Galvin La ChapelleDinner at Galvin La ChapelleThe restaurant is in a converted chapel that has been fitted with modern steel and glass. I thought it was architecturally very attractive. The service was polite and helpful, but I found the waiters were a little over-attentive, for instance coming to ask if we were ready to order or if we had finished a course a little more quickly than I'm used to. I had the duck rillette to start, which was served with toasted bread and was very tasty. The roast beef was also good, but for me the highlight was the chocolate ganache for dessert, which was wonderfully rich and came with a generous piece of honeycomb.05/05/2013 00:00:00DeliciousHad Sunday lunch here for my birthday. The food was great, very attentive staff and nice relaxed atmosphere with a band providing sims background jazz. Cannot recommend highly enough!05/05/2013 00:00:00Outstanding Sunday LunchMe and a couple of friends had lunch here to celebrate the launch of a book. I also brought along my rambunctious 16-month old daughter which I thought was going to be a nightmare however the helpful staff selected toys for her from their toy table and that kept her somewhat occupied. The food was absolutely outstanding. We chose from the 3-course set menu and each course was simply to-die-for! There was also soft, live jazz music playing in the background. The service was superb. I'd highly recommend this venue for any occasion, it is probably the best restaurant in the area and together with their Mayfair branch, it ranks amongst my top 5 in London.05/05/2013 00:00:00Excellent mealBeautiful space, service was tip top, each course meticulously presented and an outstanding cheese trolley to boot. Loved every part of our meal and hope to return soon. Only downside? It's certainly not 'diet food'. . .but we'll take the foie gras anyway.02/05/2013 00:00:00Amazing food and Great service. The food tasted amazing, probably the best Roast beef I've ever had, and the chocolate ganache desert was devine. Overall a brilliant balance of flavours demonstrating some great skill. The food was elegantly presented and the portions were generous. It was surprisingly quiet that evening given the reputation a Galvin restaurant has, but it could be just because it was early on a Sunday evening (and it did start to fill up a lot more later on). Having said that it meant the service was impecable, so would highly recommend it to anybody who wants to impress or anybody who just enjoys very very good food. And given the quality of the food and service, I would have expected the bill to come out to a lot more, but was pleasantly surprised.28/04/2013 00:00:00Go if money is no objectA lovely meal out: not cheap by any means but we felt pampered and ate extremely well with the tasting menu. The food was served in small but delicious portions - the crab lasagne and the tarte tatin were outstanding. The staff were incredibly helpful, polite and efficient (with a £58 tip added on to the bill as a "discretionary amount" that is nothing less than we could have expected.) The building itself is beautiful and the atmosphere is great - not too noisy but lively enough to feel like an occasion. I would recommend this place for business meetings or if you have a special occasion to celebrate.27/04/2013 00:00:00LovelyFor a Michelin Star restaurant, the atmosphere was lovely and buzzy rather than quiet and protentious. The food was lovely and the selection was good. Outstanding service as expected. I would definitely go back and would recommend to others.26/04/2013 00:00:00Went for a special occasionWent for a special occasion - I love the interior decor and the service was attentive (perhaps a little overly so!)23/04/2013 00:00:00Great as alwaysOutstanding food, great venue - we had the perfect dining experience at Galvin!20/04/2013 00:00:00Service excellent, food delicious,Service excellent, food delicious, but portion size varied enormously causing much order envy! Went for Sunday lunch and while the roast beef was excellent (and a decent portion) the roast pork, whilst tasty, consisted of three tiny round slices of pork loin, about 1cm thick, but just 2cm wide. Essentially three mouthfulls. They more than made up for it with pudding; my almond financier was deeeelish.14/04/2013 00:00:00Excellent ServiceI took my husband here for his birthday and we really enjoyed it. The service was great and the venue was stunning. We had the Menu Gourmand with wine pairings. It was lovely, but it ended up being too much wine for me (so not the best option for lightweights). I would definitely go back to try the other menu.13/04/2013 00:00:00Lovely food in a lovely settingThis is the second time my husband and I have eaten at Galvin La Chapelle, and the second visit was every bit as good as the first, the staff are so nice, you feel very welcome and the food is just exquisite, it is faultless in my opinion, the pork was melt in the mouth tender and the chocolate dessert was divine, the wine was a very nice Tempranillo and we were never left with an empty glass, but didn't feel the glasses were being filled quickly so we might buy another bottle, which happens, all the service was paced perfectly, despite the restaurant being very busy, I'd go back in a heartbeat, in fact I definitely will be returning07/04/2013 00:00:00Simply brilliantSuperb food in a wonderful environment and served by a knowledgeable and attentive team. We should all go to Chapelle more often!! A truely 5 star experience06/04/2013 00:00:00Very good food, great wine,Very good food, great wine, excellent service and a fabulous building.
