Diner Reviews
  • "Good ambience which is in line with other Gaucho restaurants. Quality of steak is good but not as the one at Swallow Street. Don't know why the quality of the bread, which I like most in Gaucho restaurants, is not so good nowadays. Texture has changed comparing to a year ago. Probably they use different material. In general Gaucho is a name for quality which I don't hesitate to re-visit."

  • "We've been to quite a few of the Gaucho restaurants and this is definitely our favourite. The atmosphere is relaxing and very friendly. Love the free bits of bread at the beginning and the food is just delicious."

  • "Food was amazing. Service was great! Our waiter gave a great wine recommendation! Perfect evening. =)"

  • "I don't know how they mange to have tasty succulent Argentinian steaks that melt in the mouth! But they do. A good ambience with an excellent choice of food with friendly and helpful staff."

  • "Really outstanding food. Only crib was the waiter kept rushing us to order our food then took an absolute age to serve our wine. Prefer food and wine both to be served at leisurely level so that each may be enjoyed to full potential. Would go back as for so amazing to see if service was better."

  • "I have eaten at a Gauchos restaurant before so was pretty confident that I knew what to expect. Charlotte street certainly didn't disappoint and as well as superb food the service and attention we received was faultless - friendly and attentive without being intrusive."

  • "I've been lucky enought to eat at Gauchos many times before and each time it never disappoints. The food, staff and ambiance, never disappoint. Cannot wait for another visit to this incredible location."

  • "When looking at photos online of Gaucho it looks completely over the top. The reality is that with the lights dimmed the decor somehow works. The food was good but pricey, an apperatife, three courses (no coffee) and a bottle of wine set us back £110 per head."

  • "Food not up to scratch, cold chips and low quality prawn starter, for example, and slow (if charming) service."

  • "I ate at the Charlotte Street restaurant with my sister Thursday night and it was a lovely relaxed meal and the best steak I've had yet. All the staff made a fuss over us and all customers near to us as far as we could tell. The venue itself is modern with low lighting which suited us but if you really have bad eye sight, you might want to take a little key ring light or something for when you look at the menu. My sister and I managed fine reading the menu and someone brought out the steaks to talk us through them and couldn't do enough to serve us which is always appreciated. My sister was very particular about the kind of wine she wanted and again the staff were very helpful. A lovely evening. Thank you to all the staff."

  • "As we live in central London we are spoilt for choice when it comes to eating out but without a doubt, Gaucho Grill is one of our favourites. Charlotte Street has a Great Variety of Fantastic Restaurants so if you dont fancy The Juiciest, Tenderest, Argentinian, Pampas fed Steak. Cooked to perfection, then you could just take wonder on along the road for a look. Gaucho is a lively restaurant with funky music and very friendly and professional waiting staff. We always start with one of their Exquisite cocktails. The menu also includes some delicious Argentinian dishes if you want to get cultural and definitely dont leave without having a desert even if you Have to share it (though you will regret that)"

  • "My girlfriend and I went for an early dinner before the movies on a Saturday and enjoyed the churrasco do lomo, which was delicious, as were the spinach and rosemary roast potatoes side dishes. The ambience was a little staid and I'm not a fan of the cow-hide everywhere, but I came for steak and it was great."

  • "Fantastic service, beautiful food and a really nice place to hold a business meeting. We all had 3 courses plus wine, and I would certainly say it's worth every single penny. Would certainly entertain clients there again!"

  • "Let us see the menu, the food and each other. People on surrounding tables using flashlights on their phones to read the menu - not actually funny. Pretty disappointed , parted with £200 to have kids running around our table unchecked by staff. Clearly raking in the money is more important than ensuring everyone has a pleasant evening (kids from a large table, so guess lots of ££s) People looked uncomfortable because they were " meant to enjoy", couldn't see to read the menu. If you managed to get served then you lucky person...we just got patronised, when he could find the time ,the whole experience was just that, an experience. One we won't be repeating - Argentine steak is meant to be about fiesta and food .Get over yourselves."

  • "I booked a table at Gaucho's for my husband's birthday. I spoke to the restaurant the day beforehand and told them I wanted to make this a special occasion. They suggested a personal wine tasting which I thought was a wonderful idea. Sadly nothing of the sort took place on the day. My starter of baby beets was lovely but my rib eye steak (cooked medium rare as they suggested) was tough and fatty. The cheese board that followed was straight from the fridge and the dessert wine to accompany it was room temperature. To top off a disappointing experience the restaurant mistakenly added a second bottle of wine to the bill (costing £57) which we had not ordered."

