A word from Hakkasan Hanway Place

Hakkasan Hanway Place is the original Hakkasan restaurant. This Michelin starred Chinese restaurant was designed by the famed Christian Liaigre, the intricate wooden lattice screens, carved out of dark English oak, invite discerning guests for a unique dining experience with contemporary cuisine from Chef Tong Chee Hwee. The menu has a strong Chinese ethnic identity with an ethos of Cantonese cooking.

Hakkasan Hanway Place have recently launched ‘Dim Sum Sundays’. Priced at £48 or £58 per person, Dim Sum Sundays is a weekly lunch event with music from Hakkasan lounge DJs, available every Sunday from 12pm until 5.00pm.

The £58 menu includes a cocktail from Hakkasan’s award-winning list to start, followed by a half bottle of NV Perrier-Jouët Blason Brut Rosé, and concludes with a digestive cocktail to enjoy with dessert.

Diner Reviews
  • "We'd visited the Vegas and New York restaurants but this was our first time at Hanway Place and we loved it. The food was really good, (their hot and sour soup is one of my favourite dishes, it's perfect) the service was excellent and the restaurant is a nice mix of intimate dining in bustling, vibrant atmosphere, especially at the bar. I had a rose petal martini which was delicious and we tried the Asahi beers with dinner rather than wine, for a change. It's a nice place for a treat."

  • "The people working here have probebly gone through a hard 3 day training camp and taking nootes what to say. Sorry but the service is to mekanic and feels a litle bit false. The food was very good. Everything on all the plates tasted good and the presentation was beutiful. But inn all we felt a litle ript off with the the overdoing and well rehearst service. Sorry, been there once but not twize."

  • "Wonderful welcome, great service (some of the best staff you'll find anywhere in London......and beyond), nice food. All in all, a very good evening at Hakkasan. The Dim Sum platter is a must!"

  • "The food was very light and interesting with a mixture of asian themes. Excelent food and nice flavor for a change."

  • "We were very impressed on our first visit to Hakkasan and will definitely return again. Food and service outstanding and the £35 taste of hakkasan very good value. It was a little dark and my partner found it a bit difficult to read the menu. The dim sum were delicious. "

  • "The food was absolutely amazing - we had one of the set meals, and everything was great, especially the dim sum and satay chicken (actually I could name all the dishes, they were all tasty)"

  • "The food is consistently good. Cocktails great. Good ambience if you like Busy - better for groups in that case if you go weekend evenings. "

  • "I was disappointed with my visit to Hakkasan after all the hype this restaurant has received. Hakkasan is a nouvelle cuisine Chinese restaurant located in the West End of London. The restaurant was awarded a Michelin star a few years ago, the first Chinese restaurant in London to receive a one star. The so-called signature dishes are its' Dim Sum prepared in a novel way. I have to say that the Dim Sum had little flavour, although nicely presented. An expensive lunch and really not worth the visit. "

  • "Am from Hong Kong. This place is the best dim sum place I have never had outside Hong Kong. Very good dim sum and fried rice! "

  • "It was good but not 500£ good, if yoy catch my drift.. Service was great though!"

  • "My girlfriend and I went for a celebratory birthday lunch and had a great time. Food was lovely throughout, service was great, and fantastic value too. £58 a head for six courses, and a lot of booze! We'll be back."

  • "The problem with the food is that it's no better than ping pong, yet it's four times the price. I was disappointed with this restaurant because it lacked the feeling of having had a food experience. It was as quick to get in, eat, then get out, as it would have been in the local Chinese. Indifferent waiter service. Wine brought out before the cocktail we'd ordered first. Too fast, too expensive, very dull. I'm so disappointed, this was a birthday meal but it wasn't special at all. Hakkesan is a tired restaurant in need of a revamp."

  • "The food was very good. The atmosphere and dining experience was not as I expected it ... very loud, impersonal, crowded, we basically felt like a number. The service was not good at all, one of the waiters really tried to rush us through dinner. And this is not what I expect from a want-to-be first class restaurant, especially if I order the most expensive dinner option on the menu. I totally understand that restaurants have more than 1 seating per evening, but a rally good restaurant with good staff knows how to handle this and still give their guests a great dining experience. Hakkasan didn't, the staff really didn't leave a good impression. All in all I don't regret going but going back would really feel like wasted time and money."

  • "We went for week day lunch. We had the et menu for £35 per person. Starts with dim sum which was lovely. Main courses followed, equally enticing. Good wine list. Service was quietly efficient, not overbearing. Overall a very goog experience and we plan to return. The only difficultly is finding the place. Start from oxford street and walk north up Tottenham ct rd, then first left. If you come from the north, google maps gets v confused! Staff say its a common problem. The table beside us had the same problem."

