A word from Bread Street Kitchen
A lively and exciting new restaurant and bar from the team at Gordon Ramsay restaurants and the home to a relaxed dining experience set in a large warehouse style space, drawing inspiration from the East London aesthetic that surrounds it. At the heart of the Bread Street Kitchen offering is an informal approach to dining. Guests can meet, eat and drink from early morning until late at night. Underpinned by great service and a menu that includes a raw bar, a wood burning oven and dishes from the lively open kitchen. Guests will also be able to take in the incredible wine balcony which will stretch along the walls of the kitchen holding no less than 2000 bottles of wine. Open from breakfast the all day restaurant offers an extensive wine and bespoke cocktail list alongside a seasonal menu. Diners can enjoy a lazy sit down over a cider braised pork collar and king crab cocktail or grab a quick ceviche of salmon with grapefruit, jalapeño lime and coriander at the more relaxed Raw Bar.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Overall a fantastic evening, with outstanding food. The only down side was having to wait a while for the bill, but one reminder and it was fine."

  • "Went for a mid-week team dinner with 5 colleagues and found the service, food and ambience to be excellent. We ordered a selection of starters to share and a main course each plus sides. The menu provided a balanced selection of meat, fish and vegetarian dishes to suit all tastes and the food was enjoyed by all. A great venue for a group night out."

  • "The place is huge, but always busy which means there is a wonderful buzz and atmosphere most times. The decor and fittings are great, and the various table sizes means its perfect for small tete-a-tete to large groups of people. The menu is not huge, but has lots of variation, from fish, to vegetarian to the highly recommended meats! We found the food was well cooked, good sized portions and very tasty. The wine list is extensive, offering lots of choice from about £25 to hundreds.... Finally, we had a very attentive waitress but who never disturbed us, so our meal was eaten at a nice leisurely pace without feeling rushed, or without waiting too long between courses. I'd recommend a visit the Bread Kitchen any time!"

  • "Great location with great food. Good ambience, big open space and the menu was full of lots of choices to suit all."
    dined on 03/04/2014
  • "Main dish contained a strip of plastic from a bottle top. Hostess accommodated by reducing bill."

  • "Very nice space with an eclectic decor. Our waiter was very friendly and quite attentive. The self-serve Bloody Mary bar was quite good as was the house spice mix.The food was tasty but a bit overcooked for my liking. Overall though a nice experience."

  • "You really want to buy the Ramsay name when you go there..."
    dined on 05/04/2014
  • "There was a live 2 member band that performed during our sunday lunch visit. Spoke to waiter and manager about the music volume, but was told that other diners have complained about it too, but it is not possible to adjust it. How ridiculous, especially when there were young children dining on tables nearest to the stage which is at the front of the restaurant."

  • "The food was mostly good but not great. The starters were really tasty, but mains disappointed; a very salty mash under my cod fillet (which was quite nice itself), the lamb my companion had was a bit stringy, a far cry from the lamb shoulder I've had in Wales where they simply melt in your mouth, and sea trout which was tender but flavourless. Panna cotta was good itself but the rhubarb it was served with didn't taste very fresh (and it's in season now!). Overall, seemed like every dish that was served was almost good but was served with something that spoiled the effect! With a bill of over £200 (incl drinks and 'optional' service charge), I would expect a better quality meal. On the + side: quick & polite service and great cocktails."

  • "Ok so it's a really cool and interesting space. The menu is extensive and offers a lot of choice BUT service is quite poor. This was my second time and both times the staff have been a bit all over the place and not very knowledgable and the food took some time to arrive on both occasions. We asked abut a wine reccommendation and the waitress looked like a deer in headlights and couldn't help. The food is good but at this price and being a Ramsey, I would expect more from the dining experience than luke warm champagne and dry lamb shank. My husbands mashed potato was heavenly though as was my cod. However - getting allergy advice wrong is BAD! Lastly why a £2 p.p. cover charge apparently for napkins - insanity!"

