Gaucho City Ratings and Reviews
Hosted a team dinner in Gaucho City in November 2015. Service was a litter slower than usual but I think this was because we were a larger group in a private room and the restaurant was busy. The food is always exceptional in Gauchos but I have been disappointed on occasion when they give you champagne without you asking for it and then find out it is £15 per glass on receiving the bill. Gauchos seem to do this whenever you tell them you are there to celebrate something and it is an unkind gesture which I wish they would address.
Came with my boyfriend on Tuesday night for dinner and we had an amazing experience. The food was superb, our waitress recommended the sweet corn side that was fabulous! She was very attentive and friendly without being overly stuffy. A lovely experience from beginning to end, they really make you feel special! Will certainly be back and recommend
My boyfriend and I have visited Gaucho Piccadilly a few times and we have always loved the experience for special occasions. On Friday night we visited Gaucho City and were very disappointed, to the point that we probably won't bother returning to Gaucho. The steak was ok, the sauces were watery and the refills never arrived, the sides were small and lacked flavour, the crumble we had for dessert tasted like burnt sour berries with a mm of burnt crumble and the service on the whole was pretty late and miserable. For the price Gaucho charge the service, food and experience were not up to scratch. Having said this, the host staff were very friendly and accommodating. Truly an unacceptable experience for a restaurant which is known to cater to special occasions.
Portions sizes for All Appetites !!
Well I never knew you could do so much with a piece of beef our server was very informative about their specialty of Argentina beef! Fillet, Rib Eye, Rump etc. She brought out the raw meat and told us what was what and how it was best cooked. Our American colleague was very impressed with his 500g sirloin. The marinated double lamb chop was perfectly cooked for me and the Cauliflower cheese was delicious. This restaurant is know for its Beef, but if you can't do the big portions, there are the medallion's of the fillet and rib eye for those lighter eaters who still love beef. Will definitely return for a special occasion with a larger group.
Great food, too much upselling
Having been to here and to other Gauchos a few times we knew the food should be good - and it was...all of it...however, - there was a lot of up-selling at the bar and at the table , with no mention of price until/unless prompted - when the waiter dropped gravy in my glass of wine and then replaced it with the wrong wine I was made to feel it was my fault by the waitress...funny, I thought I was paying - service was slow most of the evening; when we asked someone else for the bill after we'd been waiting, our waitress was again short with us as if it were *our* fault So the food remains very good - but this is one gaucho we won'tbe hurrying back to...very poor.
plesant evening with family
Our steak was to die for, so tasty and was cooked to perfection, our waitress was very attentive and helpful. The ambient was nice with live band singing. There was however a slight hitch at the end when we was over charge, however the problem was solve thanks to the manager.
Great restaurant, incredible food, great service
I was there with my son who was turning 18 that same day. Rosa, our waitress, was absolutely fantastic, the food was pretty much the best we had ever eaten and everything was just right. The place is expensive, but you really get good value.
Great restaurant for a fabulous steak
Good place to go with friends or on business. Lively busy restaurant, great food and amazing wines. make sure you ask the sommelier or manager to assist with wines, we were given good advice and thoroughly enjoyed the selection we had.
Lived up to expectations
This was my first ever visit to Gaucho, but I know a lot of people that have been before and have absolutely raved about the place. Therefore, on a birthday trip to London, I thought I'd treat myself. The service was excellent from the moment you walk through the door and the almost one-to-one waitressing you recieve is on point. The selection of warm breads provided whilst you look at the menu are gorgeous; espcially the two cheese varieties. Our waitress was very helpful with advice on what wine to have (as I was not familiar with Argentinian wines) and was knowledgeable on the steaks. I went for her recommendation of a marinated spiral cut of sirloin and it was to die for. My other half had the Gaucho burger and he said it was the best burger he has ever eaten. I had the special side of button mushrooms, which aren't just any mushrooms, they were so full of flavour it was unbelievable. Unfortunately our eyes were bigger than our bellies and we didn't make it through to dessert but I'd say we got to try most of the Gaucho experience. The prices aren't you average high street chain prices but you definitely get what you are paying for. We went on a Saturday night where there was a duo playing live music which was fabulous and added to the ambience. I'll definitely be going back!
Quality Food, not the best of Gauchos.
Good steak, small area, much smaller than many of other Gauchos.
A city institution but sadly not as good...
