  • "Beautifully, bright and airy room with a welcoming feel. Excellent food, friendly attentive staff. Interesting wine list. With the Top Table deal on the food a great time to try is lovely restaurant. A new favourite."

  • "Chosen via Trip Advisor for a pre-show treat and it didn't disappoint. They understand the value of personal service, listening to our requests and customising our dining to suit our schedule. We chose a different ravioli dish each of which arrived divided in two so that we shared - as we had decided to do, a nice touch and the wine, though ordered by the glass was poured at the table, another touch that adds to the value. All staff were charming and attentive and, the ravioli stunning. We started with white truffle & goat's cheese, every ingredient could be detected, likewise the broccoli. Not the cheapest but well worth the extra pennies. My only criticism would be the apricot decor, which has dated.."

  • "We booked an early dinner prior to going to the Royal Court Theatre which is a few minutes walk away. The food was excellent - you don't often get really fresh mozzarella as an antipasti dish but you do here, and the main courses we chose (black spaghetti with lobster, monkfish wrapped in prosciutto) were not only authentic Italian dishes but well cooked and delicious. The service was attentive throughout and the ambience in the townhouse was refined and relaxed. Prices were very reasonable for the quality of food. Highly recommended!"

  • "Il Convivio is always a great place for lunch. A good menu - both set lunch and a la carte - attentive but not intrusive service, good food and choice of wines. This was as good as ever. And there is enough space that I could have lunch with an old but eccentric friend without feeling we were annoying our neighbours - and without being annoyed by them!"

  • "This is our third visit to Il Convivio this year and that in its own should show what we think of this outstanding restaurant. The meals have all been delighful, creative and with impeccable presentation. The service attentive but not over the top. The Maidre D as always was a delight! And we love the fact that the layout of the restaurant makes conversations easy as noise is to a minimum. Again, great food, great abience, great location."

  • "Lovely lunch time eating, great service, incredibly clean and delicious food. And really friendly waiters, made welcome at all the time"

  • "Lovely evening in a lovely little restaurant with friendly staff who like to joke and put you at your ease. Food was really good and the atmosphere was cosy but upmarket. We really enjoyed it."

  • "we had a business lunch at Il Convivio and everyone was satisfied: good food and service. The place is rich in light and the sunny day made it particularly nice. Fair value for money."

  • "We had booked to arrive at 20:30, but were stuck in traffic, we called ahead and the restaurant were very understanding. We arrived and recieved a warm welcome. The food was good, the waiter was very attentive, however I think he must have gone on a break because we didn't see him for about 25 minutes when we had decided and were ready to order. No one else was assigned to us during that time. This didn't in any way affect out overall experience as the restaurant had a good ambience. The food was lovely, the Maitre D was a highlight, he was a very warm gentleman, who awarded 'best dresser' to my partner, which was a lovely gesture. Overall, good food, excellent hospitality, I would go again, and would recommend."

  • "Lets face it, sometimes things go wrong in restaurants and you know its just unfortunate mistakes and thats what happened on our visit. One main course was wrong and so both were sent back - they came back wrong again and were sent back, the maitre D was tearing his hair out and couldnt have been nicer, explaining and offering more free wine as we waited. The meal when it came was excellent and we will go back mainly because at least they were honest, immediatly apologised and we could see it was not only a huge embarassment but that they did everything they could to make it better."

  • "Great food and lovely service. The desserts were delightful."

  • "Our dinner at Il Convivio has been enjoyable and relaxing. Good Italian food (I enjoyed the mozzarella as appetizer and spaghetti alla chitarra). A pleasant and relaxing environment with friendly and attentive service. Ideal for people looking for a relaxing dinner and a quiet chat (without having to shout, like it sometimes happens in some other restaurants). Not cheap but fair value for money."

