BrulaQuality foodBrula delivered quality food, and the staff were very helpful. Decor is a little tired but if you want to eat well then this place is well worth a visit.22/05/2013 00:00:00Top Notch!Brula seem to have got it right!
I've been a few times for dinner and the food is always great, the tables are perfectly spaced and the service is excellent! I will visit again soon!18/05/2013 00:00:00Brula, St Margaret'sFabulous restaurant, décor gorgeous. Friendly, helpful staff. Food was outstanding and reasonably priced. Will definitely go again.09/05/2013 00:00:00Consistently delivers and delightsTook a friend to Brula for a birthday lunch treat. They had not dined there before and were very impressed by the gorgeous food, impeccable service and the restaurant itself. Never fails to delight.08/05/2013 00:00:00birthday dinnerLovely meal, attentive and friendly service. Nicely spaced tables maintain privacy but don't isolate. Food is delicious. (Chicken parfait starter was especially good.)01/05/2013 00:00:00I visited Brula for SundayI visited Brula for Sunday lunch with a friend. This is a great local restaurant, the ambience is relaxing and the food is excellent. My salt fish cake with trimmings tasted exquisite and just the right size for an appetiser. It is no wonder it is always busy.28/04/2013 00:00:00ExcellentMy husband and I booked a table at Brula on Saturday night for our wedding anniversary. We had an amazing night, the food was great, the ambiance and the service impeccable. We really enjoyed our night, I would definitely recommend it.27/04/2013 00:00:00Good QuaiityExcellent French restaurant in St Margaret's. Snails Vol-au - vent didn't really work for me, but the Halibut main course was very good. A little pricey for what we had but nevertheless I would recommend this restaurant to a friend.20/04/2013 00:00:00Excellent 2nd VisitBooked for my wife's birthday which was on a Sunday forgetting there would be a Sunday lunch menu.
Good selection - was surprised by this.
Starters excellent and tasty and decent portions.
Mains were also excellent and very good portions.
The wine list at Brula is not the usual fare at all - great selection and very good value for the adventurous. Many places with this sort of list are a "rip-off" .
Excellent wine
Desserts cam with Happy Birthday (in French) in chocolate on my wifes plate - nice touch.
All in all a good experience and for the quality etc fantastic to the poor experience we had elsewhere the night before!
Will be back07/04/2013 00:00:00Good food and good serviceWe went to brula for our wedding anniversary. We chose the set menu, which was delicious. Very nice bottle of wine and attentive service. They also noted our anniversary and brought some little chocolates with joyeux anniversaire written on the plate, which was a nice touch.
Quite expensive, but food was great quality so worth it.
The only downside was how they arranged the tables, so you were very close to other diners, listening in on their conversations and vice versa.06/04/2013 00:00:00Easter TreatWe dined over Easter at Brula and had a wonderful lunch. The set menu was not limiting in choice and the service and quality of food was outstanding. The wine was perfect and a we were helpfully advised which wine to choose.29/03/2013 00:00:00Great restaurant. WonderfulGreat restaurant. Wonderful atmosphere and wonderful food. Staff friendly and helpful. Would go back in an instant.28/03/2013 00:00:00FabulousI am so pleased to have discovered this wonderful restaurant. Very traditional with beautiful food and excellent service. It will become a regular destination from now on.

Superb.20/03/2013 00:00:00Quality and ValueAs ever Brula provided a excellent fixed price lunch. Ample choice, professional service without being starchy. Can't wait to visit again.15/03/2013 00:00:00Great lunchBrula never fails. The lunch is outstanding value for money. I took someone there for the first time and they can't wait to go back. We tried the roast Old Spot pork, absolutely melt in the mouth and what flavour, also loved the different twist on accompanying sauce.
This is a restaurant with a lovely atmosphere, tables spaces far enough apart to have a quiet conversation, perfect for business or pleasure and great for vegetarians.
Great in the evenings too.13/03/2013 00:00:00Completely pamperedMy partner and I went to Brula and enjoyed a wonderful evening where we felt truly pampered. The food was excellent and the portion sizes just right and the service we received made us feel like we were the only table in the house, despte the fact that they were completely full and clearly busy.
I would recommend this venue on just about every level, including price.
