Clos MaggioreMy first time visiting ClosMy first time visiting Clos Maggiore, and long overdue. All of the food was superb - the lobster and scallop raviolo to start was particularly delicious. The service was efficient, attentive and friendly. The American sommelier was excellent, and he helped us to select some lovely glasses of wine to match our dishes. The interior of the restaurant is lovely, although I would recommend trying to get a table in the main area or in the conservatory, rather than near the entrance.
Overall a highly enjoyable experience - we will be back!15/06/2013 00:00:00Another good mealThis was our second visit to Clos Maggiore and it didn't disappoint. We went with 2 friends for pre ballet meal, the location is perfect for the Opera House, being within a 5 minute walk. We asked to be seated in the conservatory on booking and on checking when the restaurant called to confirm our booking the day before, this request had been honoured. Good start!
We chose from the fixed price menu and the 2 courses were well presented and delicious. The service in this restaurant is very good and the staff engage with the diners well. One of my friends had the cheese after the 2 course meal as a dessert and the selection was excellent. The waiter took the time to describe every cheese to him! We opted for coffee and gorgeous petit fours.15/06/2013 00:00:00CLOS MAGGIOREMuch has been written about Clos Maggiore including from us and everything you read about this Restaurant is true. There is no where better in the West End for a pre- or post theatrical experience. And that's a fact!15/06/2013 00:00:00A romantic jem!My partner and I are at Clos Maggiore two nights ago
And the restaurant/staff far exceeded expectations! Every aspect of our meal- from wine to
Dessert was phenomenal! Particular favorites included Loire valley rabbit and Cod as main dishes.
The selection of appetizers range from savory to scrumptious.14/06/2013 00:00:00Fantastic for a special occasionMy boyfriend and I went on a Friday night for both our birthdays. We booked well in advance so got a room in the glass-roofed atrium - lovely! The experience through the night was fantastic. The staff are helpful and on hand for anything yet not obtrusive. We had the 5 course tasting menu; the food was delicious and good value as well with generous serving sizes. All in all, a great restaurant for special occasions.14/06/2013 00:00:00Great service, book earlyI'm not used to dining at French restaurants so I can't compare to others. The menu seemed a bit limited and I got the impression of large plate / small portion when the starter arrived. However, the food was very nice and filling. The staff very attentive and friendly without it feeling rushed. Lovely decor and ambience made it the perfect spot for our 2nd anniversary. A bit pricey for me to go regularly but for a special occasion it was good value.
Agonising other giving a 5 star rating as the food was good but didn't set my taste buds alight and I was sat close to bar/ service area. Possibly the least attractive table as I booked late and the cause of my 4 star rating. Book early to get a great table and perhaps a 5 star experience.14/06/2013 00:00:00Great PlaceLunch at Clos Maggiore was excellent. The fixed price menu is very good value, wonderful food, well chosen wine and friendly efficient service. In an area of London noted for poor/average food Clos Maggiore stand out for food and ambience.13/06/2013 00:00:00Very nice French foodCame here for my boyfriend's birthday. Braised rabbit; duck with plums; and the truffle salad were excellent but enjoyed the guinea fowl a little less.
Service friendly and very attentive if a little too much for a couple who are not used to being waited on hand and foot!
Great ambiance13/06/2013 00:00:00Romantic dinner at clos maggioreLovely atmosphere, esp in the conservatory! However very busy and had to wait for a bit after our booking was for 10pm.. 11/06/2013 00:00:00Great French nosh - don't a soul!"It's never as good as the first time.....", well Clos Maggiore is always as good, if not better than the time before. Just off of Covent Garden is the best French restaurant this side of Paris. Excellent food, good wine, outstanding service & unbeatable ambiance. Expensive....? No, very reasonable prices. Will I visit again....? DEFINITELY.11/06/2013 00:00:00fantasticUn très bon accueil, un personnel aux petits soins, de la très bonne nourriture. Tout était parfait et l'ambiance romantique à souhait. Une très belle expérience à faire absolument à Londres !11/06/2013 00:00:00Romance at its finestI took my girlfriend here for her 21st birthday, and let me tell you this was possibly the best decision I could have made. Fantastic restaurant, the conservatory was absolutely stunning, the service was second the none, the ambience incredible and the food was fantastic (even for someone requesting an egg free vegetarian meal they were happy to cater!). The Happy Birthday plate in chocolate with little deserts at the end was a lovely touch. I could not have wished for a better night, would give 10 stars if I could!10/06/2013 00:00:00Great food - worse sittingWent on a date with my wife. The food was outstanding - I don't remember any place that had better. The only downside was the seating. I didn't request a table under the glass roof and ended up on the other side of the bar next to the waiting area which was average.10/06/2013 00:00:00A girls' lunch! We had never been to Clos Maggiore before and were delighted with the experience! The food was delicious, service good and we loved the lay out of the restaurant.10/06/2013 00:00:00Wedding anniversary perfectionWe wet here for our first wedding anniversary on Sunday 9th June. The food was delicious and good value as we ordered the slow food menu. The staff and service was excellent, they made us feel welcome and at ease. Would definitely go back.09/06/2013 00:00:00Very romantic place & amazing foodI went to the place for a dinner date and it was definatly the best choice. Very romantic setting, great menue, good food and good service. Hightly recommended!!!09/06/2013 00:00:00Loved it as usalThis is the 2nd time Ive been and couldnt fault it. Outstanding value, we had the 3 courses with wine £26. Food is stunning, scallops, Beef, desserts, really good wine.
