Hereford RoadLovely British Fare, Great PricesI went here with some friends from abroad who were visiting London, and wanted to give them a taste of good British food. This was a definite winner with everyone. Very pleasantly surprised by the fantastic vegetarian meal, and the lamb was excellent. Wine list was good, a great mix and some interesting finds. Service was reasonably good - though we did lose our waiter a few times. Overall, it was a great night with lovely food, fantastic prices and good ambiance. They were also very amenable to moving our reservations by an hour, even though it was a tight squeeze. Would recommend and would definitely return.14/05/2013 00:00:00nkjljljlkjlkjlkjlklkjjijjoijoijoijojijijojpijpijpijpijipjpijkkjlkjlkjlkjlkjlkjlkjlkjlkjlkj09/05/2013 00:00:00Great!Had a really great dining experience, especially if you like to challenge your taste buds! An eclectic menu, great ambience - speed of starters / mains a little quick but they weren't rushing us so maybe just a once off. I will deal defo go back!26/04/2013 00:00:00Early evening supperThis was a lovely, characterful restaurant. The food was simple but really tasty and the Roe shoulder was excellent. The menu was a little heavy on offal in the starter region for me, but otherwise, great!19/04/2013 00:00:00Excellent!I had read a very positive review prior to dining at Hereford Road and wasn't disappointed! The restaurant feels as though it has served many guests in its time but the ambience and the super food made up for that. The restaurant is vibrant and the staff are very helpful. I shall be visiting there again soon!18/04/2013 00:00:00Great FoodHave been here many times, it's a favourite. Food is always fantastic, with a very tasty vegetarian option. Puddings are sublime. it was very busy when we went, on a Saturday night, and was getting noisy so best ask for a banquette or a table across the room from the banquettes if you want to have a conversation! Not one in the middle of the room. Lovely atmosphere tho, busy and fun.13/04/2013 00:00:00A modern classicFrankly, probably the last foodie bastion of London that isn't booked up three lifetimes in advance. It deserves to be, but let's keep it that way.11/04/2013 00:00:00A very enjoyable Sunday lunchAttentive and friendly staff
Good food well prepared
Comfortable seating; variety of options (2,4 6)
Helped with my disabled colleague07/04/2013 00:00:00Hearty fare- beautifully butHearty fare- beautifully but simply presented. Obviously a labour of love for the chefs.
Potted crab and Marmalade and Almond tart particularly good.
As one would expect from the former chef at St John Bread and Wine- there's a strong emphasis on meat- including offal- but there's still plenty of interesting choice available. Luscious.06/04/2013 00:00:00Excellent foodI always eat well here, so I return and am never disappointed. Only thing is that with wine, lunch came to £95 for two, only 2 courses, so I would probably try to go midweek next time when they have special lunch menu.06/04/2013 00:00:00Excellent, gutsy British foodGood value, large poritions, good food. Try the quail with aioli, and the guinea fowl with lentils.03/04/2013 00:00:00Set LunchExcellent set lunch - 2 courses for £13. Delicious onglet.
Very good value and lovely full house red from Portugal.26/03/2013 00:00:00Great TimeThe food is excellent with different choices every time I come. I usually come here for a special occasion or when friends are in town visiting and have never been disappointed.26/03/2013 00:00:00A new find!We have been looking for a "replacement" restaurant as our standard restaurant the we had been using when in London closed. After researching thoroughly we thought that Hereford Road would be a good replacement. Everything we had from the mussels in cider and beetroot salad to the maincourses of duck and brim were perfectly prepared. Can't wait to get back to London to sample some of the additional options on the menu!18/03/2013 00:00:00An interesting menu choice. An interesting menu choice. The food was cooked well and tasted delicious, two of us shared the shoulder of Roe which was extremely tasty and could have served three. The house wines were lovely. The staff were attentive and courteous. We enjoyed a very pleasant evening.09/03/2013 00:00:00Very delicious food and relaxed,Very delicious food and relaxed, comfortable environment. Great local place for a special treat.24/02/2013 00:00:00deliciousfood was absolutely delicious- I would definitely recommend it.17/02/2013 00:00:00Go. Eat. Enjoy.I eat here a lot; 3/4 times a month. I have yet to find something to complain about. I love this place. Go. Eat. Enjoy.17/02/2013 00:00:00Great menu and cookingWe all need a neighbourhood restaurant like this one! Terrific menu with a steer towards offal and more unusual choices so dont go if you are a boring eater. Great offering, cooking and prices. Recommended!07/02/2013 00:00:00really goodWe went here for dinner on Saturday night. We had the doe shoulder to share and I have to say that it was one of the best meals I've had in a long, long time. The meat was so tender and delicious - I'm still thinking about it!
