Diner Reviews
  • "My First Time here and I was very impressed with the food and the service. We will return and inform our friends. I also thought the price was very good value."
    dined on 13/04/2014
  • "Food and service was very good. The red cabbage & sauce for the roast beef option was too rich & I could not eat it but my husband loved it."
    dined on 13/04/2014
  • "Chapter One is not cheap but is well worth it for a special occasion and not overly priced when you consider it is Michelin starred. The food is imaginative, wine list is extremely varied and has some wines at lower end price range which are well worth the money. Service is impeccable. I have been to Chapter One many times over the past 10 years or so and it never ceases to impress."

  • "We celebrated our second anniversary with a special dinner at Chapter One. The food and service were excellent and we were made to feel special. After the meal we took our coffee in the comfortable lounge finishing off a perfect evening in style."
    dined on 12/04/2014
  • "Not somewhere we could afford to eat regularly, but that makes it even more special when we do go there. Can't fault food, but it is expensive. Staff delightful and service excellent. I particularly like the fact that they leave you alone, and don't keep checking if everything is ok."
    dined on 11/04/2014
  • "Just had Sunday lunch for1st time and really enjoyed it. Service was good but main course of beef was a little rich."
    dined on 05/03/2014
  • "Food, atmosphere, staff, service was vey good but the person who takes our orders were quite slow and we had to wait quite a bit. This happened last time we went here."
    dined on 10/04/2014
  • "Really enjoyed the tasting menu, but service was unpersonal. Staff looked bored to be there & lady at the door was on the phone when we arrived so could not great us properly?"
    dined on 07/04/2014
  • "Generally outstanding and felt as a family that staff were all so professional and couteous. They tried and helped us order food that was appropriet as this was our first time."
    dined on 05/04/2014
  • "My wife's birthday dinner at Chapter 1 was as excellent as ever. Food was lovely, with a nice choice for a couple of fussy eaters. Service was professional and friendly as we have come to expect. Overall value for money is excellent as well."

  • "Once again we had a great meal at Chapter One. Everything was perfect."
    dined on 04/04/2014
  • "Once again Chapter One did not disappoint. We had the tasting menu with the wine selection - that's a glass of selected wine per course. Not much to say apart that everything was great, from the excellent service provided by Karina to the great combination of dishes with matching wines."
    dined on 03/04/2014
  • "After a recent knee replacement we made use of the disabled facilities and decided that here at Chapter One the disabled access is very good. The food was excellent . . you simply must try the venison cottage pie starter it was delicious as was our entire meal."
    dined on 28/03/2014
  • "Another wonderful trip to Chapter One. This time for lunch, in no way was the service, food nor ambience inferior to the dinner service. Highly recommended, the combination of flavours are breathtaking. Three course lunch, party of 4 cost under £150 Including drinks and service charge at 12.5%. Worth mentioning that they are gluten etc aware, we mentioned this to our waiter who looked after us throughout."
    dined on 28/03/2014
  • "Having been told by a number if people how amazing Chapter One is, I was looking forward to a lovely dining experience. This was not the case. From the moment we were sat down we were rushed by the staff, to the point our starters and main meal was served with half an hour of sitting down. Other diners to be wearing jeans, t shirts and converse trainers, which felt like we had walked into the local Wetherspoons pub. Good was good but served by girl that was full of cold and bunged up. For the amount of money we spent on a three course meal and a handful of drinks, I would expect a lot more. Chapter One fell well short of expectation and recommendation. We will not be going back to Chapter One in a rush as there is far better else where."
    dined on 28/03/2014
  • "Service was great. Arrived slightly early and there is a separate lounge area for drinks while waiting to be seated. Food was declicious and well presented. Would recommend to try for the experience."
    dined on 29/03/2014
  • "This is an ideal venue for fine dining at a very reasonable price. On top of that the friendliness and service are second to none. What more can one say?"
    dined on 26/03/2014
  • "I have visited Chapter One many times and have never been disappointed. The food is always superb and the service impeccable. We chose the tasting menu with accompanying wine. Every dish was very beautifully presented, perfectly cooked and delectable."
    dined on 25/03/2014
  • "Enjoyed our lunch which was on my wife's birthday and it was made special by the staff extra attentionat the end of the meal"
    dined on 24/03/2014
  • "I have never had a bad experience in the restaurant at Chapter One. You are always made to feel special as soon as you enter and the food is always wonderful. The service is excellent, attentive but not over attentive and nothing to improve your experience is forgotten. At the present time there is an offer on the price of lunch which makes it outstanding value. I leave feeling so happy at the experience and booking up for the next lunch."
    dined on 24/03/2014
  • "excellent meal, great value with attentive service and great attention to detail. The chef is wonderful"
    dined on 23/03/2014
  • "Booked Chapter One as a special celebration meal for my son's 25th birthday. He has always wanted to visit. Three of our party wanted to order the pork belly, but there was only one portion available, which I thought unacceptable from a limited menu and an 8pm booking. We ordered three ribeye steaks, one well done and two medium rare. The well done steak was very pink. The waiters were attentive but inefficient. Almost every item of all three courses was served to the wrong person. They just placed a dish in front of you without asking who had ordered what. It was like musical food. Although the quality of the food was good, I expected more for the £300 price tag"
    dined on 23/03/2014
  • "Amazing food and great experience, fantastic service... look forward to the next visit.."
    dined on 23/03/2014
  • "This was a my 3rd visit Chapter One. The food was very good as always. However both my wife detected that we were being rushed through our courses. We also seated by a rather chilly window seat. The staff were cordial, but not warm and welcoming as they had been on previous visits."
    dined on 22/03/2014
  • "My husband and I had a Saturday evening meal which was very good the only thing I would change is that the price is for 3 courses and we do not eat sweets so a price for two courses would be good. In saying that we were able to swap the sweet for a coffee but not quite the same value."
    dined on 22/03/2014
  • "Took my other half for his birthday for lunch. Was amazing. The food was executed to almost perfection. The only tiny little comment would be the chips with the steak are not to the same high standard as the rest of the food, but if your only visiting for their chips then this isn't for you. Everything else was perfect. The meat cooked to perfection, the venison is a delight along with the Fois Gras. Make sure you save room for pudding too as the chocolate mousse has to be the prettiest, stunning, most delicious thing I've ever tasted or seen. Overall an amazing lunch and I can wait to go back. I think the service was efficient and we never really wanted for anything, but just a little bit more personal would have made it outstanding."
    dined on 18/03/2014
  • "A great lunch . . We all ate from the set menu. The food was delicious especially the puds!"
    dined on 19/03/2014
  • "Had a lovely meal here on Monday lunch - food was outstanding and given the quality, we felt it was very good value for money. Service good too, can't wait to go again soon."
    dined on 17/03/2014
  • "Chapter One has always been one of our favourite resturants, its simply the best outside London. Its consistently excellent, we can not fault it in anyway. If you are looking for a Michelin star Sunday Lunch at pub prices then this is the place for you.. Its exceptional value. Evenings are expensive but still worth every single penny"
    dined on 16/03/2014
  • "I cannot recommend Chapter One highly enough. From the minute you walk through the door you are made to feel welcome and a valued guest. The service is excellent without making you feel uncomfortable and the food is just wonderful. A lovely place to have a special meal"

