrationI took my niece to La Trompette for dinner as a birthday treat. The staff were fantastic and the food was amazing. The staff organised a birthday plate of petite fours - my niece was completely taken by surprise and absolutely loved them. Thank you for the lovely gesture.23/03/2013 00:00:00
