We had a lovely afternoon with friends to celebrate a little, and it did feel special. I only wish other patrons would think it as special and not turn up scruffy and eat their burgers with coats on! Harvey Nichols theme their afternoon tea and change it every couple of months. The new theme is 'The Great Gatsby'. It was beautifully done. Every little detail had been though out and the atmosphere was lovely with 1920's music playing in the background. The waiting staff couldn't have been nicer or more attentive and pleasant. The food was spectacular! It's a gorgeous menu and a very memorable experience. The seasons menu is a really good concept, and well priced to add to this the staff are really receptive and added to the whole experience.
The food did not disappoint either following on from our experience so far. All the ingredients oozed with flavour and some bold combinations bring out the best in the restaurants name. My only quarrel was the ambience being in a large group it was ok but with only a few other diners in (Tuesday) it could get a bit agoraphobic. Food, service and ambience were all excellent. We had the Viva Forever 3-course set menu with Champagne Cocktail for £30, which was excellent. I asked to substitute a dessert for one from the a la carte menu, which they did with no problem (NB. the Doughnuts with Salted Caramel dip were divine!). The spaceship, on this evening however, had been transformed to a delightful country barn with the stewards dressed up as country squires down to elbow-patched tweed coats and ascots. The food was delightful, risotto and truffles was a sure hit. Delightfully presented under the 'Viva forever' spice girls theme we were taken care of for several hours one Sunday afternoon with as many of the delicious sandwiches, tea and mini cakes that we could reasonably fit in. Meal is excellent quality.
