We love coming to this local eatery in Richmond and it sits right up there in our top three for the area, predominently due to the quality and value. The food is beautifully cooked and the wine list well thought through - often with unusual offerings that have real depth. It's a restaurant that lends itself to dressing up for a romatic evening or a casual pre-post theatre supper. Whatever your preferences, you're bound to find something that will suit. Great little restaurant with good, attentive staff who are only too pleased to offer advice on food and menu choices. It's central location in Richmond makes travel extremely easy with two taxi ranks virtually outside. The staff take such good care of you, the food is consistently good with some great menu options that my husband always takes advantage of whereas I'm predictably requesting vongole which they always do without failure despite it not being on the menu and the wine choices, reasonably priced, never fail to deliver. It's intimate without being dreary and caters for all types of gatherings. Look out for their special events where they showcase a region with food + wine. The food is fresh and well prepared. The restaurant has such a lovely family feel that it's a home from home each time we go - which is increasingly more and more when considering a local venue. The wines are a good range and reasonably priced. I always go for the same - off menu vongole - but my husband is more adventurous. This time it was fish cakes and liver (not together I hasten to add). Both cooked really well. The liver just melted in the mouth. We will definitely be back - including their themed wine pairing night in September. Risky as they live in Budapest and travel the world experiencing the best in fine dining but I needn't have worried. As always, the service, food and wine didn't fail to impress in such an unassuming setting. With all the Richmond restaurants to choose from, Bacco still sits as a firm local favorite and we have become staunch fans. The calamari starter was so fresh and the mixed seafood excellent. I was somewhat disappointed that my secret off menu Vongole featured as a special on the menu this past Friday but that's just being selfish. My husband had the seabass and it was plentiful and grilled to perfection. There was a large group of 40+ which made the experience seem a little disjointed (them and us) but the staff were as attentive as ever. For lovers of vongole, if you give them notice they will produce a super plate with really decent sized clams even though off menu.
