  • "We were intrigued by the 'posh fish and chips', and not disappointed. And the staff coped admirably when we asked for one meal to be 'low salt'. "
    dined on 11/04/2014
  • "Enjoyed a lovely meal on Saturday night but this was spoilt by the hot surroundings that made it quite uncomfortable to eat. We were glad to leave the restaurant to cool off outside! Fish and chips great value for money! Lobster delicious!"
    dined on 05/04/2014
  • "Great place. Service faultless and food excellent with some unusual twists. Would definitely recommend a visit."
    dined on 04/04/2014
  • "As always the food was excellent. Live music, not too loud ..great. Service could have been better as we had to keep our wine topped up ourselves. Overall a v.good date night out which started over 25 yrs ago :)"
    dined on 05/04/2014
  • "Amazing ambience the piano was beautifully played. For 2 meals including a shared starter and a bottle of wine was around £80.00 which I thought was excellent value for money, perfect for a date and couples."
    dined on 29/03/2014
  • "Great location , gourgous food with great service ! Just over the road from BIC and close to bars and pavilion , will defiantly return : )"
    dined on 28/03/2014
  • "Food was wonderful, prices O.K. but no atmosphere at all, nothing done to make you want to stay at the table and have another drink. Staff O.K."

  • "Great food, friendly staff but a lack of management means a slipshod service."

  • "Can't fault this restaurant in anyway. The staff are very friendly and the service is great. The food is fabulous and presented beautifully. Make sure you book in advance to make sure you get a table. 5 Stars"

  • "Three of us ate at the Crab and enjoyed a meal from their set menu. We have eaten there before and they always provide an amuse bouche to start with along with homemade bread. My wife had mussels with tomato, bacon and onion, I had soused mackerel and my son had squid with tartar sauce. All were tasty and beautifully presented, as were the main courses. My wife and I both had the Crab Fish Pie which was full of fish in a rich sauce and topped with a creamy cheddar mash. My son had chicken on a bed of sweet potato mash with a smoked bacon sauce. All of us loved the food. The service at the Crab is always excellent and we felt relaxed."

  • "Superb service, delicious food, and excellent value for maoney. Will definitely return in the near future!!"
    dined on 03/03/2014
  • "could not fault the food, four of us eating one a vegetarian. The food was small in portion as expected from a top end market restaurant. I had scallops for starters very nice, followed by excellent tasting seabass. At the restaurant there was a grand piano and it was being played with suitable music. I would have given an overall rating of five if it wasn't for the member of staff that informed us they were fully booked when we called by, but thanks to toptable they were not so we got our meal before seeing Miranda at the BiC."

  • "A superb venue with attentive service and great Ambience. The food was excellent and great value. I have no problems recommending this venue to all."
    dined on 21/02/2014
  • "This was a gold find. The restaurant was lovely and the food was outstanding I had the crab and lobster starter and the spicy tuna and scallops for mains which came with a curry sauce and rice. However the menu said it would come with spicy sweet potato. Will be going back when next in Bournemouth."
    dined on 18/02/2014
  • "Top quality food, reasonable service, a bit dark in the evening, moderately priced. Overall worth a try if you love your seafood."
    dined on 15/02/2014
  • "An overnight visit at Bournmouth, this restaurant was understated from the outside but excelled in every way once inside. The food was incredible, and the service was slick and professional at all times. Would deffinately reccomend this to anyone looking for a special treat during thier stay."

