Diner Reviews
  • "The first time I went to Entree, I was impressed that it was something a bit different in Clapham - interesting food combinations, great cocktails and a fantastic pianist. This time, although it was a busy Saturday night, a below average guitarist/singer playing weak covers, and food not all that different from what you'd get anywhere in Clapham for half the price. Entree has a lovely atmosphere and the service is excellent, but it just shows how much under par food and poor music turn a restaurant from a place where you notice the atmosphere, great cocktails and music to a place where you only notice that the bill is a lot higher than you'd expect for what you're getting. May go back, but will check the menu and who is playing before I do."

  • "Entree is a great neighbourhood restaurant, with very good food, a lovely atmosphere and live piano on weekend evenings. I'd highly recommend this restaurant. Their toptable deal is excellent value."

  • "Food really good, atmosphere decent, really like the bar downstairs, good value. Will keep going."

  • "Food is tasty and delicious, the staff are incredibly polite and friendly. The only thing to note if you're vegetarian (like me) is that if you go for the toptable set menu option, there are no veggie options for mains, but they were happy to substitute the (only) veggie dish (ravioli) from the a la carte menu which was tasty. Overall a great dining experience, would definitely go back."

  • "What a shame a very good local place has now gone down hill . I have eaten here a great deal in the past and always enjoyed the food and service,Entree has been going more than 3 years and the whole place is now looking very tired from the food decor you name it all is very very sad.The menus was the same old food the muse booch not up to the old standard and not even a full glass ,the only thing that could be classes as enjoyable was the bread. I won't be returning unless the whole place pulls it's socks up."

  • "We went to Entree for dinner on a Saturday night and all really enjoyed the food (particularly the crab and scallop lasagna starter), the wine and the cocktails (particularly the dessert cocktails!) The service was fantastic and the ambience was great with live music audible from the bar below but not so loud that conversation was difficult. Would definitely recommend."

  • "I took a couple friends here to catch - up and have a discussion about a future event. The noise level at Entree was that of a wine bar or a busy market. Fish cakes were very bland - ordred sole for main and it was a recipe for blood pressure - so salty! Staff was pleasant and attentive - thankfully this was tt deal so inexpensive - but food and environment was less than impressive."

  • "An amazing surprise 40th dinner for my best friend back for two nights from Hong Kong - all the I hoped for & more!"

  • "The food was great and the cocktails were delicious but don't expect an atmosphere. We were lucky as a large party was booked downstairs which gave the impression the place was busy despite a virtually empty top floor. If the party hadn't been there it would have been a meal void of atmosphere and could have ruined it. However, if you want good food and good drink and there are a group of you, this could be perfect."

  • "I have been to this restaurant a few times in the last few years, and decided to go on Saturday night as I have had good experiences in the past. Unfortunately they had run out of steak on the set menu, and on the normal menu, which was pretty rubbish for a Saturday night with a butchers right next door! We ordered off the set menu as we had booked through toptable. The amuse bouche was lovely, as was my french onion soup. Unfortunately the chef seemed to have gone salt crazy and over salted my sole, the sauce and the chips we were sharing, rendering them inedible. The waiting staff, however were lovely."

  • "I had never come across entree but stumbled upon it looking for some inspiration for somewhere to go away from the usual Northcote Road selection. The front of house greeting was warm and sincere. Throughout the whole evening nothing was too much trouble but neither were they hovering by your table waiting to pounce on empty plates and wine glasses. The food was beautifully presented and delicious. I've already recommended it to other friends who live in the area and will definitely be going back whether for a catch up with friends, birthday or romantic meal."

  • "Second time of visiting this restaurant and in short, we'll be back. The food was lovely but it was backed by some of the best service I have received (friendly, knowledgeable but relatively low key. Appropriate key whatever the correct term for that is)"

  • "Another great performance from Entree. Food always well presented and executed, interesting menu with plenty of choice (even on set menu). Service friendly and sweet - even keeping the kitchen open to rush through a dinner for a very late arrival to our party. Would definitely return."

  • "I chose Entree to take my girlfriend for a Valentines dinner and it proved perfect! The ambiance was great with just the right lighting and blues/ jazz music in the background. The food and service was excellent. We ordered olives to start and to our surprise were also given amuse-bouche "compliments of the chef" - bread with a lovely rich creamy soup. We both ordered steak which was very tasty - the chips were amazing, very crispy! When we finished we were given a 241 cocktail voucher so we went to the bar downstairs to listen to the live music in the form of an acoustic guitarist. All in a great evening and we would definitely visit again. It's my 30th coming up and I'm considering having it here based on our evening. Recommended!"

  • "Was fine - service attentive but not overbearing, quality okay and quantity sufficient. Better than most in this area."

  • "Excellent service, delicious food, great ambience; intimate and warm."

  • "Chance to eat well though out food in a local restaurant atmosphere. Service is friendly but slightly haphazard but no means a criticism, quite charming really. If you live south of the river and fancy a mid week meal in civilised surroundings its a good choice, the food is probably a feather overpriced given the location though. Would recommend it to friends living locally as one to try out."

  • "Had a fabulous dinner with friends at this lovely little restaurant. The piano player wasnt playing on a Thursday evening but have been here before and he really makes a difference would be lovely to have him there on more evenings/a little earlier to bring back that ambience."

  • "Always consistently excellent. Menu changes frequently, small and concise menu with interesting selection. Friendly and attentive staff - a neighborhood gem!"

  • "Although it was pouring outside, unlike across the road at The Breakfast Club where there was a long and non-moving queue, there was plenty of space to dine and was perfect for a Sunday lunch! Food was great and the service was excellent. Would certainly come again and recommend it thoroughly."

