A word from Bacco Restaurant
Bacco restaurant is family run and well established for 15 years in Richmond. We serve authentic Italian food using seasonal ingredients. We are very passionate about home cooking just like our families in Italy and therefore we make our own pasta, foccacia bread and desserts.

Our service style is very attentive and relaxed.

We have an extensive Italian wine list ranging from small producers from different parts of Italy to well-known vineyards such as Antinori.

Weather permitting, we have a decked forecourt for dining or having aperitivo. Our alfresco dining can sit up to 40 diners and it can be covered and heated during the cooler seasons.

We also cater for large group in our private dining area "Vinoteca" whereby we can sit up to 27 people.

Diner Reviews
  • "We had a wonderful dinner with friends. The service at Bacco was very friendly. My husband is Celiac and doesn't tolerate gluten in any shape or form. The staff made sure that the two courses he had was safe for him to eat without compromising on taste or look. This is our third time we have visited Bacco and we have throughly enjoyed it every time."

  • "We have eaten at Bacco on several occassions and it never ceases to disapoint. Always happy with our chosen menu and highly recommend."

  • "We had reseved a table which was necessary as the restaurant was completely full. We chose Bacco partly because it had good vegetarian options for my partner. We were very well looked after by all people who served food and drinks - they answered all our questions fully and well. Food was delicious. All ages and combinations of diners that evening which is another very good sign ! I would recommend"

  • "Very good Italian meal very close to Richmond station and near the Orange theatre. Good choice on the menu and they also have a great offer of 2 courses plus a glass of wine for £25. Wine provided was good."

  • "Without a shadow of doubt our favourite restaurant in Richmond upon Thames . This fantastic Italian Eatery located right opposite Richmond Station. The quality of the food is always up to the mark. The standard of service we receive is exemplary. My partner particularly enjoys the seafood on offer here, I myself enjoy all on offer and sampled the pre theatre special, which was perfectly presented and did the job for me!! This made the bill incredibly good value for the area too. We highly recommend this eatery."

  • "This was my first time to Bacco's in a while and I was disappointed. In the past their standard has been really high. This time 2 out of 3 starters were not available even though it was just 7pm in the evening. The main course was OK but nothing to write home about. The dessert that both of us wanted as unavailable as well. On speaking to the manager, he got the chef to russle up something similar but again it wasn't great. The manager did compensate with a free drink and coffee but the experience was spoiled as I'd brought a friend there especially because I'd had such a good experience quite some time back. Standards seem to have fallen a lot and they seem to have lost their way."

  • "Opted for a 7 pm meal, place was packed! Then found ourselves in solitary glory when theatre goers exited. Felt a little odd. A very good 2 course and glass of wine offer for £25 with dishes off the menu. The service was excellent and the food very traditional Italian in the best way. Duck salad to start was huge and nicely done with lots of duck. The main course of veal escalopes was a little chewy but with a lovely flavour and they substituted the potato purée for an alternative. The restaurant has a quirky layout with different levels and areas. A very good experience I will be back for more....."

  • "A great place for a business meal although the place can get a bit crowded. The service is fabulous and the food impressive. The deserts also have that edge of feeling special. I would highly recommend this place for a business meal or a catch up with friends as it is conveniently located right next to the station."

  • "Bacco is a genuinely excellent Italian restaurant. Great feel to the place, very friendly and really excellent food. A definite cut above the norm. The service was a touch slower than I would have liked, but frankly, even that is authentic Italian..."

  • "We'd not heard of this place before, and we went for a quick birthday meal on a Friday. The food was excellent, very authentic Italian, very fresh ingredients, beautifully served. Service attentive and polite, good wine list. The only area for improvement - it was a little quiet for a Friday night. Altogether very good, we will be back."
    dined on 28/03/2014
  • "Bacco has had a makeover since we were last there which makes the interior more appealing but it still retains its authentic charm. It is a really good local restaurant with a friendly welcome and above average food. The Ravioli special was excellent and the bill at the end of the night was good value. We would recommend it and will return"

  • "The meal proportions are huge. We had the special if two meals which were huge. Great service. Recommend for couples and special occasions"

  • "We regularly go to Bacco before going over the road to The Orange Tree for a matinee. The welcome is always warm. The choice for the pre theatre menu is excellent. The service is fast and quality of food is very good. Cant recommend Bacco too highly"

  • "I choose this restaurant as bored with high street chains. It was great evening. Food, wine and service all very good. Will return!"

  • "I highly suggest making sure your table is not by the toilets. I say toilets but there is only one so you will have a queue of people by your table throughout your supper. I would also avoid the table at the front of the restaurant. It seemed that we didn't have a designated waiter, we had someone take our order, another to deliver the food and we were left to pour our wine and shout for a waiter as and when we wanted something. The food was lovely, the dining experience was poor as no one services our table."

  • "Only been here for lunch. Calm and quiet and good for biz conversation. Efficient and friendly service."
    dined on 13/03/2014
  • "We always eat here before going to the local theatres. The service is fairly speedy and it is in a convenient place. The pre theatre menu doesn't offer much choice, especially if there's a vegetarian in the party, but the meals are always delicious - if a little on the small side. Meals a la carte are more generous, but obviously, more costly. The standard is generally very high. Would definitely recommend the butterflyed prawn starter...... delicious !"