A city institution but sadly not as good as it once was! The room is dark so are all their venues. Our waitress, constantly referred to us a gents which grated after about her saying it 5 times. They don't seem genuinely interested in their customers. It all seemed rather faux. Steaks were good but nothing outstanding for the price. Better value elsewhere.
Good but SO expensive for steak and chips
I've been to Goucho's only once before and didn't understand why the bill was so high until I saw the wine list for myself this time. The cheapest bottle available (as far as I could tell) was £47 which is astonishing even in central London. That said the wine we had (£55) was lovely (as it should be) and the steak (Ribeye) was good (as it should be) but you also have to pay for every side dish. So its a good night out if you're not on a budget or someone else is paying. At the end of the day it is just steak and chips and at £80 a head that hurts. Its worth noting though the staff had a good level of knowledge about both the food and wine and they came up with some good recommendations.
Romance in the City
Excellent service, food and recommendations throughout the evening. Attentive but not at all intrusive service made for a perfect, romantic evening. Thank you very much to all at Gaucho, we look forward to our next visit and will always recommend you to others.
Great food experience, amazing steaks
went out for a business lunch and Gaucho was spot on - great service from start to finish (the lady serving us knew her thing or two about the steak!), steaks were lovely, I could not finish mine. Overall would definitely recommend. Not a cheap experience but definitely worth it
We have dined at gauchos before - so was expecting a similar experience. We ordered x3 steaks which were priced at nearly £50 each and this did not include accompyments. For the cost we all thought that the steaks lacked taste and flavour. We were all left very disappointed with the Gaucho experience, and put off visiting one of these restaurants in the near future.
I celebrated my graduation dinner. The staff was fantastic. Very friendly and patient with us while ordering the main. The meat was delicious. Our waitress, Francesca was lovely, always there to help us and recommend something for us. We were very happy after we left and the staff made the graduation celebration even more special so I would like to thank you everyone who was part of it.
Pretty decent steak here each time I visit. There was a bit of a mix up over tables and service was a bit slow, so we didn't have time for dessert, but overall service was good and food likewise.
Fantastic starter - I had the scallops and they were superb, as was the marianted Fillet steak to follow. Couldn't fault it. BUT... 1) Within 2mins (literally) of the waiters bringing out the (very tasty) bread selection, they tried to whisk it away and advised the starters were hear. I stopped one of them but in a split second another tried again, then another...frustrating. It was way to rushed. 2) the chips/fries were way to crispy and you couldn't get a fork into them to finish a third of the bowl. Not good. 3) the side order of Spinach was dull. 4) the tables - for tall people (I'm 6ft 1ns) they are difficult to get a comfortable seating position and they wobbled really badly - we almost had the wine in our laps on several occasions! For a top price steak restaurant you expect top service and experience....overall the food was excellent but the overall experience could have been a lot better....
Expensive but worth it for a special occasion
It's easy to spend £100 per head on lunch at Gaucho, but it's well worth it... The ceviche starters are delicious and the steaks are the very best you will find in London. Service is impeccable.

Went here late one Saturday night - booked about 5 minutes in advance and they had spaces. Waitress was lovely and helpful in recommendations. Me and my friend enjoyed cocktails, steak and wine. Recommend.
Gorgeous food and an amazing atmosphere.
Great quality food, priced at amazing quality food. Staff could be more attentive Overall good experience
Excellent service, amazing food, cool decor!
leaving drinks and food with colleagues, had never been...great service and decor and amazing food. Wine was delicious, Argentinian sparkling white wine (new favourite!). It was a bit pricey but then it was more booze than food and it is the City and Gaucho so that is not a negative per se. I will definitely be back to try the steak selection another time.
this place is so excellent, the staff and lovely and place is so clean and the food is so good and so value for money
Awful service ruined the evening
Made us wait 15min for an awful table despite having a free one ready and giving this to us after complaining. Felt like they were forcing us to drink at the bar while we waited. Vegetarian options surprisingly good
Very good restaurant, I recommend the scallops for starter and the fillet Lomo 300g for a main. The steaks are really big and tasty, perfectly cooked. The service was also perfect. Recommend to anyone who loves steaks
My partner and I dined at Gaucho Piccadilly a couple of years ago the restaurant was a lot more expensive than I would usually go for but the food was excellent, service was efficient and friendly. I couldn't fault it. I wrongly assumed that Gaucho City would offer a similar service. Not so, the menu was limited and service poor. I would not eat there again. I would only recommend it to someone I didn't like (only kidding I wouldn't recommend it to anyone)
Great Birthday meal at Gaucho City
I've booked Gaucho as a treat for my husband's birthday and did the restaurant know that it was a special occasion so we were given a quieter table (I guess it was easy for restaurant as it was Monday evening) and my husband was treated to a free desert which was a nice touch. The food was great, no complaints there! We will come back again for a special occasion as it's not a cheap dinner out. Thank you Gaucho team, we had a lovely evening!
