Aubaine Mayfair Ratings and Reviews
Good for lunch
Set menu was extremely good value and the staff at Aubaine were able to accommodate timing of food even though one of our party was very late. A good staple.
Brunch at Aubaine
I had brunch here on Saturday with a friend. The food was great! I had an eggs royale and an almond croissant. Their pastries are just beyond amazing! I definitely recommend getting a pastry even if you're there just for eggs or other breakfast items. I didn't give it 5 stars for value because for just two items at breakfast I paid of £20, it needn't be so much regardless of the atmosphere and culinary expertise. The ambience was good however I was expecting a little bit more grandeur, it just looks like a jazzed up cafe. Overall I did really enjoy myself, the food was good and so was the service
Food is good, but the service is terrible.
The attitude of the staff is that they are doing you a favour by serving you. We had e been to this restaurant some 4 or 5 time over the last year or so and every time it is the same, which is a pity as the food is good.
good for lunch time
Food was good, restaurant very busy at lunch time but the staff managed well. very good location
Great location, friendly staff
Great location and ambience. Prices are more than acceptable for this area. The staff were very friendly, however they brought us the wrong order! We were not compensated in any way for this mistake. The food was very tasty - but I would expect it to be decorated more nicely. eg we ordered eggs benedict and eggs royal - we found the way they were served very plain.
Great value with the offer, peculiar service
Great food - slightly odd service with our waiter having not taken our card for payment for some time say loudly "no way!!" And marched off, before telling us how utterly exhausted he was when we finally got chance to pay. Didn't ruin the experience though, nice dinner!
Great value for a weekday lunch
Aubaine had an offer of two courses for £13.95 - the portions aren't huge but perfectly adequate for lunch with good options. Recommend
Nice Place to Meet for Lunch
I met two friends for lunch the other day and Aubaine Mayfair was a nice choice as it was bright and had the type of food we wanted for lunch -- light choices. The only thing that was not quite right was the server trying to push starters, sides and dessert. It almost seemed she was on commission!
We were very happily surprised with the set menu. The options are varied, everything looks tempting. Portions are well served, look beautiful and great taste. service was ok, very professional although quite cold

Great spot - very central and very reasonable with lots of character and charm
specisl offer is misleading
we booked this restaurant because they had a £13.50 for 2 courses offer however it's a bit misleading we ordered steak which had a premium of £2.50 plus sides were another £3.50 so without desert and with a small glass of wine and plus the 12.5% service the bill came to the same as any a la carte menu of there nearby restaurants in Heddon St clever marketing but left feeling ripped off its a shame they feel it's necessary to act like this as the food isn't bad - also unhappy they charged an extra £1.50 when we asked for more bread which frankly was needed to go with the starter - the bread consisted of a little silver bucket with 3 or 4 pretty stale tiny shards of cut up bread and one very melted patty if French butter that squirted out it was almost liquid. Seemed like a money grabbing operation aimed at ripping off tourists.
Great service and fantastic food
I have been to Aubaine many times and it always delivers outstanding service and great quality food. I would highly recommend it.
Poor quality food but good cocktail
I met two friends here for dinner. The atmosphere was lovely with candles lit and great cocktails, however the food was dreadful. I ordered a salmon salad as a starter, which was meant to have a wasabi based dressing. I couldn't taste any dressing and the salmon looked like it came straight out of the package from Tesco and thrown on top of a bed of lettuce. The lamb wasn't much better. Very small pieces and nothing special on the plate.
The prix fixe at lunch was so attractive we both went for it without feeling the need to look at the a la carte. The only downsides were a rather casual attitude on arrival and that our waiter forgot to bring the cocktails and had to be reminded after 10 minutes or so.
Another good Aubaine dinner.
Lovely dinner last night in a lovely quiet table so alm 8 of us could chat easily - without disturbing other diners. Really great service - very attentive and great wine recommendations. The fixed price menu was good value though not all the food was great. Steaks were tasty though one was cold, and the gnocchi was the only vegetarian option and wasn't enjoyed. Overall would go again as a great location and service and the menu changes quite often.
