Diner Reviews
  • "First time experience, was a great one. Service was great, food was great and the atmosphere was excellent."

  • "Since Imli Street turned all Indian tapas-esque, they parted with some of my favourite Indian street food - namely bhel puri - which is ironic considering they changed their name to Imli 'Street'. Still a good spot to go for near-enough authentic Indian food (nothing is the same as when you're in India) and much better than the touristy slap ups you get on Brick Lane. Puddings and after-dinner cocktails are particularly appetising. Will continue to come here for fresh, no-fuss, reasonably priced Indian fodder."

  • "I took my girlfriend here for her birthday last Thursday. The staff were very friendly and the food was absolutely fantastic. We will definitely be coming back and recommending the restaurant to others."

  • "Imli Street provides a good range of cuisine in a relaxed setting. The lunch platter is good value. Service is friendly . Typical modern deco with exposed concrete ceiling and wooden chairs but works well. Good location just off Oxford Street for tourists while also serving the local media community in and around soho."

  • "Took the girlfriend here of a Birthday meal, they sat us downstairs where it was quieter on a table for two. Food was tasty especially the prawns and I'd recommend the Nashik cocktail"

  • "Imli never fails to deliver. I have been there several times and the staff & food are always superb. It's a relaxed atomosphere with great food that is innovative & hearty. As a vege I reccommend the paneer naanwich. The staff do deserve a shout out, went for a friends birthday last week and they made it really special and could not do enough. No silly table turnaround policy either so we had a leisurly dinner that lasted 4 hours with no hassles. I'll always go back! ;-)"

  • "Great food and outstanding service from our Romanian and Italian gorgeous waiters!! Lively venue serving good food well."

  • "Fantastic food, lovely waiters.. A little too attentive! I don't need to be asked every five minutes if I want something else! However it was delicious and I will certainly go back.. The lamb kebabs are a must!"

  • "This time Imili was ok. The bhel puri was too soggy and the papdi in the bhel puri was hard. The Arcot chicken biryani was dry and crunchy. The food at imlistreet has always been good. This time I did not enjoy the food at all."
    dined on 19/03/2014
  • "Had a lovely lunch. Food very tasty and great service. Will definitely return."

  • "This was our third visit to Imli Street - well, second as Imli Street, once before it was "renovated". Great food, well priced and we love the "tapas" style dishes. Not a huge plate filled with too much food"
    dined on 13/03/2014
  • "Went to Imli Street for the first time since they changed the menu and rebranded the place. Used to really love the Imli menu, and went there rather a lot. On the plus side, I love how the place looks now. The exposed brick work etc gives the place a great atmosphere. However, I just dont like the menu as much. The dishes we had were fine, but not as good as the previous ones. The paneer was fine, the potato curry was fine but nothing was really good, in my view. I get the feeling they are trying to copy the Dishoom style menu but the food is nowhere near as good. Shame they changed it. I preferred it the way it was before."
    dined on 11/03/2014
  • "I attended this restaurant on a Friday might. Initially we were told we could only have the table for 2 hours. We were never pressured to leave and ended up staying for much longer. Nether food in this place is really good. Some dishes may be a bit spicy. I would definitely go to this place again."
    dined on 07/03/2014
  • "I've been to Imli 3 or 4 times now and it is always excellent. The food is delicious, the staff are friendly, and it's reasonably good value for its location. This time I took 3 friends, all of who are now big fans. The only downside is, it's going to be harder to get a table now!"
    dined on 28/02/2014
  • "Gets a bit too warm downstairs. Service started well, but their attentiveness seemed to wear off as they concentrated on new diners arriving. Food was generally good, but nothing particularly spicy unfortunately and one dish was overcooked which to be fair, they did remove from the bill. Not too fussed about returning...not because it's bad, but there is so much choice to go elsewhere."
    dined on 28/02/2014
  • "Good all round experience to suit everyone's needs. Wether you want a relaxed 3 course dinner or snacks at the bar to accompany the fantastic cocktails. Relaxed but buzzy ambience"
    dined on 22/02/2014
  • "Food is super tasty. Staff are super friendly. So much choice in food and drink. Cant wait to try it again!!"
    dined on 22/02/2014
  • "All round very good experience. 4 of us were there last Friday night, 8.30pm booking. Great atmosphere, very good food and excellent service which I was surprised at given how busy it was. We were slightly late being taken to our table and were compensated with a free round of espresso martini's."
    dined on 21/02/2014
  • "Excellent value, good Indian street food. We had the two stands and shared them between 4 of us. We were initially concerned that there would not be enough although we found there was too much with the sides of rice and naan bread. It was very quiet when we went, mainly due to it being early and pre-theatre time which meant we got excellent service although I have no reason to suspect this would have been any different had it been busier since the staff were extremely polite and attentive."
    dined on 18/02/2014
  • "Went to Imli Street for dinner with a friend- average food and a real lack of ambiance. Perhaps it was just the evening we went, but wouldn't go back- much better food to be had nearby!"
    dined on 07/01/2014
  • "probably one of the most stylish india places. food is fine. top table menu is not such a good value though. I would avoid that."
    dined on 19/02/2014
  • "I went to Imli Street after reading about the toptable offer of £22 for 3 courses to share. I was under the impression that this meant £22 between the both of us, and it meant £22 each. I thought this was a a shocking price for the size of the portions. I will not be returning to this restaurant unless they increase their portion size, and I think the offer needs to be less ambiguous. After expressing my unhappiness to the waitress she shared that the problem is very common and a lot of diners come in thinking it is £22 to share."
    dined on 13/02/2014
  • "Excellent authentic indian food served up by friendly staff. Great menu- well done!"
    dined on 15/02/2014
  • "We went here for Valentines dinner and found the place nice. The restaurant is well decorated, clean, the staff is so friendly and their attention so good. We choose the Valentine´s menu and the portions were enough for us, a bit spicy but the taste good... To mention another thing, the food is a kind of "experimental" so we really enjoyed discovering traditional food with a modern taste and a fresh presentation. Totally recommended."
    dined on 14/02/2014
  • "Imli's has now become one of my favourite places to eat in town. The interior is very clean and trendy. Staff are so polite, helpful and very attentive. And food is not only delicious but has a twist to everything which makes their menu in my opinion very unique. We went to dine here for valentines day and we were looked after like kings and queens - without exaggeration. A must try and dine, and will be going back soon again."
    dined on 14/02/2014
  • "Went there for valentines evening. Atmosphere was really great, buzzing but not frenetic. The staff were amazingly attentive and genuinely friendly. Food was amazing. Wasn't sure about being next to the bar at the front of the restaurant, but actually that was fine too. Highly recommended."
    dined on 14/02/2014
  • "Great food with a real mix of unusual dishes along with some classics that everyone would recognise. Service was great and excellent value with a good selection of wine."
    dined on 13/02/2014
  • "I like the idea of tapas style eating with indian food and Imli offers diners foods that you wouldn't typically see in most indian restaurants; especially their street food. I would say that their main curries are a bit more on the average/good side. However I would return purely for the starters!"
    dined on 17/01/2014
  • "Awesome restaurant, staff attentive, food delicious and reasonably priced..could not ask for more!! Well done Imli !!"
    dined on 13/02/2014
  • "Food took ages to arrive as they brought starters & mains together. Was starving so really glad to see the food arrive at all. Paneer tikka was good & the lamb kebabs. Chilli cheese toast & ceylon kottu were nowhere near authentic but tasty. Not blown away by the chai cocktail. The railway lamb curry was decent. Overall fine but nothing special & a little pricey for what it is."