Dinner for 2 at Gaucho City
Our dinner date was fab - not cheap but just a fantastic experience from start to finish. The staff were amazing and our waitress just made our evening so lovely. Now the food - wow ..... everything was explained and recommended in a knowledgable way and the results and choices far exceeded our expectations. The wine was out of this world and we were recommended an outstanding dessert wine which just topped off our meal. I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant for a special occasion and a superb dining experience. We will definitely be going back to Gaucho City.
Gaucho is a great special occasion venue as the prices are on the high side. The staff was amazingly friendly and helpful and the food is to die for!
Surpassed by others
Not as good as Hawksmoor, but just as expensive. No particular reason to go here.
Overpriced. Noisy. Slow service. Food is "ok".

As always Gaucho is good. On this occasion the service was tardy and we had to leave with a steak in a box as it took 90mins to get our mains and we had to get to a meeting! Tasted good when we ate it however... Probably the only time we will eat a £50 steak at our office desk on a conference call!
Great quality from a long-standing City favourite
I believe this particular Gaucho is the oldest one and is by far my favourite, having eaten at many of them, many times. The first thing that stands out is the service - all the staff from front of house, to bar, to waitresses were friendly, knowledgeable, attentive without overly fussing and made very good recommendations for both food and wine. It's the kind of service that is rare and makes you leave somewhere with a smile on your face, thinking about when you can next go back. The food was exactly as you'd expect from Gaucho - some delicious fish ceviche and steak tartar to start, with a delicious rump and fillet steaks with sides and sauces for our main course. Neither of us have a very sweet tooth, but once in a while like to see what's on offer but it has to be really worth it. Both of our desserts were amazing. Absolutely heavenly and not too heavy or big which can be really off putting. We probably should've just gone for a second bottle of wine, instead of the additional 4 glasses, but that's a great sign of an evening you don't want to end. All in, the bill came to approximately £100 per head, which is very good for value for the quality we received. Thanks for a lovely evening Gaucho, we can't wait to come back.

Had a good meal with excellent service! Thank you :)
enjoyable and relaxing
Evening was lovely we had a cocktail at e bar and weren't rushed to our seats when we had finished a member of staff came to seat us. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Relaxed atmosphere and live music made the evening lovel . Food and drink was delicious and cooked to perfection.
Gaucho City - rushed but good
Good food. Good cocktails. Amazing burger. Shame that the waitress rushed us out the door, bringing us the bill and coming with card machine without our requesting it. Poor form.
Great food and staff
Food was very good, nice ambience, staff were very friendly ,helpful and attentive. We are both steak lovers, so the variety on offer was great, would definitely return and recommend to friends
We are a big fan and frequent visitors to Gaucho whenever we are in London simply because the steak is amazing, the best! Excellent wines, atmosphere and very personal service make this restaurant one of the best!
Gaucho is one of my favourite restaurants and I visited the City one for the first time for my 21st birthday on 14/03/15 with 6 friends. We ordered a round of drinks and when they were brought to the table, the waitress spilled half of them all over me and a friend. It was her trial shift and we were very understanding. The waitresses apologised profusely and we were told to go to the toilet to dry under the hand dryer, only to be told 'oh I forgot there is no hand dryer'. We were sticky and smelled of alcohol. A waitress said she could take my friends jacket to be dried downstairs. At the end of the meal she had to ask 3 times before having her jacket returned. We accepted and understood that it was only a mistake made by a probably very nervous new waitress, however, we weren't offered anything more than an apology. A friend of mine had a similar thing happen at a Gaucho restaurant, and as they kicked up a fuss, they were given their meal for free. I was not expecting a free meal, but a complimentary round of drinks would have been nice and I feel that because we didn't moan and get annoyed, this was ignored
Fantastic beef but pricey and a bit slow service
The beef steaks are absolutely fantastic, juicy and tender. The service was friendly but occasionally a bit slow.
