A VERY PLEASANT EVENING, STAFF ATTENTIVE, EXCELLENT VALUE, WELL PREPARED AND COOKED

Food is great, every day meals with star quality. Staff were great and helpful. Would recommend this place to everyone as long as I can still get a table
Supper with friends
Ambience and service was important, both were excellent as was the fish and chips and chunky chips and the roast cod. Waitress was attentive and helpful. No hesitation in recommending to friends. We have eaten at the Gardeners Arms sporadically over the years and never disappointed

I eat here regularly. Always a good choice, well cooked meals at a reasonable price and friendly, efficient service. Last week's duck "shepherd's" pie a great hit.
Always a pleasure...
Once again, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Gardener's Arms. The staff are always delightful and efficient. The food is delicious and the atmosphere convivial with a nice layout. We have never been disappointed. There is also a nice area outside for sunny days. Recommended.
Great food and fantastic service .. Will be definitely coming back
A very pleasant evening in a very suitable environment with unrushed (but not slow) service. I look forward to returning before long.
Fantastic dinner here last weekend. Staff very friendly and the food fab. Will defiantly be coming back.
We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves
Went there for my father's birthday, we had a great time and enjoyed the food and drink. We would definitely go there again.
Recommended but a little pricey
Good place to eat. Nicely laid out and very clean. Enough space between you and the next table but it can accommodate quite a few so when it is busy there will be quite a few people talking. Good service, a nice range of Badger beers and a varied menu. However, some of the dishes were a bit on the pricey side but on balance, probably worth it. If you decide to eat here I would be very surprised if you come away disappointed.
As usual we had a very enjoyable meal at the Gardeners Arms made all the better for outstanding table service which was attentive but not overly intrusive. It was a Wedding Anniversary celebration only slightly spoilt buy the family of four whose children were out beyond their bedtime and thus very tired. Shame the parents weren't aware! Nevertheless we will continue to dine at this nice pub.
Warm & Friendly
A warm and friendly welcome from staff from the moment you walk in. Service extremely fast and good. Food a little expensive, but worth it. Very relaxed atmosphere.
Impromptu booking, food excellent, service good.
Our party of three each selected a different meal, each was tasty and hot with particular reference to the service provided. To be recommended for variety of dishes, if a little pricey. To be recommended.
Great outdoor eating area
Chose this to have dinner on way to Gatwick Airport and it was a great choice as it was friendly, uncomplicated with a nice ambience. We thought the food was great and the service in particular was friendly and attentive without being over-bearing. We had a range from both the main menu (fish and chips...excellent) and a delicious sea bass dish. Would definitely return.
Never disappointed when I eat at The Gardeners.
The food is very delicious and good value. The atmosphere is good and the staff are friendly and helpful. Always enjoy my visits. Thank you.
Top End Chain
The Gardeners is a chain owned pub set on the outskirts of a lovely village in Sussex. It has plenty of tables indoors and out. Generally very busy at weekends, not so during the week - evenings are especially quiet. The food has improved over the last year. There is quite a wide menu, with something to suit most. They are not, however, able to vary a dish to suit. It tends to be populated with visitors to Wakehurst Place, and the South of England showground. Locals use it for a drink. A little over-priced, but reliable quality. Staff are well trained, if a little corporate. Would visit again, but other pubs may elicit more of an, 'Oooo, yes please' than this one.
Gardeners Arms' menu is varied - great desserts
The Gardeners Arms' standard menu is not that extensive but they have a great specials board with a wide variety of interesting dishes. The dessert menu is great - nice to have a choice of desserts that differs from the standard pub fayre. I've been to the Gardeners Arms twice in a month and the food and service was consistent, so I'm sure it will become a regular haunt.

Nice spot , nice service and very good food. A relaxed dining experience and all enjoyed very much. Beef was outstanding . Recommended !
ticked all the boxes
Food was lovely, staff were friendly and attentive. The pub is lovely and cosy inside, great for a catch up with friends and/or family. Highly recommend the gardeners arms if your looking for a relaxed evening but still great food, drinks and service
Fabulous Pub, gorgeous food and very Friendly Staff. Make sure you try the Lamb Wellington...
Lovely place, lovely food
Went for our anniversary and had a lovely meal. Service was good. Only small criticsm is I had to go to the bar as waitress did not notice my empty glass for a while. Other than that, all was great.
As ever, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Gardener's Arms on Friday. The staff are always extremely helpful and friendly. The food is excellent and well presented. The atmosphere is terrific too. On this particular day, the weather was very good so there were a number of people eating outside and, with the right weather, there are plenty of tables outside in, again, a very pleasant environment. We have been to the Gardener's many times and have always found it a most enjoyable venue and we always look forward to the next visit.
My wife and I had guests from New Zealand and it was their fiftieth wedding anniversary , the gardeners was the perfect choice and being local to our home very convenient, we have become known to the staff through past visits and they are very attentive with smiley faces when they greet us , it all makes for a perfect dining experience.
A real gem
What a fantastic country pub. Great food with a good selection of daily specials. Service was excellent
We booked a table for dinner in response to an advertisement from the Gardeners Arms about the launch of their new menu. It was a surprise to find a gourmet menu in place in what is clearly now an up market country pub. Our food was excellent, the service was friendly and the ambience good - if perhaps a little noisy. My wife's Merlot complemented her pork dish superbly, my baked cod deserved a rather better quality Pinot Grigot than the one on offer. Two courses with a glass of wine each cost £56 - a very fair charge for the meal that we greatly enjoyed. Compliments to the Chef and to the front of house staff - we'll be back!
Excellent standards and value!
The Gardeners Arms continues to provide well presented, tasty food and beverage options in a comfortable and friendly environment. I have already recommended the Gardeners Arms to many of my friends and will continue to do so.
Another enjoyable visit
I have been to the Gardener's Arms on many occasions and have always enjoyed it very much. The place itself has a lovely atmosphere with a really good layout with lots of tables - some in little alcoves which is where we were with friends on this last occasion. The staff are terrific without exception and go out of their way to be helpful and friendly. The food is wonderful. Sadly they seem to have taken the 'mini-puds' off the menu which used to be a nice compromise at the end of a meal rather than having a full-sized dessert. The menu choice is good and there are usually some specials too. Everything is well cooked and presented. Highly recommended.

