Really good dining experience, but definitely less affordable on Saturday night without the promotion offer! Sad it's closing down

Great value for money for the lunch menu and amazing quality. I will definitely come again
pleasant if not outstanding

Family Celebration Meal
Booked this restaurant through Open Table at short notice. A table for 7 was available early evening for a celebration party of seven. Although our table was close to the kitchen and hence a little warmer than the rest of the restaurant it did not stop our enjoyment. Indeed we quite enjoyed studying the plates of food as they were passed out to other diners. The service was excellent. the staff were very attentive allowing us time to sit and 'chat' without pressure to order. We have the set menu which was varied - all of us found dishes that we enjoyed and washed it all down with some excellent wines. The other tables around us were empty for most of or meal and only became occupied as we left at about 9pm. Definitely a place to visit again. Recommended.
A bit disappointing
I dined at Cantina Vinopolis with high expectations. I have been there before and found it to be excellent so I was really pleased to have the opportunity to return. Unfortunately, I found it to be a disappointing experience. The food was very good in places and my main course of duck leg was delicious, well cooked and very tender. However, the starter of ham and cheese croquettes was very poor- not very hot and the texture resembled wall-paper paste, with very little flavour. Dessert of triple chocolate mousse sounded better than it tasted but was OK. perhaps I was just unlucky with my choices. The service made us feel rushed, even though the restaurant was only about 60 percent full. Our main waitress was efficient but 2 others came to the table to repeat questions that she had already asked us and it just felt like they wanted to turn the table around as quickly as possible. We weren't there for a long time so it really wasn't necessary. The final issue was that on the way out we needed to visit the toilets and asked another member of staff where they were. He was very dismissive of us, didn't even look at us and just waved in the general direction of them whilst snapping that 'they are over there'.
Lovely food in an interesting setting. The Open Table deal also makes it great value for money.
Great for a catch up
Really nice place to meet friends. Very good value food and nice ingredients. Would recommend.
Cantina Vinopolis- a great venue
I love this restaurant because the service is good and unhurried and the place is big enough that you don't feel crowded. Also there is no unnecessary music so you can actually talk to your other diners and hear what is being said. Oh and the food is good too.
Service and food was very good.
The birthday girl had a fab time and a good time was had by all in attendance. Would highly recommend.
Consistent quality and value
CV is a good central venue, food is good but not innovatory, service a little OTT at times but we were pre theatre so it was quiet. In the second dining room it was very hot

Excellent as always - food and wine were terrific. This is such great value for money. Only reason for not giving 5 stars was that the initial wine chosen (Grüner Veltliner) was offered 3 years younger (2014) than indicated on the wine list (2011) & I was not informed when offered it - I had to send it back. For a place based on wine, that's unacceptable. However, this aside it was terrific as always.
A good night out
Had a pre-drink cocktail in Bar Blue - excellent Espresso Martinis. Good menu - all the starters were excellent - lobster ravioli and chilli scallop & prawns. Lamb main dishes were superb. The John Dory fish was cooked very nicely but the samphire and other vegetables served with it were over seasoned for the palates of both diners who ordered it and the accompanying sauce was a bit thin. Sorbets for dessert were very delicious. Wine and coffee all good. All the staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Enjoyed the ambience of the simple brick arches with the trains rumbling overhead.
"We are closed; the kitchen is closed ..."
I booked a table for 4 at 10.15pm online after the theatre. I made it clear that our timings may be slightly out of sync because of this but despite this we did arrive at 10.15pm. The lady at the desk said the restaurant was closed and the kitchen was closed. I said we had a confirmed booking for 10.15pm so how could they be closed? She went off and found someone who also said they were closed. She said they had phoned to cancel us but that was simply untrue as my mobile phone showed no such call. We protested that that was not good enough and asked to speak to someone else in charge. After five minutes or so, just as we had decided to walk away, they called us back and showed us to a table - no apology was forthcoming. (The restaurant was by this time perhaps a third still full.) What a mistake on our part - we should have walked away - my husband's sirloin steak was inedible. Everything else we had, from what looked a potentially interesting menu was poor. Avoid this place.

The general cleanliness is poor. Service, English is poor and standards are poor. Air conditioning doesn't go anywhere. Half the wine list is missing. Would skip it if I was you.

Waited 1 hour for an appetizer and then another 30 minutes for our meal. Our meal was ice cold and we had to literally spit it out.
I love Vinopolis so I may be a little biased but the service was 5*. The food was great and the after dinner drinks were fab. Can't say a bad word about my experience.
wonderful is an understatement
This was an amazing venue. We had come across the Thames on the Clipper so I had decided on Vinopolis as a contrast from Canary Wharf where we had taken the Californian cousins. It was fabulous, Dickensian era, spectacular atmosphere in the vaulted arches, subtle lighting, spooky hearing the trains. And the food.. super.... really good choice , perfect size portions, well executed , yummy puds. And as for the wine , well we were spoilt for choice and it was all very good. I'm so sad it is closing and will go back before it does. Why have I never been before? Do the same !!
Excellent for group bookings!
Great speedy service (particularly in light of large group booking), very accommodating staff, excellent food, opentable offer was great value for money, extensive wine list and venue was very unique. Highly recommended for group bookings or even business meals.

