Hibiscus - LondonFabWe had a fantastic dinner, staff attentive but not intrusive. The 6 course taster menu we had was based on a list of I ingredients. At the end of the meal we were given a copy of the menu that had been cooked for us, this was a lovely touch. Highly recommend a visit18/05/2013 00:00:00Excellent service, good was decentHibiscus is a worthy two star-ed restaurant. Wine list and ambiance were great. Tried the tasting menu, overall it was excellent, although the first 3 courses were a little too sour for my palate.16/05/2013 00:00:00Try Hibiscus for lunchWe went as two couples for a relaxed Friday lunch. The set menu and to thier credit the matching wine recommendations were not expensive. The a la carte options would have been considerably pricier. The amuse bouche was different and refreshing and the three set courses, whilst the portions were slightly small, were tasty, well presented and they complemented each other. The service was immaculate. This was the first time we had been to Hibiscus for about three years, we wont leave it as long to visit again.10/05/2013 00:00:00Hibiscus - toptable dealWithout a doubt, a 3 course plus apertif deal for £49.50 is fantastic value for money at this 2 michelin star restaurant. Although there were only 2 choices for each course, we ended up trying one each and they were kind enough to present them as smaller dishes each so we could try everything.
Claude Bosi also came out to meet us which was nice. Aside from the great value and service, the food was absolutely fantastic. We plan to go back to try the tasting surprise menu and are sure we wont be dissapointed08/05/2013 00:00:00We went there for our 25thWe went there for our 25th wedding anniversary. I mentioned it on my booking and forgot about it. When we arrived they wished us a happy anniversary and offered us complimentary "bubbles". There was also a card on the table signed by Claude Bosi. It was done very discretely which is exactly how we wanted. The food was excellent and gave you the chance to eat ingrediants you would perhaps not normally order. The suprise menu is a great concept. We had the eight course option which I would recommend04/05/2013 00:00:00In eight wordsTHE best meal we have eaten in London.
Amazing food, wine, staff and quality of service. Would thoroughly recommend this restaurant, especially for a special occasion. Perfect.27/04/2013 00:00:00Great tastes and texturesMy wife and I had an excellent 3-course lunch, which came with a glass of sparkling wine. There were three options for each course. For my starter, I had the celeriac risotto with foam and egg yolk. I was so impressed with this dish. I chose the rabbit leg confit for my main and it came with a wasabi mash which made a good contrasting combination. We both chose the mango and lime curd with yoghurt sorbet for dessert. The mango and lime curd was moreish - thicker than I expected and just delicious. The service was friendly and efficient. I would strongly recommend coming back here for dinner.27/04/2013 00:00:00OutstandingA truly memorable experience. Outstanding food, service and a very relaxed ambiance. We loved every single dish! A perfect marriage of all senses. Would definitely recommend to anyone!26/04/2013 00:00:00Relaxed Lunchtime EatingVery nice lunch! Excellent service, excellent food in a lovely environment which easily avoids the pomp and circumstance that other restaurants at this level suffer from. Sommelier very knowledgeable which only helped add to the whole experience.26/04/2013 00:00:00Excellent food, friendly butExcellent food, friendly but efficient service, good wine - overall a really enjoyable and delicious experience!26/04/2013 00:00:00Fantastic restaurant! WentFantastic restaurant! Went to Hibiscus for my wife's birthday. Staff was very welcoming. The toptable deal is just fantastic. Great food for great price in a two star Michelin restaurant. Will definitively go back.23/04/2013 00:00:00Mystery DessertAbsolutely loved our meal at Hibiscus - exactly the sort of experience we were looking for. Fantastically cooked food, and combinations of flavours that I've never even thought of before. The desserts in particular were hugely inventive and, despite involving ingredients more usually found in a salad, tasted absolutely delicious! Staff were very friendly, not at all uptight & very well informed about the food. Happy to make wine choices for us to go with the food. They understand that a meal in a restaurant like Hibiscus is, for many people, a rare treat - when one of the courses wasn't to my wife's taste, they simply took it away and brought a different dish! Recommend very highly for a special (if pricey) night out.22/04/2013 00:00:00Simply perfectThis is one of the best place to diner in London.
The food is absolutely fresh and perfectly cooked.
