Hotel du Vin & Bistro - EdinburghBusiness Lunch & Birthday Lunch`Been twice now; firstly for my birthday; excellent food and service for the 4 of us; the French onion soup is as good as it gets. Secondly, a business lunch and again was not disappointed. Highly recommended. Also, a pre-lunch drink in the upstairs gallery bar is a must.26/04/2013 00:00:00Another high quality Hotel du VinHaving visited other restaurants in this group we had high expectation, which were well met. High quality food, with no pretentiousness, in very pleasant dark club like surroundings. Excellent service, very good wine, as would be expected, and a pleasingly economic bill for such a quality experience05/04/2013 00:00:00Perfect Mother's DayI've never ticked as many "what do you recommend this restaurant for" boxes!
We dined at Hotel du Vin for Mother's Day, with the four-course brunch menu. The menu itself was good. There was an initial soup course (a well-presented, creamy potato & bacon soup) and plenty of choice for mains, including "pie of the day" and "catch of the day" - the latter of which I had, a truly colossal piece of freshly grilled tuna. Plenty choice for dessert too. But the main attraction was the "market table" starter - a buffet piled high with freshly dressed crab, lobster, oysters, charcuterie (including iberian pork on-the-leg), stuffed veg, you name it. Fantastic and great to try such a variety of dishes. Oh and a great wine list!10/03/2013 00:00:00Great food wonderful ambienceHotel du Vin, Edinburgh is a great place to eat. Dinner for 4 on a Saturday evening proved a winner.
Great ambience, efficient staff and wonderful food.

They enjoyed it just as much and commented on the lovely decor which was warm and inviting even on a cold winter evening. The menu had changed and so we were able to chose different dishes which were just as good as the first evening and such good value too. The staff remembered us and were just as attentive.01/02/2013 00:00:00hotel du vinA friend and I went on a Tuesday evening,We had the fixed price menu. The food was good, as was the service. Food can be a little slow at times though on this occasion isn't wasn't too bad. This is definitely a 70-90 minute for starter and main restaurant.10/01/2013 16:00:00Great restaurantI love this place. But the service could be improved.29/12/2012 16:00:00Christmas eve delightFabulous location for Christmas eve dinner with family. The ambience, the way the dining area was decorated and good discreet service was just what we were looking for. Nice Christmas menu too. Whilst Christmas eve wasnt the night to sit outside, it looked nice for a sunny warm day (or even cold sunny day if you get the fire side spot!).23/12/2012 16:00:00Fabulous Christmas Night OutNine of us attended Hotel Du Vin for our Christmas Night Out and we were in the Bedlam Room (private dining) and it was great. The meal, the wine, the service and the setting was excellent. Would recommend this for a special occasion or family gathering.13/12/2012 16:00:00Lunch to RememberWe booked in for Sunday lunch after the annual Service of Remembrance. Weather was cold - restaurant was warm. We were first there and it was never busy. The second course of the special meal is the French Market table which is a self-service buffet of cold fish and meats and shellfish. We both had the roast beef and Yorkshire pudding Every dish we had was very good. Four courses for £19.99 each.
Service was attentive and friendly.
Worth a repeat visit. Have already recommended the restaurant to a friend.11/11/2012 00:00:00WonderfulFood was wonderful (and great value with the deal), restaurant was fantastically set out - with impressive features (incuding outside cigar bothy), and the staff were very friendly and well turned out. The early evening deal of 50% of all food was amazing value.21/04/2012 16:00:00Hotel du Vin, Edinburgh. VeryHotel du Vin, Edinburgh. Very good experience indeed. Initially quite quiet but filled up as the evening went on. The decor and candlelight gives it an excellent atmosphere but with tables sufficiently spread out for privacy. The food was excellent - and eggs benedict for an evening starter was an inspired idea!31/03/2012 16:00:00Hotel du Vin & Bistro
We hadHotel du Vin & Bistro
We had an excellent meal. The Chicken parfait was superb and the Flat Iron Steak and Beef and Snail Pie were excellent. My partner had a petit Pot of Chocalate which I am assured was to die for. Be aware large portions. You will not be hungry after a meal here23/03/2012 17:00:00We had an absolutely fantasticWe had an absolutely fantastic meal at Hotel Du Vin, Edinburgh. The service was excellent and the food was lovely. Thoroughly recommend the french onion soup as a hearty starter, my partner is still raving about it! I had the special, which was a rack of lamb, which was cooked beautifully and seasoned well. Good choice of wines to compliment any menu choice. Highly recommended19/03/2012 00:00:00
