Gaucho Leeds Ratings and Reviews
Great for an occaision
Chose to ate at Gaucho's for a family get together. The service from arriving was faultless, staff were attentive even though they were very busy. Cocktails were divine and a good choice. The food was very good, although my daughter had spare ribs with pickled cabbage to start, the Spare Ribs did lack flavour and the cabbage I think had missed the pickling. Also her risotto main course was heavily flavoured with tarragon, over powering in fact and I like strong flavours. This was dealt with fantastically by the restaurant, they exchanged it immediately without any fuss and a replacement dish was provided in a matter of minutes. The steaks were excellent and cooked to perfection. Overall the evening was superb, I mention the points above as Gauchos is not a cheap dining experience so you do expect a certain standard. We would return.
Great food, excellent steaks, served by an extremely helpful waitress. Bit expensive but overall a great overall experience.
Overpriced and noisy with over attentive unxious waiting staff in a poorly lit environment The meat is excellent, the lunch menu a rip off
Disappointed, given the reputation.
I was very much looking forward to experiencing a Gaucho steak dining experience, but was sadly left with a luke warm taste in my mouth....quite literally. We booked for a late afternoon to take advantage of the lunchtime fixed price menu. The belly pork was more belly, than pork.....and sadly the fat was not cooked, crisp or rendered in any way. It more resembled a creme-brûlée with a bit of colour atop the inch of fat. I asked for a steak to come medium well..it came rare and with cold chips.. In fairness the steak was taken away and cooked as initially requested, but I was the only member of the party to get hot chips...with all diners commenting about cold plates. It wasn't a particularly busy service and we all ordered the same combination of pork and steak, so there should have no excuses for timing causing the food to sit and chill. I'm not sure I'd be rushing back, given the premium price, which is a shame, as the layout and friendly staff lends itself to what should be a top quality dining experience.
Exelent meat, great service

Excellent food and service
Had a gorgeous meal here last Friday and will definitely be returning next time we are in Leeds. The food and service is outstanding.
An excellent place to eat
From the moment we received a phone call early in the afternoon from the restaurant confirming our attendance later that night our Gaucho experience just got better and better. The staff were all very friendly and knew their stuff! The food was out of this world - we had the Lomo sharing steak and it was amazing. A great meal complimented with fine wine. Recommended to everyone, we'll certainly be going back!
Weeknd away dinner
The steak does not disappoint. The staff are very helpful and the advice on which steak to order for all personal preferences was great. There was no overbearing effort to push starters, which was appreciated as we had primarily come for steak. The sides that we ordered were also excellent. Similarly the advice on the wine list was very good. Staff were attentive throughout the meal despite the restaurant being very busy. The restaurant was much small that I had expected and that brings me to the only complaint for the evening which is the table size. I order to fit as many tables as possible into a relatively small dining room, not only are the tables close together but they are SMALL. We had a table for four which would have been a table for two at pretty much any restaurant I have eaten at. This is definitely not a cheap dinner out but the food was great. I just wish we hadn't felt as cramped an that there had been enough room at the table for everything.
We visited Gaucho for the first time yes...
We visited Gaucho for the first time yesterday, myself being a steak aficionado and my husband having never eaten a steak, and if anything, had a bit of a 'food phobia' about them (crazy, I know). We told this to our servers and they were excellent at recommending something for us both to try. I went for the spiral cut ribeye which was delicious, and my husband opted for the fillet, cooked medium well. I was so pleased when we took our first bites of our steaks, and I heard a surprised little "Mmmm" from beside me; he was shocked at how good it tasted, and the tenderness of the meat was amazing. Clean plates equals happy diners, and the servers were keen to get my husband's thoughts after his first ever steak. Apparently Gaucho has ruined him now, because the food was so good, he's scared he won't ever have a steak as good anywhere else!! A small price to pay to be able to (finally) go to a steak restaurant together!! Thanks everyone! Sarah
Great for a special occasion
Visited Gauchos whilst in Leeds on business. Nice atmosphere and busy for a Tuesday night. Could not fault service and food very tasty.
Great steaks and wines.

