A word from Beach Blanket Babylon - Notting Hill
BBB, as it is affectionately known, was established in 1990 and occupies a prominent old Georgian Mansion in the heart of Notting Hill.

The bar is renowned for its cocktails, the Porn Star being a firm favourite and the venue is ideal for an al fresco lunch or intimate dinner.
The menu is reflective of BBB's Colonial British heritage and changes seasonally.

A more elaborate dining experience can be hosted in our magnificent private dining Ballroom.

Its eclectic interior design, blending Boho Chic, French Country style Chateau the Baroque and Rococo, sets the scene for a truly unique and magical experience.

Diner Reviews
  • "Really enjoyed the food and atmosphere here - worth going, especially for the special menu"
    dined on 10/04/2014
  • "We wanted a restaurant near Ladbroke Grove for a mid week discounted meal and found BBB on Top Table. It is worth a visit for the decor alone but the service and food turned out to be excellent. Two courses and a glass of prosecco for £20 was great value. Seriously thinking of going again for my birthday. Highly recommended."

  • "Took advantage of the top table 2 course lunch for £15 and a glass of prosecco. The restaurant is very ornate inside with chandeliers and mirrors, lovely fireplaces and eclectic furniture. Although we are not part of the fashionable Notting Hill set who frequent this restaurant we were made very welcome by the staff who looked like models! Our waitress recommended we share a starter and dessert so we would be able to sample 3 courses. This was a good a good idea as the wild mushroom truffle risotto we both chose for main was quite substantial and the chocolate fondant was very rich and perfect for sharing. All in all a very pleasant experience, good food and friendly service in trendy surroundings."

  • "The décor and ambience are spot on for an elegant meal. The staff were excellent, the food was very good and, with a Top Table deal, the value was extraordinary. What more could you want? Recommended."

  • "I booked on a deal and honestly came away from the Lunch feeling like I hadn't paid enough! The venue was stunning. Service very quick and friendly and the food was also great! I would definitely come again."

  • "The restaurant/bar itself is great, really funky and great ambience however the whole experience was let down by the fact we had eaten most of our meal before our cocktails turned up and one of our side dishes was missing, the food was lovely however the lamb was served on a cold dish and as we were waiting for our side order it ended up being eaten luke warm. This was such a shame as we were really looking forward to dining here. We would go back again but probably just for cocktails and nibbles"

  • "The menu has something for everyone - the atmosphere is intimate and yet fun, the service is relaxed and friendly. It's the sort of restaurant you can go back to time after time - and not get fed up."

  • "Wanted a restaurant with good but not michelin up itself jus of this, reduction of that type menu - superb. Tuna steak fabulous. It had a great buzz about the place, looked after us really well at a table in the bar beforehand though no chance afterwards, it was packed to the rafters in the bar. Very attentive service. Some well priced wines. Cocktails certainly pricey."

  • "Haven't been to BBB for years but it's still as beautiful as I remember. I had a fillet steak which was cooked absolutely to perfection! The staff were very attentive and overall we had a great meal there. My only (very small) negative about BBB is that the stairs are hell to navigate in heels!!"

  • "BBB is one of my favourite places to go for cocktails and a fancy dinner. However, I can only ever really afford to go when there is a toptable deal as you will spend £50 for 2 lovely courses and a great cocktail, Bargain! Without the deal you are looking at between £80 - £100 pp."

  • "Fabulous food, location and service! Will definetly visit again!! Highly recommended for a girlie lunch!!!"

  • "I booked a table here for Mother's day - my mother and girlfriend attended and we had a fantastic night! The decor and aesthetics is to die for, the food was great, the service was brilliant (our server was fantastic), the wine and cocktails hit the spot."

  • "Great Saturday lunch for four. Booking advisable. Very good food & wine menu, all served beautifully. Highly recommend a visit."

  • "I booked a table at BBB because I'd seen inside and loved the décor. It's beautiful to look at, with a really fantastical Gaudi-style interior and I thought it would be perfect for a romantic dinner. But I was disappointed. Firstly a waitress came over when we sat down at 8pm and told us the table was booked again at 9.15, which I thought was outrageous. She eventually said it could be changed to 9.45, and then in the end no one came, but still what with that and being sat at probably the worst table (in a corner by the kitchen), it felt like they thought we weren't good enough to be there. The food was good, but overpriced: £19 for six scallops with no accompaniments (£4 per side) was just a bit of a rip-off."

