Beach Blanket Babylon - ShoreditchWe had the best night at BBBWe had the best night at BBB - we arrived at 7pm and were shown to our table - by a slightly stiff and unfriendly lady, but everyone else was much friendlier and welcoming! The setting was brilliant - it was a booth with a round table so all 5 of us could sit closely and have a cosy chat. They remembered everything about us throughout the night - who wanted certain cocktails made in certain ways etc, which made it really easy. Food and cocktails were yummy. The music was brilliant - really good tunes so after we'd finished dinner, our waiter also found us a great spot downstairs in front of the dj booth so we could carry on the party. There was a real buzz in the place - this may have been due to the DJ on the balcony!
The food was good, the waiter was very personable and have a good few jokes with us. Quality wise, it looked great and tasted great.

We were concerned about the 2 hour limit due to the restaurant's policy of two seatings on weekend nights, and they allowed us to shift our start time 30 minutes earlier, to have 2.5 hrs. This allowed for cocktails beforehand and late stragglers to join us without feeling too rushed. Only complaint was that they ignored my request for a seat at ground floor level (we were up a half-level) due to one of our party's accessibility issues. This led to some embarrassment / difficulty for access to the WCs (downstairs) during the meal. The staff were fantastic, the ambience perfect - relaxed but classy. Only two niggles which admitedly, aren't really a big deal. The brand new menu only had 1 vegetarian main (I'm sure they would have been able to sort something had I asked) My friend ordered the beef but wasn't told it didn't come with sides, potatoes etc. so all he had was a simple slab of meat! Again, this was the first night of a new menu and I think things will tighten up once the staff are used to it. It's great value and the place has a real buzzy atmosphere while still being suitable for a date.
We even got to have a chat with Rex Newmark the Executive Chef there who on hearing it was my birthday was kind enough to get us a round of drinks, such a gent!

Our main waiter was Matthew and he was amazing. Coupled with the tall girl (manager maybe??) that sorted a table downstairs in the club. Two workers that are a credit to customer service.
One small downside, the bar downstairs didn't do the cocktail menu that was available upstairs. My girlfriend ordered some upstairs and asked the batman if he could help her take them down but he said "No!"

Approaching us every few minutes to ask if we were ready to order infuriated me, I was there to catch up with my mother after having not seen her for a few months, not get rushed out. And quite frankly it made me want to take longer to annoy him (which I did). Unfortunately he did not take my hints and I had to tell him he needs to leave us with more time.

We arrived a little late (I called ahead to warn them) and the host was very pleasant and accommodating. We started with delicious cocktails. Our food was absolutely divine!! My scallops were cooked to perfection and my boyfriend ordered the most delicious cauliflower soup. For main i ordered the venison which was mouth watering and my boyfriend had the chicken which was equally delicious.
My only criticism. of Beach Blanket was the wine list was a bit over priced. The staff were very attentive and pleasant. The food was perfect, the cocktails were of a very high standard, the service was first class and the ambiance perfect to celebrate with my lady.
The staff were excellent, very attentive and not invasive of the evening i was sharing with my lady.
Entree's came quickly and the finished plates taken very quickly, the main of Chateaubriand and lobster with dauphinoise potatoes and sautéed spinach was incredible!!!

We were given a booth on the upper level and had a great view of the bar and restaurant. Our waitress was very friendly and there was a great atmosphere as the restaurant filled up. The music playing was great - old school RnB and the way the restaurant is decorated is amazing.
We had the 3 course set menu which was delicious. I had the caramalised onion and goats cheese tart and risotto, both of which I would highly recommend and we shared between us the chocolate tort and white chocolate creme brule which were divine.

Got seated straightaway by a very friendly waitress. Bread was warm and was given with soft butter and some garlicy stuff which was great! The set menu had a lot of variety and the ones we chose were amazing. I got the crispy belly of mutton with this outstanding mint jelly, followed by fillet steak which was cooked to perfection. The food was delicious (I would happily have had my baked cod and lentils main course and bread and butter pudding again). The service was discrete but attentive. Our waiter checked with me when he noticed he only had 11 orders but we'd booked for 12 - one person couldn't come. With the 50% discount on food the evening was superb value too. I'm glad we did because it was a lot of fun. The food was delicious, service excellent and they didn't rush us out of our table. We ordered a drink and it wasn't that good so they even remade it for us with no problem. Food was a little mixed. Went for set menu - main disappointment was that the actual set menu was not the one I had looked at on Top Table so we didn't feel the choice was as good on the night.
Starters - goats cheese salad: bland and heavy, Smoked salmon - it was smoked salmon! Mains - chicken and sea bass both really good, tasty and interesting. Sides well presented and well cooked. Dessert - creme brulee was fine but not outstanding. Wine - good.
