Bentley's Oyster Bar & GrillBest You Book EarlyShared the mains of whole Monk fish tail in Parma ham
Outstanding very well cooked and cannot fault the service13/06/2013 00:00:00Fish heavenGreat restaurant we ate outside on the terrace, very nice to do in London. We both started with oysters Vietnamese style absolutely great followed by a hot mixed plate which consisted of lobster , mussels, prawns, whelks, and scallops which we shared. You can taste the sea, also great.. Good wine list and not a rip off either well priced selection . Recommend anyone to visit..08/06/2013 00:00:00Great food but feels very rushedWe are a young couple who enjoy fine dining and lovely wine! Although the food and wine was exceptional the feel to the upstairs restaurant feels very rushed! All the tables are to close together and the waiters and waitresses seemed to work to a rigid rotor rather than a relaxed like to help you vibe. This just took the edge off the whole experience for us, but the food was amazing. Best fish pie ever. Would go back but opt to sit in the bar area if booking, it looked more comfortable with the same great food!08/06/2013 00:00:00surf n turfthe oysters were excellent with good choice - all fresh as a daisy. i had the 1/2 kilo of rib steak for the turf side of things and that was even better! reasonable price muscadet sur lie was perfect with the oysters! on my list for next time..07/06/2013 00:00:00Fresh seafood in heart of LondonA fantastic find. For starters we had the vietnamese oysters and scallops. Both were beautifully presented, fresh and clean tasting. For the main course we had the half of grilled lobster and the lobster spaghetti. The flavours in the spaghetti sauce were fantastic and wish we could recreate it at home. The half lobster was a bit on the small side but tasted delicious with a garlicy dressing on a bed of salty greens. For dessert we had the bread and butter pudding which was very rich and creamy. A bit more creme brulee than traditional bread and pudding. The head chef Richard Corrigan was sat outside whilst we were eating our meal which is always good to see. Would happily go back but amazed that they charge £8.50 for the bread basket!06/06/2013 00:00:00Bentley'sEvery time I go to Bentley's I am reminded of why it is a favourite. The staff are professional and friendly. Service is attentive but unobtrusive. The food is always very good indeed and this is one of the two best fish-oriented menus in London. Mostly, receiving the bill takes the edge off a dinner, especially in the UK, but Bentley's is so pleasant that I don't begrudge the cost.05/06/2013 00:00:00A great meal but...My wife's choices of lobster and pasta, followed by the fish pie were delicious. The chocolate pud we both had was to die for but... My starter special scallops, delicious as was ham but that fruit that accompanied I felt should have been as a puree, My Dover Sole, at £48, was only OK. Rather overcooked, came off the bone, but that is how the Brits like it I suppose. But that was it a bit of sokle, with a lovely sauce, but no potatoes or veg as a garnish. For nearly £50 I should have had a small spud or two.03/06/2013 00:00:00ver good well established restauranLovely food and ambiance.
If only they would sort out their reservations! They rang me every day for 3 days to say the Grill wouldn't be open - only the down stairs!01/06/2013 00:00:00Outstanding fare, and an impeccableOutstanding fare, and an impeccable service that was both attentive and helpful.. the seafood is to die for. we loved it. the outdoor area seems nice although we sat in the grill/restaurant proper which has beautiful ambience.31/05/2013 00:00:00Nice FishGood service, nice fish, not cheap but worth it. And now I have to write more to keep Top Table happy. Why 50 characters minimum! Just daft.30/05/2013 00:00:00good food, god wine and good funoysters fresh and the steak was a cracker. Fish is the passion and it all worked out.
The service was perfect. Our daughter got a kids portion of the steak.
The food was really good an cooked to the point. Chips did taste like potatoes and not greasy lumpy stuff you sometimes get. We hat a great evening and lovely food. When you go there you MUST try the oysters. I have never had any better oysters than here. Each time we come to London we go there for the oysters. I just love it.30/05/2013 00:00:00Wednesday lunch-time treatHad a great experience at Bentley's Oyster Bar and Grill. Service was excellent and standard of food and drinks very good. Not cheap but a good option for a special treat29/05/2013 00:00:00Good fish, great locationA very pleasant dinner with friends. Staff is friendly and efficient. Food was very good with quite a few ''spanish'' touches. Squid stuffed with chorizo, dishes with morcilla (blood sausage), spanish ham... Overalll veru good. Has the squid and mussels to share, then scallops beautifully done. Wine list is food.24/05/2013 00:00:00Fresh products which wereFresh products which were very well prepared and presented. Overall very good food with attentive service. The atmosphere/setting is very well suited for a business lunch/dinner.22/05/2013 00:00:00Bentley's Oyster Bar really buzzingA great buzz about the Oyster Bar. We very much liked the very engaged and engaging staff which made this, along with some outstanding food and excellent wine at reasonable price, a real stand out restaurant.22/05/2013 00:00:00Small group of friendsWe meet rarely. When we do, we like to eat well, drink a lot and catch up. Bentleys was perfect for this. The service was helpful and discreet. The wine waitress had an exciting severity for the gentlemen who get excited by things like that. It wasn't cheap, but it was very good quality. We liked it.21/05/2013 00:00:00Beef and Oyster Lunchtreated ourselves to the beef and oyster lunch, absolutely perfect, tour of the kitchen, chatting to the chef, Owen and the oysters were superb....and then the roast beef.