Food was great but let down by service
I'm a food blogger. I took my friend here for her birthday and her announcement of pregnancy. It was a special occasion. I don't normally dine out based on meal offers. However I thought I would try. I was pleasantly surprised as the food we both had were tasty and presented nicely. I like the decor of the restaurant , constant to the other locations. The service was a let down. The restaurant over charged me. At first the waitress tried to argue I was wrong, then reluctantly revised the bill. However, she never apologised for the mistake and was quite rude during the bill payment. Rather disappointed as my special night for my friend ended in very uncomfortable incident for everyone.

When I arrived to the restaurant they had no record of my booking - all very strange given that I had taken a call from the restaurant the previous day who wanted to confirm my booking ! The food was very good ( with the portions perhaps a little small ). The waiting staff were excellent. Good central location in London - ideal for business lunches. The walls could do with a little clean - lots of marks which makes the place a small bit grubby.
Delicious and amazing value
I went here with my friend for my birthday lunch and we had the set menu deal. The food was delicious and the portions very generous, we had a bottle of champagne and the whole meal came to £80 for 2 people. would definitely recommend
No wonder it was empty....!
Despite the fact that we were one of only 3 tables occupied, the lack of attention from the staff and the length of time it took to be served each course was remarkable. When the food did arrive, the wrong dishes were put in front of most of the guests, requiring us to swap with each other, and one order had been taken incorrectly (my guest from SA graciously accepted the wrong meal since he felt it would have taken too long to get it replaced!). The food itself was very below par; overcooked and bland. The moules inside their shells were mostly the size of peas, sitting in 1 cm of watery liquid. I hadn't visited Aubain for some time and I certainly wont do so again. Having since spoken to others of our poor experience, it seems that this opinion is pretty widely felt.
The restaurant is lovely although a bit noisy. The service is excellent. Staff was very attentive. No one rushed you. We both had salads. In both cases they were mediocre. For example, the spinach and goat cheese salad as a main was small and didn't have much goat cheese (a few cubes) and the spinach was wet with virtually no taste. I frequent other Aubaine locations and this didn't meet their standard.

I liked the decor, fresh flowers, high ceilings and mirrors, macarons and champagne on display. Felt very elegant and lavish. The place has good lighting if that kind of stuff matters to you! Service was good, but a little on slow side and food was quite average. On positive, lots of healthy options, good variety on menu, they offer soya milk for coffee and coffee was in fact very good. Food just didn't bowl us over.
A bit disappointing
Went here for a casual birthday lunch on a Sunday. It's a lovely feeling restaurant and felt relatively calm and peaceful despite being so close to Picadilly and Mayfair. However the experience was a bit of a let down unfortunately... It wasn't overly busy and yet the service wasn't all that attentive or friendly. The specials board still had the previous day's specials on it which no one told us initially so I was a little disappointed when I decided to order one of them only to be told it wasn't available. We just had main courses - two quinoa salads one with chicken and one with halloumi, one moule frite and one burger. The salads and the moule frites were good however the 'burger' was actually a fairly mediocre steak sandwich. Not what I expected or wanted so was left pretty disappointed. The chips and 'slaw it came with were nice at least. Not too expensive given the location.
Shocking service, great food, beautiful restaurant
Really delicious food and great menu, but awful service and rude staff.
Friday dinner at Aubaine
Enjoyable evening at Aubaine. First time at this branch but would return as it's well located in Mayfair.
Means well but needs better organization
I know Aubaine in other locations, and this is why we booked it for an easy, no fuss brunch with friends. The place was quite empty- just 4 or 5 tables. We ordered the French breakfast but one of my friends' sausage came undercooked. No big deal. Only it took the rest of the lunch for him to get his plate back, so in the end he had to give up. The food - for those of us who got it- was actually very average. The staff apologized profusely, but in honesty they seemed pretty disorganized, given that the place was half empty I can't find any other excuse.
