About Clos Maggiore
Clos Maggiore is an oasis of calm in the heart of Covent Garden. Influenced by the stylish country inns of Provence and Tuscany its unique interiors create a warmth and intimacy enjoyed by both business and private parties. The conservatory has a fully retractable glass roof creating a bright and airy dining space, particularly lovely during the Spring and Summer seasons. It is transformed at night by candles, starlight and a crackling fire during the Winter months. Head Chef Marcellin Marc cooks sublime Provençal inspired cuisine with contemporary panache. Marcellin is committed to using locally sourced seasonal ingredients to create perfectly balanced menus which were awarded three AA-rosettes since 2008. Our extensive cellar at Clos Maggiore includes over 2,000 labels and was extended earlier this year to include an additional 400 wines at a low – mid price range. We are very proud to have been awarded the “Best of Award of Excellence” consistently since 2003 by Wine Spectator.

Clos Maggiore Ratings and Reviews
Clos have managed once again to create a spectacular menu - spoilt for choice even on the Set Lunch. The dining room is absolutely stunning and has truly put me in the festive mood. My boyfriend had a wonderful birthday meal. Never been let down by a meal here to date!
Visited last Friday lunch and had an outstanding lunch with excellent ambience, everything was perfect. We ate in the conservatory which is a must, had attentive and good service. The set menu was excellent value with a number of good choices for each course and high class food at a very reasonable price under £30. Obviously anything outside the menu is more expensive but still value. If you haven't been I would strongly recommend that you visit.
Great value early evening menu.
My wife and I were having an overnight stay in London and decided to eat at Clos Maggiore as we really enjoyed our previous visit. Still as good as ever. Great food, excellent service and tremendous value. Highly recommended. Bootle45
Perfect pre-theatre meal!
Set menu was sophisticated and provided great options for me and my vegetarian wife. Everything was served looking extravagant and tasted even better. Cocktails and wine were also on par and the setting started and finished off a perfect meal for us.

Great great dining experience. Minor observation is that tables perhaps a bit too cramped but I shall return
The prix fixe menu was excellent as always. The food was imaginative and delicious and the service was friendly and efficient
Location and service
Convenient location in Covent Garden. Good value for a restaurant of that quality. A great dining experience with delicious food, especially the dessert- Lemon Vebena Sorbet. Attentive service from the moment you enter the restaurant. The sparkling lights and the fireplace add warmth and romance to the dining experience. This is our third visit to England in the last 3 years and our third visit to Clos Maggiore. There is no doubt we will visit the restaurant again on our next trip to London.
We sat in the 'fairy tale' conservatory. Service, atmosphere snd food all delightful. A Winserful experience

A great fan of Clos Maggiore and lucky enough to go several times a year. Food, wine and service hard to beat. Always a joy to eat there. Only one criticism in that the fish dish on the set menu often attracts a supplement. This is most annoying and seemingly unnecessary !

Such a wonderful night. Seated in the conservatory, this was a stunning venue with helpful and considerate staff. All courses hit the mark and an extensive armagnac/cognac menu to finish. Highly recommended
Lovely Food in a bijoux setting
Had Lunch here on Monday and from start to finish, everything was super. We had a corner table in the conservatory ( such a pretty room ) ; the fire was lit, the room was already decorated for Xmas, the staff were attentive but not intrusive and the food was delicious. It's not the cheapest place to have lunch, but for a real treat in the heart of Covent Garden, I'd definitely recommend it.

An amazing setting that looks just like the pictures, perhaps even better. The service was top notch, always very friendly and human. The only improvement they could make is to extend the allotted table time to 2.5 hours instead of the current 2, just to fit in a full 3 course meal without rushing. Given the small size of the place, we understand the reasons though. We will definitely return.
Romance, rustic french meaty dishes, expensive
We had a table upstairs which ironically suited us better in the end as the room is intimate allowing for uninterrupted conversation and at times felt like we were the only couple in the room! The dishes are all traditional Franch - very meaty that did not go well with my partner and also the plates were very rich. However the staff were very attentive and struck the right balance between that and leaving us alone to enjoy the evening. Price is a little on the high side but not out of whack with London.
Have been several times never disappointed
An excellent restaurant right in the heart of Covent Garden . Staff exceptional and always a very special time when we visist