Nice place, very good service but unfortunately this time three out of the four of us having lunch were disappointed with our meals
A wonderful lunch with my Mother-in-law
I'd chosen the Gardeners not knowing it was one of my mother-in-law's regular haunts. They looked after us very well, the food was lovely and the location is beautiful.....and you get brownie points from your in-laws!
Cannot fault the food, nice atmosphere, good decor with lovely log fire burning, even at the end of March! Service was good, only small criticism was our waitress was new and didn't know the menu and couldn't make recommendations. We have been there many times, and since the new manager started last year, things have greatly improved. Will definitely be returning!
Once again, my friend and I very much enjoyed our visit to the Gardener's Arms. I do love the atmosphere and the staff are second to none. The baked camembert seems to have disappeared from the menu which is a shame. I'm not too fond of the chunky, non-crispy chips that come with the fish and chips but, other than that, everything I have eaten at this venue has been extremely good. The desserts are always lovely. Being a stone building, it can get a little chilly so I always try to remember a woolly! I do heartily recommend this restaurant.
Visited with a friend for a lunch which was lovely. The pub was very busy with lots of booked tables. The staff looked after us we'll never forgot us. Really nice afternoon
Great pub but...
We had lunch here last Saturday. and could not fault the service as the staff were very attentive, especially as one of our party is dairy free. The food came quickly so we didn't have to wait too long but my friend was not happy with the soggy triple cooked chips that arrived with her 'Golden Glory Beer Battered fish & chips' meal. They were advertised as "chunky triple cooked chips" but were really soggy and very unappetising. The manager offered to swap them for fries straight away but this outcome was disappointing. In the words of Heston Blumenthal triple cooked chips should have a "crispy, glass like crust" and this was definitely not the case on Saturday. Apart from this, the atmosphere was very relaxed and I would definitely visit again and recommend it to my friends and family.
Went on a Sunday evening and were the only people in the restaurant. really good and service. will defo be going back.
The move from traditional-country to gastro pub has taken another step - not sure if that is entirely a good thing. But the food has definitely improved, though the 'themed' presentation is getting a bit tacky, and the curtains have been upgraded. Still a nice environment, but some 'art work' is incongruous and the cold from the thoughtless operation of the ancient lobby doors on a winter evening remains a problem. The jolly, though efficent service is one aspect of the original place that hasn't changed. The jury is still out as to the long-term positioning of the business.
Wow! Great food, great location, great staff, great building!! The gardeners arms really is the perfect mix of old world pub and great contemporary food, I've never had a bad meal or experience at the gardeners arms, highly recommended to anyone.
I've been to the gardeners arms Several times and never been let down! The food is amazing as well as the staff that are extremly friendly and welcoming!! Which makes dinning here even more enjoyable. I would happily recommend the gardeners arms to anyone who is looking for a lovely meal for any occasion!! One of my favourite restaurants/pubs in the area!! They also have incredible wine glasses!
This was our first visit to the Gardeners Arms
We made our visit from a recommendation from our Son. We took a couple of friends who had also never been before. The Menu choice was very good, the service was also very good. We were delighted with our food choices, however I must comment on my Lamb Wellington, I found the lamb very tough, and it was a little embarrassing trying to cut through in front of our friends. The dessert choices were also very good, we all opted for Sticky Toffee Pudding, which we all enjoyed immensely, we suggested to the waitress that they should supply a spatula to scrape the plate! I would recommend The Gardeners Arms to friends and Family
Have been here a few times and have always been impressed with the variety and quality of the food. Service was good and very friendly. The food was delicious and really nicely presented. Pudding selections were fantastic. Will definitely visit again.
Dinner at The Gardener's Arms
My husband and I visited The Gardener's Arms at lunchtime last week and had a thoroughly enjoyable meal. We pre booked the table as it does become very busy in there and we have been disappointed in the past as the restaurant has been full. The menu is very varied and caters for all tastes. There are plenty of vegetarian options. The service was excellent with just the right amount of time left between courses. We really felt looked after. It is a relaxed atmosphere and you feel you could sit there all afternoon and no-one would mind. It is a place we would go for a special occasion too as the food is really good and all cooked freshly on the premises. I thoroughly recommend this restaurant.
