Lovely restaurant, although it is underground the decor and lighting work perfectly. Food really stands out, and even moreso then that the service was very welcoming and warm. We weren't rushed through our food even though the restaurant was full on a thursday night and when the bill arrived there weren't any waiter's etc passing by not so subtly checking whether or not i had placed my card to pay.

The staff here are just superb and the service is attentive without being over fussy. The food was fabulous, the steak tartare divine, followed by a twist on the traditional version of beef bourguignon.. I must admit, I absolutely loved their Beef roast - was fabulous. The cheese trolley is a delight - wine list fab. Great way to spend a Sunday! The service from the minute we arrived was excellent, even to the point where after ordering a drink one of the staff whisked my glass away without me noticing because they had spotted a small chip on the glass. Yes you pay a small premium but the quality and flavours of the food we ordered was well it. The restaurant itself was of a very high standard and I like the fact that you can see the chefs cooking while you eat. When you enter the restaurant's building you don't know what to expect since the hostess ushers you downstairs; however, upon reaching the basement floor, the restuarant's character is on full display. We arrived 10 mins early, so we decided to have drinks at the bar first (though our tables were already ready). The bar is small, but the bartender and his drinks recommendations made up for any lack of space. He was friendly, engaging, and really considered my interests/tastes as he prepared two amazing whiskey cocktails. The dinner was divine, and the staff was impeccable, responding to the slightest head nod. Well, the overall service was impeccable & the dessert they ordered arrived with "happy birthday" written in chocolate on the plates. The table was right in the middle if the room from where we could also see the kitchen!
We had a great meal (although the menu was different from my previous time in June 12) and I found the prices were reviewed to adapt to current times. I would suggest this place to anybody that is looking for a great atmosphere, a great service and an incredible meal!

Then into the restaurant where (if you too are fortunate), you'll be seated facing the kitchen which exudes an air of professional hub-bub behind glass screening. Everyone's on show. It's a great space, full of interesting art and design features, that manages to create a sense of occasion whilst retaining a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. The lunch menu is terrific value, with the charcuterie selection a real stand-out. Lamb cutlets were beautifully cooked, and the recommended bottle of pinot noir was a perfect match. The venu is stunning, the perfect relaxing environment to dine in. It's a modern French à la carte menu, with a choice of five (or six) option for each course. All the starters we picked we're delicious. For then main, five of us opted for the roast beef and Yorkshire pudding, which i must say was the best I've ever tasted. After a few more bottles of wine we were sadly too full for dessert as they looked wonderful. We had coffees and our waiter gave us a plate of handmade truffles. The bill came to £55 each, great value for such quality. Not too loud , good ambience. Excellent service staff. Professional and not intrusive. The restaurant is fine dining but not 'over the top'. I would describe the food a classic French, but brought well up to date in terms of flavours and presentation. Choices were wide and varied, but not bewildering; each dish was well explained.
There is a delightful wine list, although some are eye-wateringly expensive - but there is something to suit all budgets. Based on French cuisine, I found the menu options varied and contemporary. The oysters a good standard start but the cheese souffle created gasps of wonderment. All meat perfectly cooked and seasoned. Service was polite and regular and nothing was too much trouble. There is a fabulous little bar area to wait in - great if your friends are notoriously late! The decor and atmosphere astounded me; so interesting, unusual. Definitely worth coming here on a special occasion. However, our table was right behind the someliers' table and therefore quite hidden, which made it difficult sometimes to find a waiter.