I would particularly recommend the house cocktail (No. 44 I think) very refreshing and light, a great way to start the evening.22/02/2013 00:00:00Great food and serviceMy husband and I went for a romantic post-valentine's Friday night dinner at Brula. We sat in the upstairs part which we hadn't been in before. The atmosphere was lovely; intimate and friendly, helped along by a roaring fire in the open fireplace. The food was excellent and the staff helpful and discrete, a perfect evening. Highly recommended.15/02/2013 00:00:00Delightful!Warm, cosy and romantic window seat near the open fire in the upstairs room. Unfortunately all tables for 2 so quiet at times, perhaps a table for 4 may have livened the atmosphere. Food very good and service excellent. Would definitely recommend.15/02/2013 00:00:00We went to Brula for a delayedWe went to Brula for a delayed Valentine's meal. They didn't disappoint: excellent food, very good service (not quite "excellent" simply because the food was a bit slow in coming - they were busy that night) and a relaxed yet upmarket environment.
We had the full works: aperitif, carafe of good quality wine, three courses and tea/coffee. Bill was £120 for two. Not cheap, but well worth it for the quality on a special occasion.15/02/2013 00:00:00Valentines Day DinnerMy husband and I went to Brula for dinner on Valentines Day. The set menu for
£35 was well chosen and the dishes we ordered arrived quickly and were beautifully plated and utterly delicious. Best creme brulee in the world! I'll definitely be going back.14/02/2013 00:00:00Another fine mealHaving been to Brula several times they have met a high standard yet again. Every course was presented in an attractive way without being too pretentious and all delicious. The slow roast pork belly was excellent and the sticky toffee pudding superb and not too sweet.05/02/2013 00:00:00Mixed couplesGreat meal as usual. Consistently excellent food and friendly service.
The menu changes sufficiently whilst maintaining some favourites.
Very hot and noisy on a Saturday.25/01/2013 16:00:00A fabulous eveningI booked a table for 6 to celebrate my birthday and not having dined here before, the restaurant was an unknown quantity. I primarily chose it becasue of location, plus my friends and I are commited Francophiles so it ticked all boxes. It did not disappoint. Each of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals - I myself had one of the vegetarian options and it was utterly delicious. As the restaurant was busy, the atmosphere was superb - as was the level of service and attention we received.
I would not hesitate to either return here or recommend to others.25/01/2013 16:00:00January SpecialWorth braving the snow to tackle the £15 January Lunch Offer (Chicken liver parfait with onion marmalade and toasted brioche/ Chargrilled Onglet steak frites with garlic butter/Crème brûlée). Great value alone for the generous portions of perfectly cooked onglet.
And I know this appears trivial, but I love restaurants that offer coffee and chocolates - a great alternative if you want something sweet but can't face the pudding (not a problem in this case).
Great setting, good service and various other nice touches combine to make this a great restaurant. We even had a little daydream about buying one of the 'for sale' houses opposite so that we could have Brula as our local.18/01/2013 16:00:00BrulaFantastic place hidden away on Crown Rd. A real gem, the staff are always friendly and knowledgeable about the food and wine. The perfect place for small groups or couples, I will be back.14/01/2013 16:00:00Great night outWe had a very good meal and were very well looked after by the friendly staff. The wine list was very interesting and i was very impressed that the champagne i had ordered with the booking was perfectly chilled and served as we sat down.10/01/2013 16:00:00Festive fun at BrulaWe dined on Christmas Eve at the lovely Brula and enjoyed a warm welcome, festive atmosphere, very friendly service and possibly the best set menu ever! The Christmas set menu consisted of an impressive choice of starters (so good I had difficulty in deciding!) and a three-bird roast for the main course, which was exceptional. The food was so good that we had no room left for dessert - although a great selection was on offer. Will just have to come back to try another time...Highly recommended, particularly for the fabulous festive food and ambience.23/12/2012 16:00:00Local GemBrula is charming and relaxed with the emphasis on great food.
It is unpretentious but serious about the quality and seasonal menu21/12/2012 16:00:00Brula was fantastic! We wereBrula was fantastic! We were welcomed warmly, the atmosphere was cosy and friendly, and they really looked after us (my husband had told them in advance it was my birthday, so we received Champagne and a Happy birthday message on my dessert! The food was excellent - great quality and large portions! The menu was full of good choices and we were very impressed overall. We will definitely return and recommend!05/03/2012 16:00:00
