About Boundary Restaurant
The restaurant's à la carte menu is based on classic and traditional French recipes, with a large selection of fruits de mer. The intention is to offer simple and delicious French regional food alongside quintessential dishes such as escargot à la bourguignonne or cuisses de grenouille, as well as the more indulgent treats such as foie gras, Dover sole, côte de veau and game.
Seasonal ingredients from the British Isles such as grouse, hare, asparagus and gulls eggs, together with truffles from France and Italy, are all included when available. Charcuterie, oysters, smoked wild salmon, daily-changing roast meats from the rotisserie and cheese are served from chariots in the dining room. The pudding menu always includes a glamorous soufflé and madeleines baked to order.

Boundary Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Excellent food, and a really nice atmosphere. The OpenTable menu has some good options, and the wine list is enormous.
I went here with my mum and dad for a birthday dinner, and we had an excellent and very memorable meal. The room is beautiful, the service faultless and the food is excellent. I've not had service at this level in London for a long time. We had 3 courses each with coffee and wine and the bill came to about £100 / head. So it's not cheap, but it is good value - the food and service really are a cut above most other places. The room is in the basement, which on a cold November evening was welcoming and very cosy, but on a warm summer day you might prefer somewhere with windows. Highly recommended for a special occasion.
Delightful place to eat
Boundary is a lovely place to enjoy a sophisticated meal with a loved one. Great quality, tasty meals with great service to match.

Just didn't quite hit the mark with me. My beef main was tough and the bread was slightly stale. Having said that, my wife's meal was excellent and delivered what it promised. For £200 including two cocktails at the roof bar, starters, mains, two glasses of wine and a 500ml carafe I regrettably think you can do better. Only the service was truly exceptional.

Very good service with incredible food. Everyone on our table are food snobs and all their food was very enjoyable including the brilliantly selected wine by the Boundary. The food was very rich in taste with with interesting flavours. I will be back.
Good Food in a Friendly Cave
Don't let the walk down to the basement put you off. Good food, well presented in a room lit up by the hard working kitchen on display. The prix fixe menu is particularly good value.

Went with friends to Boundary again - attentive service and great food . Have never been disappointed
Three cheers for not pushing the boundaries
This is a French restaurant that isn't interested in pushing the envelope of gastronomy, it's interested in delivering French cuisine to a very high level, and backing it up with excellent service, a novel-length wine list, excellent cocktails and one of London's finest dining rooms, in the basement of the Boundary hotel. Steak tartar, roasted scallops, glazed duck, spinach and feta tortellini, braised beef... all bloody delicious. And after a delicious meal, a jaunt up to the rooftop bar for a brilliant view of East London, lots of champagne, and more cocktail. Recommended. Highly.
The restaurant has a very modern feel with a full view of the kitchen. The waiters were very helpful with the choice of wines and food. My dishes were a bit strange , ie I didn't feel the flavors went together too well, a little bit too 'recherche'.
Terrible Food so Disappointing
Terrible, just terrible. I do not like posting negative reviews, as I worked for a few years in the catering and hospitality sector, as such I tend to be a lot more indulgent as a restaurant can't always give a mind blowing experience every time. In this case I think the best experience will be mediocre at best based on my recent experience at this restaurant. Crab starter ok Roast cod tasteless and swimming in a horrid liquid of lentils and puréed celery. French fries dry, hard and needed a lot of salt to be half-way edible. We informed the waitress of how terrible the food tasted, she shrugged. To be honest what could she do, all she can do is transport the horrid food from the kitchen to the table. The house rose wine was acrid and tasted like nail varnish remover. All in all a horrendous experience, for which we paid £127. Never again!
fantastic restaurant and wonderful service
I celebrated my birthday here. And it was fantastic. The service from the staff was good too. Very helpful and friendly. They even gave me a happy birthday dessert which was a nice touch. The roof top bar has a brilliant view and nice to enjoy after dinner drinks
Boundary 18th September
Had a 50th birthday meal for 6. Have dined here before twice and on both occasions had excellent food and service. Great space too. I was slightly disappointed this time however with the food (scallops on the small side), lamb not exceptional, and also the service. Our wine waiter was a bit absent minded. It was still a good evening but I had hoped to remember the meal more fondly.

Located in the basement, this restaurant will surprise you with a very elegant and relaxed atmosphere. Food is nice and service is outstanding.
Shame about the service
Food was brilliant but let down by absent minded service throughout the dinner.