We went on a Saturday evening and despite it being busy, we were looked after all night without being rushed.
This restaurant is not cheap, but it is worth it for the overall experience.06/04/2013 00:00:00Great service - friendly butGreat service - friendly but efficient. Food was good too, although simplified compared to some of the complex dishes we've had at other previously Michelin starred restaurants. Great wine, and a pleasant building too.06/04/2013 00:00:00Great FoodIMO, this is one of the best food near the bank area.05/04/2013 00:00:00The Best dining experienceGalvin La Chapelle was the best dining experience me and my girlfriend have ever experienced! The food and service were both excellent! I would strongly recommend.05/04/2013 00:00:00Brilliant as alwaysMy little Baby had the red mullett and I had the guinea foul with truffles (which I found a bit strong in taste). All in all, a great experience. Thank you. Would recommend02/04/2013 00:00:00A great serviceA fantastic restaurant with very good food and wines, the barman was very nice, as well as all the staff.
Sunday is fantastic value for money.31/03/2013 00:00:00Sunday lunch a bit noisyThe food is excellent, on account of this being a Michelin starred restaurant, and the "fixed price Sunday Lunch" is reasonable value if you don't have any "extras" like wine or coffee. Meal was marred by the fact that our table was right next to a band so for most of the time we couldn't hear what we were saying but if you are at a table further away it will probably not be an issue. You will struggle to find a bottle of wine for less than 25 quid, and the majority are over 35 quid which is just too much considering you can get an extremely good bottle of wine for less than a tenner at any wine merchant.31/03/2013 00:00:00Beautiful building fantasticBeautiful building fantastic food. Worth the money.29/03/2013 00:00:00Galvin La ChapelleSuch a beautiful restaurant...but beauty that isn't skin deep. The food is fabulous, the service wonderful and extremely friendly and they helped make my husband's birthday very special...such a great place.27/03/2013 00:00:00Superb - as alwaysThe staff at Galvin La Chapelle were brilliant as always. We couldn't get a babysitter so we took my 4 month old and he slept through the entire experience. They are child friendly but I wouldn't take a child there - it's a great place for business meetings and romance. My husband is a vegetarian with nut allergies and they created a dish for him as the only vegetarian dish had peanuts. I can't rate the place highly enough for delicious food and professional, friendly service. They also did a lovely birthday plate with petit fours for my mother which was appreciated. If you're on a budget they have fantastic options or don't hesitate to try Cafe A Vin next door.20/03/2013 00:00:00Birthday lunchService was exemplary. Food a good standard but slightly lacking for a Michelin star restaurant. The wine was comprehensive and the staff helpful. My husband felt that his guinea fowl was lacking in flavour. We all agreed that the cheese board was worth waiting for. Would certainly try their bistro which is attach to the restaurant.18/03/2013 00:00:00Lovely restaurantWe came to Galvin La Chapelle for their Sunday lunch menu. The restaurant was beautiful and very convenient for Spitalfields market. The restaurant was fairly busy but staff were attentive and friendly. We enjoyed a special 3 course meal which is very reasonably priced and was delicious. There was an added bonus of live jazz in the background which made the lunch even more enjoyable and at no point were we rushed to vacate our seats. Definitely worth a visit, especially given their credentials.17/03/2013 00:00:00Great food & beautiful surroundingsThis was my second time dining at La Chapelle, I took my mother this time, for her birthday, and it didn't disappoint. We were well looked after from the moment we were greeted. The building is stunning inside, the architecture of the roof incredible, We dined from the a la carte menu, and it was delicious and well presented. We had a small carafe of white wine, which was excellent, and worked well with the meal. I would recommend La Chapelle if you are a large group or a couple, the space is large enough to cater for both. Go you wont be disappointed.13/03/2013 00:00:00Delicious Menu GourmandHaving tried various sampling menus I founs La Chapelle to be amongst the best. The variety and attention to detail as well as the dishes being well thought out proved for a very enjoyable night out. The wine pairings selection also proved to be an excellent choice with some wines I wouldn't ordinarily have chosen being presented and throughly enjoyed.
I would especially recommend "foodies" to experience this selection menu.
The venue despite being busy was interesting and gave an air of calm. The staff were attentive but not overly so and both the waiters and sommelier explained the dishes and wines well.
A place I intend to re-visit.08/03/2013 00:00:00Dinning at Galvin La ChapelleDinning at Galvin La Chapelle was an all round experience, the atmosphere was good, the service and staff were great and the food was incredible. We booked for a special celebration and decided on the seven course taster menu paired with wine. We had a really attentive waitress who was very knowledgable about the food and a fantastic semelier who was very accommodating, particularly as we had someone in the party who couldn't drink red wine. All wines matched perfectly, were very interesting and enjoyable. It was an expensive meal, but highly worth it for a celebration/treat. I would definitely recommend going and would really love to go again. A real must for people that love superb food.08/03/2013 00:00:00Awesome combination of food + winenot to mention the top class service and stunning interior08/03/2013 00:00:00Simply beautiful...You can't help it but fall in love with La Chapelle!
