  Our family party of four was celebrating my 70th birthday. My late wife and I held our 25th wedding anniversary party at the Compleat Angler in 1996. We all four found the food to be delicious, beautifully presented and little details like the quality and design of the glassware added the final touches. The was service was excellent from the moment we arrived at the hotel reception, in the bar for champagne before dining, and throughout the meal - attentive, informative but not over bearing or fussy. All this comes at a price, of course. The bill of nearly £400 was fair rather than very good value for a lovely evening....More
