Intelligent,well informed, smily staff discussed the menu and brought samples of different types of steaks (their speciality) to the table .Starters included an interesting selection of fish dishes.
Puddings were varied and a taster plate was made up for us to share amoungst all eight of us - at this stage none of us had room for a whole desert to ourselves.
Many of the wines in the wine list were expensive but at the back of the list was a sensibly priced selection of very drinkable wines which were affordable for a large group such as ours. As soon as we sat down our waiter greeted us, gave us menu's was very friendly and welcoming, he later brought over a board with all kinds of cuts of meat on there and talked up through them. It is very conveniently located if you take the ferry to Canary Wharf. Atmosphere is lovely (although quite dark) and staff was very good. We had just a small disagreement with the waiter who did not want us to order the cooking style we wanted for our meats; we complained for one steak, and it was replaced very promptly with one which was exactly what we asked for. The reason for the mark down was that it was too dark, their aim of good ambience meant it was difficult to read the menu, the waiter even spilt a glass of water on the table because he couldn't see it.
Also, beware of parking in Canary Wharf. The website says its free at the weekends if a vendor stamps you ticket however, this is no longer the case. The Gaucho staff were excellent and honoured this by recharging the cost of parking. Very good customer service.

The service is always exemplary. Its expensive, but I don't eat here regularly, once or twice a year as a treat. We were greeted like old friends, they had a complimentary glass of fizz for us as it was my partners birthday treat. I had the beetroot salad and my other half had the chorizo. I had sirloin, he had rib eye. Perfectly cooked. Delicious sides and a dessert sampler to follow. Wine was delicious, complimentary ports and we rolled our way home very happy. We will be back. The food was great and we requested more dough balls and got them instantly. Finished drinks and more came straight away. Food was well timed. Manager was also just so helpful and nice. We were really looked after here.

Just outside the restaurant, the ACU was dripping water on the glass windows/doors. The entrance counter lady took mine and my brother's coats which was really cool (but when we got it back smelling like BBQ), the ambience was brilliant, the service impressive and the decor was amazing but tables for two could have been slightly bigger. Our waitress told us what the specials was for the day but if we'd get like a specials menu (for the day) would have been nice, as I could not catch every word she said plus not knowing what the price for it was. The steaks (fillet and rib-eye) were brilliant, the deserts were amazing and soooooo tasty.