  • "Probably one of the best Italian restaurants in London. Highly authentic menu, expert service and great execution. Can be a little quiet on occasions but the experience otherwise does not disappoint. The restaurant kindly made me a whole fig cheesecake on a biscotti base for my birthday one year, which has to be one of the best birthday cakes I've ever received."
    dined on 24/09/2013
  • "I took a friend to Il Convivio and we had a great evening. The food was first class, especially my fillet of wild boar. The service was a little eccentric - I got the wrong aperitif and my friend's starter was not the one that he had ordered. However, mistakes like that are very unusual here so don't let it put you off."
    dined on 17/12/2013
  • "Went for a girlie birthday dinner, was absolutely amazing. Staff were super friendly, incredible carpaccio for starter and delicious veal for mains. Would most definitely go back again....special thanks to the manager who gave us a complimentary birthday dessert :)"

  • "the restaurant is well positioned at the end of vibrant Elizabeth Street with its independent boutiques and specialist shops. It is very good value for money, it has nice ambiance and attentive service. I'll be back very soon !"
    dined on 26/11/2013
  • "had a pleasant meal at Il Convivio - dined here for the first time and took advantage of the 25% off food toptable offer! Food was nice and staff very friendly and helpful. The panna cotta desert was particularly enjoyed as was the wine! Would visit again."
    dined on 29/11/2013
  • "I dined here on a Saturday night with four friends. We arrived separately, with the staff greeting us at the door to take our jackets. They were very polite, charming and courteous throughout our 4.5 hours there. They gave us plenty of time to catch up (as we haven't seen each other for some time) and gave recommendations on wine and the dishes. All of the pasta is made in-house and is definitely worth trying! We had starters, main and desert, bottles of wine, grappa etc. This isn't a typical Italian tourist restaurant, but a real one definitely worth the distance from where ever you travel from. The atmosphere is relaxed, with low key music that is just right. The service and food is top quality, and I couldn't recommend Il Convivio enough"

  • "I went with a friend for a dinner and was very nicely surprised - the service was great - smiley and friendly, and food was delicious. Menu is more original than in a typical chain-y italian. Defnitely will be back."
    dined on 29/11/2013
  • "We love this small, friendly and, of course very good restaurant! The food is carefuly prepared and the taste (more important) is always very good. And for a VERY honest price!"
    dined on 15/11/2013
  • "The food was OK but the portions were ridiculously small for the price, which was quite high. The salad in particular was microscopic. We were not advised that the Top Table offer was unavailable under certain circumstances until we came to pay - advising of which is a normal courtesy extended by all other restaurants we have booked at under this scheme. The worst aspect of the experience was the attitude of the manager or head waiter. He was aggressively rude from the start. I wanted to walk out when this happened but my partner wanted to stay, so we did. He was even more obnoxious when we paid the bill. He actually shouted abusively with absolutely no provocation. My partner was quite shocked and upset by this. Avoid this place!"

  • "If you want to go to a restaurant that serves fabulous Italian food at sensible prices by the same staff you see every time then go here . We've been coming here for lunch + dinner for a long time . This place NEVER lets you down . And the BIG bonus ,you can actually hear yourselves talking . Go soon before it's too late."

  • "WE have been to Il Convivios many times and never dissapointed. Food is excellent and service attentive. Ideal location for an important business meeting or special occasion."