Lovely calm atmosphere in the conservatory. Very friendly service by staff who obviously enjoy their work. The food is a delight - each fish packed with flavour and elegantly arranged. Worthy of a mention - the rabbit, chicken breast and pappardelle
Great pre-theatre experience
We booked this restaurant for pre-theatre and we're very pleased we did. The food and service were excellent, the wine list deserves a review of its own and whilst you can splash out on favourites there are really good wines at a reasonable price too. What is not to like? We will visit again when we are in London.
I took my partner here to celebrate our first anniversary together and what a fantastic evening it was. I chose it after reviewing it on several websites for being the most romantic restaurant in London, it certainly lived up to that title and more. The food - absolutely outstanding. My partner had the Veel Cheek which literally was melt in your mouth food, it was so so perfectly cooked. I went for the duck and plum. So much flavour. Spot on! The staff - The staff made the whole experience. They were so attentive from the second we walked through the door, we felt welcomed. It's clearly a restaurant which hosts many wealthy people, but not at one point did we feel as if we didn't belong there. They were always there when they were needed but we're not over baring which is what you often find in top restaurants. The atmosphere - Peaceful, Beautiful and definitely romantic. I think we counted just 12 tables. So it really is small, no wonder it's so difficult to get a table. The Christmas decorations were up, and so tastefully put together. I tried to get a table in the conservatory, which unfortunately I could not get, we were just on the outside of it, so close enough. Next time I visit I will definitely push for a table in there. It looked extremely cosy and definitely romantic. The Wine - we were handed a wine 'menu' it was more like a wine bible! I never knew that many wines existed. The walls are wall to wall wines, like a library of wines as you walk in. It just added that extra little something. So yes, as for anyone reading this review. It's a must in London! By far the best restaurant I have visited in London. I would definitely recommend it for couples, and maybe a group of small friends. It's not somewhere you would take the works office! It really is fantastic, and I don't think any review would do it justice. Very reasonably priced too... Providing you don't go for the £11,000 bottle of red! Thanks Clos Maggiore, and see you all soon!
No conservatory, no fun
I did not expect to need to request especially a table for two when booking for two, that was a big disappointment that my experience did not recover from. The food is good, sides are a must and service is reasonable but a number of staff are not fluent English speakers. The wine is well selected.
That day was my boyfriends birthday，and when we had the desserts，a fantastic birthday “plate” appeared！My boyfriend was sooooo excited！Thanks for the nice service.
Lovely pre-theatre lunch
We could not get a table in the conservatory unfortunately but were not disappointed to be sat in the first floor dining room which is absolutely lovely with huge fireplace and already fully decked fro Chirstmas. We enjoyed a cocktail to start and then chose the set lunch menu including wine which was very good value. We paid the supplement for the venison which was well worth it. Will definitely come back again and will book earlier to ensure a table in the conservatory next time!

The service as usual was excellent. The soup starter was outstanding in taste and originality. I had the pasta veggie option which was rich and tasty. The only comment I would make is that perhaps the portion size for the main course was a bit on the generous side which gave the impression that I had not enjoyed the food as I could not finish it. The truffle mashed potatoes were to die for!
It's always a pleasure to visit Close Maggiore,
This is a little haven in the middle of busy Covent Garden, its old world service and atmosphere make a special occasion on any visit but its particularly romantic so good for a special date . The food is always great and you must always leave room for desert. You could stay there all night so its a shame that its not a hotel as well you just don't want to leave .It's like having a intimate meal in your own private space even though it's a restaurant. I love going there it makes it a special evening every time.

