Diner Reviews
  • "Having read the other reviews I was expecting a more exciting range of flavours. The pickle tray was pleasant and the beet root and samosa delicious. The cafe spice starter for 2 was also interesting enough to recommend. The chicken parsee was pleasant but we were unsure why it had 2 chilli signs as it was very mild. Other dishes including the dhansak were again pleasant but didn't wow. The salt lassi was very salty and at just under £40 a head including beer the experience felt expensive."

  • "As always, Cyrus Todiwala provides a different take on Indian food; the Venison Tikka was exceptional and we all had the Goan King Prawn Curry - three very satisfied luch time diners!!"

  • "Our family chose individual main courses and shared a vegetable dish and bread. All the meat dishes were very good with fresh and balanced spices. However, in my view, some natural flavour of delicate fish was lost to overpowering spice. The vegetable dish with Jerusalem artichokes, kale and spinach was subtly conceived and successfully executed. The selection of Indian ice cream was visually pleasing and was a gentle understated sweetener that refreshed the palette. All topped with friendly service."

  • "The presentation of food is good. They have their own trademark dish which is not like any traditional Indian food. Service is good. Taste wise might be slightly disappointed for the price I'm paying."

  • "Loved dinner here recently! Had a fabulous meal and attentive service. Would recommend."

  • "The food at Cafe Spice Namaste is just sublime. Guests from the USA who had never tried indian food before loved it as much as Brits with jaded curry palates. The ambience is relaxed and friendly, service is good but it's the food you go for above all. High quality ingredients, beautiful flavours, and dishes you just won't find anywhere else. Highly recommended."

  • "We had an amazing night, were looked after really well by great staff and I don't even know where to begin with the food.....out of this world!! Whenever we come up to London we look to try and find somewhere new to eat at and an old favourite, we often go to Tamarind, Roti Chai, Dishoom, Benares or Moti Mahal and I'm so glad we found you as you will now be added to the FAVOURITE list, can't wait to come back."

  • "First time at Cafe Spice Nemeste and it was a great experience. Not the cheapest but decent value for high quality Indian food, cooked and served with passion. We were looked after by Mrs Toliwada and her staff and she was very friendly and knowledgeable and recommended some great options that we would never have chosen by ourselves. Bonus was that we bumped into Mr Toliwada as we were leaving and he happily posed for photos with our party. Great food, great evening."

  • "We had a difficult time deciding what to order, there were so many things that sounded good - even as a vegetarian, i was spoiled for choice. An interesting wine list, too. The combinations of flavours are not only interesting-sounding, but they work well. My special starter of mixed beans in Goan sauce was just the right spicyness. My paneer and vegetable kebab came with tasty rice and a sophisticated coconut dipping sauce. My only complaint is that the sweet potatoe slices were under-cooked, which i did mention to the waiter and got no apology - something i would expect when paying fairly hefty prices"

  • "Second visit here and food and service lived up to previous memories of this fantastic eatery!! This is not a traditional 'curry house' but an experience of food that is difficult to put into words it is so good!! The staff are very helpful and will assist in your choices if you are not too sure as to what to order but I can recommend any of the beef dishes which were cooked to absolute perfection and the quality was superb!! The garlic, cheese and chilli naan bread - I have rarely tasted anything so delicious. We will certainly be returning here on our next visit to London and I can see this becoming a regular place to visit!! Highly recommended."

  • "I've been eating here since 2009 and I've never had a bad experience. I've been here with friends, as a couple, on a stag do and with business contacts and I always have a great time. It is on the expensive side but it is definitely worth it. From the moment you taste the chutneys you'll be sold. One of my favourite restaurants in London. I even met the girl I'm marrying there. I can't guarantee that you'll meet the girl of your dreams there but the food is awesome. ;-)"

  • "I enjoyed my meal at cafe spice namaste! The food was absolutely delicious (gorgeous pickle and chutney tray) and the waiting staff were attentive to our needs! The venue was peaceful and relaxed. I look forward to a return visit...."

  • "Wanted to visit since seeing Cyrus on Saturday Kitchen and took the first opportunity when in London for a concert to book. It exceeded our expectations. Food delicious and service impeccable. Looking forward to a return visit."