  • "Lovely romantic dinner in Clapham. My husband and I went for dinner at Entree and we were instantly taken by the romantic ambience, the gorgeous fish and excellent service. We will come back again, no question about it, to test the rest of the menu."

  • "inedible cut of beef; tough and not cooked and veg the same."

  • "I live about a hundred yards from the restaurant, but had never been there. I had peered into it while waiting for the bus and never seen much activity within, but when I took two friends there on Friday for dinner, I was surprised to see that all the tables were taken. There was, thank God, no music except a very faint piano tinkling from downstairs. We were nicely welcomes and our coats and hats gathered, the service throughout was excellent, and the food good. The only real fault I could find was in the paucity of vegetables. The mashed sweet potato(?) that I had, and mashed potato of my friends, was a mere smear, and we could have done with more. General impression good. See star allocation."

  • "It think of entree as fine dining food and service at a much more affordable price. Will keep going."

  • "Excellent food and service. The waitress was friendly and helpful, she even offered to move us to the bar area to have our dessert as there was a large group right next to us who were being quite loud. Little did we know that apart from the pianist we would have to listen to a talentless X-Factor reject who fueled by wine, decided to take on the spotlight and stood by the pianist acting like the diva that she would have loved to be. All in all it was a great experience, but if you're after a romantic dinner I would suggest you go on a weekday to avoid bumping into "Whining Houston"."

  • "Entree is a local restaurant for us but as good as any in central London. The atmosphere is great, the service is excellent and the food is amazing - this time we went for a late Sunday lunch and for a celebration....when you get food this good and 3 courses of it for £23, you can't help but leave feeling like you've had fantastic value for money, which added to the celebratory mood. Definitely recommended!"
    dined on 15/12/2013
  • "The food is always very good but you are paying West End Michelin Star prices without the Michelin Star service. The place decor, glassware, etc a bit tired and cheap. We got forgotten a couple of times. The chef deserves better front of house as the food is excellent."
    dined on 13/12/2013
  • "The reduced menu was not really the same as the offerings on the full a l carte menu but the bavette steak was equally as good as the rather more costly rump for example. The crab cakes were basically a potato cake with a prawn inside. yet tasty. there is a certain degree of eclectism about the place - it being on a raised floor above the "basement" where a group of Christmas Party revelers looked very lonely. Wine list was very well considered with lots available in the mid-range."
    dined on 11/12/2013
  • "Had delicious food. 50% to table deal made it good value. Normally the mains at 20 are getting expensive given that sides are extra. Service a little slow noticing us when we were ready to order and waiting to pay"

  • "We shouted all the way through our meal on Saturday night, over the live piano man who was increasingly turning to Oasis numbers like Wonderwall, to which the entire bar downstairs was singing along. The noise level upstairs was no better: people talking loudly in groups, tables tightly packed in and low ceilings. It was a shame because the food was really very nice. I might consider going again on a week night, earlier in the evening or for lunch."

  • "I had a great meal here on Saturday night to celebrate an engagement with a small group of girls. The set menu options were varied and all sounded amazing, the service was flawless and the atmosphere was lively and fun. When the food arrived we were really impressed, everything was absolutely delicious. The Piano Bar downstairs was also absolutely fantastic, and worth a night out in its own right!"

  • "My guest who lives nearby couldnt believe he hadn't sptted this understated place. Excellent welcome and efficient and friendly service. Cheese portions were genrous and home made crackers with them were superb. We found a Spanish red we could afford so had a botttle each! And they didn't groan when we asked for tap water."

  • "Excellent meal and a great location on the table next to the kitchen. Highly recommended"
    dined on 09/11/2013
  • "We've been to Entree a few times: it's disappointingly variable. The dining area is quite small, each makes for good ambience but if you're a couple, seated next to a louder group, the space is so small you can barely hear each other. Also, there's never an offer of hanging your coats, so they're stuck on the back of your chair, being yanked every time a waitress has to squeeze by to the next table, which is often. The food can be great: I've had wonderful, insightful menus, cooked well & presented beautifully at good value(if you get the set menu-ordering a la carte produces the same quality, from a slightly bigger selection, but much higher prices). However, I have also been really disappointed other times. Entree comes with a warning."

  • "It was quite quiet on a Tuesday night, but the venue has a great layout and atmosphere. All of the food was cooked perfectly and the wine was really delicious. The staff were very attentive, but not over the top and everything came to our table quickly. Good value for money, if you're expecting London prices."

  • "This was our first visit to Entree and we were not disappointed. The food was excellent from the starters through to the pudding, the coconut pannacotta being a great hit. There were some interesting choices on the wine and our selection of a South African red with an unusual grape mix was bang on the money. The service was a little hit and miss in places but well intentioned and friendly. We well definitely revisit and highly recommend to anyone wanting a relaxed but high quality dining experience."

  • "My wife and I had a good evening at Entree. The service was not great to start with - three waiters coming to give us water and ask for aperitif orders which naturally lead to one order not being fulfilled - but it got better. My wife was dissapointed to see the pate starter had been removed, but the apart from that, the menu was excellent and the fod we ordered, very good. A few large parties arrived during our desert and so it got very noisy (so mch so that we could not hear each other. So we finished up and got the bill. But still a good evening."

  • "We are regulars at Entree. Food is always good, nice ambience and good staff. The crab and scallop lasagna signature dish remains a hit. Great cocktails too! In our view the best restaurant in clapham junction with Soif."
