Farm @ Friday Street Ratings and Reviews
A really enjoyable night out.
After a couple of drinks at the bar, we chose a decent bottle of red wine and moved to our table. We ordered our meals, olives, followed by a couple of the evenings 'specials', then the selection of cheeses. Everything was great, the drinks, the food, the service, together with the relaxed and friendly atmosphere
we went for sunday lunch
the atmosphere was lovely - candles and open fires and live music - definetely loved that! However the drinks were ridiculously expensive - £5 for an alcoholic ginger beer, £5.90 for an ale!! The sunday lunch was £14.69 - potatoes were cold and overdone, so crunchy. Hardly any meat on the plate, and the veg was watery and awful! Not worth the money paid and food not reccomended!!
lovely place and such a lovely setting
Had a lovely meal with my family for my dads birthday, outstanding food and generous on the portions. Excellent value. Will be back again in the future.
A little slow
Went for a family meal 4 adults 2 children. Never been before so didn't know what to expect. Good choice of food no separate children's menu but children's portions from the menu. We were shown to our table which I was pleased to see was a circular table, I find this so much better for socialising, especially for children Waitress gave us menus and after a short while another waitress came for our drinks order. After about 20 mins we still hadn't received our drinks or had our orders for food taken. Then the originall waitress passed our table and enquired as to if we had received our drinks order, which was a "no". Shortly afterwards the drinks arrived. Then after about another 15 mins a waitress came to take our food order. From then on it was ok but still a little slow. However all of the courses were excellent and the portions were value for money. It was Sunday afternoon and they did appear busy. They also had a male duo with guitars playing and singing which were very good, and they were not too loud or obtrusive. Overall a good experience and would go back, but they do need to improve on their service.
First visit to Farm @ Friday Street
We visited Farm @Friday Street whilst on a weekend break to Eastbourne. I selected the Farm based on the reviews I had read on a number of restaurants in the area. Being an eleven minute drive ( Google times) away from the town centre it is a little inconvenient but worth the visit. We arrived just as it was getting towards dusk which meant it was too chilly to sit outside but the garden looked well kept and inviting. Inside we found quite a large establishment with tables on a number of levels. We purchased a drink and had a discrete wander around, the pub was fairly busy with a mixture of ages and families. I asked if we could be found a quiet corner for our meal, the waitress found us a quiet corner as the place was filling up quickly. I found the menu a bit limited but managed to find something to suit. Service was good and our orders were soon taken. The food soon arrived and was well presented and tasty. A little more pricy than your average pub fayre but the quality was worth the extra. Overall a pleasant experience with nice ambiance and good food.
We were attending a show that evening in Eastbourne and as we live in haywards Heath wanted to make an evening of it. This restaurant was recommended. It all started well the staff were attentive and the first course was freshly cooked and served promptly and was very good Then it feel apart we had to wait over 40 mins four our mains my salmon had been caught and the edge was burnt and my wife's vegetables were nearly cold it took were were offered new vegetables but both time and appetite had run out After the third waitress attended did I finally get the manager and the only excuse we got was her admission that they could not handle a party of ten or so All a pity as on paper it all looked good
Service needs improvement
Fantastic food but over 30-35 mins between courses
Walking into the restaurant, I had very high hopes about what the food would be like. The setting is stunning, but the food was sub-par. My cottage pie was salty and tasted like something out of a low-quality budget motel restaurant. The veg on the side was overcooked and under-seasoned. My colleague's burger was rubbery and dry. He stated that "he's had better burgers at the football ground". I will definitely not be going back or recommending it to anyone.
Very slow service
Went to the Farm for a birthday night out. It's a nice venue BUT The service was shockingly slow. On two occasions we had to get up and find a waitress to ask for our orders to be taken. We went to the bar twice to get our own drinks. The food when it came was really just average. Beef Stroganoff for two people was ok. The gourmet burgers we have had before -but not good this time. Asked for them to be cooked medium - they were certainly overcooked . One person had the duck which they said was good. One desert - baked apple crumble - they ran out of baked apples and so long delay and when it came it was a little pathetic ( although the blackberry sorbet was very nice) Also we thought that all dishes were very overpriced. We won't be going back anytime soon because of the woeful service and cost.