Lunch at Gaucho Leeds
We had lunch at Gaucho Leeds to celebrate our eldest son's 21st birthday. The restaurant was his choice, as it's his favourite in Leeds. The staff made us very welcome indeed and provided an amazing setting for our special lunch.
Lovely evening at Gaucho Leeds
The food and service were excellent. The fillet steak medallions were the best I've tasted in a long while. A thoroughly enjoyable experience although quite pricey.
I went to Gaucho's for a special dinner, and it did not disappoint. As soon as I entered the staff greeted me and my girlfriend with a smile, and took us to our table. Soon after that our waitress came along with a very large chopping board displaying all their different cuts. She very nice and very knowledgeable, telling us which cuts should be cooked at which temperatures. We only had to wait a short while after ordering for our food to arrive, and safe to say it was delicious. I ordered the rump, and my girlfriend got the trio of medallions (fillet, sirloin and ribeye) and all 4 cuts were cooked to perfection (medium-rare). The only thing I should mention is that when asked whether you want thin or thick chips with your stake, I would pick the thin ones unless you want quartered roast potatoes (which don't get me wrong are very nice, just not what I was expecting). For dessert I ordered a special lemon meringue, which was delicious, and my girlfriend had the chocolate ganache cake, which was also nice. So all in all I have to say it was one of the best dining experiences in Leeds, and definitely worth the money. Lastly I should mention that on our way out, the greeting staff somehow managed to remember which coat was my girlfriend's (without us even having to ask), which I give them kudos for,
One good meal one not so good
Booked gaucho for my boyfriends birthday meal as he liked the fact that you could get a larger steak than other places. First impressions were lovely and the staff are really attentive. Our starters arrived and while they were really tasty mine was different from what I ordered. I picked the empanadas and one of them was beef but I asked for ham as I was already halfway through I ate it rather than sending it back to wait for another one. My boyfriend ordered the ribs which were lovely. For mains I ordered the fillet and my boyfriend ordered the sirloin. I was really impressed when I started eating it was really tasty and a good piece of steak but after a few minutes it was stone cold which really spoiled it. It was quite a large steak so I let my boyfriend finish it but he agreed it was cold but his was still warm so he really enjoyed his. I mentioned it to the waitress and she apologised and said she would let the chefs know the plates need to be warmer. Overall due to those two points I have had better food elsewhere so wouldn't return.
Even thought the restaurant was extremely busy, they coped brilliantly, thought we would have to wait ages, but we didnt. The fillet steaks were cooked to perfection! If you like steak it is great restaurant, with a lovely ambience and great service.
Amazing service and great steak!
Staff were very attentive and catered excellently for my gluten free diet. Food was cooked to perfection and the recommended wines perfectly complimented our meals. Definitely one for special occasions given the price tag but definitely worth it every once and a while!
Enjoyed a very good meal at Gaucho's in Leeds. Great atmosphere and exceptional service. Steaks were large and tasty!
Underwhelming and over-priced
Given a poor table, next to the kitchen and the doors to the toilets. The waiting staff were friendly enough but there was something missing from the whole experience. For a start (no pun intended) I ordered ribs only to be told that they were off the menu. This at 7:30pm on a Saturday evening!!!!!! The food was ok, no more than that but to charged nearly £5 for a small bowl of chips and another £5 for french beans is taking the mick, especially when the mains are over £25. It was 75 minutes from sitting down to receiving our main course. I came away with the impression that this restaurant is for the young trendy customers rather than a serious foodies. Disappointed
Sensational food, sensational prices
The steaks were absolutely the standard one would expect - we had 300g fillets cooked rare that melted in the mouth. The chips were the best I have eaten anywhere, anytime. I thought the steaks would come with some sort of salad, but that was extra. Fair enough, I guess. The wine list felt a bit outrageous - only one white and one red under £30 a bottle and most of the rest of the list was over £40. The service was very good - friendly and attentive, although there was a bit of gap between arriving and the starters arriving. There were no appetizers, which was a bit disappointing given that we arrived at 21:30 and were quite hungry. Hard to pin down the ambience. The cowhide swivel chairs, chrome fixtures and black walls gave it a bit of the feel of an early 80s nightclub, so I'm not sure how that fitted with the South American ranch theme of the menu. We ended up spending £270 for three courses for three of us, including tip. It's definitely an experience I would recommend.
I booked Gaucho as a surprise for my husbands birthday. This is the second time we have been, the first being a few years ago and it was as fantastic this time as the first. It's definitely a special occasion for us. The food is superb and the service excellent - friendly and knowledgeable.
Special occasions only.
A lovely restaurant to share a special occasion. First impressions were excellent. We were very impressed at the staff taking note of our Anniversary. The prices you pay for the food are in my opinion quite pricey. The steak comes out totally on its own with a little side of chips... the drinks menu we found incredibly expensive and therefore we would only return if celebrating a special occasion.
Interesting and unusual starters. Lemon sole ceviche and salmon ceviche were particularly good. Staff very attentive and helpful. Tastiest and most tender rib eye I have eaten. Quite expensive but we felt as though we had had a special occasion

