A word from Bright Courtyard
Welcome to Bright Courtyard. We look forward to serving you!

the food was not as good as our
first time 3 months ago, and the service was poor, with a waitress pouring the sake without looking and hence spilling it on the tablecloth. We were asked about orders by two different people, there was a lack of coordination The menu on tablets is a gimmick which even the waiter commented upon as more difficult to read than a written menu The fact that we came previously during the week , and this time at the week end is no excuse for the general sloppiness"

Nice and helpful staff when I was
making my choice on food. The service was on point and they are calm. No rushing unlike some restaurant that gives their table timing. The food taste good. I enjoyed every bit of it."

Continuing to improve. A very high
standard of authentic cuisine."

We thought we would have a change
from Royal China Club across the road as we have been eating their for the last 10 years (and it's still one of the best authentic Chinese/Cantonese restaurants in town!). But Bright Courtyard is far from authentic. The food is amateurish Chinese fare from the frozen dim sum to the joke of a Peking Duck (just simple roast duck mimicking the real royal dish!). The only edible dish was the vegetables but the rest is wanna-be Chinese food. Also, the place is poorly maintained (see the worn stickers on the glass walls and worn corridor leading to the toilets). Service is enthusiastic but amateurish.. just like the food! Forget this place and go across the road for some amazing dim sum & seafood!"

It's my 3rd visit to Bright
Courtyard in less than 4 months and each experience has been great with fantastic food and attentive service. Tables are set with a comfortable distance apart giving diners personal space. Without the toptable deal, this would be considered an expensive restaurant but quality of food is commendable. Would return!"

Had breaded prawns and steamed
dimsum...lovely...Followed by a whole Peking duck...beautifully carved at the table...delicious...crisp skin, tender meat. Chose black bean sauce for the 2nd service of the duck...washed down with iced cold beers. Absolutely perfect ! The waitresses were friendly, efficient without being too present so we were able to chat ande enjoy our meal without being constantly interrupted. Will definately go again and again !"