The tables lining the wall are a bit awkward for a private conversation, but its quite cool that you can see the kitchen and the food being created.25/01/2013 16:00:00Great foodFood superb as ever. I had the vegetarian option which was delicious - as were my husband's lambs kidneys. Apple crumble fantastic too. Everything tasted absolutely fresh, great quality, great mix of flavours. Good buzz to the restaurant, but can still have a conversation. Service excellent. Have been many times and this is one of my favourites. Also don't need a mortgage to go there, which is refreshing and makes it very good value for the quality of the food, location etc.24/01/2013 16:00:00Hereford RoadThe reviews on Top Table were justified . Excellent, helpful service . Food interesting and different but with good quality staples for those who did not want to try anything new . Quality of ingredients ouitstanding . The kidneys were the best I have tasted .23/01/2013 16:00:00Tom Pemberton is a real talentTom Pemberton is a real talent and a true English chef in the tradition of Nigel Slater and Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall.(without the celebrity BS) The ingredients are locally sourced and made in an open kitchen. This is cuisine that is deceptively simple in that there are no gimmicks. Fish plays a prominent role (Cornish lemon sole, sea bream, etc) and if pork belly is on the menu, it is a "must have"-they also serve grouse when in season. The wait staff is very nice but not overly intrusive; the decor is modern but not plush. The wine list is ever changing because Pemberton continually works on matching wines with his ever changing, seasonally dependent menu and the wines are extremely well priced. No frills, no foam, just great food.06/01/2013 16:00:00Wonderful meal. Great food,Wonderful meal. Great food, delicious wine, professional service and a fantastic apple crumble.04/01/2013 16:00:00WonderfulFaultless. Absolutely wonderful Sunday lunch with three friends.15/12/2012 16:00:00Outstanding British foodThe restaurant accomplishes the most impossible of feats-elevating traditional British food to gourmet level14/12/2012 16:00:00really good english cookingreally good english cooking - I love this place and definitely keep it in mind for special occasions, it isn't cheap but its definitely worth it! I'm not sure I'd recommend to veggies, that would be the only issue I could think of.10/11/2012 00:00:00Top noshHereford road is by far my favourite restaurant in London and it easily beats all others in the area for value, service and charm. It equally suits when I need to meet friends for a quick bite or impress a client that needs to be hand glided. I love their sweetbreads and crab starters and pretty much nothing beats their roe for two in the winter months. Their deep voiced maître 'd has also been growing a beard for Movember; the site of him is my desert.08/11/2012 00:00:00Decent mealHereford road has a nice atmosphere and good food - a solid choice.08/11/2012 00:00:00this is the third time I'vethis is the third time I've been here, and as usual the food, drink and service was great. relaxed atmosphere, really friendly waiters and a nice amount of food, not mounds, but definitely a hearty portion! Quail and onglot were particularly good, as were the greens. We'll be back!08/05/2012 16:00:00Hereford Road is a local regularHereford Road is a local regular lunch venue. Outstanding value is offered. I found the pork belly starter not as good as usual, but my friend who had never been there did not complain about the food, except I noticed she left nearly all her beet root in her beet root salad starter.02/05/2012 00:00:00
