Spacious and understated elegance are the hallmarks of Shanghai Blues, in a former library within a grade II listed building. The restaurant, in Holborn, has high ceilings and muted tones with a contemporary twist on traditional Shanghai décor. It feels ultra-spacious, yet intimate. The restaurant specialises in Shanghai Dim Sum and seafood, of which there is a vast range.

Everything about this place is on the plus size, prices included. But every time i've been here was definitely worth it.

It was a disappointing night at Shanghai Blues. Food was reasonable, but service was definitely below par. There were spills everywhere on our table, our rice were left uncovered in between bowl filling, and we had too many pots and bottles on our table. Our steamed seabass didn't arrive fifteen minutes into our main course, and when we enquired, a waiter patronised us and said that because it is steamed, it would have taken longer to prepare. And it arrived ten miutes later. Disappointed

We booked Shanghai Blues for a client Christmas lunch and it was a very enjoyable experience. High end Chinese cuisine in a very pleasant setting. Recommended although it can end up pricey.

We went for a birthday lunch at Shanghai Blues, Sunday before Christmas. The promised birthday surprise didn't materialise, and generally the staff were somewhat distracted, preparing for a large function in the evening. However, the important thing--the food--was absolutely fabulous. We've had the dim sum before, but this time decided to take the easy option, and had the set Xmas meal, every item of which tasted fresh and delicious, and was beautifully presented.

Shanghai Blues was amazing! We went for a special night out and we were not disappointed. The restaurant itself is beautiful and the staff very friendly but not overbearing. The bill was high but for a very good reason - the food was divine. I highly recommend Shanghai Blues, we shall certainly be going back.

Shanghai Blues is a cut above the swathe of Chinese restaurants in central London. A cosy main dining room with dark wood and well-spaced tables - especially welcoming on a cold winter's day. Prettily presented dim sum; mains on the slightly pricey site. Attentive service

Shanghai Blues has a nice ambience. The quality of the food is a little hit and miss especially when compared to the likes of Hakkasan and China Tang which is clearly where they have tried to position themselves. Service was a low point as waiters tended to be a little obtrusive when people were trying to have conversations. Live jazz on a Saturday night meant that it was impossible to have a conversation. Given the prices there are far better up market Chinese restaurants in the West End

Shanghai Blues only fell down in its service: waiters were attentive but didn't follow up on our requests. My father was asked if he'd like another beer 6 times before one actually appeared. Food excellent.