  • "We were greeted like old friends despite this being our first visit, and enjoyed an evening of very good food, great service and interesting surroundings. Will definitely return soon."
    dined on 03/04/2014
  • "The athomsphere is great. Very warnly welcomed. After seated the service is no better than a regular pub. No knowledge of the dishes, size of kids portions, wine recommendations etc. Unfortunately all a disappointment. Had the surf and turf with lobster and beef, the meet was dry, the lobster good, chips cold. Cost £35, not worth it. Staff ok, but not showing any energy or positivism."

  • "Have been to Bread Street for breakfast and lunch, and coffees on the ground floor. A little hot in there ( and potentially slippy floors!). Food is well done, service efficient, staff very good. Prefer the ground floor as it is more relaxed and the bar manager remembers you and welcomes you, though that is more for coffee/ drinks."
    dined on 02/04/2014
  • "Booked day before and managed to get a table despite it being Mother's Day. Prices fair and food was good. Perhaps at least one more vegetarian option for main courses would be good as one of my party was vegetarian and there wasn't much to choose from. Service was fine except pudding's were very slow; we were in no rush so were not troubled. However, completely unprompted, when we got the bill we were told we would not be charged for puddings due to delay -I was extremely impressed by proactivity and consideration shown."
    dined on 30/03/2014
  • "What can I say? Gordon's beats Jamie's on food quality, taste and design - been back twice now in 2 months trying diff items on the menu and each time is a taste experience I would definitely suggest the Pork Belly for gluttonous meat eaters!!"
    dined on 29/03/2014
  • "From a Gordon Ramsay restaurant, you expect high quality at high prices. this only delivered on the second half of that equation."
    dined on 31/03/2014
  • "really enjoyed all the times i have eaten here. food is great and so is the service. its a bit pricey and sometimes the music is a bit too loud but geat other than that."
    dined on 21/09/2013
  • "I suggested the venue for Mother's Day having been before and enjoyed the food. The food was great but the service was quite poor. We received the wrong starter and instead of apologising and offering to swap it the waiter's initial reaction was to say that was what we ordered. It was swapped in the end. There was a long wait to take away our plates after the main course and we were not offered fresh drinks during the meal. We ordered dessert and waited for 10 or so minutes to be told that the dessert had run out. I would, however, still recommend the restaurant as the food is good but perhaps not for an occasion as they did not seem to cope very well with a full restaurant."
    dined on 30/03/2014
  • "Efficiently welcomed and good service. Quality of food was superb - as was wine. Only issue was that Sunday music was too loud - even at some distance from the musicians. Also on a Sunday lunch there were a LOT of families with young children. Happily they were well behaved - but for an adult group be aware that on Sunday lunchtime you may be surrounded by children."
    dined on 30/03/2014
  • "We went for Mothers Day lunch with our two children-aged 1 and 3 - everyone was very welcoming and the restaurant is child friendly with a lift for buggies. The restaurant had a relaxed feel, the roast dinner was great and the childrens food was flavoursome (I often find it can be bland) all reasonably priced service was good and we didn't feel rushed would definitely recommend to friends - would be excellent for a group of friends/family gathering"
    dined on 30/03/2014
  • "The restaurant is ideal for a family lunch. The food (although a little but pricey) was great. Will definitely come back."
    dined on 29/03/2014
  • "Loved my business lunch there. The place is huge, but you can still have a private conversation. Food menu has a good selection of dishes, although vegetarians may struggle with their choices. Our starters came out early, it took a bit longer for the mains to come out."
    dined on 28/03/2014
  • "Went for lunch on a Saturday. Good food and a great decor, could have done with being slightly busier to give the restaurant more atmosphere as it is a large space to fill."
    dined on 22/02/2014
  • "Very impressive room upstairs and food was interesting and delicious. Not cheap but had a good time."
    dined on 13/03/2014
  • "Quite noisy and not very private but convenient for a quick, informal meal"
    dined on 26/03/2014
  • "We had a good business lunch here, but found that as it filled up service did slow down - tricky when you're trying to get back to the office but still want to order dessert! Food was great."
    dined on 25/03/2014
  • "The food was outstanding, my boyfriend commented on how great it all was after every mouthful. Not to mention the service was amazing. There was a young girl who served us she was so lovely and explained what was gluten free for me in great detail. We will be going back :)"
    dined on 23/03/2014
  • "This is a great place for a good meal but it is rather noisy and full of city types drinking lots and making a din! However, the food is delicious!"
    dined on 12/12/2013
  • "Our visit to this restaurant was on friday afternoon, on a quiet moment. The entrance from the street level was little bit confusing as the curtains inside were drawn in front of the doors and first it looked like the door is locked. Closer inspection revealed that this is not the case and we managed to let ourselves in :) Staff was very helpfull and friendly from the start, except one of the waitresses upstairs was polite but looked like she couldn't care less and smile wasn't available on that day. Food was very good and followed well the mantra what Gordon has been repeating on his TV shows, basic, simple and tasty. Can't fault anything in it really, bit salty to my taste, but i don't use salt much anyways. Highly recommended."