The restaurant is just stunning, the waiters, managers, sommelier and obviously the chefs know their trade. The service is solid and the food is just what you would expect from a Michelin starred restaurant.
Fantastic wine list and in summer you can dine al fresco.
There is no messing around at La Chapelle, they are professionals!08/03/2013 00:00:00Absolutely fantastic! My boyfriend and I had lunch at La Chapelle on Sunday and were blown away by the excellent and friendly service and of course the food was out of this world. I had the crab lasagna, roast beef and chocolate ganache all of which were beautifully presented and tasted so good. I will definitely be back to sample more of the menu!03/03/2013 00:00:00Had a simply wonderful diningHad a simply wonderful dining experience at the Galvin on Saturday night. We were show to a great corner table where we had a great view out across this stunning restaurant. Staff were helpful to the point that changes to the tasting menu for my partner was accompanied with no fuss and she still got her own personalised printed menu. The signature crab lasagne set the tone for a journey through some great dishes which in the main were stand-out excellent and looked the part too! The staff were faultless to a man and the dining experience was one I am looking forward to repeating.02/03/2013 00:00:00Birthday partyThe four of us had a lovely evening, but it was a little embarrassing that the main course for one of us was so salty that it had to go back, and another one got a green salad that was also so salty it had to go back too. The service was great other than the fact that there was no recognition of this issue at the end in any shape or form and it does leave me concerned for the next time. Shame, because the ambiance is lovely, tables spacious with sufficient room between so that you don't feel you are being overheard by the those next to you. And the wine was exquisite, the cocktails really good with great bar service, very pleasant staff - not overbearing, and very good food when not too salty!26/02/2013 00:00:00Fantastic time!A great lunch at la chapelle. The food was amazing, service even better if at all possible. I would come back!24/02/2013 00:00:00Excellent food, great qualityExcellent food, great quality and execution. Portions are on the small side though, a bit more wouldn't harm! Venue is great, and service flawless.22/02/2013 00:00:00Lovely food in lovely surroundingsMy partner took me here for our anniversary and it was everything I'd hoped for and more! Beautiful building, the service was wonderful and the food was delicious. The staff are only too happy to help and it was a really lovely evening.22/02/2013 00:00:00Had the set lunch with myHad the set lunch with my wife & 16 year old son who we'd promised a Michelin-starred experience to after his stunning GCSE results.
None of us were disappointed - this was food cooked to perfection, served with pride in beautiful surroundings.
The stand out dish was the lamb main course - it was was simply divine & the recommended wine complimented it perfectly.
So, 3 courses of heavenly food & all for a very reasonable price.
We look forward to going back!21/02/2013 00:00:00My churchEverything at Galvin la Chapelle was perfect, i can't believe that it has taken me so long to find it!15/02/2013 00:00:00A great evening! We had booked for six people but on the evening only four of us could make it. The staff were most understanding and gave us a great table on the balcony. The food was excellent, the service polite and helpful - we have all been to French restaurants where the staff are very snooty- not so here! The wine list was a pleasure and the evening a great success. We did not take the "Top Table" deal but the final bill was not over the top.
We cannot wait to go back.15/02/2013 00:00:00Amazing signature dishesExcellent! We had the menu degustacion with pairing wines and it was amazing. Excellent ambience and great service15/02/2013 00:00:00Little ChapelA fabulous eatery tucked away a short walk from Liverpool Street. Ambience was lovely.
Service was great too.
I would recommend to my friends to go there!03/02/2013 00:00:00SUPERB!That is the one of the words i would say to describe La Chapelle, outstanding service quality food, and the special menu at £29.50 is really good value for money at that price why eat any where else?02/02/2013 00:00:00Everything was 5 stars!Everything was good and the menu option with wine included seems to be unbeatable.26/01/2013 16:00:002nd visit2nd visit to this stylish restaurant. Very friendly efficient staff. Excellent food, service and atmosphere. We were on the £38.50 for 3 courses (with wine) which gave a good interesting selection to choose from.
Cocktails at £9. It was very good value for money and a brilliant evening.26/01/2013 16:00:00We Really enjoyed the tastingWe Really enjoyed the tasting menu. The food was very good and whilst not exceptional, we felt it was very good value for what we received. We also had the wine accompaniment and felt they paired the wines well with the food and had clearly thought this through. We would certainly recommend this to friends and others wishing to have nice evening out in London.25/01/2013 16:00:00Galvin La Chapelle is excellentGalvin La Chapelle was a brilliant restaurant. The early bird dining offer also made it affordable. The service was faultless.24/01/2013 16:00:00
