Diner Reviews
  • "We booked this last minute and am very pleased we did, my friend has an egg allergy so menus can be quiet difficult. The staff were happy to help and ensured that all food was egg free or they removed the sauce. Lovely Ambience, lovely staff and delicious food"

  • "On arrival we ordered our drinks and food and were offered bread from a variety of options in a breadbasket which was served with the best butter I have ever tasted. Truly delicious. We ordered from the special offer menu and had tomato soup and squid & chorizo casserole to start, both of which were delicious. For mains we had gnocchi in tomato sauce and roasted pork belly which were really tasty. For dessert we had Bakewell tart & chocolate mousse, both of which were excellent. The food was amazing, really good value and well sized portions and the service was second to none - attentive but not overly so. We would certainly recommend Cantina Vinopolis and look forward to visiting again."

  • "We meet up with friends regularly in Lfn Bridge as we can all get there direct by train from all parts of London and chose cantina for a change after looking at the positive reviews. We had a great time last Saturday night . Good attentive service and great food and wine . Value for money was good for the area and the ambience with the original railway arches and high ceilings adds to the lovely atmoshete - we eill return!!"

  • "We dined here for a late lunch as a group of 12 people. The set menu was excellent value - great choice of dishes and good quality food. The only thing that let the restaurant down was fairly patchy service. At one point we ordered two glasses of wine because our glasses were empty - not only did we have to chase it up 5 minutes later as we had almost finished our meal, but half way through our desserts one of the original bottles of wine we had ordered which we had assumed to be empty was brought to the table still half full - nobody had topped up our glasses or told us we still had half a bottle left! There didn't seem to be any one person in charge of looking after our table and overseeing things."

  • "Set menu was exceptional for quality, choice and price. The service too was excellent. I dined at Vinopolis with a girlfriend last Thursday and have already recommended to a number of friends."

  • "We have together celebrated birthdays 4 times in London and three of these occasions we visited Vinopolis. First time for winetesting and those other times for becoming 50. 2010 the food was outstanding and now, 2014 still very good. Maybe my expectations was a little bit to high this time and noise from trains a little disturbing, but the restaurant and service was excellent so don't miss to eat a dinner here during your London weekend at South Bank!!"
    dined on 10/04/2014
  • "Not especially impressed - service in the bar involved interrupting the bar staff flirting with each other long enough to get them to serve a drink. Once at the table the waiter appeared to know nothing about wine - disturbing for a restaurant attached to somewhere supposedly focused on the stuff. Food was distinctly average, not enough butter served with bread (had to ask three times for more), starter of quiche was quite bland. Main of chicken escalope was over seasoned to the point of being unpleasant. Wouldn't return."
    dined on 02/04/2014
  • "I booked this for my friend and I for just a little treat on a day off;the food was lovely, the wine was beautiful and services was good. The course offer is very good value for money. I had the Thai Fishcake and the duck for main, both wwas well cooked and presented well."
    dined on 28/03/2014
  • "Went here for a Christmas Party, the location is fantastic and the sub-railway setting with the arches are a great place to eat and relax. Unfortunately although some great food on the menu the real dishes didn't live up. Quite bland and a strange balance of flavours found by the majority of us. The bar is excellent though and the cocktails delicious."
    dined on 20/04/2013
  • "Dined here Thursday night a group of 5 of us we chose the 2x courses for £14.95 and the food variety was great. The Restaurant decor was lovely, food was incredible and generous sizes, very good value for money and service was spot on."

  • "We had a splendid evening at Cantina Vinopolis after work last week- excellent value for money. Great selection on the set menu and generous portions. Wine was a little expensive but still really delicious. Atmosphere was fantastic, decor is cool and chic. Would thoroughly recommend"

  • "We booked the 2 course lunch set menu and was pleasantly surprised after reading some of the comments. Our waiters were men and polite and friendly. The ambience is lovely if a little overstated. Would return."

  • "Great value and the food was good but it didn't wow."

  • "I booked this restaurant for my partners 40th, on the recommendation of a friend. When we arrived we received the best service through out our meal, the space is amazing situated under the arch of a train bridge! The food was outstanding served from an open kitchen, I highly reccomend this restaurant."
    dined on 22/03/2014
  • "The A La Carte menu was small, but everyone found something they liked. Dishes were well prepared and satisfying. 3 courses for £20 was good value, but I wouldn't go to the restaurant and pay full menu prices."
    dined on 20/03/2014
  • "Met old colleagues for dinner. Great food and interesting choices on the special toptable menu. Fantastic value. Wednesdays are quite light, so it's a good day to go."
    dined on 19/03/2014
  • "Second time back with my parents and we love it. Wine exceptional, food delicious with great presentation and service extremely polite and attentive without being pushy. Recommend to everyone. One of my favourites in London. And location allows a lovely walk down Southbank to finish off a great night!"
    dined on 15/03/2014
  • "We went for a late lunch after the theatre. I booked the two course offer and it was very good value. I was not expecting the food to be so good and was really impressed. This was on a busy Saturday. All the staff were efficient and pleasant. This would be a really good place to go to for a party, pre theatre or as we did a late afternoon lunch."
    dined on 08/03/2014
  • "The Sunday lunch was totally unimpressive, the meal was not hot, the meat was sliced into large slabs and the roast potatoes were undercooked. The wine is expensive and after a few bottles we order 2 glasses of Fleurie and were given 2 glasses of very dark red wine which we knew not be Fleurie or even from the Gamay grape!. When we complained we were told it was Fleurie and it may have opened a long time.....!! The last time I visited this restaurant was 14 years ago and it was very good - not so now and I shall not be returning. Give Sunday lunch here a miss."
    dined on 09/03/2014
  • "We had the TT deal which was good value and the wine list catered for all tastes and budgets. Our waiter was not very talkative but was very well presented and efficient. We asked him to remove the 12.5% service charge off the final bill - he did so politely and without any hesitation. We gave him the tip directly as he was deserving of it. The Maître-de need to be more friendly when customers come to reception to be seated in the restaurant - both ladies seem to be dismissive of people."
    dined on 01/03/2014
  • "Cantina was a really pleasant surprise, excellent food at really reasonable prices for London. Food was a much higher quality than anticipated, presentation was exceptional. Great way to finish after spending afternoon in Vinopolis, would visit again just for the food"