  • "I booked a table at Beach Blanket Babylon for my boyfriend's birthday and we were sat downstairs in their intimate cave like area. The food was fantastic as were the cocktails. I definitely recommend this restaurant for drinks or a special occasion dinner."
    dined on 25/02/2014
  • "Ive been here a few times before for cocktails ( which are delicious) by the way. I really like the chabby chic decor but the food was nothing special to be honest. Starter ( crab) was very nice. I had scallops for main which were tepid and probably could have done with another minute in the pan. The new potato side order tasted like pre cooked potatoes that had been blitzed in the microwave before serving. Chocolate browine dessert was divine. Lots of sauce and ice cream so not dry like brownies can sometimes be. I wanted a cup of tea to finsih but they didnt have any milk. I mean really!!! Why not just nip to the shop and get some. It wast busy in there so no excuse for that."

  • "Took my daughter for a surprise lunch. The staff were so lovely nothing too much trouble, the food was fab we had two starters and they were both a good size so didn't leave feeling hungry . The house champagne was not expensive for London prices and was good. Would we go back yes we would"

  • "We have a little tradition of dining at BBB to celebrate our anniversary. . .. as always, we were not disappointed. A wonderful evening made special by the service and welcoming team. Thank you."
    dined on 13/03/2014
  • "It felt like were being rushed. We were told at the start that they would need the table back for 10.15 but we felt they were trying to get us through our meal as quickly as possible which made it a little uncomfortable. Having said that our waiter was wonderful so special mention there."
    dined on 15/03/2014
  • "Fantastic food, fantastic service, great location, magnificent ambience and architecture."
    dined on 13/03/2014
  • "I recently went to BBB for a romantic dinner with my other half and had the perfect evening. The restaurant itself was decorated beautifully and made for the most perfect setting for a romantic dinner - especially with the roaring fire in the back ground. The food itself was exquisite - a blend of european dishes to suit all tastes and I cannot recommend enough the lamb shank and sweet potato, The food came out at a good pace (not too slowly and not to quickly) and we were waited on by a very friendly team. The restaurant itself wasn't very busy and I would love more people to try it out and to be as impressed as I was. I would recommend it to couples or for special occasions - a 10/10 place with nothing to say against the place!"

  • "We had an excellent experience at BBB, the place is just fabulous. A visual feast with lovely, helpful staff and tasty food. We couldn't believe the price, a bargain with the top table offer. It's very relaxed atmosphere was just right for our book club meeting. The deserts were delicious. Can't wait to go back!"

  • "The place is nice, the atmosphere/deco is amazing but for my birthday i was expected more and not a waitress saying when i was paying "sorry it is your birthday and we didnt offer you something, next time guys!". I had just asked to be seated at a nice table, we get the table next to the kitchen... we were not well seated with all our coats/bags, very annoying... two cocktails arrived at the middle of the main meal... so, nice place but do not expect a nice service for the restaurant. Good point for the bar on the ground floor, good music !"
    dined on 08/03/2014
  • "I was very disappointed with this restaurant. The food was average but with tiny portions. There was very little atmosphere and the same cd was playing over and over again. I heard it 3 times while I was there. We were pestered by the waiter all evening as he seemed to be bored. For the price and the impression it gives I was very disappointed."
    dined on 08/03/2014
  • "Not having been to BBB for many years, I was excited to see a special offer. 2 courses and prosecco for £15 for lunch. We could choose anything we wanted from the a la carte menu. Food was delicious and ambience delightful. I have already booked to go back!"
    dined on 06/03/2014
  • "Very nice & cosy place with lost of character, perfect place if your looking to impress!"
    dined on 22/02/2014
  • "Went for a small family lunch on Sunday. We had the offer with the champagne which was a great start. We could choose anything from the menu (big difference to this and this and that not included!) and everything was delicious. We loved the pear salad as a starter and both the lobster pasta and the scallops were delicious. Deserts are also worth trying. Before going would not have thought of BBB as a child friendly restaurant but we did have a 5 year old and no problem at all (despite all the gorgeous china I was so worried about) and there were other parties with children. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The place itself is so beautiful, the tables, the chairs, the decoration and the fireplaces. Will definitively be back."
    dined on 02/03/2014
  • "We came across BBB on toptable through the '2 courses plus glass of prosecco for £15' deal. We booked very last minute (booked at 1.30 for 3pm) and couldn't have asked for better service or quality of food upon arrival. The menu was varied and unusually, the deal included their normal a la carte menu instead of a second rate one which so many places often do when paying less. The staff were very friendly and made great recommendations on the meals on the menu. But all this pales when talking about the restaurant itself. It could be called 'Beautiful Beautiful Beautiful' - roaring open fire, spectacular chandeliers, enormous marble fireplace, exposed brickwork, quirky china.. The list of features is endless. Can't recommend highly enough!!"

  • "I've eaten here before and it was much better, I think because that was midweek. At the weekend it's more like a nightclub than a restaurant. The food was ok, though expensive. The venue is of course fantastic. Upon sitting down we were told what time we'd be expected to leave, but otherwise service great. Alas the dance music was too loud and intruded upon the conversation."