Food was great, especially the starters and desserts, service slightly slow but overall very nice experience!
A group of ten of us all enjoyed the meal. I chose the set menu for ease and it had plenty of choice. I was too full for desert! Wine abit pricey considering the venue but this is London! Would def recommend!
Enjoyed our meal, we ordered from the promotional menu and were impressed by the quality of the food and the size of the portions. The cheese for dessert was a decent sized cheese board. As you would expect there's a good range of wine including a large number offered by the glass. Excellent service. Would definitely return!

Tasty, relaxed atmosphere and very helpful staff, great value set menu.
The set menu was unbelievable value. The staff were excellent. We had 1 of our party who needed a gluten free meal and they were superb in the way they explained what she could have, even make her a special starter when she didn't like anything on the set menu.
The food, wine and service were some of the best we have had in a long while. The special menu was good value and everyone in our party of five enjoyed their choice of dishes.
Such a shame it's closing down!
Have been on the wine experience before but not eaten in the restaurant but glad we did. Great value set meal and reasonably priced wines. Go before end of December when it will be too late.

Everyone loved it! Absolutely fantastic. Food choice excellent, service impeccable. Faultless.
Lovely location visited before, server young lady very good. after that the men serving not at all proffessional, whilst eating leaning across me to remove wine glasses, on several occassions asking if we were finished whilst taking a break or indeed a drink
A return visit.....
What a shame they are apparently closing at the end of the year. This was my second visit here. Had special deal menu, fantastic choice of starters, mains and desserts.Food was delicious! Such amazing value for money. Service was attentive but not intrusive. Hope to visit again before they close.
Cantina vinopolis is a great place
A spacious restaurant and not noisy so one can talk to ones fellow diners. The food is excellent.
The service was excellent. Food was good, 2 of us had the beef but it was a bit tuff.
Lovely place, food ok
Went here with my friend who I hadn't seen far ages as she lives in Australia. We were given a great table for talking and received a free glass of wine just because the fire alarm went off. Great customer service and value. I had steak which wasn't great but te starters was nice.
Great atmopshere and nice service
Only thing is they turn the tables every 1.5 hours so didn't feel that was long enough to eat and catch up with my friends - but food was good - lots of options and reasonably priced.
Set menu is excellent value. Highly recommend the grilled Squid and Chorizo for a starter - large portion and well presented, this dish was the highlight of the night. Seafood pasta with mussels for main was nothing amazing but again the portion size was huge with plenty of seafood. Service was hit and miss. Noisy environment, would advise going elsewhere if you're looking for something quiet. But for the price paid I really can't complain. £21 for good food, large portions and a glass of wine is a bargain in central London.
superb family friendly venue
The food was delicious, with lots of lovely seafood options. The chef even gave the children lovely hand carved chocolate and strawberry mice which hugely impressed the little ones. We came with 3 more people than mentioned in the reservations and the staff were very accommodating. The 2 for 1 deals on cocktails were a huge bonus as they had very lovely cocktail concoctions we've never seen before. Only downside was that the food was too salty for us.
I visited Cantina Vinopolis with my boyfriend after visiting the wine tasting at Vinopolis. We had a late booking but were slightly early, they were easily able to accommodate us. We decided to go for the more expensive set menu. The starter was great, the main was average and the dessert was forgettable. The house wine was nice as to be expected but you could probably find a lot nicer dinners for £90 for two. It was great as it was convenient but nothing special.

My friend came for a 3course pre theatre meal abd each course was deliscious. If you're a foodie, give it a try! The 2 for 1 cocktails went down a treat.
Good food, good value
We enjoyed a dinner here on a Tuesday evening. The promotional menu is good value and offers more choices than you expect on a set menu. My started of griddled squid and chorizo was very good, the best of the three we tried. Main courses were fantastic value; all three that we tried were delicious, good quality food in large portions. As you would expect, the wine list is extensive but the majority were more than we would want to spend for a Tuesday night dinner. We had a nice Valpolicella for £27. The staff were great and the venue is attractive -under the railway arches, with trains rumbling overhead. Few tables were occupied which detracted from the atmosphere, but it was a Tuesday so maybe it gets busier later in the week.

Sublime! Great food, excellent service. Wonderful meal, and terrific value. Great to see a set menu with such choice and quality.
Went to a pre-theatre dinner - staff attentive and food very good. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would go back again and again.
Very nice surroundings, with high vaulted ceilings. Food and service both very good, and the offer meant the meal was excellent value, particularly given that the location attracts many tourists which prompts some restaurants to raise their prices.
