  • "best restaurant in Birmingham only issue with meal didnt particularly enjoy the mackerel and the rhubarb taste could have been stronger "

  • "Every time i have been to this restaurant it has not disappointed! Always welcoming and front of house staff are knowledgeable and friendly. Food menu was excellent. A very good place for business meetings as well as dinner for two!"

  • "From initial contact and booking through to arrival, dining and then leaving staff service was outstanding. The explanation of each course was was a useful touch. The food was devine and a little bit unusual. Would love to visit again for a special occasion."

  • "Superb value for money with quirky, fun and delicious touches. Fresh bread in a warm paper bag, individual portions of chocolate in a cocoa tin. Relaxed, well judged service and great great food!"

  • "We usually book a table in the big City Centre fine dining restaurants, this time we chose Carters of Moseley for our wedding anniversary lunch. The restaurant does not compromise on comfort, they have plenty of room around each table allowing for personal space. Holly the front of house, is a very warm and welcoming and made us feel like as if we had been using this restaurant for years, nothing was too much trouble even a very restricted diet of low carbohydrate and gluten free. The food was outstanding, local produce and excellent cooking techniques, we couldn't fault any of the courses we had. Our waitress was extremely knowledgeable on all the foods served and took the time to answer our questions. This really is a hidden gem."

  • "We had Saturday lunch with a 3 course menus that was well balanced, attractively presented and full of real taste, using great ingredients. A chocolate plate was drawn up for the happy celebrating couple who found the whole thing simply delicious. A first visit but we will go again, even though Carters is a little off the usual sites, because it was a great eating experience supported by staff that cared by thanking time to talk to customers and listen to what they said. First rate and up there with the best that Brum can offer at high end eating."

  • "Carter's have really raised their game.Clever yet delicious food in a friendly setting with the best front of house make this an exceptional place. The lack of formality is the way of the future as recognised in Marcus Wareing's new restaurant.A great evening"

  • "Very friendly and attentive staff, but find it very difficult to say anything positive about the food. I had shallots/garlic/truffle oil to start - sounded wonderful, but very ordinary. My first main was awful - cod marinated in seaweed, and unbearably salty. Replacement dish was belly of pork, which again was OK but very ordinary. My wife's main was the veggie dish with leeks and potatoes with cheese sauce and walnuts - again, very dull. Portion size for starters and mains was minute, but the pudding was huge - we both had the very large and very sweet sticky toffee pudding. Total bill for lunch, without tips, was about £70. Profoundly disappointed, and would certainly not go back."

  • "A gorgeous meal that was made so much more enjoyable by such wonderful, friendly staff. I strongly recommend this to foodies and anyone wanting to try the posh nosh experience for the first time. Truely a lovely experience.."

  • "I couldn't think of a nicer way to spend a Wednesday lunchtime than lunch at Carters. We were warmly welcomed and treated with generosity and kindness throughout the whole meal. We all had an apperitif which was well priced and using high standard drinks- fentimans tonic with Hendrick's gin. The 3 course set lunch with carafe of wine is amazing value. Beautiful homemade bread with crab pate. Starters were original and not too big. Main course of pork was divine. Other choices looked nice too. Rhubarb pudding was light, playful and yummy. Coffee- hot and high quality. We spent 2 1/2 hours there and nobody rushed us. We will be going back ASAP."

  • "Excellent Sunday lunch. Delicious, well presented food. Attentive service."

  • "Wonderful food, items matched together that I would not have tried, and they worked. The bottle of wine just seemed to empty itself, don't know how that happened! Ambiance good, a bit of background music, but the sound of happy diners was sufficient. As we were both working on Valentines night and the next night it was our version of Valentines, which we were both very pleased with."

  • "Having lived in south Birmingham most of my life, I've finally found a restaurant that I can look forward eating at. Fantastic, imaginative food served with attentive (but not over the top) and friendly service left my wife and I rating it as the best we've been to in Birmingham. Nice atmosphere and easy parking iced the cake."

  • "very nice and relaxed ambience on arrival - staff very friendly and approachable. Great food experience, tried new foods that was a nice change. Would like to go back and try new different foods or foods done a different way!!"

  • "Wonderful meal where the skill of the kitchen meant that seemingly mundane ingredients (oxtail, mackerel etc) were prepared and presented in a way that transcended their usual status. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves."

  • "A table for two on a Sunday afternoon delivered three courses of great food, good wine and attentive service. A lovely restaurant and definitely will be back again in the future."

  • "Living less than a mike away we had heard lots of good things about Carter's but never made it there ourselves. The food was delicious, five courses of well-presented, tasty, interesting dishes served with friendly attententiveness. The wine pairing was a real treat. One of the best meals I have had for ages - quality food in a welcoming and unpretentious environment. Yes, it's quite expensive but worth every penny."
    dined on 17/01/2014
  • "We went for the Sunday evening taster menu and it was gorgeous. I had the fish menu and my sister had the meat option. All the courses were beautifully presented and the individual flavours danced on my tongue. From the home-made bread to the final delightful home-made jaffa cakes, I loved every morsel"

  • "The Friendleness of the Staff made the whole Dinning experience memorable coupled with good food and wine was a Christmas present well worth having. (Given Vouchers from our Daughter for Christmas )"