  • "A brilliant night with attentive staff who were happy to explain any menu queries and suggest wine - and in particular suggest reasonable priced wine too!!!loved the whole evening - great ambience, uber cool setting - amazing cocktails"

  • "We went here for our ruby wedding anniversary. On our booking we said it was a celebration. As soon as we arrived we were congratulated by all the staff we met. We were then given two glasses of Argentinian sparkling wine while we chose our meal. The drinks were so nice we ended up buying a bottle. Service and food quality as always with Gaucho was special .On finishing our meal we were then presented with a selection of cakes on a celebration plate and another two glasses of sparkling wine. We had been to several Gaucho restaurants in London but this one was a bit quieter as it was a Sunday night and hence much more relaxed. Would certainly come back here with the rest of family on our next visit to the Capital."

  • "We had a wonderful time at Gauchos! The food was fantastic! In fact the best steak I've ever tasted! The service was outstanding! We were very well looked after! Very very impressed!"

  • "The food and wine selection was very good but the main reason to recommend Gauchos was the excellent level of attentiveness and recommendations from the service staff. Their knowledge of the steaks on offer and the wines to pair with the food was very good. I will definitely go back to Gauchos!"

  • "Striking interior design, sophisticated service, but... over-loud music in an echoey space and much too dark (seems to be a hallmark of the Gaucho Restaurant chain). Previously dined at the Sloane branch and been very impressed with the food, but ate the same dishes at Charlotte Street and all six of us were disappointed. In a restaurant whose focus is on outstanding meat, it has to be so. Steaks were just OK, but nothing special, and didn't justify their price."

  • "We went to Gaucho's in Charlotte Street for our belated Valentines meal. We were greeted by a few different people and seated quickly. We were given a display of their Steaks on a wooden board, information given on each, how the menu works and their recommendation for how each steak should be cooked to perfection. We were not disappointed! We went for 2 different options and shared the steaks. Neither of us would have picked Ribeye as we normally find it fatty and grizzly, but when cooked to perfection (Medium-Rare) it melted in your mouth and so tasty! We also went for a Fillet that had been marinated in Garlic, Olive Oil for 48 hrs- also very tasty and tender. Excellent service, ambience and would highly recommend."

  • "Always enjoy dining at Gaucho Charlotte St. My teenage son's favourite place. Fun and buzzy atmosphere and he orders the biggest steak they serve every time."

  • "Booked Gauco Charlotte street 3 weeks in advance for an anniversary celebration and to say we were disappointed was a complete understatement. The starters were utterly average and unfortunately, the highlight of the meal. Food was presented poorly and unfortunately as unappetizing on the eye as on taste buds. Rump steak ordered for main came completely rare when ordered medium and was so chewy and tasteless we sent had to send it back! The staff were helpful it must be said and offered to change the meal however at this point we didn't wish to extend our stay any longer that necessary. Considering the rather extreme price of food on offer we expected so much more. Will not be returning any time soon."

  • "I felt like a movie star from start to end, the staff were gorgeous and attentive, the ambience was spot on, the food was beautiful and the price was sufficiently enough for us to feel like we'd indulged in a blow out without leaving us to walk home. The Muzak wasn't always to my taste, but it was low enough to be ignored if needed. Overall I was a very happy valentine! As was my valentine. What more could we ask?"

  • "Been to a few different gauchos on many occasions and I think this may be my favorite 1.the service is amazing and the food fantastic.this gauchos has more of a hip feel to it due to a trendier crowd.never dissapointed and although your looking at the best part of £200 for 3 coarsest and wine I never feel shortchanged!! Defiantly recommended !!"

  • "Gaucho does not disappoint on the quality of its food or wine. Unsurprisingly is one of the few places where you can find an extensive choice of Argentinian wine and not just Malbec and Torrentes."

  • "Went with my hubby and had a lovely time. Service was very attentive, friendly and efficient. Food was very good, but obviously it's a meat eaters paradise, so wouldn't recommend if looking for good vegetarian options. Really nice atmosphere. Overall very good!"

  • "I have been there three times and I never get disappointed. Meat is always very tasty. Desserts are also great and the service is very attentive. Highly recommended."

  • "The food did not taste as well as we hoped - compared to the other branches, Gaucho Charlotte Street was extremely loud and the ambiance was not enjoyable at all. The only thing we appreciated was the service which was friendly and efficient. Everything else was not up to the standard we expected."

  • "Live in a country where good beef is hard to find, so a trip to Gaucho was a must. Great food and wine plus attentive service. But my does the bill hit home hard!"

  • "We arrived a little early, which wasn't a problem as we were immediately taken downstairs to the restaurant and enjoyed a beer and a lovely cocktail in the bar area. We were taken to our table on time and all of the staff were delightful. The quality of the steaks is excellent and the different types of meat were bought to the table and explained by a very knowledgable young lady. The food was delicious and cooked exactly right. It was a Friday night and therefore very busy, lively and noisy which was ok but not somewhere for an intimate romantic evening or to discuss business, and definitely not for vegetarians! If you like your steak I would definitely recommend Gauchos."

  • "We asked for a discreet table and were put at the most visible at the bottom of the stairs. Our drinks took a while to come and when they did they had forgotten one of them. There was no savoy cabbage on offer which we were only tokd about when we ordered it."
