Diner Reviews
  • "All the staff made us feel very welcome, the service, food, wine and ambience were a all excellent. I particularly enjoyed the smell of wood fire and cooking meat. We will return again and again."
    dined on 11/04/2014
  • "The meat in Gaucho is really amazing, perfectly cooked, incredibly tender and very tasty. When you love meat you really have to dine there. The place is nice (maybe a little bit too dark inside), good service. The only criticism: the size of the table for 4 people, rather small."

  • "I have frequented Gaucho restaurants many times in the last 10 years mainly in Broadgate, Canary Wharf and Piccadilly. However, this was my first time in the Hampstead branch. The biggest issue was the cold breeze coming from the outside through the open door, my partner mentioned this to the waiter but he said the door needed to be open for the service to the outside tables. Things got worse when smoke from the outside fire started blowing in through the open door. By the end of the evening my eyes were burning and my suit (luckily not expensive) smelt heavily of smoke. The waiter service was to a good standard but the food was ordinary. I recommend STK, Goodman and Hawksmoor instead of Gaucho for choice of menu and quality of the food."

  • "very good steaks indeed. one of the best i've eaten. service was excellent. would highly recommend it again and again!!"
    dined on 05/04/2014
  • "My first time to Gaucho after hearing a lot of rave reviews and I have to say they didn't disappoint! I had had my braces tightened the day before so was in the mood for some really delicious tender food. After being talked through the options I was recommended the perfect option, with a good accompaniment. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone and will be going back again!"
    dined on 29/03/2014
  • "Service very ridiculously bad! Not enough staff, over crowded, waiting area was right by our table and the waiting area was far too crowded. We had people standing around our table. The bill came and there were 6 items on the bill which we did not order. Sent the bill away and it came back still with an item which we did not order, even after we highlighted which once we did not order. Shame on you Gaucho, you use to be SO good."
    dined on 29/03/2014
  • "Step-free entrance - didn't check out loo. Cryptic comment: if you can't get a seat at Dans le Noir, you'd be nearly as well catered for at Gaucho's...."
    dined on 15/03/2014
  • "This was one of the best steaks I have had in London. Great quality beef and cooked perfectly. Will definitly be back."
    dined on 22/03/2014
  • "Because it was saturday, the service was clearly not as good. Unfortunately the food was not with the normal quality Tends to be an excellent restaurant but guess this time we were unlucky."
    dined on 22/03/2014
  • "We frequent Gaucho Hampstead often and always love the atmosphere and food. I didn't go for steak this time, but instead ordered chorizo and prawns. I did expect the king prawns to be larger, so was a bit disappointed, but the taste was there and our waiter (sorry not sure what his name is, Brazilian man) was absolutely fantastic!!"
    dined on 19/03/2014
  • "Service was very slow- we waited 15 minutes for the bill (and asked twice) and in the end stood up to pay at the bar, only to be told we couldn't so ended up paying in the middle of the restaurant floor. Food was good but overpriced."
    dined on 14/03/2014
  • "Had a great time at Gaucho with a group of friends, the meal was amazing, steaks you cut with a butter knife. Pricy so no an everyday hang out but certainly a great way to celebrate"
    dined on 08/12/2013
  • "I had high expectations. The food was very average. My wife steak was overcooked and it was not hot. I picked the gaucho tasting plate and ended up with free cheap bits of steak. We had one course and it was over £100."
    dined on 10/03/2014
  • "This is a execellent restaurant staff are very good. Nothing is to much trouble for them ."
    dined on 08/03/2014
  • "Gaucho didn't dissapoint, the food was great and the service provided by the waiter was execellent. You really do get what you pay for!"
    dined on 08/03/2014
  • "Gaucho was amazing as usual the food was brilliant. Cocktails weren't the best and it is quite dark inside"
    dined on 28/02/2014
  • "Had been looking forward to finally eating at Gaucho but both my partner and I were disappointed with our Gaucho burgers. Seeing as they're supposed to be supplying great beef I was surprised by how flavourless the burgers were. And my sweet potato chips were an even bigger disappointment! I've had better at GBK and even the ones I do at home surpass those! Not sure I'd ever go back, worried the steaks will be just as underwhelming!"
    dined on 21/02/2014
  • "If you like meat/steaks, Gaucho rarely disappoints...great food. Hampstead branch is not as nice as many of the other branches but nevertheless well worth a visit"
    dined on 22/02/2014
  • "Clearly the owners of Gaucho Hampstead have thought through the complete dining experience. Buzzing atmosphere. Fast brilliant friendly service. Outstanding meal. What topped the night was the outdoor area. Great to sit there and relax after the meal with a brandy. Big open fire and blankets to keep you warm. I was on a first date, needless to say, she was very impressed. Thanks to all at Gaucho. Outstanding!!!!!"
    dined on 22/02/2014
  • "First time eaten at Gaucho, the food was fantastic. Good choice of wines, fairly priced and also very good. Amazing desserts. Steak really good, lots of sides to choose from. Very buzzy atmosphere, slightly too dark would be my only criticism, very good waiting on tables, very attentive. Need to book in advance at weekends."
    dined on 22/02/2014
  • "Food and wine were amazing and also the ambience! I waited for 15 minutes even if I had a reservation, but all the other things were fantastic."
    dined on 20/02/2014
  • "Surprisingly, it's remarkably difficult to find a truly excellent steak in London without spending a small fortune (and even then it's risky). The steak at Gaucho is consistent, reliable and quite exceptional. It's beautifully prepared and the service is also second to none. My wife and I enjoyed the butterfly sirloin, along with a selection of exquisite sides and a very tasty Malbec. Gaucho is by no means the cheapest, but as we all know: you get what you pay for. All-in-all a wonderful meal in romantic (and uber-trendy) surroundings. No hesitation recommending."