The service is particularly good, brilliant staff always professional and happy to help.

I would go back everytime09/06/2013 00:00:00I have wanted to book intoI have wanted to book into this restaurant for a long time and living away from London now have not been able to get the date or time required in the past. It was well worth the wait!! I loved it and it came up to my expectations. Thank you.08/06/2013 00:00:00Fabulous restaurantThis was my first visit to Clos Maggiore. I went for a post-theatre meal on my birthday. We were a bit early for the table so I enjoyed a glass of champagne in their lounge area first. I had requested if possible the conservatory and we were seated here. The service throughout the meal was superb and the food was excellent. The setting is definitely very romantic. I was also served a plate of petit fours with a candle as it was my birthday which was a lovely end to the meal. I had a fabulous evening and will definitely be going back.08/06/2013 00:00:00We had the tasting menu withWe had the tasting menu with the wine pairings. It was a fantastic all round dinner experience.08/06/2013 00:00:00Value for money!I had very nice time. The food was very nice(but I felt a bit salty!) .
I had lunch fixed menu .It's very good value for money08/06/2013 00:00:00Lovely food, lovely restaurant4 of us had pre theatre meal at Clos Maggiore. We ate in the conservatory which was delightful. The staff was attentive and the food delicious. Unfortunately we didn't have time for the chocolate fondant dessert as our charming waitress told us that it would take about 10 minutes. As it was we only arrived at the Gielgud with five minutes before curtain up.
So, all in all a fabulous experience. Can't recommend it highly enough!08/06/2013 00:00:00A great pre theatre dinner. My wife and I had an early dinner here prior to a performance at the Royal Opera House - just a few hundred yards away. We were impressed by the friendly and efficient service, the luxurious surroundings and the excellent food. I could have eaten anything on the imaginative menu and what I did eat was expertly prepared and enhanced by tasteful sauces.07/06/2013 00:00:00Special occasionSeated in the upstairs room. Less busy and bustling than the downstairs. Perfect evening.07/06/2013 00:00:00Very outstanding service!!Foie gras is a must try as it is not rich to the point where it gets overly oily on your palette. Portion of dishes is also just right which doesn't make you feel forced to finish everything.
Definitely give their homemade sorbet a try. Very nicely done. Recommend black currant and pineapple flavour.07/06/2013 00:00:00gourmet set lunchThere's a few gourmet set lunch in London. This one comes with good value and excellent ambience and service. Food and wine choices are first class. No wonder it is full most of the time with tourist, out of town visitors and locals.
Well done !06/06/2013 00:00:00Gorgeous courtyard, great foodLovely courtyard covered in flowering branches. The use of mirrors made it feel quite large.
We have various food allergies in our party of 3, and they could not have been nicer about accommodating them. The food was fantastic, with lots of fresh flavours, and even the dairy-free dishes tasted rich and decadent. The smoked trout, pea soup, and duck breast were all to die for.
Very impressive wine list.
Great for pre-theatre. We got in and out quickly without feeling rushed.06/06/2013 00:00:00The food and service wereThe food and service were fantastic. Unfortunately if you are not seated downstairs in the conservatory you lose out a lot on ambience and make the experience that the restaurant is the most romantic in London. We were seated upstairs and I felt we could have been in any restaurant, anywhere in London. As I said I have absolutely no complaints with the service and the food.05/06/2013 00:00:00Flawless atmosphere and food100% positive experience what we had.