  • "It was a great treat to eat here! Lovely portion sizes, great food and service was top notch! Will defiantly be coming back and telling everyone about it!"
    dined on 12/02/2014
  • "Have been here twice now and each time the food has been average. Good place to meet friends as the menu is a bit different and there is a bar for early birds but the food is nothing special."
    dined on 10/02/2014
  • "Lovely food and non oily. Waiting staff need to be a bit more observant."
    dined on 31/01/2014
  • "Second visit to Imli Street, and won't be my last. The value-for-money isn't the greatest, so save it for a special occasion. The food is nice, and the atmosphere makes for a very enjoyable evening."
    dined on 07/02/2014
  • "We booked a table through Toptable and were glad that we did as Imli Street got busy in the evening. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. There is a good selection of food which was delicious and great value for money. The restaurant has contemporary decor and a great atmosphere. We will be returning."
    dined on 03/02/2014
  • "I like the food, the drink and the service. My friends and I had a good time in IMLI. The only thing that I concern is that they only provide lambs, chicken, and a little (yes, very little) seafood. If you love meats, you may be disappointed."
    dined on 02/02/2014
  • "The CTM is really one of the best I have had in London so far! Great place to have that fix if you are craving for it. The stand concept feels like a combination of Afternoon tea + indian food, which am not 100% sure as yet. Seeing the food served at afternoon teas are mainly finger food, it would seem appropriate to just pick it off the level of plates; however with the indian curry, it does feel like a different ball game as I found relatively awkward manoeuvring my spoon around the metal bar that acts as the stand. Despite that, the dishes are really delicious, in particular the CTM!"

  • "that they had changed their menu this was a birthday celebration, my other half had been before with friends and fallen in love with the rack of lamb curry but not n the menu so gutted the food was lovely but we both ended up with chicken when we wanted lamb"
    dined on 23/01/2014
  • "3 people on a Friday night (25th Jan) at Imli Street and I'm very glad we booked; it was heaving. We had been before but not since they added the bar area. The only reason I've given 3*s for the ambience is because the music was a little loud (I'm only 25 so it's not my age!). We had two sharing platters and the kitchen had made sure that there were only 3 of everything which I thought was a nice touch, and the waiter was fully bought into the idea of tapas so came over very regularly to see if there was anything else we wanted to try. The food itself was exquisite. I would recommend the talapia fish and the lamb tikka kebab! The staff were very attentive, the food was very reasonably priced. The drinks were a little much but it is London!"