The exceptional study behind each dish make this experience totally unique.
The service is impeccable.
The sommelier is very competent.16/04/2013 00:00:00We made a last minute bookingWe made a last minute booking through Toptable for a £50 four course + aperitif special. I've been meaning to visit for over a year, and delighted that we could be squeezed in. The service / decor / food was exceptional. I'm no big fan of rabbit (have never enjoyed a dish) but selected a confit of rabbit main and LOVED it.
Our only problem with the restaurant was that it was too hot! Our fault really, we should have asked if they could drop the temperature - I'm sure that had we asked they would have done it immediately. Reminder to self: if there's anything you're not happy with in a restaurant SPEAK UP! (politely).10/04/2013 00:00:00Wow!The whole evening was really delightful. The service is very attentive but not too stiflihg. The waiters and staff are very helpful - suggesting excellent wines to go with our food choices and listening attentively to our "likes and dislikes" when we did our menu selection. Very kindly, they didn't charge us for one of our courses as it hadn't been quite what we were expecting. Overall a fantastic eating experience.04/04/2013 00:00:00Delicious lunchI took my husband and son to Hibiscus for lunch as a post Easter treat and it was truly outstanding. We had the set lunch and wine deal which was fantastic value particularly as the wine was as good as the food. Every course was delicious and innovative. All beautifully presented and balanced. The service was friendly and attentive. We all loved it and will definitely return.02/04/2013 00:00:00Great food - refurbed interior good... Went with a friend to mark our birthdays. Interior re-done and opened up more with a lighter decor. Six course dinner was good - lamb and monkfish courses were really good. asparagus with hint of truffle oil were mmm. Shame there were only 4 tables covered that night (people still on Easter holiday I guess...) But the service was both friendly and impeccable. Have eaten here quite a few times now and definitely will be back again next time...02/04/2013 00:00:00DeliciousMy friend and I had a delicious meal and the service was the best I have had in years. The staff were faultless, the wine waiter was excellent. It was expensive but well worth it.28/03/2013 00:00:00Lovely experience.6 course meal with wine flight was suburb.
Definitely one for the foodies23/03/2013 00:00:00Hibiscus blows you awayHibiscus presents you with a broad menu of tastes and the chef combines these depending on how many courses you choose. It was one of the best eating experiences in a long time. Service was great too; friendly and not too obtrusive.18/03/2013 00:00:00Excellent valueWe recently dined at Hibiscus for a Saturday lunch.
The food & service were exceptional & great value at just £50 a head inclusive of 1/2 bottle of wine each.
We will definitely return .16/03/2013 00:00:00A first class lunch experienceWe decided to go for the set lunch menu at £49.50 per head including three courses, 1/2 bottle of wine, coffee and petite fours. For a 2 michelin star restaurant this was outstanding value and included some interesting options; I chose the rabbit leg confit in hay as my main course which was moist and delicious . All our courses were imaginative and beautifully presented. The service was friendly and efficient in a relaxed environment which was not too stuffy. We had booked for 2pm and left about 4.15 having had a thoroughly enjoyable, relaxing and fulfilling lunch. We are looking forward to returning soon and trying one of the excellent tasting menus.16/03/2013 00:00:00The idea of providing a listThe idea of providing a list of ingredients and then the chef making up the meal based on those we did not exclude (only one of fifteen) was a new one on us. It meant that we didn't know what we had ordered so every course was a surprise, but every course was superb. One of the best places I have ever been. The waiting staff and the sommelier were obviously enthusiastic and this added significantly to the experience. Providing a copy of what we had eaten when we left was a nice touch.08/03/2013 00:00:00Special lunch whilst in townA very pleasant and well balanced meal on offer for lunch. Service friendly and efficient. Cost very reasonable for food and wine consumed. Will definitely go again. Good position in the main area visited this time.07/03/2013 00:00:00V. Good, below par serviceVery good restaurant with great food and very nice ambience.
Service is below par (people are not very nice for a 2 michelin starred restaurant).02/03/2013 00:00:00simply perfectFrom the moment we walked through the [rather unasuming entrance] we were spoilt rotton!!
The staff were so friendly and helpful. The food was divine -plenty of choice, amazing tastes.
