GambaExcellent mealTitle says it all..not particularly cheap, but when food and service is that good...who cares?17/05/2013 00:00:00Recommend it!Food tasted great and was cooked well. Service was great. Staff were attentive, polite and friendly. We ordered food from the pre-theatre menu and was impressed with the quality and quantity. We had the fish soup for a starter and it was delicious and meaty. It had Portland crab meat in it which gave it a nice texture. For mains, we had the hake and the salmon which were both good. For dessert we shared the warm chocolate cake which wasn't too sweet or rich but tasted very good. Worth the money! Will definitely be going back at some point.13/05/2013 00:00:00excellent fish and flawless serviceOur experiece at Gamba matched its excellent reputation. We booked about a week ahead for a Tuesday evening. Seated immediately and offered water (still or sparkling) and menus.Soft lighting and comfortable seating.Difficult to choose from all the appealing starters and mains. Everything we ordered was excellent with only one exception (a side of broccoli was perfectly cooked but swimming in a too-sweet soy sauce; simple butter would have been a better match for the fish mains. Knowledgeable staff helped us choose by describing the preparations, wines and whiskys. We appreciate the commitment to sustainable, in season and local/regional sourcing and would be happy to return.07/05/2013 00:00:00One of many past visits toOne of many past visits to Gamba and I can honestly say that I an never disapointed. Great staff.26/04/2013 00:00:00consistently goodTook 3 friends who had never been to Gamba and they all thoroughly enjoyed it. Had the crab and ginger soup which had a lovely rich deep flavour with plenty of crab. Had the sole thermidor which was also wonderfully cooked and had a very tasty sauce. Would go back in a heartbeat and definitely recommend a visit to anyone if you like to eat fresh, wonderfully cooked food.20/04/2013 00:00:00great food but priceyWe found the food and service was excellent but it was expensive. The pre theatre menu was good value , we will be going back04/04/2013 00:00:00Superb fish delights!!We had a wonderful meal - being 'fishophiles' and cook a lot ourselves we often feel a bit let down in restaurants, thinking we do better!! Not at Gamba - every course was a delight. Beautifully cooked with simple, but perfect, presentation. Lovely ambience too!!
No doubt we will go back next time we are in Glasgow.

Service is excellent and food superb. The menu is a delight to those who enjoy eating fish cooked perfectly.16/03/2013 00:00:00Mother's Day was extra specialEasily booked using Toptable booking app. Lovely ambience and very polite waiting staff. There was a special Mother's Day menu which included a complimentary glass of wine and the choices made it difficult to choose only one dish. We were brought canapes and a jug of water and daughters Bloody Mary was to her liking. The food was piping hot and delicious and had us tasting each other's as it was all so well presented. The coffee was served with homemade tablet which was yummy and to our delight, we were each given a small gift wrapped bag of it to be taken home. We were also given a complimentary Gamba cookbook as we were leaving. It was a beautiful meal and with so many small surprises which kept delighting us. We will definitely return.10/03/2013 00:00:00Good all round.Staff were very accommodating when we phoned to say we were arriving half an hour late, despite the restaurant being full. Food was first class and wine list reasonable. Would recommend to anyone. The manager was very generous in giving us two gifts of a Gamba cook book in place of one when the manager enquired if we had two mothers present.10/03/2013 00:00:00Excellent food and serviceA great find - highly recommended. Lovely staff, amazing food (I had the fish soup and Lobster Thermidor with chips) and very refreshing to go somewhere they don't automatically stick a 10% plus service charge on the bill!08/03/2013 00:00:00The food and service wereThe food and service were second to none, helpful attentive staff without being in your face. The lobster Thermidor is so delicious as was the chilli prawn and crab cocktail. But everything on the menu looked amazing. I'll be back!15/02/2013 00:00:00St Valentines at GambaFrom the minute we arrived till the minute we left ; the service was fautless and attentive. The food was fresh and delicious.14/02/2013 00:00:00Had an excellent meal thoughHad an excellent meal though at £23 for a bottle of wine a bit steep.08/02/2013 00:00:00Outstanding!I had fish soup and grilled seabass. Both were very good. I felt the restaurant used high standards of ingredience. Staff were attentive and friendly. I will strongly recommend this restaurant to my friends!08/02/2013 00:00:00Glasgow's best seafood restaurant. Now independent of the Urban Group, Gamba goes on defining the standard to which others aspire. Their fish soup is as close to perfection as I am likely to experience in this life and everything else lives up to the expectation that the soup inspires.30/01/2013 16:00:00OutstandingWent to Gamba for the first time and had a superb meal. The best fish restaurant I have ever been to.28/01/2013 16:00:00Lunch ReviewMy wife and I enjoyed our lunch very much.