My partner, Sonia was in heaven.19/05/2013 00:00:00OutstandingWe had a real good time, food was outstanding, staff more than ok. We will absolutely come back.16/05/2013 00:00:00Made a perfect eveningIdeal for a pre-theatre supper. Great food, and service designed to ensure you arrive on-time without feeling rushed. Arrive early and have a drink at the bar- less of a crush!14/05/2013 00:00:00Good food and service - biggestGood food and service - biggest oysters we have seen.11/05/2013 00:00:00lovelyWas a great meal, though pricey. Nice, attentive staff, fantastic seafood. Had special fish for two - Turbot
YUM!09/05/2013 00:00:00Fantastic FoodThis was my second visit to Bentleys and again it was just a very welcome and delightful experience. This was an important business lunch and Bentleys delivered - thank you.
Bloody Marys - epic
Steak Tartar - delicious
Dover sole with English asparagus as a side - perfectly cooked.
Chocolate Fondant - perfect finish
Both visits have been in the region of £125.00 per head and thats not cheap. However, the whole experience is what eating in London is all about. - Thank you09/05/2013 00:00:00Simply delicious! We went for my partner's birthday lunch as a special treat to the Bentley's on Swallow Street. The food and service were exquisite and we really enjoyed the whole experience. We had oysters, sea bass, razor clams and scallops and a yummy chocolate mousse- that was a real mousse! Our Italian waiter was lovely and very friendly and attentive. Good service is important to the dining experience, but, appears not to be taken very seriously in this country; all the staff were excellent.
We will definitely go again and would happily meet up with a friend for oysters and champagne at the bar.
Thank you!08/05/2013 00:00:00Bentley's consistently goodA lovely meal and an enjoyable occasion. I had been to Bentley's before and wasn't disappointed, the food was excellent. The service was very good until we had finished our mains at which point we had to labour to attract attention to get a desert menu, place an order etc. We had been expressly told that the booking was for two hours as the table was needed at 9pm. This had obviously changed at some point since no one was in a hurry to get us out at 9pm but it would have been good to be told that it was no longer needed so we could relax.04/05/2013 00:00:00Good for different dishesEaten at a few Oyster bars around town recenty and this was the most upmarket of them all. Location is everything here, the food was lovely and the fused receipes on the house's specials gave off some delicate taste sensations. Crab with sanfier and butter on brushetta simply melted in the mouth. The squid in salt and pepper with a hine of chilli and spring onion was delicious and many restaurants would struggle to top this dish.
We then went for the seafood platter which came with jersey oysters which were delicious, however the rest of the platter lacked a touch and the sea snails came up dry. For the price you'd be better going for a fish of the day or a grilled optiion.04/05/2013 00:00:00Fabulous 50th!Bentley's for lunch with my son in law was part of his 50th birthday celebrations. He loves oysters and all things fishy, so do I and we were not disappointed. We selected 6 from Scotland and 6 from Jersey as an appetiser; both were delectable but the pricier Scottish ones justified their slightly higher unit price. The scene was set by a fabulous glass of almost fragrant champagne followed by an Austrian Gruner Veltliner, chilled to perfection. It was a wonderful accompaniment to the Monkfish with blood pudding and my immaculate dressed crab. We shared a bergamot sorbet and wandered happily on our way to Hacketts to do a little shopping!
My memories of Bentleys on Beauchamp Place in the 70s were rekindled and shared and surpassed.04/05/2013 00:00:00fish and shipsthe best fish and ships in london !
very great ambiance with piano !
to be improved for services, more smiley please !03/05/2013 00:00:00Bentley's delightBentley Oysters bar and grill is on the list of my favourite eating spots with someone special. It is not cheap, however each pound buys its value, staring with homemade bread and butter, further to whitstable or loch oysters, through wonders of fruits de merm steaj tartare and down to main courses. All are extremely pleasant eating experience.
What is remarkable for a regular goer is that the quality remains high and even on that high level they find something to amaze with.28/04/2013 00:00:00Value for money?Spent £215 on a two course meal with a few cocktails and a £40 bottle of wine. Food was very good but for this money, I would expect to be blown away. e.g. 'Royal Fish Pie' although very tasty didn't really contain enough seafood to justify a £28 price tag.
Although overall the restaurant is very good, it's overpriced and therefore difficult to recommend.27/04/2013 00:00:00Great start to the evening!Sitting outside eating oysters & brilliant fish prior to an evening at the Royal Albert Hall, life couldn't be bettered!