  • "Our evening was perfect in every way. The attentive service is most welcome as it is not always the case anymore. The food was beautifully presented and the extras given to us made our welcome is more enjoyable. With the discount, the meal was fairly priced in today's costs."
    dined on 05/10/2013
  • "Four of us had a splendid evening in this consistently excellent SW1. Everything that we ate was of the highest quality with especial praise being given to the calf's liver and to the monkfish with lemon sauce. The only thing that I would change about Il Convivio is the wine list - a few cheaper bottles would be greatly appreciated."
    dined on 18/09/2013
  • "We had been to Il Convivio before and always enjoyed it. Our latest visit was no exception. The atmosphere, service and food all combined for a fine evening. This is hardly your typical Italian restaurant. Its preparations are creative and often inspired. One of our entrees was a very nicely cooked filet of branzino accompanied by a fascinating cake of pumpkin, mushrooms and sage. A fascinating and very satisfying contrast to the fish. Our monkfish (hard to distinguish from lobster) was also excellent. Starters were similarly well-executed. We are always surprised that this restaurant isn't busier. The food is great and the setting very nice. It could only be better if things were just a tad livelier."
    dined on 06/09/2013
  • "It's the third time I have eaten here and it is always a good standard. A lovely calm environment and great service. Excellent liver and a great wine recommendation. Try it."
    dined on 28/08/2013
  • "Food and service were excellent. We had the benefit of a of Toptable offer 25% off the food, which made it excellent value for money. It is quite a large restaurant and only 2 tables were taken downstairs so the atmosphere was a bit flat."
    dined on 24/08/2013
  • "Il Convivio is in Ebury Street, a quiet, enjoyable backwater, but very near Victoria and Sloane Square. Modern, smart interior, with opening roof at the rear, good for summer dining. Food is very accomplished, mainly slight twists on Italian standards, finishing with well made desserts, often a shortfall in restaurants. Good selction of wines, well listed, including grape varieties, which is very useful with many italain wines. Excellent, attentive service, inclding offer that if I did not care for the wine I chose, they woudl exchange it. All our group enjoyed the meal and will visit again"
    dined on 15/08/2013
  • "Great service and delicious food. Would definitely return. Waiter suggested a delicious, reasonably priced wine for us to go with our food. A little expensive without the offer perhaps and there was a slightly awkward moment at the end when we had to 'remind' the staff that we had booked through toptable but the bill was corrected speedily."
    dined on 15/08/2013
  • "Really lovely restaurant, excellent service and great food. Definitely one to add to our list of London restaurants to return to."
    dined on 03/08/2013
  • "Service was as charming as ever and there were enough diners to create a good atsmosphere on a Monday evening. It's a nice venue on summer evenings as there there is so much light from the overhead windows. The food was competently done but not as memorable as other occasions I have dined here."
    dined on 10/06/2013
  • "Took the usual recommendations from top table and wasn't disappointed. We started with a simple choice of bread and olives with an amuse-gueule of tomato, basil and creamy mozzarella. We opted for the freshly made pasta and I ate the veal ravioli and even writing about it has me thinking of the delicate flavours. My guest enjoyed the spaghetti which was cooked to perfection. Unusually we chose desserts, not something we are inclined to do, we had Creme Brûlée and lemon and amaretto base cheesecake. We thought that there were sufficient quantities to allow enjoyment without overfilling the plate on each course and I have to say that a personal touch when only one diner has wine is the beautiful small carafe on the table."
    dined on 10/07/2013
  • "Everything was as good as other diners had said. It has a nice fresh atmosphere, the back room has a retractable ceiling, so dining on summer evenings is a pleasure. The service was attentive, without being oppressive and the food was very good indeed. I opted for the weekday special menu for £23. The first course was a delicious grilled prawn and vegetable dish, beautifully presented. I then opted for grilled calves liver with mashed potato and spinach. It was perfectly cooked and would not have expected better at a top notch restaurant such as San Lorenzo's, where I know I would have paid triple the price. One final point - it was not too noisy! All in all a great experience and I would not hesitate to wholeheartedly recommend it."

  • "Il Convivio is what one really wants in a neighbourhood restaurant - frendly, welcoming and completely dependable in terms of the quality of the food and service. However, to call it a "neighbourhood restaurant" is perhaps misleading as this superior Belgravia establishment is a very far cry from your average local spaghetti house. It is affordable enough to go there fairly often but smart enough for it to be a special occasion venue as well. Highly recomended."

  • "Began our evening in the bar area with some wonderful martinis and gin & tonics; cozy, yet bright, it was almost like being in someone's home. We were a party of five and had a large table in the atrium area. Beautiful interior and quite comfortable seating (we are all very tall and having a nice, spacious seating area was a treat). Service was impeccable; attentive, professional, and friendly. The food was divine. I think we tasted all food groups, from vegetarian to fish to pork. Handmade pasta was sooooo terrific. All delicious! The wines we had (suggestions from the very knowledgeable manager) were sublime. We will return here again and again on future trips to London."

  • "I ate at Il Convivio several years ago and it was good, but a recent visit finds the restaurant even better. I choose from a set Chelsea flower show menu, delicate, fresh and spring-like. Bread is brought as we wait for our food, and the olive oil it's accompanied by is wonderfully grassy and bitter. Parsley root soup is an original starter, especially studded with tiny, marvellous lemon goat cheese tortellini. I could have eaten a whole plateful of these, the dish's only fault is the lack of more tortellini! Sea bass is crisp, moist and cooked to perfection, on a bed of sweet and creamy pumpkin, counterbalanced by salty olive tapenade. Watermelon and chilli sorbet is a great, original ending to a most pleasant springtime meal."

  • "I have been to this restaurant on a number of occasions both on business and for a personal celebration in the private room. I have never been disappointed with the quality, variety and presentation of the food. The staff are friendly and efficient without being intrusive. I'll return very soon."