Lovely and delicious food. Highly
recommend this restaurant - the Top Table discount makes it good value for money. We will be back."
dined on 14/01/2014
Went as a casual friday dinner.
Food is traditional shanghainese food, so expect to be a little bit more sweeter. Recommend pork stew and roast duck."
dined on 10/01/2014
Good location, nice and clean
decor, very good service staffs friendly and welcoming and helpful. lovely atmosphere."
dined on 02/01/2014
Exceptional food, great range of
choices and high quality. Excellent friendly service from the staff and the manager. Highly recommended."
dined on 30/12/2013
The dim sum was good especially
the congee and cheung fun. I really enjoyed those two dishes. Atmosphere is def different to the standard dim sum restaurant. The dim sum there was priced slightly higher than other dim sum restaurants."
dined on 28/12/2013
Good location, nice & bright room.
Good dim sum especially the venison puffs"
dined on 20/12/2013
This is a very good Chinese and a
good alternative to royal China. I still think royal China is better for food but it's very close. Service is better here and less of the rush and commotion of rc."
dined on 24/12/2013
Loved it, it wasn't just Cantonese
or Western pallet gratification, genuine different regional food, wonderful service, priced for location but really good"
dined on 23/12/2013
Slow service as staff were too
busy looking after a Christmas party, I should have deducted the service charge but as I was entertaining a new business client I did not want to make a fuss. The food was very good but they have to organise there service."
dined on 11/12/2013
Have eaten there several times
over the last 18 months and I still maintain it is one of the best, if not the best, Chinese restaurant in London. Fantastic, diverse choice, great quality and service. Highly recommended!!"
dined on 02/12/2013
I like the peking roast duck with
the hand made pancakes. The waiter cuts the roast duck in front of the customer piece by piece which is a traditional way of servicing. The customers enjoy with presentaion and the taste of the food."
dined on 30/11/2013
Nice restaurant, not exceptional
dim sum but it was ok"
dined on 16/11/2013
good ffod - upmarket chinesse but
wouldnt go without the 30% deicount - not worth full value"
dined on 14/11/2013
the best Chinese food we have had
since living in Hong Kong"
dined on 17/11/2013
The food at Bright Courtyard was
excellent - a carefully stylised take on traditional Chinese dishes with unusual presentation. The food was slightly more expensive that anticipated (we shared 4 starters and had some tea, and the bill came to £40 between 2) and the iPad menus were a little fiddly, if not an unnecessary gimmick. I would have preferred to be able to see full-page spreads when making a decision rather than having to flick through images. The service was very good, and the food speak for itself. Recommended for an evening meal."
dined on 09/11/2013
authentic Shanghai dishes and
excellent service, braised belly pork and tea-infused king prawns are must! Ask for table towards the back for special occasions! Highly recommend."
dined on 03/11/2013
Food was worse than usual and
orders for my wife and me came at different times and very late. Happy to try again as this was our first bad experience after many meals - but restaurant must make amends!"
dined on 19/10/2013
Quality of food is great, with
interesting and creative dishes that are fabulously delicious. Service staff are attentive and responsive. Ideal for family meals and business engagements."
dined on 06/10/2013
Bright Courtyard offers good dim
sum in a clean and calm environment. The food is good, though not spectacular, however be aware that unlike other dim sum places the portions are for 3 (as opposed to 4). As such Bright Courtyard will be pricier then other dim sum places, so great for a more "special" occasion. I find the food better and "fresher" tasting then most other places I've tried in London."
dined on 30/09/2013
Food consistently delivers.
Saturday lunch wasn't too busy so service was ok too. Have had bad experiences in the past with the service, but they seem to be sorting it out. For me Royal China has gone down hill, and I would much prefer bright courtyard!"
dined on 17/08/2013
Really enjoyed dining at Bright
Courtyard. The menu was presented to us on an iPad as photos in the photo application. I have to admit it took ages to go through the options so we asked for the paper menu (which they only had one of!). Veggie spring rolls were so so. Chicken Sichuan was great, as was the prawn in sweet and spicy sauce. Overall it was a pleasant dining experience with attentive service. We were a party of 4 and didn't have any wine and the bill was GBP 50 per head which is reasonable for this type of place."
dined on 26/07/2013
I found Bright Courtyard to be
dull and a little disappointing. The reviews on toptable were good and I was hoping for some excellent dim sum. Out of the six dim sum dishes I ordered one was good and the rest were all very average. The service was poor with it taking up to five minutes for me to be able to attract a waiter's attention (I had been seated behind a pillar and my waitress seemed to have her psychological base ten foot away, directly the other side of the pillar)."
dined on 14/05/2013
A Chinese restaurant I was not
even aware of. The room was filled with light and has a funky bar area. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, at times being sat in the corner at the end of the restaurant meant we were a little neglected. The food was divine and great choice to select from."
dined on 08/06/2013
We always enjoy the food here --
fresh, flavourful, beautifully-presented dim sum. We enjoy it all the more as we never feel rushed and the staff are friendly and attentive. The room is bright (we've never actually been in the courtyard section) and the decor modern. The menu is massive. However, whatever we have ordered has been very good. On top of that, they serve freshly-pressed/-squeezed juices. However, if you are going on the weekend, it is very popular with families, so if you need high chair, mention it on your booking. We've been twice when they didn't have a high chair for us. They did, however, give us a chair with a full back and two cushions for our toddler. It would have been an issue with a younger child, though."
dined on 27/05/2013
lovely, very high quality ambience
and food. on the high end of pricing for chinese on average, but it is more 'ocassion' dining so with the quality of the cuisine, i think it makes sense"
dined on 26/05/2013
Booked a family weekend lunch here
after being recommended by a friend who told us about a "posh, Chinese restaurant, serving fantastic Dim Sum at reasonable prices". Staff: friendly & attentive, especially nice to the children. Thrilled to get an IPad from the waiter showing us colourful pictures of the delicious food they served - very innovative! After ordering however, had to wait more than 20 minutes before getting our first dish. The food was really excellent and great value, but service was slightly disappointing. Servers were courteous and polite, but under huge pressure due to staff shortage on the day. However, we really did love this place and will definitely go back. Hopefully they will be better prepared next time we eat there."
dined on 11/05/2013
Still delivers v good quality dim
sum in quality surroundings and good service"
dined on 27/04/2013
Great food and great service.
Options for different types of food was good."
dined on 09/04/2013
Bright Courtyard is now in my top
3 for dim sum in London. Comfortable restaurant with authentic dim sum. Keen to try the Shanghainese menu for dinner next time."
dined on 01/04/2013
Sunday lunch Dim Sum - the
restaurant is a grown up place - big bright & looks good. High ceilings and nice table settings. The service was good. The Dim Sum was very good ( Har Gau, Siu Mai) to average ( Fried Turnip cake - needs more frying to get a better crust, Veg Noodle dish ). On Sunday it opens earlier than the website time of noon - basically at 1130. This is good competition to Royal China opposite which opens earlier still at 11am and serves good Dim Sum too. Its a good alternative to Royal China. Unlike Royal China, this restaurant is much better appointed and very much brighter with lots of natural light. The food is nearly comparable. The price is slightly more expensive. A bright alternative."
dined on 30/03/2013
Bright courtyard knows dim sum. No
MSG, food done delicately as it should be, and served in a professional standard. This restaurant takes pride in its food and service. I've eaten at a lot of good dim sum places here and in Hong Kong. Bright Courtyard reaches an excellent standard."
dined on 23/03/2013
always good, always come back-
shrimp toast beautiful, salt and pepper squid or asparagus perfect- beef ho fun yummy, and what a great roast duck with pancakes- and plenty of pancakes with refills even- th macaroons really good in great variety of flavors"
dined on 17/03/2013
This is the second time we have
dined in this restaurant. The food is unusual, beautifully presented (almost Japanese in style) and extremely tasty. However, despite the staff being very pleasant they really aren't too efficient. They present you with an ipad which contains the menu and the wine list. On both occasions, two out of the four of us were given ipads, the other two were given nothing. When prompted, the staff then gave the remaining two people very basic paper versions of the menu, which we found a little disconcerting. We like the venue very much & the courtyard will prove popular in the summer. Excellent & unusual food. Very lovely decor. We shall return!"
dined on 09/03/2013
Excellent food if a bit pricier
than I usually pay. Met for a business lunch and found the service to be impeccable and the ambience very good - there was enough space between tables actually to have a conversation, which is rare. No anxiety about getting the waiter's attention/waiting for ages between courses - all managed perfectly by staff which meant we could relax and have a good time."