  • "Never had a bad meal at carters - always nudging michelin star standard food or "at worst" fantastic bistro restaurant quality! Service is wonderfully friendly and professional, and the value of the set lunch is superb. Can't go wrong."
    dined on 11/01/2014
  • "The food was wonderful, the service superb. Nothing was too much trouble. Two of us were gluten intolerant and the chef adapted the dishes especially for us. Their gluten-free bread rolls were excellent. In addition to this the meal was excellent value."
    dined on 30/12/2013
  • "Been here twice and was both times v impressed with the food, friendly service and prices. Don't usually order fish in restaurants but the chef does something amazing with it - all the flavour combinations are divine, the menu changes regularly so always something new to try, staff friendly and welcoming ... Michellin standard food ... Still can't believe it's so reasonably priced ... Will now make this the venue for most future special occasions ... Can't recommend highly enough ...oh, and the malt bread with devilled crab paste is to die for!"
    dined on 28/12/2013
  • "Yet another really beautiful lunch at Carters: a supremely light, intensely flavoured duck liver parfait, followed by the only turkey I enjoy eating. Brad always starts with superb ingredients, then treats them with skill and respect to bet the best flavour out of them. I've never been disappointed!"
    dined on 18/12/2013
  • "Small with a family run feel had a rather sparse feel Staff were friendly, although there was a huge amount of fussing over cutlery, unnecessary when the meal was fixed. Also the rim of the bowls and plates was so slanted that cutlery fell into the dishes, which meant sticky handles.Of the 3little starters the mackerel and squid number lay on a strange tasting leaf and we could not identify any squid. The potato, gravy and bone marrow was satisfying but an unusual course at that point. Our duck breast main was delicious , but over cooked and wanted some sharpness in the sauce. Pud was a nice idea something like some stewed plums would have gone well. There was obviously a regular cliental, warmly greeted. Overall enjoyable but not great"
    dined on 13/12/2013
  • "We went to Carters for a celebration lunch and found it very friendly. The staff were welcoming and attentive, the food imaginative and well presented. The individual courses were presented and explained by the waitress. It was informal and relaxing. We had the Christmas menu which was limited but we tried all the dishes between us, and all very much enjoyed them, including an extra "congratulations plate" of homemade Jaffa cakes for my son."
    dined on 11/12/2013
  • "Friendly and welcoming. A varied set dinner menu. Lovely salmon and the duck was cooked the way we asked for it. We hope to visit again soon."
    dined on 29/11/2013
  • "Excellent local restaurant with friendly, helpful service and good food! Always happy to take friends and relatives knowing we will all enjoy the experience. This week we enjoyed a festive menu carefully crafted to have the look and taste of Christmas. A salmon starter with radish and bergamot oil delighted, whilst the turkey main course was far from the tired fare served up by some restaurants at this time of the year! We will be back soon."
    dined on 29/11/2013
  • "This was the 3rd time we have eaten at Carter's and every time we have thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Holly and the front-of-house team help to ensure a lovely atmosphere in which to enjoy to Brad's wonderful food."
    dined on 23/11/2013
  • "For a special treat, Carter's is a great place to dine. The menu was interesting and delicious. You know it's special when you think, "Could I have made this at home?" and the answer is "No!". We took the option of having different wines to accompany the dishes and this enhanced the food. Not just a meal but a dining experience. Thank you."
    dined on 21/11/2013
  • "This was by no means our first visit to Carters but it was our first lunchtime experience.Once again it lived up to what we had come to expect from the evenings - excellent in every respect."
    dined on 21/11/2013
  • "We had been wanting to try Carter's for a while, so I booked a table here for my fiancé's birthday. They called me on the day to confirm the booking and they were more than happy to swap some of the courses between the set menus. It was relatively quiet for a Wednesday, and on arrival the staff were very courteous and welcoming. This is a lovely little place with a warm and unpretentious atmosphere, just what we wanted. Food and drink came very promptly and was really excellent and quirky. I've been to a few Michelin star restaurants and the food and service here is as good if not better in many respects. Overall a fantastic evening, they even presented a birthday treat at the end which was a nice touch. We'll definately be visiting again!"

  • "Fabulous dining experience from the outset. Specially made bread to complement the absolutely gorgeous crab paste. The salmon with oyster mayonaise was delightful. For the main course the pork was a little pink in the middle for my taste, but it was a treat to have the potatoes and sprouts, all cooked perfectly. The dessert was absolutely fabulous! Frozen peanut butter, banana sorbet and salted caramel. It was so good I had two! The service is fantastic."
    dined on 15/11/2013
  • "Service was outstanding from we entered until we left. Staff serving could explain dishes we were eating in gret detail. Being gluten free was no problem. My pork dish was devine and tasted like pork. Best gluten free pudding I have had in years. Will be back."
    dined on 14/11/2013
  • "An excellent Sunday lunch. An small, imaginative menu with amusing touches. Nothing negative to say, and I hope that the Michelin star that I am sure will be awarded will not change anything."
    dined on 10/11/2013
  • "A slightly slow start particularly as we didn't need to pick from the menu as it was a tasting menu! However the food and service for the rest of the evening was excellent. Friendly staff made it a relaxed experience and the wine choices were interesting."
    dined on 08/11/2013
  • "Have eaten here a many times, took some friends who were in town as a treat. We feel disappointed with most recent visit. We are not generally a fan of obligatory set menu's which they have introduced, but it would have been fine if the meal was as imaginative & wonderful as in the past. Sadly it was not. On past visits they have given us food that was incredible tasty and so imaginative that one wouldn't even dream of attempting to replicate it at home. I found that most of the meals this time were lacking in that quality, I could have replicated most of them at home should I want to, sadly I don't think I do. The service was good as always but felt a little rushed, please leave plates until all the plates are empty next time."
    dined on 08/11/2013
  • "Service was attentive without feeling one was ever interrupted. We could change the pace of courses to suit our needs so a long relaxed dinner was possible. We had the 5 course set meal. I was phoned 36 hours in advance to be sure there were not dietary issues. The food was exquisite. We did not opt for the restaurant's wine selections for each course and had an excellent Malbac which was reasonably priced."