Went for first time, to celebrate my wife`s birthday. Been recommended by friends and family. The layout of building is lovely, intimate or open plan. Service great, very quick, even though busy time of day (13:30). Menu is nice and varied. But we both want roast. The food was nicely presented, and plenty of it, BUT, served on cold plates, and not as hot as should of been for a roast. Also gravy was almost non-existent, and roast potatoes, soft and soggy. We only got asked if everything was ok, when over half way though meal, so too late to have it heated up. When bill came I raised issue and manageress ( I guess) said sorry, but should of brought to attention earlier on. Ok as a whole it was a good to fair meal, but could of been a little bit better. I wont stop us going again though.

The interior of the farm was awesome! Created a great ambience! Staff we're very friendly and food was great especially for the price!
Food great, disappointed in waiting time for food
Saturday 15 August we booked an evening meal for 4 people, it was very easy and did it all online. The time allocated was for 8.15pm, when we arrived at 8.10 we were taken straight to out table and ordered drinks at the table, they did take a while to come out but didn't think much of it. We ordered our food and where very happy with our starters, the food has always been good. Our table was cleared and then waited and waited for our main course, we finally got our main meals at 10.05pm as being heavily pregnant by the time it cam out I didn't eat very much, not acceptable that it took so long to be served. We understand that Saturday nights are busy especially over airborne but if you cannot deal with the demand then we should never of been able to book a table. Even if someone had come over to say really sorry main meals will be about an hour we would of probably been ok with it or made a decision to go elsewhere but not to be told anything and wait nearly 2 hours for our main course is totally unacceptable.
Wonderful Sunday Lunch
We booked to have Sunday lunch for my Mum's 68th birthday. We were warmly welcomed and the service was efficient and friendly. We really enjoyed our Sunday lunch - each having a roast which was delicious. Looking forward to going back again - thank you very much.
Our experience of the Farm
We comprised a party of 7, coming from a funeral at Eastbourne crematorium. I had made a reservation online which was quick and easy, so just announced myself when I arrived and we were courteously shown to our table. There was a good selection of meals and light bites on the menu. The service could have been a little faster, but there was a wedding party on at the time so the place was extremely busy. However, on a quieter day, I am sure things would have been a lot faster. As a family friendly pub I had a good experience and would not hesitate to recommend it to others.
There is an excellent and varied menu with plenty of vegetarian options to suit every kind of diner and every size of appetite. Paul and his staff are always there with a ready smile and an unhurried manner which makes for a very relaxed visit. Well behaved dogs are welcome to join their owners in all parts of the restaurant and will on hot days have water offered courtesy of the staff.
Another delicious meal...
The Farm at Friday Street is a great place to go if you want to celebrate a special occasion. The food is delicious and presented beautifully.
We love this restaurant.
We have been coming here for many years now and the consistency in the standard of care in the food produced, and the staff who welcome us, is a joy. Always a pleasure and always a real treat now it's just the two of us! Thankyou to everyone there.
Always a good night out !
Very pleasant venue, very good food and great service from friendly staff. Wide selection of beers & wines. We have been here quite a few times and it is always very consistent in the quality of food, drinks and service. We'll be back again in the next week or two.
Local - Weekday Dinner
I have been to the Friday Street Farm resturant/pub many times over the past 3 or 4 years, for occassions spanning from celebratory to general evening dinner; the majority of the time leaving very satisfied with all aspects. The most recent occassion my partner and I experienced excellent customer service with knowledgable bar staff and very friendly waiters. The starters were great, well constructed and well cooked. The mains were good, but some components were over-cooked and a little disappointing (eg. the potato rosti/duck leg/fish). The deserts were very uninspiring, we had the salted caramel cheesecake and the 'snickers' eton mess. Both were fairly strange, the cheesecake was very heavy and topped with a clump of rock hard caramel peanuts (which I don't remember seeing on the menu, slightly deceiving) and, in our opinion, the 'snickers' eton mess didn't really work as a desert as suspected before ordering, but we took the risk. Overall, lovely evening but a few disappointing aspects that seem to have developed fairly recently; certainly my last visit was a lot more enjoyable. However, we will most definitely return as this is one of our favourite eateries and very local.