  • "4 of us girlies met up for a catch up and were all blown away by our food. The standard is exceptional, the waiters were brilliant and the value was awesome. Highly recommend this place!"

  • "Really characterful restaurant, with incredibly high ceiling and exposed brickwork. Great bar as well if you want a pre-dinner drink."
    dined on 20/02/2014
  • "Food...outstanding, wine....delicious, service...excellent! Just one thing.... Ladies toilets....disgraceful!"

  • "3 courses for £19.99 on a friday night - amazing! Wonderful choice of dishes, each one very tasty and beautifully presented. Would definitely recommend."
    dined on 28/02/2014
  • "The receptionist met us with an icy stare and was rather abrupt for the entire afternoon. The waiters were pleasant though and the food enjoyable. Sadly when presented with the bill we had been overcharged an extra bottle of wine and were charged for 3 courses as opposed to 2 - a difference of over £60! This was rectified when brought to their attention but left me wondering whether they were trying their luck knowing we had consumed several bottles of wine and in good spirits? Seems to me that they possibly resent the special offer and are trying to recoup on their discounted deal?! It certainly dampened our experince....."
    dined on 01/03/2014
  • "Met a friend for a good chat and dome decent food intake at the same time - both ate fish which was delish and cooked to perfection. had a bottle of house wine with bread and water and shared a cheeseboard and the who meal came to £35.00 each !! which in my view in London is a good price"

  • "Friday night 7pm. Restaurant and adjacent cocktail bar busy, but not full. I was able to leave my case and coat in the cloakroom.. Attractive, unusual design eating area with a high arched ceiling. Regular loud rumbling of trains above was a bit disconcerting. Tables a little too close together for a romantic meal but fine otherwise. We had a £14.95 meal - 2 courses. He had starter, I had dessert and we both had duck. All the food was beautifully cooked and perfectly presented. My only criticism is that the duck leg ( a good size) was served with salad which consisted of a couple of leaves - I expected potatoes/rice but these weren't included in the offer. Wine £6 large glass Pinotage was good quality. Friendly, helpful service."

  • "Had read some bad reviews but on the whole it turned out to be very good and I would recommend it. Had a thoroughly nice evening."
    dined on 21/02/2014
  • "good value with the set meal - great selection of options."
    dined on 19/02/2014
  • "Two of us booked the £14.95 weekday two course lunch offer. There was a good choice of food to suit all tastes and the portion sizes and value were excellent. We rounded off lunch with £5.00 puddings which I assume were priced at full value but, nevertheless, £19.95 for a full three course lunch represented exceptional value in great surroundings with lots of space and atmosphere."
    dined on 20/02/2014
  • "Good food, good service and nice location. Would recommend"
    dined on 13/02/2014
  • "We went for a set menu and the choice was very good. The three cheese and leek tart we had for our starter was delicious, my main course pork wasn't quite so great but my companion loved her main so I will just choose something else next time, it would not put me off coming here or recommending it at all. The atmosphere and staff were great and we had a very lovely evening. Obviously there was an excellent choice of wine and the waiter helped us select a great wine within a price range we supplied him with. I would definitely come back and bring more people next time."
    dined on 22/01/2014
  • "Booked the set menu for four of us. Had lunch before going to the Strictly Come Dancing Tour. Lovely food, exceptionally good value and portions for a set menu. Would recommend."
    dined on 08/02/2014
  • "Was booked to visit the Menier Chocolate Factory for an evening performance to discover that there are very few dining options close by. It was with some relief that I found the offer on toptable at Cantina Vinopolis. Although the restaurant was nearly empty when we arrived tables soon began to fill up and the atmosphere then felt more welcoming. Service was attentive and quick - exactly as required when you are eating with a deadline."
    dined on 30/01/2014
  • "I've always wanted to try out Cantina Vinopolis and I wasn't dissapointed. The food was fresh and delicious and the service was great. It's not cheap but the quality more than makes up for this. And of course the wine...incredible! well worth it."
    dined on 05/02/2014
  • "we went here on a mid week evening and I was worried because the place was quite empty. But the food was fantastic, the service was spot on and the wine - of which we had a different glass with each course, was outstanding. I have passed this place over the years and always thought it looked full of city business lunches. don't be put off - its great!"
    dined on 04/02/2014
  • "We had a good meal - food was very good and staff were friendly but felt service could have been a little better. Good ambience and good value."
    dined on 30/01/2014
  • "We did the set menu (2 courses for 14.95 or 3 for 19.50), and the options were varied, with delicious food. Lovely open space, with corner tables for a more intimate evening. Have done this deal a couple of times and am always very impressed. Thanks!"