Definitely we will come back and visit this lovely place again.04/06/2013 00:00:00A good and romantic placeA good and romantic place to be with your love one. The ambience is first class04/06/2013 00:00:00Superb ambience, superb food,Superb ambience, superb food, superb service
A great evening01/06/2013 00:00:00post theatre mealI booked the CM for a special after theatre meal and was not disappointed. With a Dairy allergen and a vegetarian in the family this was not going to be easy but CM did us proud. The waiters were attentive to the dietary needs and the chefs excelled themselves making a special effort for my 9 year-old. It was a truly magnificant meal (sampleing menu) with 5 varied courses each bursting with flavour and some very nice surprises flavour wise. I will not hesitatet to recommend teh CM and the wine list was a truly weighty tombe!01/06/2013 00:00:00Birthday pre theatre treatWe had a lovely meal on Saturday evening pre theatre which was also for my partners birthday. We ate off the fixed price menu and the dishes were very good. The wine list was extensive (although very little sub £100 per bottle). The service was excellent, it really stood out as top quality, they even presented my partner with a 'happy birthday' decorated plate with candle. I didn't ask for this I only mentioned on booking it was his birthday so it was very good of them. All in all it was an excellent meal, prefect for both a special occasion and pre theatre. Next time I will just book even further in advance as even 3 months wasn't enough to get in to the conservatory.01/06/2013 00:00:00Returning customer. Our fourth or fifth visit - and standards have been maintained. Really comfy and QUIET ambience with excellent food. Ideal for good conversation over lunch.31/05/2013 00:00:00Lived up to the hypeWith such glowing reviews one is always worried whether your own experience will live up to expectations...no worries here though. Fantastic service, wonderful food...we had the tasting menu...and a great ambience. Can totally see why this restaurant is so highly rated and would not hesitate to recommend.31/05/2013 00:00:00PhenomenalService was outstanding, food was wonderful and the ambience was perfect. Recommended30/05/2013 00:00:00Delightful lunchOnce again a friend and I enjoyed a delightful lunch at Clos Maggiore. The service is more cable and the waiters so friendly and agreeable. We were made to feel so comfortable and we had another beautiful meal served to us. The special lunch deal was excellent and choice of wine so good. We will definitely come again and enjoy the whole experience.30/05/2013 00:00:00Beautiful placeWe went for an early dinner at 5pm (only time we could get!) to celebrate my husband's birthday. It was perfect. Don't get me wrong, it was over £60 per head but we chose a la carte and some pricey wine, it was worth every penny. Service was impeccable, from the special birthday cake they made for my husband to the waiter writing down his recommendation for cheese shops for me. We will definitely return and recommend!
Oh and we ate in the private dining room as we booked too late for the conservatory but it was just as romantic.30/05/2013 00:00:00Wonderful romantic Birthday mealMy husband and I went to Clos Maggiore for his birthday this week and had the most wonderful evening.
We sat in the beautiful conservatory surrounded by delicate blossoms and soft romantic light. This spot is an oasis of calm compared to the bustle of the Covent Garden streets outside.
The food was sublime, the service expert, friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend the crab starter washed down with a little prosecco and my husband has not stopped talking about the rabbit.
Looking forward to returning soon!29/05/2013 00:00:00BeautifulI really love this restaurant. Location is superb. The restaurant is beautiful with so much charm and character. People cannot help but be impressed. It's one of those restaurants that makes you feel elite, because so much attention is paid to every part of the experience.29/05/2013 00:00:00Clos Maggiore is the bestClos Maggiore is the best quality and value for money with excellent service in the West End. The Prix Fixe is outstanding especially with the wine option.29/05/2013 00:00:00This restaurant was as lovelyThis restaurant was as lovely as it looked on the internet. Our waiter ( a young French fellow) and the sommelier were extremely helpful and attentive. We made our reservations with plenty of advance notice and were given a table in the area I requested. A lovely anniversary experience and I would recommend it to anyone travelling to London. We hope to go back sooner rather than later.29/05/2013 00:00:00Amazing placeMy husband and I went here on our honeymoon, after the restaurant was recommended to us by my parents. We were not disappointed! The food was excellent and the service certainly matched. We were lucky enough to be seated in the back room with the fireplace, but the rest of the restaurant looked very cosy too. Make sure you book in advance to avvoid disappointment. We had a fantastic night and will come back as soon as we can.29/05/2013 00:00:00Anniversary DinnerAn absolutely fantastic restaurant. The ambiance is incredible, the food extremely good, the wine list a 94 page wonder.
But the greatest treasure is the kind and attentive staff.
Knowledgeable, friendly, charming and all at the top of their game.
Well done Clos Maggiore28/05/2013 00:00:00Exquisite food and gorgeous decorClos Maggiore is my favourite London restaurant. I have dined here often, for lunch and for dinner and have never been disappointed. It is renown for its romantic ambience, but do not let this put you off dining with friends/colleagues. The restaurant caters perfectly for all. Fantastic choice for vegetarians, and I would gladly dine at Clos Maggiore every week should funds allow (which of course they do not). Not a budget venue by any means, but it can be as expensive or reasonably priced as the diner chooses it to be. Although I have not suggested the restaurant to be child friendly, I took my 12 year old daughter for lunch and she thoroughly enjoyed the experience. For children much younger and/or fussy eaters, I'd suggest a babysitter.28/05/2013 00:00:00pre theatre supperwe wanted to be in the conservatory and we were. We chose the Prix Fixe meal and we all found something of interest and great taste. We were well looked after and found the whole meal a great way to start the evening - good value too!28/05/2013 00:00:00Best value fine dining in London..?Quite possibly, yes. We had an excellent pre-theatre meal for my wife's birthday in what is a lovely setting. The prix-fixe at £15.50 for two courses is incredible value and with a monumental wine list with entirely reasonable starting prices and lovely service, you cannot go wrong. Oh, and they presented my wife with a free petit-fours sort of dessert on the strength of mentioning the occasion when I booked on-line. Definitely going back to try the taster menu!28/05/2013 00:00:00