  • "Great night out with the girls. Very nice food. Slightly overpriced."
    dined on 20/03/2014
  • "The chicken wing starter and lamb shank taste so delicious. Beware if its an evening meal! ..the sauces on them are so rich and sugary they keep you awake for hours."
    dined on 20/03/2014
  • "Great place for post-work drinks and dinner. Food is excellent without being terribly pricey. One has to put up with the noise of chatter though since the open concept of the restaurant doesn't provide for much sound absorption."
    dined on 27/02/2014
  • "While I don't think this was the BEST food I've ever had, it was cooked expertly and was very enjoyable as a foodie. I will say, though, that the panna cotta was quite possibly one of the most heavenly, perfect balanced dishes I've ever had the pleasure to eat. I was stuffed after the main course and still ate all of it myself. I also don't know that I would consider the food to be worth quite as much as what I paid for it, but the experience was well worth it. The ambiance was perfect and I loved being able to see the staff cooking. The wait staff was outstanding as well. Wonderful! Very glad I came."
    dined on 19/03/2014
  • "Amazing food, excellent staff. The place is the best restaurant I went so far, cause it has informality and excellent food combined."
    dined on 15/03/2014
  • "Very nice food, lots of options, staff were very friendly. It does get noisy when it is busy"
    dined on 13/03/2014
  • "Very good food, and very nice and friendly staff! Will be back!! :)"

  • "We decided to try Bread Street on a Saturday evening. It was remarkably disappointing. The food was fine, no more than that. The service was similarly pedestrian. Indeed the whole experience, apart from the bill, felt a bit like going to Jamie's Kitchen or, worse, Strada (both of which are fine for what they are - and not for the £100 bill). We had starters and main courses and a couple of non-alcoholic cocktails for £100. We had lost the will to have any pudding. We had no booze. So £100 may not be the most expensive meal ever but neither is it a run of the mill evening and I think you ought at least to be made to feel a little special for the money - that is sadly not the case here."

  • "Bread Street Kitchen never fails to impress - the food is great and the service outstanding. Not cheap but a good night out."
    dined on 03/03/2014
  • "This is my go to venue for meeting people for a city breakfast. Menu is good, service is efficient, food is tasty and all in all a great place for breakfast."
    dined on 14/03/2014
  • "I had only before been to BSK for lunch when it was fine, food excellent, a large airy space, plenty of room between tables and a good place to talk. Coming back with friends for dinner I was completely surprised by the level of noise on a Friday evening. The place was packed, there was loud music, and talking quietly was completely impossible. That said the staff did all they could, the food was of a high standard and it was an experience to see the middle ranks of the City at play."