Steak was perfectly cooked pink as requested and actually had a great depth of flavour that you often don't find in many steaks these days Friendly staff
The best steak iv ever had and cooked perfectly
Fantastic decore food spot in as always made to feel very welcome and staff bend over back wards to help.
Very disappointed. We left most of the food and I found the service very intrusive. Not for me I'm affraid
Fantastic restaurant and lovely food. Booked for our 30th wedding anniversary and the staff at Gouchos made the event memorable. The steaks were great and we had a great time
Brilliant steaks but you certainly pay for them!
I visisted the restaurant on Friday night it was busy with a lively atmosphere. Quickly showed to our table and the waitress introduced herself. Overall the experience was reasonably good. Service was excellent and the environment was good and the steaks were excellent. However, be prepared to pay over £30 for a good steak all sides at £5 each. The waitress was very good but continually up selling to us. The white wine was not chilled sufficiently and the restaurant didn't seem able to achieve the right temperature. Due to the cost this can only really be reserved for special occasions and even then if you want a steak is this worth the price?
Another Superb Visit
We had the pleasure of having dinner with friend on Friday 04th September at Gaucho Leeds. As always, service was totally customer focused, attentive and friendly. The food was to the same usual high standard; with an extensive wine list to compliment any dish. Rachael was totally amazing; personable and customer centric - a real asset to the Gaucho management team. As we have eaten at Gaucho before it wowed us that they knew our wine preferences; especially as we couldn't recall the red wine we had on a previous visit. Whilst pricey, it's worth every pound spent. Without hesitation, would highly recommend.

A very good place to eat the decor and lighting was very intimate. Good food and good service i will be going again.
My husband and I absolutely love this place. Amazing food and fantastic service too. Perfect experience from start to finish
Birthday Boy went home very full. And happy.
I booked Gauchos as neither myself nor my partner had been before, and I'd seen / heard rave reviews on social media. It was a special occasion, and knew it would be more than I'd usually pay for a meal. We arrived, on time, and was offered drinks in the bar, which we opted for. Our waiter was speedy and courteous, offering some nibbles too. We opted for cocktails, before being taken to our table. The ambience was fantastic, dark, twinkling and seductive. My only complaint is that my partner struggled to read the small print in the menu, so I felt like a school teacher reading it out to him (no, he doesn't wear glasses, nor need to). We ordered mains, followed by dessert, topped off with more cocktails. Everything was superb. The beef cooked perfectly, the sides were fantastic, and desserts (or in my case - the Yorkshire cheese board) was enough to down a man (the dulce de leche creme brulee is highly recommended). The service was amazing and I can't fault our lovely waitress. The cost - £140 for two courses, with cocktails (they cost £40 alone! Much better value IMO than wine). The only small gripe I have was being charged for the cocktail nibbles - this wasn't stated at any point, and whilst they were delightful, definitely aren't complimentary when being charged twice over per person.
The Perfect Meal
Took our teenage daughters to Gaucho Leeds after an excellent days shopping. The staff are very warm and friendly, the atmosphere feels good whilst also being relaxed. Our daughters were amazed, they felt special and loved every second of the whole experience. This is the third time we have visited Gaucho Leeds and we have not been disappointed. The food is expensive but it is excellent. We will definitely visit again
Outstanding as always. There is never anything to complain about at any of the Gaucho restaurants.
This was my first visit to Gaucho Leeds and it certainly won't be the last. Very impressed from the moment we walked through the door, first class service from all of the staff but particularly our waiter who went over and above to make sure our sons birthday was an evening he would remember. The food was amazing and none of us could fault any of the dishes we choose, we had a slightly longer wait than expected for the main course but the staff apologised for the delay and the steak more than made up for it. Absolutely perfect evening, get yourself there you won't be disappointed.
A lovely evening
A very friendly, professional staff combined with lovely cocktails, great food, stunning decor and a relaxed ambience made for an excellent evening. It was well worth the 83 mile drive and overnight stay! Thank you
Great service...amazing food
Gaucho is my favourite steak house, once you have experienced Gaucho steak, no other steak compares. The staff were great, and considering it was a busy Saturday evening, we were not waiting for too long for our food to arrive. I would go recommend to anyone who likes a good steak (fillet medium rare - melts in your mouth)

Always enjoy Gaucho's ! Great food with great service
Visited gauchos on my stag night with a few close friends and my sons, it was an expensive experience but we all agreed that as a one off special occasion it was worth it. The staff were particularly professional and had obviously been well trained. I could recommend it and will visit again.
Nice but not quite perfect
I have dined at Gauchos a number of times in the past. My recent visit was a little disappointing. We ordered the sausage platter to share and unfortunately the sausages were more than well done and had to be sent back. However they were changed without a problem. We both ordered the fillet steak -cooked medium rare. Unfortunately we were not given steak knives for this course and it was a little difficult trying to cut the meat with a normal knife. Gauchos is not a cheap place to dine and therefore you would expect everything to be perfect. Sorry Gauchos you have slipped.