Good service and nice roof deck
The service was outstanding and incredibly attentive. The food was good, though not extraordinary, given the prices. I liked the cocktail menu a great deal and found the selection of cocktail offerings varied and innovative. This is an ideal place for a date you want to impress or a post-dinner cocktail on the roof, which was fantastic and has a large enclosed area for bad weather.

Super French Supper in Shoreditch
I took my wife and daughter to the Boundary Restaurant last week for dinner. Its in a very lively area full of bars and restaurants, and city workers, so standards are generally high. The Boundary restaurant is downstairs a level or so, and at first I was worried it was just a dingy converted basement, but once you get inside, you the high ceiling stretches up almost to ground level and you can see daylight through some windows. It makes an interesting layout!. Service was superb, food excellently made and presented, and everyone was impressed. We had a couple of bottles of wine, which bumped the price up, but the food prices were not outrageous. Recommended for an upscale night out.
I have eaten at the Boundary on at least 19 occasions and have never had anything other than an exceptional meal. It really is one of the finest restaurants in London,

Had an excellent dinner here Monday night, took a client from Texas and he loved it!!! Really felt special.
Family Sunday Lunch
We took our two adult sons for Sunday lunch at Boundary. We had been before for dinner. The lunch was a set menu with choices for the main course. It was beautiful food served in a relaxed but professional way. We really enjoyed ourselves and the day was a success. They even brought a small cake with a candle for our son! One small niggle was that the lowest price white wine was £40 and it was very average.
A good birthday meal
We had a lovely time at Boundary last weekend (June 26th) - a birthday dinner for my partner. We chose this restaurant because it looked beautiful, had a reasonable "prix fixe" menu and positive reviews. In many ways, we weren't disappointed - we were running horrifyingly late, and the restaurant was very gracious about keeping a table for us, close to the kitchen, without complaint. The guinea fowl that we both had for our main - an unusual choice for a set menu - was beautifully cooked, with buttery vegetables and a light sauce. The ambience was gorgeous, and the waiter was kind enough to not only organise a chocolatey "happy birthday" message on my partner's dessert, but also to reserve us a space on the rooftop to finish our wine. However - there were problems too. Service was very slow when we first arrived, and we struggled to order our food. My starter of chilled courgette soup was bland and very heavy with olive oil, and my partner's charcuterie platter had some very questionable choices of terrine on it, which were salty and/or tasteless. Our cocktails were similarly lacking in flavour - my partner's Old Fashioned in particular, which took some time to arrive (a good sign, I thought, as they should really take at least 10 minutes to prepare) was essentially just a big glass of strong whisky over ice. No taste of orange at all. Both our creme brulees, sadly, had quite a strong "burnt" taste - a shame, as the creme itself was lovely. This did mean that when the bill arrived, which was sizeable, I felt a little piqued. Don't get me wrong, we had a great time, but I think we could have eaten better elsewhere. All in all, I'm very glad we went - it's a beautiful and accommodating restaurant - but I don't think we'll be returning.

