A word from Cote - Kensington
Recently voted 'Best Value restaurant in the UK' by the Good Food Guide 2009, this branch of Cote near the Royal Albert Hall has received rave reviews from professional critics and local gourmets alike. The inspiration for the fuss-free French food and the stylish interior comes from the traditional bistros of Paris, and both are proving a big hit with Kensington’s demanding foodies. The emphasis is on simply, reasonably priced dishes and the menu includes familiar Gallic favourites like moules marinières; steak haché with skinny frites; duck confit; and naughty-but-nice tarte tatin with Calvados cream. Cote is ideal for laid-back lunches and mid-week dinners with friends. We guarantee you’ll come back time after time. Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Great venue, tucked away from High Street Kensington, serving lovely French food. Transport yourself to a southern French bistro, the food is great quality and all at a reasonable price. I have eaten at Cote in a number of different venues and this chain of restaurants puts all the others to shame. Well worth a visit for breakfast, lunch or dinner. "

  • "Lovely to sit in the sun for pre lunch drink. And then a delightful meal afterwards with good service."

  • "Great choice for our early evening supper. They do a very good value 2 or 3 course set menu but I decided to have one of their 'quick dishes' which was delicious. The restaurant was very busy yet the service was quick and attentive. They also have a very good wine list."

  • "Fantastic food, great service, very good value for money. We liked it so much that we went back the next day."

  • "We came here for Mother's Day and weren't disappointed - all our food was delicious (I would recommend the pisaladier and poulet grille) and we were all given a kir royal on the house! My 5 year old daughter came with us and our waitress was very good with her. Overall, the service was good, food great and very good value for money."

  • "What a great little find tucked away just off Kensington High Street. Lovely staff very helpful and attentive. Nice relaxed atmosphere, cosy and romantic. Food was fabulous my partner is still talking about his excellent steak which was cooked to perfection. Wine reasonably priced and good choice. Excellent evening out ...we were the last to leave but didn't feel hurried and staff were really appreciative of our comments on an enjoyable evening ...will definitely return! Have been to Cote in Windsor which is also very good but this restaurant has a much cosier feel probably because it is smaller and the staff are more friendly."

  • "I looked on Google for a restaurant to have a meal before a show at Royal Albert hall. Cote's came up as being just 10 mins stroll away and they had the bonus of a pre theatre special menu. Let's not beat around the bush, this was the best customer service I've ever experienced in 20 years of visiting restaurants: a front of house master class. Such a warm and friendly welcome - but that's not all. The menu, price, quality of food and ambiance were all similarly excellent. Next time we're in London we'll make a point of jumping on the tube here again ( a short walk from Kensington High street tube)"

  • "We were on a tight schedule pre theatre, and this has been remarked on in the booking notes with Top Table. Service was relaxed and friendly, which we would not have minded normally. Unfortunately we perhaps had not left enough time to totally enjoy the experience, and had to find someone to take our order after 30 mins of arriving. The food was as excellent as usual, and just to the standards expected. Overall good, but a little stressful. Certainly we will return when we have a couple of hours to savour the experience."

  • "Just off the main High St but like the tardis inside, this restaurant just kept going on back, yet separated into distinct areas each seeming small and intimate. We enjoyed an excellent meal, the scallops were absolutely fantastic, cooked perfectly and our steaks were spot on how we wanted them too. The sauces finished them off great too. Presentation was excellent and service remained attentive without becoming overbearing. A lovely bottle of Chablis rounded off the meal a treat. I am nota fan of service charges automatically added on the bill but this was one occasion where the amount was justified."

  • "Food predictable and good value, but, having booked in advance, I was surprised and disappointed to be shown initially to a table in a decidedly undesirable location, tho' there were then plenty of other tables available."

  • "In the past week I have eaten twice at Cote - Kensington. It offers excellent value, but it does get a bit crowded, with tables quite close to one another. The food is good and wholesome. The wines offer a great selection and start at about £15 a bottle. Attentive service."

  • "My husband and I went here before a show at The Royal Albert Hall. We arrived for an early dinner and ordered from the pre theatre menu, which was small but choice enough. The food was great and I would definitely recommend if you're looking for a quick bite to eat. Service was fantastic and food promptly delivered so we could get to the show."

  • "You know what you're going to get at Cote - and invariably you get it. This was a rare opportunity for my wife and I to leave the kids behind and get to a restaurant. We wanted nice food in a good and romantic atmosphere and this is what we got. We both had the Crab with Sourdough bread which was a good start. I had the cassoulet which was rich and delicious; my wife had the classic steak frite. The service was attentive but not intrusive and we both left full without too big a hole in my wallet."
    dined on 30/01/2014
  • "My friends and I had the pre theatre menu before going to the Royal Albert Hall. There was a lot of choice for the set menu - 2 courses for £9.95! Food was lovely and so was the atmosphere. I will definately be back!"

  • "I've been to both the Kensington & Eser restaurants and both were fantastic. The prices are moderate but it's definitely worth paying a little more as the food is amazing. I'd certainly pick this restaurant of Pizza Express / Prezzo etc. Service was friendly & fast considering how busy they always are. Thank you for a lovely meal!"

  • "We had been to the Royal Albert Hall for the Artist and had booked this restaurant throughout Top Table. Expected that the portions would be small as the prices were reasonable. But am happy to report all courses were of a good size. Fellow diners raved about the pate and the spinach crepes. As a vegetarian I was happy with the choices I made. Overall an excellent dining experience with attentive and friendly staff."

  • "Lurking off High Street Kensington this restaurant is in a small street with 3 restaurants in attractive surroundings. The meal was delicious, came amazingly quickly with impeccable service. Given how hard it is to find a good breakfast venue I was somewhat disappointed by the lack of fellow diners. This may have been due to the slightly gloomy atmosphere with limited natural light or the fact that those in Kensington do not rise early. Given that Cote has two venues that I have tried for breakfast (other was Sloane Square) offering something above average at breakfast I think they should do a big marketing push to justify the excellent staff they are supporting. Highly recommended."

  • "The staff are very welcoming and attentive at this tucked away little brasserie in Kensington. The food is standard brasserie fare, but delicious."
    dined on 07/10/2013
  • "Pleasing to the palate, well presented, the food here demonstrates a full palette of skills, in an ambience not normally found in chain operations which of course, this is. Not my first visit here, and it won't be my last. The menu is interesting and varied, with weekend and daily specials offering seasonal flavours and extra value. The wine list is carefully chosen. The staff are, in every sense, an asset, and this should include those of them who operate behind the scenes. Very few bistros or brasseries can match let alone exceed this standard, and those that can are considerably more expensive and, as such rather too formal for the format."