I cannot find a single thing to give anything les than 5 stars for the whole experience26/02/2013 00:00:00Main dishesThe first several dishes of the eight courses served on 26 February 2013 were successfully introduced. They were beautifully done. However, the selections of three core dishes, including a fish and two meat dishes, were not recommendable. One out of three dishes could be adventurous but customers surely need to feel relieved with familiar or favourite ingredients in the main courses, but it was difficult since the courses were all fixed. An idea that every dish must surprise customers may be an art but not for customers. It is obvious that the chef's technical skills are first-rated. I think the chef has simply forgotten on that day that the art of cooking is not based on skills but always starts and ends in human care.26/02/2013 00:00:00Absolutely worth a visitI had the set lunch menu which is a great formula, at 50 pounds including a caraffe of wine: with a modicum you can really check them out and see what they can offer. The flavours and elegance of the amuse-bouches made me regret not having taken the full menu... the balanced taste of the other servings confirmed the impression. I have done many michelin stars but this one is really outstanding. Service is very professional and the interiors are... well, a bit of more colour qould do no harm, but they are OK.23/02/2013 00:00:00Tasting menu recommended,Tasting menu recommended, every part a pleasant surprise.22/02/2013 00:00:00Delightful lunchWe went for a Saturday lunch to celebrate an academic achievement. The restaurant had called me a couple of days before to ask if there was any particular occasion, and every member of staff seemd to be aware and to offer appropriate congratulations. All aspects of the service were equally excellent.
The food was superb. Everything just right, beautifully presented, and a little extraordinary!16/02/2013 00:00:00The best meal of my life...Hibiscus offers nothing but surprises but is painless to order from: choose 3, 6 or 8 courses, elect for the accompanying wine flight if you have any sense, then sit back and be delighted. The staff are charming and obviously proud of what they do; but pin back your ears, as some of the accents require concentration. A grace note is that you are given a copy of your chosen menu, with wines, on leaving; another is that little gastronomic punctuations arrive at odd moments to startle your taste buds. I haven't mentioned what we ate, as it changes constantly: I can only say that there wasn't a duff dish and the eclectic wine choices were admirable. The bill will take your breath away and is entirely reasonable for cooking of this order.15/02/2013 00:00:00OutstandingSimply outstanding food and service. The meal was a masterpiece of inventive cooking, with dishes so innovative they were a delight to look at as well as consume. The service was attentive without being intrusive and the sommelier's wine choices in the wine flight were outstanding.
We could not have had a better time and could not possibly recommend Hibiscus higher.15/02/2013 00:00:00Unforgettable treatOutstandingly special set-lunch experience. Delicious, subtle, slightly quirky, generous and fun. Great service.12/02/2013 00:00:00Truly excellent! My partner and I enjoyed a fabulous lunch, excellent value
3 courses for £34.95. Service superb in fact
more staff than diners!
Would thoroughly recommend for any occasion, we will definitely
return.12/02/2013 00:00:00Well deserved 2 michelin starsI went to hibiscus just for chance and I couldn't have made a better choice.
First of all it's brilliant the idea to choose just how many courses you'll have and the chef will take care of you.
From the Cheese goujeres to the Tarte au chocolat almost everything has been close to perfection.
I enjoyed especially the Monkfish and the veal sweetbreads was really really good. The only dish that I didn't get crazy for was the suckling pig that I'd prefer to be cooked a little bit more instead of being completely pink.
The service, as you would expect from this level of restaurant, was top notch.
The wine matching has been peculiar and very well balanced.11/02/2013 00:00:00We had the taster menu andWe had the taster menu and although we knew the main ingredients each course was a surprise and a delight. The wine waiter particularly was knowledgeable and interesting. Ambience understated and relaxed. Would recommend and visit again.09/02/2013 00:00:00A little GemThe food was exceptional, the waiters were attentive and knowledgeable about the food options and its very hard to grumble at 3 courses, half a bottle of wine, coffee and chocolate for £50 a head.
The veal cheeks were beautiful and I would go back in a heartbeat. Thoroughly recommend to anyone looking for a touch of class to break a day of heavy shopping!09/02/2013 00:00:00Interesting approachA new menu style - they tell you main ingredients, you choose number of courses (3, 6 or 8) and then the dishes are a surprise. Food was excellent, one dish was a touch more salted than I prefer but a very minor criticism. Interesting wine selections for each course.
