A word from Galvin Bistrot de Luxe
Marylebone restaurant Galvin Bistrot de Luxe was the first in the hugely successful Galvin stable, and the first to win the Galvin brothers their reputation of outdoing the French at classic bistro cooking. Critics and customers consistently rate the top quality French cuisine and affordable prices - the prixe fixe menus represent particularly good value, especially for this chichi area of London. Chef patron Chris Galvin and head chef Luigi Vespero have created an appealing seasonal menu with plenty of French bistro classics and, along with efficient and professional bow-tied staff, have created a very reliable dining destination you’ll be coming back to again and again. Décor at Galvin Bistrot de Luxe is elegant and pared back – leather banquettes and mahogany panelling line the walls and the atmosphere is always bustling – perfect for enjoying full-flavoured French dishes like crab lasagne, garlicky snails, wonderfully soft braised pork cheeks.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Very good standard of food and service. I ordered something with pork by mistake, completely my fault, and they took it off the bill which was above and beyond what expected. The restaurant is very cosy and informal, I would definitely recommend it."

  • "Went to Galvin Bistrot de Luxe for the first time for Sunday lunch. We were a group of three with a child. We chose the restaurant's menu which had a wider choice than the TT menu. My friend liked the oyster starter and the salmon starter was good. We had roast beef for main course. It was a very big portion and the beef was good quality. The waitresses were quite busy. Service was fair but not perfect. Overall, the food was brilliant and the service was also acceptable."

  • "Lunch time set menu deal offers good value. Lovely setting and decor with excellent service. I love all the Galvin restaiurants and would thoroughly recommend this to people as a great special occassion restaurant."

  • "Given this is off Baker Street, it was a nice cosy place. Attentive staff and excellently cooked food. My liver was well presented and tasty, whilst my friends Spanish pork was presented medium rare which I did not realise pork could be cooked that way and was equally delicious. Great food, would go again."

  • "We took advantage of the pre-theatre fixed price menu which proved to be great value with very good food. Service was attentive and prompt, which meant that we were able to have a tasty meal and meet our deadline to get to the event in good time."

  • "Friendly and attentive service, fantastic food and outstanding value with the spring set menu. Would highly recommend."

  • "Booked for a pre theatre around Baker Street, not an area I know well for restaurants. Galvin both Windows and La Chapelle are knock out. Strunning value pre theatre pris fixe menu with service to match that of michelin starred abodes. Bread truly French, all round top notch."

  • "Lovely ambience and service but portion sizes very minimal even for an offer"
    dined on 28/03/2014
  • "Had a great meal at Gslvin Bistrot Deluxe . Very French cuisine but no frites available! We were offered mashed potatoes instead! We preferred the restaurant for a lunch booking as it was quieter and had a younger crowd. Steak tartare was outstanding; sweet with fillet steak and sour with crunch cornichons."
    dined on 26/03/2014
  • "Made a booking, arrived and it hadn't been recorded. Showed my e-mail confirmation and they accommodated us no problem. Food was impeccable throughout the night however the service started to deteriorate as the staff whimpered to the large 'Business' party that arrived shortly after us. Wasn't offered any coffee after our final course and the bill was presented to us without even clearing the final courses dishes."

  • "Exemplary service, a fantastic meal and a great evening. I would highly recommend this restaurant for any occasion, simply brilliant."

  • "This is a restaurant that will never disappoint, I have always had very good food here and every now and then, like my last visit, I have a meal that is just brilliant. Love this place."
    dined on 26/02/2014
  • "A really welcoming buzz as your enter the restaurant, but it's not intrusive. Highly rate this place for ambience, great food and service. Hard to beat in the area."
    dined on 27/02/2014
  • "Lovely food really nice reasonable wine list really loved the lunch go go go"
    dined on 16/02/2014
  • "I've eaten here at least a dozen times because its one of my few top favourites. So i was a little disappointed to discover that the message of how important it is for men to look and smell good, that is shouted to us from bill board and tv screen across the world, seems to be ignored by certain members of the food service industry, because this can put a restaurant's reputation at risk. There is always a time and place for male musk, but hovering over the dinner table is not one of them, the only smells me and my party want to savour are the food and wine; but when this competes with something else, the quintessential dining experience of one of the greatest eating establishments in London is lost, next time I hope will be better!"