Good though Uninventive food. Gets customers more because of location than what's in the plate. Disappointing.
Excellent service, food and ambience!
We started with a couple of drinks at the rooftop terrace. Weather was great, but even if it hadn't be they have an area with a glass ceiling so you can enjoy London outdoors. When we got to the restaurant dowstairs, the staff showed us to a great table in the middle of the room, but it still felt private and the sound level was absolutely to live with even though there were quite a few people dining. I asked the waiter for recommendations, as they had too many yummie choices and I was unable to choose. I ended up with the beef and my friends with the lamb. For a starter I went with the scallops. Both the beef and the lamb was top notch! We were even lucky enough to get the last bottle of the Crozes Hermitage Entincelle 2011. Unfortunately we did not have room for dessert, however when we got our coffee, we also got some delishious sweets which basically made the meal complete.
Sommelier recommendations excellent
We really enjoyed our meal here. It was the perfect choice for an anniversary meal. The food was great and the service was attentive but not intrusive. In particular the sommelier was excellent. All his recommendations were spot on for the food, plus he correctly sized up our price range.
Good service.. Lack lustre food
Booked for four Friday night based on good reviews for the food. Reservation and staff straight forward and went very smooth. Restaurant was nice with a relaxed seating arrangement. Ordered the oysters to start - they were very fresh and went down well. We all ordered the £25 set courses. Pre prepared starter arrived - it was OK but very bland. The main was guinea fowl which arrived hot but unfortunately for all 4 of us the meat was over cooked and again this was tasteless . Finally dessert , creme brûlée - the top had been burnt which really spoiled the final dish.. Service was great throughout.. Extremely hungry so eat the food, did not bother to send it back as did not want to spoil our night. After dinner went to rooftop bar for a drink. Again staff were friendly, ordered a blackberry mojito circa £10 but this arrived, looked like it had been taken from a pre made up batch and was more like a fruit punch with no alcohol to be tasted at all.. Overall service was good but let down as we were all disappointed by the food and drink throughout .. there are far better options in the same post code
Good food in a lovely restaurant. We were also able to go to the rooftop afterwards for a drink. Overall had a great time.
Absolutely delicious food
An interesting restaurant, we thought not open for very long. The food and cooking were outstanding, quite delicious. We had the fixed price menu since we were going to a music event - few choices but really good and excellent value. For us the service was a bit hesitant but this was possibly because we were eating early and the restaurant wasn't in full swing. Everyone was very charming and helpful, however. The ambience was quite smart which we enjoyed. We'll definitely be going back for a more leisurely meal.
I would recommend pre dinner drinks on the roof terrace and dinner downstairs. The roof terrace provides some great views and cocktails to go with them. Te food at the downstairs restaurant is exceptional. Service is consistently great.
We enjoyed it a lot.
We are only starting to explore London restaurant but this one is definitely among the best we tried so far. Can't say it it completely blew our mind because we didn't try anything new this time but the things we tried were really good. Service and interior were ok as well.
We took friends for a birthday celebration. It was our second visit. We started at the rooftop bar (which had to be booked separately with a deposit) and then moved downstairs to the restaurant. Although we went straight up to the rooftop on arrival our friends had to wait nearly 10 minutes for a lift. Going down there was such a queue we walked the five floors down the back stairs. More fun than it sounds! All the food we had was outstanding. The extensive wine list has a useful summary page listing wines under £35, with some interesting selections from Southern France. Can paticularly recommend the IGP "gros manseng blend". We were exceptionally well looked after both in the bar and in the restaurant. Our friends were delighted and the evening was a great success. We shall return again.
Tasty Food, Spacious Surroundings
The food was extremely tasty. I particularly like the fact that there was plenty of room to sit and move within the restaurant and there was no rush to move us on for a "second sitting" which is becoming increasingly common elsewhere.
Second visit as anniversary dinner.
Prixe fixed menu should not be sniffed at. Good value, and tasty - we like the charcuterie, although last time we had the opportunity to curate the dish it still didn't disappoint. The sommelier is lovely as is the rest of the service. A charming bunch!!
Food was very disappointing.
My starter, moules, was in a creamy sauce which was salty and this swallowed the tast of moules. As main dish I took the turbot, either it was not fresh or cooked frozen - I am a fish lover so, I know what I'm talking about; it was not good. The yogurt sorbet was perfect. A friend from Switzerland was my guest that night. She started with asparagus, which was okay. And as main dish she took poulet with truff - poulet was not cooked properly, which is no go. Also the service was poor. The decoration is pleasant and aesthetic. I would not recommend this restaurant.
Exceptional but only for a special treat, as expensive but love this place and would definitely go back for a celebration.
Great experience altogether
I booked Boundary based on lots of positive reviews and I can just be in agreement with them. Boundary is a great restaurant with a simple but exceptional menu, serving excellent food in a very professional manner. We booked a table for 4 of us to celebrate a friends former colleagues reunion. As a couple of us were flying in from Italy the booking had to be rearranged twice from the initial 19:30 all the way to 21:00 and still the ladies at reception managed to hold a table for us and serve us what I consider a great dinner with friends. Lovely ambience, quite and relaxed I would recommend it to anyone for an important business meeting as well as as for a romantic dinner. Prices are perfectly in line with market value for the high quality of the food and drinks they serve.
A night out with clients
The venue is great - pre dinner drinks on the roof garden followed by dinner - excellent french cooking in the vaulted basement which still allows in some natural light. The only negative was the service where everyone seemed to have a different job to the one I needed at the time. We enjoyed our evening though.
Brilliant as always - best in Shoredith
Lovely meal and atmosphere - some value with the set menu - only gripe was the maitre d' was a bit too French and surly this time.
Fantastic Trendy Restsurant
My friends & I had a great evening here Saturday. The decor & atmosphere were fab, loved the separate bar area and the open kitchen. I had the crab , salmon & caviar with bilinis to start, stunning. Then the monkfish, very good but I could have done with ordering more sides. Then a delicious strawberry parfait although I was rather jealous of my friend who had the raspberry soufflé . The staff were all wonderfully friendly & helpful. Not a cheap evening but will definitely be back. Would love to try the rooftop area , people were queuing to get in.
