Amazing starter of crab and fennel salad on pork crackling! We ordered from the daily specials of the first British asparagus and rump steak which was delicious. Very intimate restaurant with chef cooking in front of you. Truly delicious food, we will be back soon!20/03/2013 00:00:00Great place for chilled foodieRelaxed ambiance and delicious food,
Great for Sunday brunch before/after a walk on Portobello road,
Friendly staff and laid-back boss, who make you feel like home,
Worth a try!17/03/2013 00:00:00Great new find!Looking for a 'non-chain' restuarant my girlfriend and I ate here last week and were knocked out by the food. Interesting, well presented dishes described with great panache by the 'manager'. With a bottle of wine it was around £40 each and we only shared a starter so it was a little more than I had assumed from the Under £25 billing but it was worth it.14/03/2013 00:00:00FabulousSuper ambience, food was awesome. I will definately return.10/03/2013 00:00:00I booked a table here forI booked a table here for a date - and got the week wrong. Not only did they look after me fantastically, they gave me a sympathy starter. Service fantastic, fun and friendly. Food and ambience great.20/02/2013 00:00:002nd visitThoroughly enjoyable dining experience and the staff have real personality and passion for their menu. It's the best place to eat on Portobello rd.09/02/2013 00:00:00Great atmosphere and comfort.Great atmosphere and comfort. Will visit again when in London. The cod was excellent and belly pork outstanding with great crackling washed down with a lovely house red. The staff were attentive but not intrusive. Loved the pile of magazines so would be ideal for morning coffee too and people watching on the Portabello Road.10/01/2013 16:00:00A real Portobello character.A real Portobello character. You can sit by the kitchen and chat to the chef. The food is always a little bit different - quality with character. They make you feel part of an experience - more than just customers. A plate to enjoy the Notting Hillbilly feeling. You'll love it or hate it!01/12/2012 00:00:00An anniversary mealA small cosy restaurant with a really great welcome and service from Jimmy. As another reviewer has mentioned - the menu is small, with possibly only four mains, (though there are also specials on the night), so it is well to make sure that the choices are suitable for the day you book. On our evening the bavette steak, (a cut many restaurants find difficult to get right), was cooked to perfection and very well flavoured. Served with frites and roast marrow-bones. My special of pollock was tasty, though possibly just a fraction over-cooked. The chocolate brownie was really oozy, and the fruit sorbets were outstandingly well-flavoured. Just one plea - an appetiser was 3 fresh radishes; great - but why 3 for two diners ? Please guys - 4?06/09/2012 00:00:00Returned to Goode & WrightReturned to Goode & Wright after a week - decided that there is something special about the food and the atmosphere. The food is "real" - great ingredients, cooked simply but well and it has soul. Perhaps it's becaue the kitchen and the restaurant are so connected (in the same room) and there is just one chef who does it all. Then there is the host - he gives everyone the attention of a friend who really cares that you have a good time. Well worth a try when in W11.17/03/2012 00:00:00This is a different sort ofThis is a different sort of restaurant - very idiosyncratic. The menu was very limited (three main courses) but it makes up for this with tartines (open sandwiches). So do check the menu online when you book to check it will suit the occasion. The food was actually very good especially some excellent roast lamb. The cheese plate was huge and the deserts very good. The experience was more of eating as a house guest than in a restaurant - very Portobello and good fun.10/03/2012 00:00:00