    dined on 13/02/2014
  • "Steaks are good but not great value, drinks are over priced ..."
    dined on 13/02/2014
  • "Excellent food and superb service! My only downside is no lighting in the ladies lavatory, that is important!"
    dined on 11/02/2014
  • "Great argentinian steak restaurant. Lovely wine and great place to go with good friends. Not a cheap night out but well worthwhile treat. Not much on menu if you do not eat steak!"
    dined on 08/02/2014
  • "I went to Hampstead Gaucho for my birthday, the food was just mouth watering and the service was great. The waitress we had, whose name i cant remember, was friendly and had a great personality; not something you find in allot of other waitresses. I did initially think that the decor, being quite dark, would feel oppressive but actually was the opposite and suited restaurant and the atmosphere it is trying to create. I also thought it would be more expensive. We all thought that we would be paying £100 a head but only paid £55. For that we had main meal with 2-3 side orders plus £46 chardonnay and £26 house wine (which wad delicious). We will definitely be going back at some point."
    dined on 31/01/2014
  • "Gauchos are in the same price bracket at Hawksmoor. If you're going to pay that much for dinner, go to Hawksmoor. This Gaucho had the standard lighting, i.e. not much. So dark, diners are using the light from their phone screens to study the menu. While attempting to decipher it, we ordered cocktails. The martini was very watery like it had been over shaken. It was better on the second attempt. We ordered empanadas to start. I've more elegant and appetising Findus Crispy Pancakes. These were stodgy, tasteless, out-of-the-freezer jobs. The waiter admitted they were made somewhere else instead of onsite. Steak and fries were good. Cooked as ordered. At £75 a head (including a lower end red), this is overpriced dining and leaves a bad taste."
    dined on 25/01/2014
  • "Gaucho is our favourite for special family occasions. We took our kids to celebrate our 22 Wedding anniversary and it did not disappoint."
    dined on 19/01/2014
  • "We were welcomed by a very friendly maître d who showed us to our table and things began well with the usual fuss and attention. Our waiter was excruciatingly slow. There were actually a number of waiters who were simply lounging about and our waiter clearly cared more about socialising with them. The service the whole night was very poor. I had a medium rare ribeye, My wife had a fillet which was nothing beyond what is on offer in far cheaper establishments. Mine was supposedly the 500gr but I guessed it to be closer to 400gr. As I got to the last bites I bit into a huge chunk of gristle and sinew and the experience was ruined. The maître d didn't blink when I said that the meal was 'average'. Get your steak fix elsewhere."
    dined on 15/01/2014
  • "Everything was great. Recommend the top side rib eye, was wonderfully cooked. Would definitely go back. The sides were also as delicious as the main."
    dined on 12/01/2014
  • "Great steak and service with a candle in a lovely cheesecake to celebrate the birthday girl in our party."
    dined on 12/01/2014
  • "We've been to a number of the Gaucho locations around London but the one in Hampstead is our favourite. The ambience is very nice and more open than some of the other locations. The service is excellent and friendly. But the really important thing is that I swear the steaks and other items are actually better too. They always prepare the steaks and meat perfectly and that is the most important thing to me."
    dined on 10/01/2014
  • "Everything we ate and drank was delicious, especially the succulent steaks. The staff were friendly, but not obsequious, and the service was brisk and efficient. However, two criticisms: the music needs to be turned down to enable comfortable conversation and the lighting needs to be turned up to allow you to read the menu without squinting. But I'd go again!"
    dined on 10/01/2014
  • "Lovely experience. Excellent service! Very tasty, quality food. Nice drinks at the bar. Fantastic as an evening venue. I found it a bit pricey and not something that I could afford on a regular basis, but I understand that it's because the meat is not local. Over all I would recommend to others."
    dined on 04/01/2014
  • "Everything about Gaucho Hampstead is great. The staff is very friendly and knowledgable about their steaks. The ribeye is the best. It's a fun evening out."
    dined on 07/01/2014
  • "The welcome and service was excellent. Our steaks were absolutely delicious."
    dined on 06/01/2014
  • "we know it well. This time the smoke from the outdoor fire made out clothes smell the next day. we now have to dry clean them. Sad because this is so avoidable"
    dined on 18/12/2013
  • "A lovely meal for my husband's birthday. Food was gorgeous. Very high quality food despite it being costly, butI am happy to spend it for a special occasion only, not for any old meal! Thanks."
    dined on 13/12/2013
  • "I had booked a table for my wife's birthday and can confidently say that it was one of the best experiences we both have ever had! From the moment you enter, you are very well looked after. The service is impeccable. When it comes to the steaks, Gaucho knows best. We had the tira de ancho, which is perfect for sharing as it is 500grams. To top everything off, as the waiter found out it was my wife's birthday, He bought her a candle lit dessert which was a great touch. Thank you Gaucho for a lovely night. We will be returning! Higly recommend."
    dined on 12/12/2013
  • "Only issue with Guacho Hampstead is finding parking on Saturday night. I spent 20 mins looking for parking. With most parking allocated for permit holders until 8pm, I would advise other making a booking for after 8pm. Food was good but overpriced in my opinion and decent bottle of wine will set you back 40GBP min. I personally prefer the Gaucho at the 02 Greenwich, which seemed to have a better quality of meat but as a chain, I not sure that is an accurate assessment."
