Since our first visit we have been twice more & have never been disappointed. We usually have the pre theatre set menu & it is fantastic value for money, with the food being every bit as carefully prepared, cooked & delivered as the a la carte.
The staff are very attentive & professional & the service is excellent together with the atmosphere; we particularly like the fact that the tables are spaced well apart & the table is yours for as long as you desire!

Views of the Bournemouth pier and sea are beautiful and we have always had a table near the window. Can definitely recommend the crab and the oysters: we were pleasantly surprised by the tempura! Added bonus was the pianist, who paused his enjoyable repertoire to play happy birthday for my husband and all the other people who were having their birthday parties. The Crab had me concerned due to the friendly, professional service, the fine, unpretentious setting, and the Grand Piano, with a limited, but high-class menu.
My concern grew, as our starter was delivered, which looked absolutely wonderful, and tasted divine - having been cooked to perfection, with a display that could only have been created by a culinary artist, what there was of it (5 small slices per starter)!

The atmosphere and the service were superb. I particularly enjoyed the piano player.
The food was very good. I had some local fish from Bournemouth bay and it was very fresh and tasty, although I would have preferred the whole fish.
That's enough from me. I recommend it.

We ate from the set dinner menu which I thought was good value. The service was brilliant, the staff were very attentive and efficient. We had the set pre-theatre menu before a show and there was a good choice of beautifully cooked food at a great price. The service was attentive but discreet and they made sure we were finished in time without feeling rushed.

We booked this restaurant on the net hoping it would be nice and we were not disappointed so much so that I wanted to go back the next night however my husband wanted to go to The West Beach on our last night has we had dined there before. It was not a patch on The Crab. I'd travel the 295 miles and stay one night just so I could eat there again and my husband agrees. I had the Posh fish & chips and my husband had pork belly, we had starters & shared a creme brûlée. We also had 2 bottles of champagne. The service ranges from outstanding to a little stretched at times, but still highly recommended. Out 6 year olds love it here and mostly choose the fish and chips.
