The table was well situated by the window, and the service was impeccable. Despite turning up an hour earlier than booked, the restaurant manager had the table ready within 5 minutes of asking. When I told the staff about the birthdays, they surprised us with a cup cake and sparkler. The staff is super friendly and efficient, the 50's ice cream parlour décor is great and the food presentation beautiful. Shame there's no music, but apart from that it's a unique experience I'd recommend to anyone (contrary to one might thinks, it's not stuffy) despite the steep bill. There's no dress code but they recommend "tending towards elegance", but even my "T-shirt and jeans" son didn't feel intimidated. Loved it. They will quite happily bring you more of anything you like eg more sandwiches or scones. They also do a gorgeous gluten free option.

My friend called ahead and to advise them it was my birthday, and they very kindly tied helium balloons to our table, put a candle in my sundae and the staff all sang Happy Birthday!! The service was excellent and the staff very friendly, and it was certainly a pleasant surprise they got involved in my brithday. The Palour has a reputation for the best sundaes in London for good reason! I had the 26 miles, 385 yards and it was divine! Highly recommend The Parlour for a yummy treat. We also had lunch (Chicken & Bacon Stack and the Swiss Mushroom Melt), which I wouldn't recommend, but for a sundae, it doesn't get any better. Everything was well presented, the table was comfortable and we all really loved the ice-cream desserts, which were fabulous ! The first courses were not spectacular, but they were OK. The person showing us to our seats lacked the smile factor, but she was efficient. Neither the coffee, nor the milk accompanying it were hot, so that is a minus. I love the atmosphere and the quality of the experience. We visited for a long weekend at half-term and lunch at The Parlour was 'going out on a high' for us. I was very keen to treat my partner and step-daughter, particularly to show off the mini ice creams that come with coffee. We had salads and sandwiches, ice cream sundaes, Austrian cake and coffee - it was all divine. The Parlour is a great place to take older children & adults & it felt like a real treat - making memories for our future and for my step-daughter. Make sure you are hungry before you visit , my six year old was in ice cream heaven but her eyes were bigger than her belly , like the rest of us .

I had a great Birthday Lunch & my Friends enjoyed themselves too. Cocktails are great. Definitely great if you want a fun relaxed atmosphere. The only downside is the Ladies are quite far from the Parlour & the ques were very long. My only recommendation would be to make a reservation and not just turn up on the day, as the ques again were very long. The flavours are good - and they are not overly sweet at all. another thing, the contrast of the hot tea and the cold icecream is great - you should gie it a try when you are there.
It's a very nice open space, bright and elegant - I think it's a nice little date spot if you are inclined towards that sort of thing.
As to the other itens, I have had the steak sandwich which was very good, a little small - but this is not the area to be looking for a bargain.
It is a fun treat overall, staff are polite - worth a try. But BOOK - the wait can be very long otherwise!27/10/2012 00:00:00Ice cream to die forAmazing ice cream combinations, huge portion sizes.
