Fino LondonA bookable BarrafinaHaving previously been to the sister restaurant of this place (Barrafina) on a number of occassions I decided to take my parents out for a meal because I was able to book a table at Fino.
Just like the other restaurant, the food was excellant, as well as the service, wine and decor. Although a little more subdued in terms of atmosphere, but this made for dining as a group easier as we could all hear and contribute to the conversation.

We loved the featured aperatifs and complement the restaurant on the good range of wine by the small carafe, helping us to match wine to food. The restaurant was a bit hard to find but oh so worth the hunt! The wait staff gave excellent recommendations and advice (when asked). The service was impeccable, and my friend and I, in London on business, had a fabulous dining experience. Each tapa was prepared to perfection. This will be one of my more memorable meals in London. About 8pm (2h before we were due to arrive) called to pre-order the suckling pig but told they needed 48h notice for such requests. On arrival the waitress tells us the special that night is SUCKLING PIG and there may be 1 left. Sadly she returns a few minutes later to say its gone already. Dude, why didn't they tell me about this when I rang?!
Also by the time we sat down and looked thru the menu it was 10:15pm and the waitress says last orders are at 10:30 so make sure we order everything we want ASAP. That was a lot of pressure, and when we asked to order a couple of extra dishes at precisely 10.32, we were told sorry cant be done. Not very helpful.

Just off the vibrant Charlotte St this place offers the best formal tapas in London. Service is friendly, wine list comprehensive and the food mouth-watering. The tortillas are as good as anything you'll find in Spain and the croquettes likewise. A great place for a romantic dinner or business lunch. Not at Fino; not that we've ever found. This is the only Spanish restaurant in London I would call a "100 per-center"
From the melting cod croquetas to the briny squid-ink risotto, from the gutsy chorizo tortilla to the simplest, crunchy/saucy pan con tomate, it was all faultless.
On top of all that, add very gracious service and an unabashedly elegant interior.

The food there was very similar to the tapas that we ate in Barcelona and the price is pretty much the same too. The seafood was fresh, the lamb cutlets were spot on and the service was incredible. Having never been to Fino before we asked the waitres to guide us through the courses and she was excellent. Her recommendation were fabulous, I mean really great food. Make no mistake this is not cheap easy tapas, this is very high end but worth every penny. From when you enter the concierge makes you feel very at ease and the waiting staff are friendly and efficient with no frills and no fuss, just how it should be.

The food is superb (the chicken wings and the ham croquetas were particular favourites) - a very varied menu, we were spoilt for choice - and extremely good value. The only downside was the cost of the drinks - the wine list is extremely expensive (there were only a handful of bottles for under £30), and a bottle of wine plus three drinks in the bar before dinner accounted for over £50 of the bill (which came to £107 for two of us including service). Very good ambience and not too crowded. The food are delicious and beautifully presented. We ordered 6 dishes to share between two (plus some cocktails :)) The squid ink rice was the best I've ever had!! we also like the scallops and croqueta, even though it's a little bit expensive compared with other Spanish restaurants in London. The choice of food is great - all freshly cooked. We had tapas of about 10 dishes (between 3 of us) - every one was top class (even the razor clams, which are VERY easy to over-cook!).

The restaurant is not actually on Charlotte Street but just off it and we informed the manager who agreed that everyone complains about this. So well endowed with tapas knowledge I decided to give Fino a go, before heading to the theatre. Anyway, despite being early we were welcomed and a cocktail was made for me. It was delicious, the Barman was adorable and had obviously put a lot of precision into the drink. We then sat down and our order was taken by the most charming Spanish waitress. We shared everything. The flavours were incredible. My favourite things were the croquettes, the monkfish, the mackerel and the prawns were simply amazing.
