About Bocca Di Lupo
Jacob Kenedy and Victor Hugo opened Bocca di Lupo in November 2008. The restaurant has since received various awards and accolades for its stripped-down, honest regional Italian cuisine. Despite the buzzy feel and glamourous surroundings, we are a family business, a small and humble trattoria at heart. We specialise in the obscure and the delicious highlights of food and wine from all across Italy's twenty regions. If we can make something ourselves, we do - gelati, breads, sausages, salame, pickles, mostarda, and pasta of course - the rest is carefully sourced from Italy. A selection of Italian wines and home-made and imported foods is available for delivery, along with our famous gelato, from Gelupo.

Bocca Di Lupo Ratings and Reviews
Another delightful evening - albeit a quick pre- theatre dinner - at BDL. This was the first time we had supper this way, super early. BDL couldn't have handled it better with the rapid service, suggestions for menu choice and speed of delivery from the kitchen. As always, everything was melt-in-the-mouth delicious. Close your eyes and you drift away to thoughts of Italy with every mouthful. Thank you team BDL.
Busy, busy and noisy, noisy, but absolutely great!
Delicious food. Big portions. We had all sorts of different things including a big fat sausage with polenta, a roasted small chicken, caponata, chickpeas. All delicious. Staff extremely nice and very efficient.
A relaxing and enjoyable lunch with a close friend, attentive service and good food. The counter works for lunch but for dinner request a table.
we chose badly!
A lovely place, very good food but we could have used a bit of guidance from the waitress, as we mistakenly ordered mostly fried things from the menu, and too much food, as well. In places with 'small plates' they vary so much in size it is always difficult to gauge how much to order, and we wanted to order just a few dishes quickly, to start, and then choose the 'mains' part of the meal, but were rushed to order it all at once. (It was not at all busy). 2.30 pm. I wanted soft shell crab as a main and the waitress said something about prawns included and I said okay. Long story short, 'small' i.e. one crab is £10. 'Large' instead of 2 crabs was 1 crab and 4 fairly ordinary prawns. For £20. I want to go back, as the quality was very good, food interesting and lovely atmosphere, but my husband won't.
Amazing food, amazing experience.
We had lunch at the chef's counter. Watching the kitchen staff work during rush hour was an amazing, intense experience. The food was outstanding and the service attentive. Our lunch at this restaurant was a very special experience!

I'd been anticipating my visit to Bocca as several friends had recommended it. We were seated at the chefs table and we loved the smells, showiness and buzz. The waitress was very informed and made some excellent suggestions- service was impressive. Every grain of food was delicious and my mouth waters just thinking about it. I recommend the lamb chops, stuffed olives, celeriac salad( so moorish!) and the marzipan ball for pudding- if I had space I'd eat it all!
Outstanding Pre Theatre Dinner
Fresh, exciting and beautifully presented food, a fabulous wine list and the service is outstanding. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly. I can't wait to go back.
Staff were very attentive and friendly. Food was well cooked, but not good value. All seemed a bit pretentious and not very relaxing.
Such a disappointment
Having been to this restaurant several times and thoroughly enjoyed it I was really disappointed by the decline in service and quality. I'm not sure what has gone wrong but I couldn't ask as there wasn't anyone to ask - dreadful. We were also advised (at the time of confirming the booking) that only people booking directly get a table - open table customers are sat at the counter... Thanks!