Weekend special Lunch
Husband and I went there to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We had been before and once again it didn't disappoint. The lunch menu is good value and everything is very well presented. Wine choice with the menu was excellent. We both had a aperitif and they were delicious. Another 'must have' is the truffle mash - absolutely devine. Nothing was disappointing We will go again as this place is our favourite when we visit London.
We will be back despite a hiccup!
I booked for a 25th Anniversary lunch online for my wife and I. My wife had seen the restaurant recommended as a romantic destination and having looked at the website, we thought the dining room looked spectacular. So we were a bit confused when we were shown to a table in the narrow walkway just inside the front door. It appears that the dining room shown on the website is a separate room 'the conservatory' and it gets booked up several months in advance. Tables in this room should be booked by telephone. If only we had known we would have delayed our meal and got the 'full experience'. We did manage to move closer to the room (which did indeed look fabulous) and in an area with less traffic, but not quite what we thought we had booked. The meal was absolutely wonderful, extremely good value (we went for the weekend lunch with wine option) we cannot fault the cooking, the timing and the service was friendly, professional and knowledgeable and these things alone resulted us in planning our next visit already - only this time we will book well ahead by telephone!
Enjoyed a late dinner at Clos Maggiore and the waiters were helpful and friendly without being obtrusive. The wine ordered was not available but an alternative was offered and reasonably priced. I will be back.
From the moment we walked in to leaving they delivered the best dining experience. Complete knowledge of the food and the wine menu. The meals were faultless and utterly outstanding. We sat in the conservatory which I would recommend stating when booking.
A gem that never disappoints
Enjoyed a delicious set lunch again today, which represents remarkable value for money in the capital. Service is courteous, friendly, attentive but never over-bearing. We'll be back again...and again...and again...
Food never disappoints
Excellent as always, in flavour combinations, presentation and taste. Only slight let down on this visit was the slow service. Not typical in our experience but still would have been rather stressful if we were heading to a show or had to be somewhere afterwards. Despite this I would come back to this place again and again
I often take 'grown up' friends for lunch
We have the set menu for lunch which is incredibly good value, the food is amazing, not at all obvoius it is from a set menu and the price includes half a bottle of wine which is always very acceptable. The dining room is gorgeous and the staff very attentive I can't recommend this restaurant enough for a romantic lunch or just a special occassion but it has become a favourite so now I just go when I can! I haven't been in the evening but can imagine it would be lovely. Some of the best food in London, we always rave about it and writing this is making me hungry.
Wow the best duck breast I have ever tasted - the food was superb . The staff were very professional and very attentive. A beautiful setting and a very classy establishment . Worth every penny and will return .
This is my second visit and it didn't disappoint. We weren't sat at the best table but that didn't stop us for celebrating our anniversary, with glorious food and wine and making it a perfect night. Next time we will make it into the conservatory. I highly recommend this restaurant. Book well in advance but whatever you do GO TO THIS RESTAURANT
I booked a table for a meal with my mum before a concert as a belated birthday treat. She had been looking forward to the concert for some time and I hoped the meal would set the tone of the night. Unfortunately, we were seated in a table in the room just outside the main restaurant area and therefore outside of the room with all of the atmosphere. Instead, we were on a table sticking out into the corridor, with the staircase up from the kitchens right next to us. This meant the entirety of the meal was spent with waiters racing back and forth right up against the table, running up and down the stairs, and having to squeeze past my mum to serve the table next to us which was squashed into the corner. It was cold, unbelievably noisy, and overall gave the impression of eating in a crowded train station (at a considerably higher price). The food was lovely and the service if anything overly efficient (there seemed to be about 20 people running around at any time) but the whole evening was spoiled by the table we were given. In fairness, the actual restaurant room looked very nice so if you manage to get seated in there hopefully you'd have an enjoyable evening.
Lived up to expectations
Really cosy dining room- ambitious but well priced menu- food fantastic, properly classic. Wine list ambitious and big and making very strong margins but there are some modest bargains if you look carefully. Great location for a posh blow out.
All That Glitters is Not Gold....
The expectations for the food are set very high once entering the seating area of the dining room which is romantic and luxiously decorated. Sadly the food doesn't meet the same standard and must admit it must t have made a significant impression since we dined there 4 days ago and I can't now recall what I ate other than the sides of mushrooms and heavily buttered spinach. The female waitress was much less hospitable than her male counterparts who were attentive, formal and yet unobtrusive. Overly priced for a cushy, indulgant atmosphere with inconsistent service quality and an uninspiring menu.
A beautiful place to be at Convent Garden
Came for dinner with client and daughter. We thought like to stay at central (convent garden) and sophisticated as we need to make sure we can hear each other. My chef recommended Clos Maggiore and this was the 1st time we went without knowing how it looks like. Surprisingly it is beautiful, sophisticated, with a lovely fire place, everything is just perfect and comfortable for everyone. The food was good, recommend the scallops, and lobster ravioli as my starter and main. Very good.

We were seated on time. The table was in the garden room as i requested ( one of the main features of this restaurant along side the fire place). The waiter was very helpful with the menu . The food was great and the atmosphere was very romantic . I think this is the most romantic table in london .
Great place but a little dissapointed
Everything was great. Food, service and ambiance. However, I had booked this as a romantic dinner for my partner and I before she returned to Australia for 12 months. I was disapointed that we were not seated in the back room as it looked amazing. we were sat at the front near the bar and it just does not have the same atmosphere. great place but be sure to ask for the room at the back if a romantic setting is what you are looking for.