  • "Everything was very good at Galvin Bistrot de Luxe. I wish they didn't put the tables so close together. You can hear word for word the conversation on the 'next' table you might as well be sitting on the same table. A shame as it would stop me going back."
    dined on 16/02/2014
  • "We had a lunch on Sunday afternoon. Lunch is very reasonable and taste was so good!!"
    dined on 16/02/2014
  • "An excellent prix fixe menu for a business lunch. Attentive, unobtrusive service and a well priced wine list."
    dined on 11/02/2014
  • "had the table we wanted everyone attentive - attention to detail"
    dined on 13/02/2014
  • "Always lovely, great french food. Nice place for a special occasion or just a nice dinner on a week night."
    dined on 12/11/2013
  • "Service excellent and the waitress was very knowledgeable aboout the menu and how everything was cooked. She understood tht we wanted to enjoy food that you would not cook at home. The food was excellent and good depth, rather than the usual where it is "heavy on style, lacking in substance"."
    dined on 10/01/2014
  • "great food great service does what it says on the tin"
    dined on 08/02/2014
  • "We had a £29.50 course. Very good value for money and love the cozy, nice ambience."
    dined on 06/02/2014
  • "Wholesome food, friendly service and relaxed setting. Not as upscale as its sister, Galvin La Chapelle, but then that is reflected in the price. Great to have as a neighbourhood local."
    dined on 02/01/2014
  • "...with the service and setting. The food was really great altough the pork we had was lacking in 'meat' flavour, but that was a minor thing and none couldn't have tinted our evening there!"
    dined on 02/02/2014
  • "Good value, we need up ordering off the A la Carte, good choices on the set menu, would have been helpful to have more than 2 choices is my only constructive feedback. Staff, presentation , quality of food , service all great , good place"
    dined on 31/01/2014
  • "Really lovely second visit for 'treat' lunch. FABULOUS crab lasagne starter, and good fish. My friend had a delicious terrine and also fish. Really like the atmosphere, and although a treat with a couple of glasses of wine and excellent coffee, didn't wince when I got the bill"
    dined on 31/01/2014
  • "It's difficult to find fault with this place. The service, as always, is friendly and professional and the food remains very well prepared and very nicely presented. The set menu is very good value for money."
    dined on 01/02/2014
  • "Lovely little bistro on Baker street, the food was amazing. Hubby had calves liver and I had the guinea fowl, these were the best either of us ever had. We shared the babaganush for dessert, brilliant. Will be a staple for us going forward I think. Service was excellent too."
    dined on 12/01/2014
  • "I booked the table with what was billed as a toptable exclusive offer but when I got there the offer was in the regular menu that any diner could have so not sure why it was 'exclusive'. That aside, the food was just what I wanted on a rainy December evening. The service was attentie without being pushy and the wine list although a tad expensive for a bistro was well thought out. Would go back again..."
    dined on 16/12/2013
  • "The expected atmosphere of a bustling Bistro was missing because of the shortage of customers. Although unannounced as a birthday dinner the staff recognised the occasion and provided a candle with the desert- thoughtful and helpful staff. Oysters were declared good by the granddaughters and I enjoyed my correctly served Escargot and was then inveigled to try the most exotic dish - Caramalised Calves Brain with excellent Mousseline potatoes .- not an everyday dish but worth the try. The Tarte Tatin was excellent as a desert."
    dined on 26/01/2014
  • "Always good option for a speedy business lunch. Never disappointed."
    dined on 24/01/2014
  • "I've been three times and the quality remains the same. The staff are extremely helpful, attentive but not overly so. The sommelier gives great advice without making you feel you should take the highest price and the food is always first rate. When I'm taking clients out, I know I can trust Galvins not to let me down"
    dined on 23/11/2013
  • "Excellent innovative Sunday lunch menu at Galvin le bistrot. It was quiet to start with as we were early for lunch on Sunday, but it soon got busier. Polite and attentive staff. Will be back."
    dined on 19/01/2014
  • "Two of us choose the fixed price lunch and knew before we started that wine, coffee and optional service will push it up, quite a bit. Never the less excellent value, with first rate service and food . fourth visit for me and the twelfth for my lunch pal.....says it all!!"
    dined on 16/01/2014
  • "There was only a choice of 2 options per course but the food was good. It was quite noisy and we were fairly well packed in so not recommended for romance!"
    dined on 16/01/2014
  • "Three of us had previously eaten at Galvins and had been most impressed by the quality of the food and the service. I was a first timer ! However none of us fancied the Table D' Hote and chose from the A La Carte. The choice I had of steak was to my liking! The servings were not large but yet we were pleasantly full! I think a wider choice of vegetables would have been good. I would like to return in the future possibly to another branch."
    dined on 08/01/2014
  • "I had the lunchtime fixed price menu. Absolutely delicious and excellent value at 3 courses under £20. My husband chose his lunch from the regular menu and although that was more expensive it was worth it due to the excellent quality of the food. Definitely recommend Galvins to friends."
