Bright Courtyard Ratings and Reviews
Disappointing return to Bright Courtyard
Decided to give Bright Courtyard another try after our last experience was just about OK. Unfortunately the service was once again very poor, especially for a high end restaurant. Arrived on time to find table not ready and when we were taken to it it had not been set and we had to ask for cutlery etc. The table was in the path of the many noisy trolleys which are wheeled round the restaurant, which was not relaxing. We have generally enjoyed the food in the past but it lacked flavour and was not well presented (new chefs?). We mentioned our concerns to our waiter but he just looked bored! It's a shame as this is one of our local restaurants - there is lots of competition though so we won't be going back.
Love dim sum? Then love Bright Courtyard.
We are regulars so may have lost objectivity, but this place has wonderful dim sum. Delicate, beautiful presented parcels of joy.
Bright Courtyard Review
I booked this restaurant for a business dinner after reading positive reviews on Opentable. My my what a surprise!! The food was delicious to say the least - everything was well prepared and was super tasty! The ambience was good but not super (if I compare with the Royal China Club which stands just opposite to this one and I have been there earlier). The only improvement that I would suggest was in the service department - it was slow (a simple gin and tonic took ~15 minutes to be delivered) and haphazard (all the starters were being served in a staggered manner). 8 of us went there, had 3 rounds of drinks and quite a lot of food and the bill was ~£450 so roughly £55 per person.
High End Chinese Food
The food is of high end Chinese cuisine. It's as good as you can get in Hong Kong and China. Highly recommend this restaurant. They also serve dim sum.

First time I had dinner at Bright Courtyard, having sampled their excellent dim sum at lunchtimes. Their speciality Shanghainese dishes did not disappoint, try the cold appetiser dishes, as a Chinese person myself I would say this is a great Chinese restaurant with a difference. Service was very attentive and friendly. The room was a little too dark and it is quite pricey but overall, a great culinary experience.
Excellent dim sum
Our regular Sunday dim sum restaurant. Personalised service, excellent dim sum, substantial wine list, and very sweet to our three year old who tends to keep their iPad, given as a menu, to watch Peppa Pig through the meal.

Service was excellent but sitting areas ...
Service was excellent but sitting areas were far to noisy mainly emanating from the the serving carts which are wheeled around the area. Surprisingly good wine list for a Chinese Restaraunt and the Dim Sum menu was especially good. I would return for a dim sum lunch.
Best Chinese food in town
Excellent food with superb service. The Dim Sum is to be specially recommended. A bit pricey but you certainly get what you pay for.

Perfect restaurant for dinner. I would recommend to friends. Good atmosphere with friendly staff. Fantastic fresh dim sum and lotus leaf sticky rice.
Our regular weekend dim sum venue
Love it. It's child friendly, they always remember us and food is consistently great.
Best Chinese Restaurant in Mayfair
The Dim Sum has many imaginative dishes and is definitely the best Dim Sum available in London. The comprehensive a la carte menu provides an excellent choice of dishes and the Cantonese Duck is one of our favourites. Whatever one chooses from the menu you can be confident of having an enjoyable meal. The staff are invariably pleasant and attentive - we use this restaurant primarily for family dining, but the quality makes it a very appropriate venue for business entertaining. As a frequent diner at the Bright Courtyard I have no hesitation in recommending it to all who appreciate Chinese cuisine.
No better than a standard Chinese
It wasn't bad but to me no different that a standard Chinese. I didn't like one of my dishes and in other higher priced restaurants the waitor would normally ask if I'd like anything else although this didn't happen. Husband liked his food but no more special than our local Chinese.
my favourite chinese restaurant
my boss suggested this place, and found the food amazing here. Shanghai Cuisine, absolutely loving it. I think it will become my favorite Chinese restaurant in London! Just recommended my friends to go last Sunday, and they all love the food, every single dish.
An evening out with the wife
Apart from a false start which was my fault we had a wonderful evening and chose the Alaskan Crab set menu which was super. The restaurant was huge but it didn't feel so and had a good atmosphere, the staff were kind, attentive but not OTT and I would especially like to thank Davis for his patience. Thank you.
The whole group of eight friends were very impressed with the very high standard of the food and the excellent and attentive service. It would be difficult to find better even in London. One has already said he would go back the following weekend with his family. A most relaxed and enjoyable lunch in a terrific atmosphere.
Excellent dim sum, excellent service
I heard about Bright Courtyard through a good friend, who has been telling me for years that this is her favourite dim sum restaurant. I finally went on 16 May for the first time... but it won't be the last! Sure, it's more expensive than other dim sum places but the quality of the food was excellent and the service far superior to any other Chinese restaurant I've come across in London. We ordered 8 or 9 dim sum dishes and jasmine tea for two. This was more than enough food for my boyfriend and I (and we do have healthy appetites). With service, this came to £60 total. The mixed mushroom cheung fun, chicken siu mai with black truffle and pork taro croquettes were highlights, as was the fried durian pastry. All of the waiters were friendly and efficient, without being overly attentive. We really enjoyed the meal and are looking forward to going back soon.
Excellent as always......
I have not been to BC for nearly a year. I took a couple of colleagues there for lunch during the week. They were highly impressed by everything on offer; food, wine, service, the friendly atmosphere and as always the ever efficient waiting staff. From my personal point of view the food was incredible as ever but I missed the seabass appetiser which is no longer on the menu!
The mixed reviews made it difficult to decide weather we should go or not. But we did, it's not got the feel or ambience of Hakkasan but more of a mellow quiete restaurant. Nice bar, menu has so much variety and the food is tasty not full of salt like some places. Service was ok, however our waiter just kept bringing two glasses of wine when asked for one bit annoying because We had to pay for it.
Very good food.
I went to Bright Courtyard for a business occasion. The presentation of dishes are exquisite and they are also delicious - my clients really liked the beef brisket dish in their seasonal menu. The waiter would spend time to recommend dishes based on your requirement. We went for a-la-carte and the per head cost was around £35 - £40 (without wine). Would recommend for people who would go for high-end Chinese dining.