Good food and great friendly and speedy service
Many thanks
Jimmy Gordon25/04/2013 00:00:00AmbienceIt was a pleasure, with the warm weather, to sit outside.23/04/2013 00:00:00Great food--but expensive! The seafood here is no doubt very good However, £95 for lunch (2 starters + 1 main; no drinks) is a bit too expensive, in my opinion. There is an OK terrace for outdoor eating, but when the weather is nice I would recommend going somewhere with a more attractive terrace.23/04/2013 00:00:00Nice atmosphere. The location is ideal. The menu is wide and interesting. Nice atmosphere and attentive service. Overall a good experience.16/04/2013 00:00:00Excellent atmosphere withExcellent atmosphere with very courteous and professional service. Food and wine was excellent .16/04/2013 00:00:00Lovely food, sea trout andLovely food, sea trout and lemon sole Sunday special superb. Chef's spat with his team unfortunately fell out beyond kitchen into Oyster Bar, but brought extra colour to the occasion.14/04/2013 00:00:00Fantastic food, service andFantastic food, service and wine but very expensive.......special occasions only!!!!13/04/2013 00:00:00Great food and service! If greate seafood served by skillfull and pleasant staff is what you are after this is the place. Its a no nonsens kind of restaurant and the interior is nice but may be a bit on the dull and cold side for my taste.13/04/2013 00:00:00We enjoyed an excellent mealWe enjoyed an excellent meal here on our recent trip to London. The service was 1st class. The staff were aware and attentive without being in your face. The food was excellent as we had expected. The layers and combination of flavours in the food were fantastic. The price was very acceptable for a meal of this quality and we would highly recommend this restaurant to any one.10/04/2013 00:00:00Food fantastic. Oysters great.Food fantastic. Oysters great. Steamed fish lovely. Nice to be able to order wine in smaller carafe - often a bottle is too much. Would be nice to include a vegatable dish with all of the main courses. Very helpful and friendly staff. Only downside is the extra cost of covers per person and then the 12.5% service charge as well.06/04/2013 00:00:00Finest fish dishesThe Bentley's experience was great, as soon you arrive you're welcomed with smooth sounds of grand piano and coats taken care of by the staff. There is a great atmosphere and a romantic ambiance about the restaurant and the meal we had was lovely. This was my 1st visit to a predominately a fish restaurant and I loved it. Would definitely visit again. The staff were very helpful and managed to make me a cocktail from a list of fruits I gave them... :)06/04/2013 00:00:00Nice evening at Bentley'sWe were spending the night in London so dined at Bentleys. We had Sea Bass, and the trio of fish. Both very good. Prices seemed high compared with the US - no surprise. Good wine list.06/04/2013 00:00:00A London MustThe Scottish oysters were abolutely fantastic, as was the fettucine con vongole. Behind the pub atmosphere lies an excellent Italian kitchen, and a very informative, courteous and friendly service. Highly recomended.03/04/2013 00:00:00Great SurpriseWe booked for an early evening meal. We had read various reviews some good some not so good. The service and food (we had the Brill) was exceptional. Having so far this year eaten in top class restuarants in New York, Buenos Aires and Rio, Bentleys was as good as any of them. We will certainly go back.30/03/2013 00:00:00outstanding oystersWe dined in a restaurant upstairs and our table position could have been better.
Location was too near where the waitressing staff was stationed. The shells particularly the oysters were outstanding.
The wine sommelier was knowledgeable. The service was attentive and good. Overall dining experience was excellent. Definitely worth a visit.29/03/2013 00:00:00Good evening. Good serviceGood evening. Good service except a bit snooty about when we wanted to upgrade from six people to seven.25/03/2013 00:00:00Overseas VisitorsWe had American visitors who love seafood and an opportunity to serve them up some local produce. Chose Bentleys from previous experiences.24/03/2013 00:00:00Fresh well cooked fish in comfortBest place near Picadilly for fish food, both traditional and hints of fusion. Confortable grill upstairs with well spaced tables or the noisier downstairs in boothes. Wine list extensive with a few in the more modest price bracket of £25-£35.23/03/2013 00:00:00FabulousThe whole experience was excellent from start to finish. The staff at Bentleys are attentive but not overly so. The food is wonderful and the menu caters for all foodie needs. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to any one of my friends.
In the words of Craig Revel Horwood - F A B U L O U S!23/03/2013 00:00:00FantastHad a great meal at Bentley's, great service, great food.23/03/2013 00:00:00Delicious and varied food selectionThe waiter suggested I choose something I wouldn't normally cook at home and be different. Feeling brave I decided to order 'Hot Rocks' with breadcrumbs and garlic for my starter. This dish ensured the oysters were cooked, and wow I was not disappointed! An absolutely delicious choice! For the main dish I chose fish pie - no ordinary fish pie was this! Including lobster, scallops, and king prawns in a rich scrumptious sauce topped with mashed potato and decorated with a lobster claw.
The wine selection was excellent but quite pricey. Cannot comment on desserts because the first two courses were so filling, regrettably there was no room left to taste more delights.20/03/2013 00:00:00