  • "The staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly and the food was delicious. I was dining with a vegetarian and there were plenty of options (the vegetarian starter platter was a great choice) and the waiters were very helpful in suggesting that two of our initials options were going to be quite similar in texture in case we wanted to change one of them. We had a late lunch booking so the restaurant was relatively quiet and we were the last people there by the time we finished but there was no sense of being rushed and we were made to feel very welcome."
    dined on 14/03/2014
  • "I rarely write reviews, but made the effort as can't recommend this place enough. Never seen so much care taken of food- not just delicious, but beautiful presentation, loads of information about the ingredients sourcing, history of the recipes, friendly helpful staff, etc- at this price point. VASTLY better than many central london places you'd pay 5 times as much for. Also worth pointing out that they cater politely and carefully for allergies, and perfect portion sizes to get you comfortably full but not stuffed. The walls are covered in so many awards it's unbelievable. The location's a bit awkward,- that's probably how it's still affordable and bookable despite the quality and value, but worth making the effort. we'll be back!"

  • "We were not sure what to expect on our first visit to Cafe Spice. The restaurant is unusual, feeling like a works canteen in the 60s/70s, but maybe that is the aim. The service was attentive, without being intrusive and they did not try to hurry you. The food was not particularly impressive, but the dishes were different and fully described in the menu, so no big surprises. I never eat vindaloo, but having read that is not prepared here to take your skull off, which was confirmed by the waiter, I tried it and found it an enjoyable balance of spices, flavours and some chilli heat. We found it a little disappointing, but will try it again, just to see if it was just that evening. Worth a try for something different."

  • "Its so nice to discover a different dining experience. The food menu was a joy to read through. A different twist to your typical Indian. Thoroughly enjoyed the food, atmosphere and the service was exceptional, which all added to a great evening. Thank you, we'll be back!"

  • "I took my wife to Cafe Spice for her first visit after the the theatre. I had been twice previously. It exceeded even my wildest expectations. We were visited separately by Cyrus and Mrs Todiwaller who knowing of my interest in Indian cuisine as a Chef gave me advice and were charming. Thank you to all concerned. Peter Prince"

  • "Firstly you can't knock the food here, 4 of us went for a post work dinner and everyone had a different dish (both starters and mains), I tried most of them was blown away. The food has real spice flavour rather than just heat, my dish was labelled with 2 chillies on the menu (suggesting it was one of the hotter ones) and it was far from what I would consider hot, but that was no bad thing as the quality of the beef was outstanding and the flavour to die for. If you want to eat food you can really taste and enjoy the intelligent use of spices it is the place for you. Service is attentive without being in your face, the only thing is the restaurant's look is far less elegant than the food, nothing bad just more high street than high end."
    dined on 05/03/2014
  • "menu was interesting and unusual so that it was hard to choose. we will have to return to try more dishes. The quality of the meat was superb and the spices skilfully used to give layers of flavour."

  • "MY HUSBAND TOOK ME TO NAMANSTE FOR MY BIRTHDAY AND I THOROUGHLY ENJOYED THE WHOLE EXPERIENCE. CYRUS TODIWALA CAME TO OUR TABLE AND SIGNED A COOK BOOK FOR ME. HE ALSO POSED FOR A PICTURE WITH ME, WHICH MADE MY EVENING. THE FOOD WAS WONDERFUL AND THE SERVICE VERY ATTENTIVE. AT THE END OF THE MEAL THE WAITER BROUGHT ME A CHOCOLATE CAKE WITH A SPARKLER ON IT WHICH WAS VERY NICE. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT AND THE FOOD AND WOULD CERTAINLY VISIT AGAIN"

  • "Impeccable service and food was clearly of a high standard but was ultimately underwhelming."

  • "A fantastic meal with colleagues. The food in Cafe Spice Namaste simply gets better and better. So few restaurants are prepared to offer a varied specials menu alongside the main menu which has been honed over many years with favourites. The sourcing and quality of the meat and produce really sings through, only enhanced by Cyrus' fantastic use of spices. Awesome."
    dined on 20/02/2014
  • "Excellent food, inventive and different. Service attentive and not at all intrusive."
    dined on 18/02/2014
  • "The atmosphere was very relaxing. The dishes deliciously spicy. The starters ordered awakened our palates and gently immersed leaving us ready for the other courses. The waiter was very polite and helpful. He assisted us with our choices and defined the dishes when they arrived at the table. Myself and my husband shared the Bebinca with Ice-cream, it was just right for two of us, we both craved to try a dessert but did not want to be left feeling excessively full. All in all the food was very tasty. It was a pleasurable dining experience. In addition it was wonderful to see the hosts making their guests feel welcome. We all left the restaurant very happy diners. Will definitely be visiting Mr Todiwala's Kitchen at the Hilton Heathrow."
    dined on 07/02/2014
  • "Congratulations Cyrus and your wife for a wonderful restaurant. We tried Cyrus's street food at the BBC Good Food and Drink Exhibition last year and made the decision to come to the actual restaurant. Although Cyrus is the master of curries, his wife is the master of front of house, well done both of you. We very much look forward to returning in the near future."