Service, attention to small details and overall excellent cooking was experienced.
We will return!28/01/2013 16:00:00Pre theatre dinnerWe had a great meal in Gamba on a cold and wet January evening. The welcome was warm when we arrived and the restaurant was heated so we felt comfortable and decorated beautifully. The staff were friendly and the service was excellent with clear explanations of the menu. The pre theatre menu which we selected was really good value as it included a glass of good quality wine. The food was prepared to a very high standard , delicious flavours and the portions were generous.27/01/2013 16:00:00A wonderful seafood dinnerAn excellent dining experience - friendly and professional service, excellent Scottish produce cooked with skill and served with style. Altogether a highly recommended restaurant, possibly the best of its kind in Glasgow.27/01/2013 16:00:00The wonder of FishWhen ever I am in Gladgow I like to have at least one visit to Gamba. The Yellowfin Tuna with pickled ginger & wasabi is very special. For my mains a super piece of Hake cooked to perfection with brown shrimp, hazelnuts & Lilliput capers. I usually end with cheese but was recommended the Lemon Posset with Stewed Apple - very refreshing. If you enjoy fish this is the place to go21/01/2013 16:00:00A Superb Dining ExperienceOn entering Gamba, the immediate reaction, is one of feeling valued, as a customer. The Manager &Staff are attentive in a quiet, efficent manner, taking your coats & leading the way to the table. First impressions are so important & the surroundings are strikingly attractive in their simplicity, with a warm glow of subtle lighting. The table settings are tastefully done, with gleaming cutlery & glassware & proper napkins starched white, which cover your knees! The menu for the pre-theatre meal, offers a good choice of either two, or three courses. The food is beautifully presented, balanced in content & tastes superb. Unusually for such quality, the helpings are generous & terrific value for the price. Even the loo would impress you! Wow!21/01/2013 16:00:00Ladies who LunchArrived 15 mins late for booking ( too much chatting ) Not a problem! No stern disapproving faces. Just courtesy and friendliness throughout. Attentive but not intrusive Food superb as always Not my first visit. Have been few times but always with a "First Timer" all of which were as impressed as I always am. Bit of a gushing review but have to say it like it is. Fish Soup has to be tasted, and it is served 'HOT' ' unlike some Restuarants were I find the soup can be 'Luke warm'
Will be back ASAP15/01/2013 16:00:00Excellent all round.Gamba continues to set the standard for all other Glasgow restaurants to follow. Service, atmosphere and food was excellent as usual. I have nothing but praise for Gamba, myself and my wife always look forward to going to Gamba.11/01/2013 16:00:00Birthday DinnerHad my birthday dinner at Gamba last Saturday. Started with the coldest, smoothest vodka Martini ever. Had a lovely bottle of Gavi during the meal. Sashimi of Yellow fin Tuna and shrimp / prawn / crayfish cocktail to start - both delicious. Hake with almonds and whole sea bream to follow and 1 lemon posset with stewed apples (and 2 spoons) for dessert. Coffee & homemade tablet and warmed brandy finished off a perfect meal. Our waitress was a delightful young woman. Lighting romantic and music at just the right level. Definitely my favourite place for a celebration11/01/2013 16:00:00As good as ever.Gamba's reputation as probably the best fish restaurant in Glasgow is well deserved. The food never fails to impress. The service is fast, friendly and attentive without being ove rthe top. Highly recommended for that special occasion.28/12/2012 16:00:00A special seafood treatGo to gamba every christmas eve as a treat once a year and this makes it special.
The food is great, mostly seafood, although there is a meat and veggie dish available too.
Great relaxing atmosphere and very attentive staff.
The soup starter is delicious, and a very generous portion size too.
Great for couples.23/12/2012 16:00:001st ClassNice location, close enough to city centre to be a short, accessible walk from Queen Street and Central railway stations, yet, far enough from the hoards of shoppers that make Glasgow the retail capital of Scotland.
Staff were attentive and professional. A well-oiled machine.
Fabulous menu options. I opted for the monkfish and scallops, steamed with ginger, soy and spring onions accompanied by Pinot Grigio. A simple, yet deliciously prepared dish - fish as it should be. Would strongly recommend way before any other fish restaurant in Glasgow.20/12/2012 16:00:00A truly wonderful experience. This is an exceptional restaurant, from its warm ambiance to its excellent customer service and its extraordinary dishes bursting with flavor, complemented by some fine wine.