Empty for a reason
Food was good. Service was really messy and slow. 4 or 5 different people served our table. They tried to deliver something that wasn't for our table twice. Cocktails delivered to the table one by one. The French toast came with 5 blueberries and when we ask if they could bring some more, they charged us without any notice. At the end they forgot the deserts so we had to order them again and it took ages to bring cakes already made. Overall amazing venue with loads of potential but fairly empty for a Sunday Morning then we figured out why.

I arrived for a breakfast meeting at 9 am on a Friday, and was shown to a table at the back of the restaurant. I would say it lacked atmosphere, even for a Friday, and as we were sat in the back room it was pretty hard to catch the eye of a waiter and get anything ordered. I think it took about 10 minutes to be served and a further 10 minutes for my coffee to arrive. Once it had arrived, I quickly made sure I placed our breakfast orders, and unfortunately by the time our eggs Benedict arrived, the hollandaise was cold, leaving the meal to be pretty distasteful. I'd say they need to really up their game on service.. It was too lackluster. I wont be rushing back here.
Took a client for breakfast and was very impressed with the staff and presentation of the food.
Great lunch with my friend...
Thanks for a pleasant lunch experience with my friend. I particularly loved the window table. My seabags was fantastic. The vine was great and the service was friendly. Thanks
Delcious food served in a relaxed atmosphere. The desserts are a feast for the eyes and it"s difficult to choose which to have!
Unfortunately a stinking smelly waiter ruined our entire experience. Each time he came over to remove an item the odor would stay for a few minutes, very annoying. Otherwise the place is nice, food is pretty good and price is decent
Disappointed with service
Had note a gluten free request in reservation which was not noted or acted upon. Had to repeat and no gluten free bread was available.
Nice but a bit cramped
I do like the Aubaine chain, however, I find this branch a little small and cramped with tables extremely close together so you can easily hear next door's conversation and vice versa. The staff are always all very pleasant and there is a good menu for any time of the day. The Lobster spaghetti is very good.
We went a group of 6 people to have brunch. The restaurant wasn't full and still we had to wait for nearly an hour to be served some croque monsieur… and they weren't that good! I was expecting much more.
No atmosphere downstairs
I booked a table for valentines 2015 for 4 of us quite far in advance. When we arrived prompt at 8pm the restaurant was already in full flow. Really buzzy atmosphere. That was until we were shown to our table downstairs. The 4 of us joined the maybe just 2 other couples already eating in the basement. Such a disappointing start. We could've saved ourselves a fortune, ate at home and created more atmosphere than that. Such a shame as the food was ok as was the service. Sadly I wouldn't recommend to a friend or return myself. If you read this and still decide to go refuse to sit in the gallows!
Aubaine doesn't live up to our expectations. Tastless food and staff that couldn't explain the menu. It's to expensive and you don't get satisfied because of the boring menu. It sounds good but lack of salt, pepper and finesse makes our visit a disappointment.
Could be much better..
The service was very poor, we felt ignored and the order was not taken properly, we were missing a couple of things we ordered. However the place is nice and the food was nice too.
Lovely place for lunch
My lunch was perfectly cooked. Lovely wait staffs.
casual restaurant on fashionable Mayfair street
I have eaten at other branches of Aubaine. This did the job for a Saturday lunch in Mayfair with an old friend before I went to Royal Academy exhibition. I would certainly return if in neighbourhood. Quality of food is good. I had the chicken paillard but had to pay extra for a small portion of green vegetables since it only came with a handful of raw roquette. We had tap water and no dessert to keep the bill reasonable. A friendly helpful waitress moved me from a dark table by a pillar to the much more pleasant and daylit back room. Our waiter was efficient and not pushy. Generally recommend it if in the area to shop at Dover St Market down the street or David Zwirner gallery up the street.
Even though you might think it's just a chain, I would reccommend a visit... taking advantage of a special offer, our dinner was a good value! The service was very good and rapid. Food was delicious, my only issue was the (improper) knife for the bavette, not easy to cut the meat.