Don't miss out on the pappardelle with duck ragu - a stand out dish among a cascade of highlights. Excellent, rapid but unobtrusive service, a wide ranging menu and a deeply Italian wine list combine to make this a memorable experience. The restaurant is also a very pleasant space with a cosy ambience.
Bocca di Lupo is still delivering probab...
Bocca di Lupo is still delivering probably the best small plates Italian regional food outside Italy, all freshly cooked right there behind the bar. It's no wonder it's always packed!
My favorite Italian restaurant in London
Food is amazing of course but the best thing is the variety of the menu' to get a better and more complete real Italian experience. Also the service is good, professional but not snob, rather friendly but competent. Highly recommended
We ate at the restaurant before the theater. The service was quick. The waiters were tripping over each other almost running to get everyone fed and out. The food was terrible. The pastas were over sauced and everything was over priced. We will not be going back and certainly won't be recommending this restaurant. For the price we paid I am sure there are plenty of great restaurants in London.
Highly recommended. Esp if you're a lover of real Italian.
Excellent and delicious as always
The team are excellent at BdL - the food was delicious, the radish salad was stunning and the seabream carpaccio amazing, although not sure about the plate of lettuce instead of a salad... rather boring and not expected!
Multiple Appetizer type dinner experience
This restaurant is great if your expectation is that you want a rapid service meal prior to going to the theater. They do turn the food out quickly but the concept prior to our visit and reading other reviews was not clear. This place is designed for guests to order multiple appetizer type meals. We did not understand that, so we ordered the one or two pasta meals they had. The food was good but not memorable. Guest next to us ordered 5 unique small app meals and they mostly looked good. The restaurant is steps away from the Queens Theater and close walking distance to several others.
Eat at the Bar
A good range of Italian food and wines in a modern setting. The ground floor restaurant is small and cramped with poor acoustics.Sitting at the marble topped bar is recommended, particularly for those who are unaccompanied or don't need to eyeball their guests !
Letdown experience for usually outstanding venue
We had a wonderful experience in July and decided to visit again on Monday. Some dishes were truly outstanding (the tuna confit was superb, as was the mozzarella with aubergines), though some were a bit of a muted (our orecchiette with nduja was too liberally salted). The overall experience was diminished further by the long intervals between courses (we waited 20 minutes between our first and second set of plates). Service was visibly stretched as the waitstaff was attentive when able to stop by our table. We will be back again to sample the ever changing menu but hope that service will be back on par.
Our new London favourite. Bocca Di Lupo is an outstanding restaurant with flawless customer service. There was nothing on the splendid menu we didn't want to eat. Hope to be back there soon
Very Enjoyable Evening
This restaurant ticks all the boxes when it comes to a nice enjoyable evening out. The food was very nice, the waiters were polite and attentive and the atmosphere in the restaurant was relaxed.
Incredible, inventive cooking
This was probably the best food I have ever eaten. The booking we had was at 5.15 which was a little early but all that was available. The place was still buzzy however and filled up fast. The staff where all very friendly. We were visiting from Dublin and I had mixed expectations on London restaurant staff as the reputation here is that they can be haughty However, the servers where all easy going yet professional, informative and helpful. The wine guy was great help. The food we ordered ranged from pastas to roast teal with other things like fried Artichokes and salt cod. The portions may be considered a bit small but were spot on for us The cost was a bit high - 280 sterling for 4 - but included 2 great bottles of wine at 50 pounds plus Worth the visit and cannot wait to go back
Spectacular food, wine and service.
By far the best Italian in London. The staff were incredibly knowledgable and friendly, the food was utterly gorgeous and the cocktails and wine were delightful. Try this place immediately!
We booked for 14.30 as that was all that was available, the website said we would have the table for 2.5 hours. We were greeted well and taken to our table even though we were a little early and looked through the menu - as it was chiccietti type dishes we selected about four and said we were ready to order but would order in three goes. The waiter informed us that we had to order all at once as the kitchen was closing in 20 minutes! I asked to see the manager and she was very good but did say that yes the kitchen closed at 3pm - she apologised and said that guests were usually told on booking but that we must have slipped through the net. I assumed that the apology would be the end of it but no, the manageress took charge of overseeing our table and making sure that we were able to order in batches. The food in the main was extremely good with just the Grouse virtually inedible as it was so high and very rare - yuk! The tagliatelle with Caesar mushrooms was amazing as were many other dishes - our dining companion persuaded us to have the tripe - this was not for us but enjoyed it immensely. Overall a really nice lunch made really special by the manageress.
Highly disappointed by this lauded restaurant
I was highly disappointed by this much lauded restaurant, my food was over salted and a drink I ordered never arrived. My companion was also rather scathing about the pasta which she felt may have been sitting around for a little too long. In the end I left my dish (the home made sausages) as they were far from tasty. I would think twice about going here again as it is over hyped
Not worth the hassle
It's nice Italian food, but I would not cross town for that again or accept the long waiting times to get a table. My local Italian does a similar good job.
This place has got a big ego. Unfortunately this means that poor service & overpriced food (of an average quality) is considered the norm. Don't bother going to this place. They need to get back to basics as soon as possible.
I really love the food of Bocca di Lupo, very healthy . The ambiance is well decorate and the people are fancy, very good location.
This was my third time eating here and it was just as good, if not the best. The menu changes quite often depending on what is seasonal, so there are always new and great things to try. They had scampi on special that night so I got the pasta with tomatoes and scampi. I think there was more scampi than pasta! It was so fresh and so so tasty! For entree my friends and I shared the sea bream carpaccio and the bocconcini which I highly recommend. Great service and very attentive. So friendly and helpful. Good service really makes a difference! Get a seat at the chef's counter if you can, as watching the chefs prepare the meals is something else. Makes you appreciate the meal more! Coming back!
Unfortunately it was an average experience, even though the restaurant is very high on the Time Out's best restaurants in London list. The food was OK only if not poor (courgette fritters were so salty that they weren't edible). Service was good but it didn't create enough of a nice ambiance.
Thus restaurant surpassed expectations. The food was outstanding and I will definitely be returning in the future.

The food here is fantastic. I come back as often as I can. Recommend the suckling pig, sardines wrapped in bayleaves, truffle sausages. It's all good. Take as much as you can.
Had a wonderful pre-theatre dinner - delicious food, very helpful and fun waiter mindful of the timing when we told him we are going to a ballet performance afterwards.
Scrumptious food & quick service. Packed on a Thurs lunchtime. Try the spider crab pasta & blood orange granita. But give the luigi sausage a miss - too salty and meaty. Foie gras sausage amazing though! Even given a marked up menu with dairy free options.
Unfortunately, I booked via OpenTable and had not registered that the booking was for two seats at the bar! They were not able to accommodate a table in the restaurant, so beware if you book online. The meals we had were both extremely peppery (too much), but the pasta was good. Regrettably, this has put me off dining there again. Just an unfortunate incident with the food order and the 'table'. It is not very comfortable or easy to chat sitting on the bar stools.
Great food and a great place
Sitting on the bar made for an interesting and enjoyable evening. The staff were welcoming and friendly, and the kitchen in action was a nice change to the usual restaurant atmosphere. They were clearly not put off by people watching them work and produced some amazing food. The extensive wine list also had some great flavours to it.
Not cheap but hit the spot
Friendly, helpful service and great food. Tasty and well presented with a diverse wine list. And they have Monkey 47 gin (for a price)
This place is amazing, so authentic and vibrant serving up mouthwatering Italian small plates. I love sitting at the bar overlooking the kitchen....my favourite Italian restaurant in London....
I love the food at Bocca but I always feel like a sardine, they really pack you in here. More space please Bocca.
The food, wine and service at Bocca were incredible. Every new thing that I ate seemed better than the last - I'm still dreaming about the Tagliatelle with Lamb Ragu! I can't wait to go back and try some more of their delicious food.