  • "Myself and a friend went here whilst she was visiting London. The restaurant is beautifully laid out and the ambience is good for intimate dinner and chat. Unfortunately the food was a real let down - we ended up having to send our food back as it was burnt and reordering. The service, despite the number of 'staff' floating around doing very little, was slow to say the least. The majority of servers were friendly - but efficiency doesn't rate well here."

  • "Venue BIG on style. We got a great table for people watching at the bottom of the stairs away from the noisy bar area. We were told that they wanted the table back in 2 hours, which hadn't been made clear at the time of booking. That said, we weren't moved on and the service was efficient. The starters were ok, but could have be better; the mussel shells hadn't been scrubbed and the pear and Roquefort was generally a bit too sweet. The surf and turf was good and the steak cooked blue as requested. The chocolate fondant wasn't freshly cooked and solid in the middle, but again tasted ok. The champagne cocktail was not cold enough but tasted fine. The mark up on the wine list bigger than usual. Still none the wiser as to how it got it's name!"

  • "The offer..... 2 courses plus a glass of Cava for two people.... Sensational value! We took up the offer for lunch £15, the same offer was available for dinner @ £20. Excellent choices from the a la carte menu. All delicious. The ambiance is quirky & informal. Amazing interiors, fire places, different levels, flowers everywhere. Great cocktails too! Excellent service."

  • "Lovely food, beautiful restaurant. Personally, I thought the 12.5% service charge was a bit steep seen as my partner was given the wrong starter and they took his main away before he was finished! Also, that the lady at the front desk made a face when we late for the table despite the fact the resturant was nearly empty and I had called ahead to say we would be slightly late, not the friendliest greeting we have ever had. Over all a nice experience but I think it should be the choice of the diner whether to leave a tip and for how much it should be."

  • "We had a late lunch on Sunday at Beach Blanket Babylon. The place looked great! Appetisers and mains were delisious and the waitress was lovely too. Unfortunately brownie was a big disapointment so you might want to skip a desert. Floor staff were friendly and polite but we found it dificult to get their attention to place order for more cocktails as our waitress seemed to be gone."

  • "TERRIBLE SERVICE - we were reminded at least 7 times before and during dinner that we had only a 2 hr timeslot at the table. We were charged £20 for bringing our own birthday cakes with no prior warning. When we complained to the manager he told us that as we gave them no warning we were bringing food they didnt have to give us any prior warning of the cost. Terrible management. The waiter was lovely, the food was fine and the restaurant is pretty but because the service was so terrible and there was a such a rushed atmosphere i can honestly say it ruined the experience and i will not be returning. They need to change their attitude and improve their service levels. Disappointing."

  • "We came here for a lunch to celebrate my new flat purchase which had completed that day. We booked through top table and had a great meal, all courses were delicious, and it was hard to pick which meal to choose. The Pornstar Martinis never disappoint. From my party, the mussels and lamb shank were the highlights. The top table deal was fantastic value, we couldn't believe the saving, I had only been to BBB for evening meals and drinks at the weekend prior to this. I would also highly recommend it for a lunchtime venue. Plus during the daylight you are actually able to appreciate just how beautiful the building and the decor are. The staff were friendly and service was good."

  • "We had pleasure to have dinner at the restaurant. The service was really good and dinner too. I will not hesitate to recommend it to friends. thanks"

  • "The food is decent and price is not too bad (£37pp for 2 courses with wine) in a fantastic setting with a very friendly Greek waitress. However, the following two reasons spoiled our experience - Although we booked for 10pm through toptable, and confirmed the reservation and the time in the morning, when we arrived the receptionist insisted that our reservation was for 10:30. No matter how much I tried to convince them (including showing them the email confirmation from toptable ) they didn't try to apologize but insisted they were right - appalling customer service! - After we were sat down at 10:40 the waiters started pushing us to order, eat our starters then eat our mains and pay the bill since the restaurant and kitchen were closing!"

  • "I booked purely on the way it looked and the menu, my wife is a vegetarian who is allergic to peppers (a staple in most vegetarian dishes) so finding a place that gets her really excited is very difficult. I took one look at the menu and as soon as I saw the Risotto with truffles and Parmasan cheese, I knew it was a no brainer. The food was excellent, I've never eaten cherries in a salad before - what a revelation. The fillet steak was absolutely superb, I had no idea it was possible to get beef that tender, the best steak I've ever eaten. The service was excellent, really friendly and chatty but left us alone to eat, and the ambience...WOW, felt so warm and cozy on a cold night. I live in Sussex but will make a special journey to return."