Very good service and the ambiance is pleasant. Some of the dim sum items can be improved.
Nice dim sum
I went there to have dim sum brunch with my friends on Sunday. When we arrived there around 1:30pm, it was not that busy but getting busier so you should book a table in advance just in case. Dim sum was really nice, they have variety and everything I ate was delusions!
a good choice in west end
the place is massive - most of it empty. But the food was good. Interesting, different dishes. very friendly staff. when we went there were 2 or 3 large groups of hen parties being very loud and boisterous. But that didnt detract from our enjoyment. Plenty of street parking outside the restaurant. I would definitely go again
Excellent and child friendly chinese
We eat here often, and often receive very attentive and personal service. The dimsum is really good, up there with the much recommended Royal China and Phoenix Palace. Something I haven't taken advantage of is the rather exceptional wine list and I caught sight of some rather exciting bottles as I walked out last trip. We tend to go on a Sunday and it's nice that there are other small children in what is actually quite a smart restaurant so we never feel like our child is the noisiest!
Good food, bit slow but it was Chinese New Year,
Nice dim sums, was about 20-25 a head. Worth it if you want a pleasant atmosphere and good services vs chinatown where things can be a bit hectic. They also take bookings which makes it much easier
bright courtyard had nice relaxed atmosphere the staff where pleasant and professional at all time .The only criticism is that it was too cold there was not source of heating for the venue

Food was great best Chinese service was a little slow had to ask waiter to clear the table as the plates was left for nearly 25 mins waiter never asked how the food was so never knew if we really enjoyed it but food was absolutely great and staff other then that was great
Not that valuable
This restaurant just does not match its high price , not very good service , food taste good cause there is too much gourmet powder which makes me feel so thirsty ， so I will not recommend it to my friends : f
Happy Belated New Years Every1.
I When there with my boyfriend for our Last End Of Year Dated. We loved it very nice food nice came hot and was served to us. White Wine was nice but I would of like a bit more for £9.00. Love that they give you an Ipad to view the menu what better way to see pictures of what you are eating help you decide what to eat. Only thing I didn't like was that it was cold inside turn up the heating please.
Sadly, bettered by strong local competition
Dinner with business colleagues. Food was ok, but with Royal China Club opposite and Phoenix Palace nearby, not particularly competitive on quality and significantly over-priced. Service was very poor (although friendly): slow and forgetful on a number of occasions. Felt throughout like a restaurant that just wasn't trying.
We had a very good meal on a busy Saturday evening. Our soups arrived at different times but apart from that it was a great dining experience with very flavoursome food and not like the greasy food served in the suburbs! Would definately go back.
Finally a good Chinese restaurant in London!
The food was really quite good and authentic, not the product of some improvised chef, as it seems the case for most of the tourist traps in Chinatown. The waiting staff was attentive, without being fastidious. It is not cheap, but you won't go bankrupt like in Hakkasan.
Tried the buffet dim sum with a friend , excellent cheungfun, good selections of dumplings and various dim sum but not as prolific as the established rival Royal China associates across the street , bar is good modern contemporary decoration , no draft beer , expensive wine available including vintage Lafite , Latour and Margaux . Slightly above average cost for a lunch for 2 but worth it .
This Restaurant lives up to its reputation! Food was excellent, we only have appetisers but made a meal out of it ordering about 8 or 9 different dishes!! each dish out did the next. by far our favourite dishes were the king prawns with mango and passion fruit sauce and the crispy soft shell crab salad. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly, each free member of staff greeted us as we arrived and were escorted to our table and again said good bye as we left, always with a smile on their faces. The Prices of the dishes are on the high side but the quality of the food that we ate was excellent. If the Prices were slightly less them it would get 5 stars all round from us.
A lovely surprise....
A nice setting with very good food with attentive service and a great wine list.
Visit here for 4 times during my London Trip
Excellent services, good dim sum and we can order dishes not in the menu.
We made a reservation for 7.30pm. The service was attentive to start with, and the starter was very good. Unfortunately from there on it nose dived. We ordered an additional bottle of water, and requested it again 20 mins later to no avail. Our mains arrived which were cold and the noddles took a further 15 minutes to arrive. Overall it was rather disappointing.
We took a party of 5 to the restaurant for an evening. Even though this was at one of their busier times the service was exceptional. The food is very good and we will definitely be returning to this restaurant again. I would highly recommend it!