The farm is excellent, especially the Sunday roast.
They are so accommodating, welcoming and friendly whenever we go to The Farm at Friday Street. Fab staff and well cooked food.
Overall poor value for the money. £11.50 for ham egg and chips!! I don't think so. Will not be returning
Good Food Quality and Service
Food was good and the menu was different to similar places. Perhaps a bit pricey!
A bit disappointing
Not bad, but didn't match our expectations. Limp over boiled veg and un-imaginative super high calorie deserts took the edge off well prepared meat and fish. Friendly, helpful staff
Not up to its usual standard
I have been a regular at The Farm for a few years and always been pleased with the food and service and overall experience. Our visit on Saturday however was a let down after I'd recommended it for an evening out with the family as an early Fathers Day celebration. The Corned Beef Hash was tasteless and 3 of our party of 5 chose this. We were tucked away over the other side of the restaurant down the stairs. The restaurant wasn't busy at 630 and the service wasn't brilliant to the point where we thought we'd been forgotten. All in all, the food and service were disappointing and I will certainly think twice before coming back again. It's a shame because it's a lovely place with a good atmosphere and is local.
Can't beat the Farm for a family Sunday roast.
The farm Sunday roast is amazing. The staff are always helpful and friendly, we were running late and they accommodated us even though they were busy. I love that they offer small portions of the mains for children rather than an awful kids meal. The vegetables are so fresh and you get such a generous portion. We come away with full bellies and felt very happy. Can't wait to go back!
As always - excellent food, service and overall experience.
Not what we expected.
Having enjoyed a meal here before we decided to go for Sunday lunch. Our table was booked for 12 o'clock and we arrived on time, only to be told the menus were still printing. They must have the slowest printer ever because we didn't get a copy until 20 minutes later!!. When our meals arrived my roast did not have the veg. After 5 minutes I chased it and they didn't arrive until another 5 minutes had passed and I had chased them again. Not impressed by eating meat and the veg virtually in two courses. We shall not be returning.
overpriced & underwhelmed !!!
In balance the place is average at best. Although the ambience & service are very good the food lets it down. Definite lack of seasoning & flavour. Style over substance. Have visited several eateries in and around Eastbourne this year & although this is wihin walking distance of home I will be jumping in a cab and be going elsewhere. The menu makes the dishes sound exotic & different but take out all the fancy words & you arent left with much. many mains need side dishes added to make a decent meal which brings a 3 course meal to£40 a head. On this occasion not worth the money.
The Farm @ Friday Street
We always enjoy our time spent here. The staff are always very friendly and the food is always of a very good standard.

Really enjoyed our meal here, lovely food, service a little slow but it was busy. The actual restaurant was beautiful! Recommend booking for sure but well worth a visit
not the usual
I have to say I've eaten here before and always had very good service and and the food has always been excellent. I really hope this was just a blip and not the start of a downward trend.
Went here for Sunday lunch, made us feel very welcome, lovely food and great service
We are always impressed by this outsrtanding venue
We have never been let down by Paul and his staff, they are attentive, charming and extremely professional. The food choice is excellent and reflects the local produce from the surrounding area. The specials are always interesting; the flavour combinations are appropriate and well balanced. We have been coming to the Farm@Friday street since they opened and will be continuing to frequent the best restaurant and gastro dining in the East Sussex area by far...So if you want good quality food served with a smile, in a relaxed and unfussy way then you can't go wrong at the Farm@Friday Street...
My girlfriend and I went to the Farm on Mayday. we had a lovely time! The food was delicious and we left extremly full. Definate recommend to all. Beautiful place.
Excellent food, friendly and efficent staff, no problem with half portion for grandma!!