    dined on 07/03/2014
  • "Lunch food and drink were excellent. We went for our 55th wedding anniversary and were delighted with the meal again. Waiters were friendly and knowledgable. Service was a little slow, but the restaurant was very busy and the food was freshly prepared so who cares. Just right for that special foodie occasion. We shall certainly visit again."
    dined on 13/03/2014
  • "I have eaten at Chapter One many times and it has always been a wonderful experience. The menu is amazing - fabulous flavours, beautiful presentation and staff who are friendly and courteous!"
    dined on 12/03/2014
  • "We have visited Chapter One four times now and it's definately one of the best places to eat outside of London. We had a Taster Menu with matching wines and were presented with a 'Happy Anniversary' plate at the end of the meal which was a nice touch. Staff were friendly, professional, efficient and attentive throughout. Service was a good pace. We didn't feel rushed in any way but also didn't find moments where we were looking at our watches. The food was excellent and we enjoyed the matching wines. Would definately recommend for a romantic meal or a special occasion. Easy booking process with a reminder email sent the day before. Felt totally relaxed. Would recommend the pea veloute as a starter and guinea fowl for main course."
    dined on 11/03/2014
  • "On the outskirts of Bromley, Chapter one has a Michelin star, however I think it is the equal to any three star restaurant I've dined in. A wonderful restaurant that deserves praise all round even if it makes it harder to get a booking. Give it a try you won't be disappointed."
    dined on 06/03/2014
  • "We wanted to celebrate our wedding aniversary with a special meal which usually means London but we "found" Chapter One. From the moment we walked in, to the attentive waiter helping with our coats on the way out it was an outstanding experience. The quality of the ingredients was of the highest order enhanced by impeccable presentation, how often has that staged picture not looked like appears on your plate? Not here, the star is definitely the food.I had the sea bass with a rich sea food risotto, the fish was perfectly cooked, crispy skin hiding flesh that was moist but flaky with a taste to die for. The risotto was rich and unctuous and could have been served on its own but complimented perfectly the fish, thank you we'll return."
    dined on 06/03/2014
  • "Glad we found Chapter One, was perfect for the occasion and can't wait to return soon! We'll worth the star it has."
    dined on 02/03/2014
  • "We were on an Amazon deal; £20 for 3 courses with a glass or champagne. A limited menu with 3 choices for each courses. A bit limiting for fussy eaters like my husband (2 choices had black pudding in them and 1 had foie gras, which he doesn't like) but OK if you eat pretty much everything. A good deal though obviously you ay a fair amount for additional wine, coffee etc and the service charge. We'll be back."