  • "David and I started with goats cheese for me and king prawns for him. My main course was swordfish and david had Risotto both very good. A nice bottle of Vernaccia white to wash it down. To finish I had choc fondant and ice cream and D had affogato."
    dined on 07/03/2014
  • "Very relaxed atmosphere with excellent service and ambience. Rather let down by the quality of the food. My veal escalope bore a striking resemblance to shoe leather and the ladies reported the duck salad as dry and tough and the swordfish as overcooked.. However the fish soup was outstanding and the wines delicious if a little on the pricey side. Probably worth another try avoiding meat."

  • "Very nice food and good service. Definitely would go back."

  • "What a find! Read reviews about pre-theatre options around Richmond and opted for Bacco's. The service was excellent and welcoming. The restaurant is smallish but this is refreshing after the usual size of most restaurants today. It is how I remember Italian restaurants were when I was little. Charming. The food was beautifully cooked. I had the baked goat's cheese followed by a pasta dish, which had a lovely aubergine and tomato sauce. My husband had calamari and gnocchi, which looked a small dish but proved to be more than ample. Prior to our starters we were provided with olives (room temperature-hurrah!) and mushroom stuffed bread (which was delicious). All this for a reasonable price. Will return when next in Richmond."

  • "I booked this restaurant last minute for my partner's birthday dinner on a Valentine's Day and turned out to be a Valentine for us too with the delicious menu we chose from at the end...Lobster tangliatelle were yummy. We managed to kill two birds with one stone! Thank you"

  • "Six of us (adults) went to celebrate family occasion. Food was delicious. Service was good. Location ideal as opposite Richmond station. It was more expensive than I anticipated, so won't be a regular venue for us. However, definitely worth it for a special occasion."

  • "Every time a winner, despite a large corporate party eating at the same time as us, we still had the same attention to detail and courtesy always offered by the staff. the fayre was impeccable as usual. Quality ingredients, well prepared and presented with flair is always a winner for ne."

  • "Met up with old friends for an informal dinner and chose Bacco based on top table reviews, having not been there before, and it proved an excellent choice. Very close to Richmond station with a good menu, including specials. All the food was very tasty. They happily met my specific request ( no capers) which reassured me the food was made to order. A small niggle was that my starter was not piping hot but was still very enjoyable."

  • "Good selection of authentic Italian foods matched very well with a regional wine list with an excellent range of Italian wines. Portions were a good size to easily allow 3 courses without feeling over indulgent. Recommended."

  • "Excellent food & service. Good atmosphere with nice mix of people dining."

  • "My partner and I had a very nice dinner at this friendly, authentic, yet smart enough Italian restaurant. The owner was personable (but not in any overbearing way) and we could not believe not to have dined here before given both Bacco and us have been here 15 years! Will definitely go back."

  • "I went with a friend to Bacco before going to the theatre right next to the restaurant. We took advantage of their special offer of two courses plus a glass of wine for £25. I did glance at the a la carte menu just to compare but there was almost as much choice on the fixed menu. Service was very courteous and prompt and the food was delicious."

  • "Food at Bacco in Richmond is amazing, real good quality Italian. Service excellent and lovely calm atmosphere on a Friday night."
    dined on 17/01/2014
  • "Restaurant has nice decor and staff were attentive but not hovering. Menu is decent, starters good. But some of us are the swordfish and though it tasted good, it seemed a touch undercooked and some of us suffered the consequences later that evening. I would go back again but would stay away from the fish, or at least make sure it was cooked through."
    dined on 04/01/2014
  • "It's a while since we've been here and in they've got a new chef, who's introduced a new, much shorter, more focused menu. With excellent results! Classic Italian dishes excellently executed. Charming waiting staff, but we asked for coffee to follow quickly after deserts and after a 10-15 min wait we had to prompt them. That was the only failing."
    dined on 13/01/2014
  • "The owner/ host was charming. However, he couldn't save the day ! The service was inadequate owing to too many diners. The food was a great disappointment other than the beef carpaccio and the bean soup. The Sea Bass if not from frozen, was certainly tired, and not from the heat of the kitchen, which must have been the cause of my calves liver being served partly pink until the heat of the stove ran out and allowed a large part of the liver to be served raw and bloody beneath the caramelised exterior. I asked for it to be served pink to medium. The panna cotta was far too wobbly, though the taste was good. An excellent bottle of Merlot from Trentino at £28 couldn't save the day."

  • "It is a nice cozy restaurant with very nice ambience - warm and very welcome setting. The staff are delightful and really helpful. The food was really nice and to the perfect presentation. The set menu was very good value for money. When we asked if we could change the wine on the set menu to dessert (as we were driving) they were happy to acoommodate so we are really impressed. Great location - it is so easy to find as it is just opposite the Richmond Train station. If you are driving, you can either park at the Richmond station car park or NCP car park is just down the road. Highly recommended and will definitely go back again!"

  • "Situated between the Orange Tree and Richmond theatre this Italian restaurant opposite the station has an enviable location. This time we ate on New years eve prior to dancing the night away in the Bingham. The food here always delights, as does the service. Quality ingredients, well prepared and presented with a flair only the Italians have, is always a real treat. Highly recommend you pay a visit."