Enthusiastic, friendly, knowledgeable staff who are enthusiastic about what they're providing.
Quite pricey.04/02/2013 00:00:00Lunch at Hibiscus !!!After all the good reviews and the recommendations of a collegue of mine I decided to book at Hibiscus and once there, opted for the 6 courses tasting menu. One of the best food I had so far in town and the sommelier's wine suggestions to pair with my food were excellent.
It definetely worth the price ...04/02/2013 00:00:00Lunch tasting menuHad a fantastic lunch, everything was perfect.
A real treat, service good bordering on over attentiveness if being super critical.30/01/2013 16:00:00We arrived early but wereWe arrived early but were greeted warmly and were well looked after.
I had the six course tasting menu, but was not told exactly what I would be getting, although I was asked if I had any dislikes. It was good that whilst one member of the party had a six course menu the others could have just three courses.
The food was superb ( choice or no choice! ), pork pie sauce a revelation ( try it ) and the wine matchings worked well.
The lighting is perhaps a little subdued for 60 year old eyes, but then it is kind for the wrinkles.
Overall, an excellent evening.24/01/2013 16:00:00Top QualityOn my wife's birthday we enjoyed an exceptional moment at Hibiscus. The lunch menu was excellent value for money and its quality second to none. Well recommended.24/01/2013 16:00:00Creative dining at its bestHibiscus ought to be on everyone's list of destination restaurants in London, especially if you like to try new and exotic flavours and textures and are adventurous. If you want to know exactly what you are going to eat in advance then this is not the place for you. There is plenty of theatre driven by the specially created surprise menus they dream up every day. They were more than comfortable adjusting to their tasting menu to meet our dietary requirements too. The only downside is that sometimes the staff couldnt remember all the details of the wonderful dishes they were serving.23/01/2013 16:00:00ExceptionalWe had a dinner for two nights ago and it was a great experience. Great dining room and great attentive service. The fun part as we were told is to make very few choices-we decided to have 6 course-menu with several wines for various courses. What followed was an exceptional dinner: very well constructed dishes followed until the spectacularly tasty dessert. Everything we had was very high quality and were cooked to perfection.22/01/2013 16:00:00Dinner at HibiscusDinner last Saturday evening was outstanding. We chose the six course taster menu (which turned out to be eight or nine as we lost count) and even though between my wife and I there were various dietary challenges (no gluten, shellfish, pig meat or cream), each course was wonderful not to say fun as we had no idea what each course would bring.
The staff were friendly, helpful and attentive. A thorougly wonderful evening18/01/2013 16:00:00HibiscusSuperb food, informed and friendly service and good ambience. A place to enjoy excellent food.15/01/2013 16:00:00Extra mileI took my Mum for her 60th birthday, I mentioned on the booking form that it was a special occasions. We were really well looked after - Mum's dessert had a candle in it and we were presented with complimentary bubbly on arrival. The food was delicious, I loved the deconstructed sweet potato cheesecake. The staff are extremely attentive. Really great for a special occasion.11/01/2013 16:00:005 star lunchthe 3 couse meal was of excellent quality full of great inventiveness and skil. Staff were very pleasant and helpful.09/01/2013 16:00:00Definitely recommend - amazing! We had the tasting menu and it was amazing...you receive a list of seasonal ingredients and then it's a surprise. And a very good one. Kedgeree in an egg shell, truffle ravioli - wow!08/01/2013 16:00:00Exceptional food interesting winesThe plain facade that Hibiscus presents to Maddox Street belies the outstandingly creative dining experience to be found within. The menu does not list actual dishes, rather the seasonal ingredients from which they are created. One can choose 3,6 or 8 courses, The highlight was the amuse bouche, Hibiscus' "kedgeree": a sublime take on the classic breakfast dish served in an eggshell - quite the best thing I have tasted for months. The interesting combination of scallop with "pork pie sauce" and pink grapefruit gel, worked well as did the roast artichoke with the venison. Wines were unusual and well matched to the food:
All in all a fantastic meal08/01/2013 16:00:00