  • "This is the second time that we have been to the crab for our wedding anni, and both times were excellent, as a lover of sea food you can't fault the food very nice atmosphere with a pianist playing. nice place."
    dined on 25/01/2014
  • "We enjoyed our meal very much. It was one of the nicest meals we have had for a long time. Our only complaint was the service was quite slow, which didn't really effect our experience as the food was so nice."
    dined on 25/01/2014
  • "We were very much looking forward to crabs and loved the menu. Sadly the fish was over cooked and the chef agreed. We received another but again over cooked, not what you expect when paying £23 for a main. Service was slow and took 25 mins to clear our plates. We were both so disappointed in the quality of the food and service."
    dined on 18/01/2014
  • "Lovely atmosphere, friendly helpful staff. Food is a bit pricey but you get what you pay for, everything is cooked to perfection and everyone enjoyed their meals. Little side dish with the compliments of the chef is a nice touch"
    dined on 09/01/2014
  • "The staff we very attentive lovely atmosphere the food was out of this world not enjoyed a meal like this for a long time we will definatley be back soon."
    dined on 10/01/2014
  • "I cannot fault the food. It certainly had the 'wow' factor but unfortunately, front of house left much to be desired. We were greeted in the usual friendly fashion. However, after being shown to our table we were left without menus or asked if we wanted any drinks. It took ten minutes for the waiter to attend to us, even though the restaurant was not full. The staff were perfectly pleasant but there was little managerial direction. Adding insult to injury, we were left to find our own coats after we had paid. For an expensive meal, I expect the service to be without fault. Unfortunately this was not the case."
    dined on 02/01/2014
  • "We were in Bournemouth on the Saturday evening just before Christmas and booked Crab for Dinner. I can only describe the quality of the food as being fantastic. I started with the squid and lobster ravioli that was perfect - maybe a little spicy for some but just to my taste! I followed this with the scallop & monkfish that was probably the best I have ever eaten. The service was excellent - friendly and always attentive but never intrusive. For the quality of the food and wine the value for money was also excellent. The only slight criticism was the noise level in the restaurant - but it was Christmas time so no complaints. Super meal / super restaurant - we will be back soon."
    dined on 21/12/2013
  • "6 of us went for pre-birthday celebration. Superb food and very good service. Great ambiance and atmosphere. Not cheap but well worth the cost as portions good size as well as delicious."
    dined on 28/12/2013
  • "We stayed one night at the Park Central and booked a evening meal at the Crab. We eat from the set menu which was lovely for the price but ala carte menu was a bit expensive. Staff were very friendly and attentive and we will definitely go again."
    dined on 27/12/2013
  • "The Crab never fails to please. The food is always top-notch. The staff this time were brilliant - very knowledgeable. The Crab is our favourite restaurant in Bournemouth."
    dined on 18/12/2013
  • "From the moment we walked in the service was superb..good to see a restaurant staff really watching out and on the ball! We had 3 starters,2 x scallops, birth cooked well although Thermidor was slightly too cheesy, personal taste of course, and smoked salmon risotto rich and flavoursome.drinks reasonably priced.overall,it was a lovely evening in friendly surroundings..will definitely be back."
    dined on 13/12/2013
  • "Three of us had dinner there and enjoyed it very much. The food was excellent and superb value bearing in mind the faultless level of service. This is what a restaurant should be about not the usual slapdash amatueur places that are sadly so common and which we have to endure. Recommend the Crab with no hesitation. Literally over the road to the Bournemouth Centre so perfect for a pre show meal."
    dined on 11/12/2013
  • "My first experience of dining at the Crab some months ago was divine....and the second time for my wife's birthday was just as delightful! Ambience was exactly right, food was absolutely delicious and presentation was excellent, and the attention given to my wife and I was perfect....enough to ensure our meal was to our liking, yet discrete to leave us in peace and enjoy an intimate evening. No other restaurant in the Bournemouth area in comparison!"
    dined on 03/12/2013
  • "My wife and I spent the weekend in Bournemouth and struggled to find somewhere decent to eat. By chance we passed by and tried to book on line on The Crab's own site. It only offered very early slots so I called to be told that the restaurant was fully booked. My wife then tried the Toptable web site and there was a 7.00 p.m. slot free! Thank goodness we persisted. The ambience was good with first class service. The menu wasn't anything special but there were a handful of interesting dishes. The food was well cooked and presented. If anything portion sizes were on the generous side and we struggled to finish them. Despite the hiccup over the booking this is a good restaurant worth visiting in a town distinctly short of places to eat."
    dined on 30/11/2013
  • "Visited The Crab on a November Saturday evening, and had one of the best meals we've had in Boutnemouth. Both starters and main courses were delightfully presented and delicious. Didn't have room for puds! Wine reasonably priced too"
    dined on 23/11/2013
  • "My husband and I booked The Crab as we were staying in Bournemouth with friends for the week end. The staff were attentive and friendly. Could not fault the food. The oysters were the best my friend had had in years and the duck was simply perfection. We would certainly book again"
    dined on 15/11/2013
  • "After bringing my best friend here to celebrate her 30th, I wanted to leave a review to let people know what a fantastic restaurant this is. When we arrived we noticed how busy the restaurant was, usually a good sign. We were given a nice small table in the middle of the restaurant but did not feel over looked or exposed due to the overall set up. We choose a platter of fish to share with some side. The food was fantastic, TLobster, Crab, Tiger Prawns, Scallops, Oysters, Mussels. The wine was also delicious and we left feeling nice and full. We were not rushed at all and the service was very good. We especially liked the piano playing during dinner. Hope to see you in the new year."
    dined on 16/11/2013
  • "We loved restaurant from the very first moment - elegant decor, candles and piano! relaxing atmosphere. Oysters and scallops there were absoulutely amazing. Staff is very attentive, but you don't really have your own waiter. Other then that we would love to come back! Thank you!"
    dined on 07/11/2013
  • "We booked for an early dinner and it was good to see that we were not alone in the restaurant. Menu choices good, especially for fish/seafood. Excellent moules. Service a little erratic but overall quite good. An enjoyable evening in a relaxed atmosphere."
    dined on 05/11/2013
  • "A lovely evening was had at Crab at Bournemouth on Saturday evening. We chose to eat early, as our booking was for 6pm, so one of us ate of the set menu, which is excellent value. The food was beautifully presented and of high quality and tasted delicious. The service was attentive and the piano player added a lovely ambiance to the evening. We also moved through to the small bar area after our meal to enjoy a further drink. We would definitely recommend."
    dined on 09/11/2013
  • "Delicious food as usual at The Crab although we had only been to the Chievely one before. A good choice even on the set menu which is available before 7pm so perfect for pre concert dinners. It was a pity the pianist only started to play just as we were about to leave as we would have liked to hear him. We would definitely go again."