  • "Food was as always simply amazing. I've recently gone wheat free and the staff were very knowledgeable with what I could and couldn't eat - good selection and I didn't feel I missed out at all. The service was however a little too 'efficient' for my liking - I felt we were being rushed the entire time. It was my birthday but it all felt rather corporate. On this basis we won't be rushing back x"

  • "Really good service, we booked at 530pm pre theatre on a saturday and were out by 645. We decided to go for the hakassan taster set menu. Food was more than enough for two, with good selection of dim sum for starters, was excellent and thoroughly enjoyed. This is better value for money when including drinks. Fantastic food and would go again..."

  • "this was our third visit, it seems the place is a little spoiled. plates not empty were taken off the table whilst still eating - too eager to sell the table many times the same night?"

  • "Superb food, even too much if you select the pre selected menu. Superb and very attentive service. Overall picy but worth the experience"

  • "I have dined at Hakkasan Hanway Place many times in the past, the last time until my recent experience being several years ago. The food used to be great, atmosphere cool and dark. My recent experience was quite different. Food was a let down, most dishes being more slimy/greasy than they should be. And the atmosphere has changed too - place seemed filled with tourists and prom dinner date types. Has definitely lost its culinary edge and its cool."

  • "A clever mix of oriental taste and refined cuisine. The dessert was a little bit conventional."
    dined on 10/04/2014
  • "Brace yourself because despite a reservation you have to wait for your table. The bar area is quite small and the waiters are constantly shuffling past. The restaurant as a whole is quite loud and it is difficult to understand people sitting on the other side of the table. The food is excellent and the staff attentive and friendly."
    dined on 10/04/2014
  • "My partner and I splashed out on the most expensive signature menu at Hakkasan for his birthday (£118 each) and we also had two cocktails each. All the food was delicious, notably the soft shell crab and the wagyu beef, which although slightly overcooked to our taste was still very tasty. The duck served with caviar as part of the starter was succulent and the caviar added a welcome dimension to this typical 'british' chinese dish of 'duck with pancakes'! Everything on our menu was prepared with care and we were particularly happy that the portions we not too small - after rather substantial, rich desserts, we we both stuffed and very happy."
    dined on 10/04/2014
  • "Hakkasan did not disappoint on the food front and wasn't overly expensive for the high quality. Found the tables too close together and music too loud considering the number of people crammed in but service was good and overall experience very good."

  • "Food, service and atmosphere made for a lovely evening. Would highly recommend!"

  • "Our table had the last page signature menu. Very expensive, but worth it! We started with cocktails, which came quickly. Very helpful staff ensured we were served first courses promptly, and we made the theatre with time to spare whilst not feeling rushed. The food was superb, not to be faulted. The peking duck was delicious and the soft shell crab to die for! We loved all the main courses, my favourite was the sea bass which melted in the mouth, The only slightly disappointing dish was the mushrooms, which looked unappetising, but actually tasted OK. Overall, a winner!"

  • "Food was decent , dimsums and desserts were exceptional, service was good,, worth trying out once,, not sure if its michelin star quality though, expensive for a chinese meal, dimsums are good value for money this place an an absolute no no for vegetarians,,"

  • "the taste of hakkasan menu was fantastic value and beautiful food. Only thing that let it down slightly was a problem with my husband ordering champagne for us as a surprise which did not arrive."
    dined on 05/04/2014
  • "Love the Food at Hakkasan - always consistent - Had the vegetarian Dim Sum Platter to start with which was out of this world - Dim Sum can be so bland but this was incredible. Good atmosphere and great service. Only negative the wine menu was punchy in terms of price - limited in terms of choice - however the ones on offer were very good. Meal for 2 set me back £250 - a little pricey some might say. But I know that I will be back again."
    dined on 02/04/2014
  • "Delicious food and cocktails, outstanding service and great company made my Hakkasan experience very enjoyable! I can recommended the £60 signature set menu; it came with a good range of dishes and I particularly enjoyed the Spicy prawn with lily bulb and almond."

  • "The décor of the restaurant was alright, and the food acceptable albeit a bit over priced for what it was. Wouldn’t say it was the best I’ve ever had, mediocre at best. However, the customer service we received was superb. That is probably the only thing, I would go back for. Oh, yes, and perhaps a cocktail or two. Though my friends said they were a bit too weak for their taste."
    dined on 03/04/2014
  • "Off chance booking at Hakkasan on a Saturday afternoon. Fantastic dimsum and alcohol menu was excellent value, incl half bottle of perrier jouet each, two cocktails and six course with desert. Would love to go again."

  • "The food was very good - but miss draft beer, not only beer on botle The beer was expensive. Food was very good, but very much noise in the restaurant. Do you have a micheling star? I do not agree on that. But the food where outstanding, but expensive."
