Diner Reviews
  • "Good food, good atmosphere, good service. I think i prefer the layout of the Mayfair aubaine but overall, i would of course go back. I went for an evening with a good friend of mine and we both enjoyed our time there."

  • "I had lunch here with a friend during the week. The restaurant was not busy but the service was still poor. When we asked if we could sit outside, the waiter was very unhelpful and told us to have a look for a space ourselves. We then waited 10 minutes for a menu and we had to ask for our drinks twice. The food was fine but I don’t think I will hurry back."

  • "We dined on 11 April. The restaurant was nicely buzzy and I loved the French décor. We waited a long time for 2 Champagne cocktails and a vodka martini. Cocktails were delicious- the vodka martini was cloudy and had bits of olive, it seemed floating in it- didn't like that. My lamb steak was beautifully cooked, my husband's lamb shoulder was rich and sumptuous. My friend's burger however, was chewy. Desserts were the star- we ordered crème brulee, almond macaroon and tarte tartin- all superb. I thought it was a well priced restaurant"

  • "Set menu limited but delicious. Beware no potatoes with mains so have to add side dish which was extra. Coffee expensive £3.50 for an Americano. But lovely setting just off Regent Street. Staff very friendly and helpful. Would come again."

  • "Aubaine has been springing up around town but this was the first one I was introduced to and now I'm back again with the great offer. The choices on the menu were limited and the portions small. My starter consisted of two baby leeks in a vingarette and my main of pork chop was a bit dry. The desserts are always good here so I would say it's a great lunch place especially being just off regents street."

  • "It is the first time I go to a French restaurant and the food is opposite of delicious. The offer on top table was an offer they have in a small menu and there was a choice of only 3 things to order. Not only the food was not tasty, I also had to rush to the toilet with the runs an hour after we left."
    dined on 05/04/2014
  • "I was very satisfied by the food i had that i wet back the next day to have exactly the same dishes again. Their Vinagrette is exceptional; and the port chop with tapenade and brocoli is the best i have ever tried. Service was also impecable. Extremely good value. Great to sit outside of on a sunny day. thank you. I will return."
    dined on 03/04/2014
  • "I booked for 11 people, and probably this is the first time they had so many people. The service was incredibly slow, inattentive, and quite disappointing really. Food is good overall, and it's a great location"
    dined on 14/03/2014
  • "My work colleagues booked this venue for my b-day lunch. Food was excellent, service was brilliant, nice atmosphere, it wasn't to noisy so the 7 of us had a nice and comfortable chat. Music was loud enough to be heard in the background. We will definitely be going back."
    dined on 02/04/2014
  • "I was not blown away by the set menu options so went for a la carte. I had chicken paillard which was nice. My friend had salmon which unfortunately came undercooked. They offered her a free desert to make up for this which was a nice gesture. The service was very good although i think we were served by 4 different waiters!"

  • "Booked a table in the afternoon for dinner with my parents for later that evening, easy booking process, got a nice table in a booth despite late notice booking. Very friendly, polite and efficient service. Waiter(s) level of attention/leaving us to our meal was just right, and went out of their way to help us select the right wine, (importantly allowing us to keep the taster glasses), which was very good and not overpriced. The courses arrived in good time after ordering, with just the right amount of time between courses and with good portion sizes for each."

  • "Had a super meal at Aubaine on Heddon Street. The food was excellent and general ambience lovely. The service was good - the staff were extremely affable and polite although they don't seem to be assigned to particular tables, so it was a little slow getting the attention when we needed it as no one person was looking after us plus it mean we got asked the same question by about 4 people in the space of 10 minutes. A small issue that can easily be fixed though. We ordered a cheese board that never arrived, but I would return and I'd also recommend it to anyone looking for a good venue in the West End."

  • "A nice location, off Regent Street. The Manager was very helpful and I enjoyed the food especially my sea bream"
    dined on 22/03/2014
  • "My wife's chicken Caesar salad was light on dressing but generous with chicken. Our son enjoyed his burger. My sirloin steak was meagre, the chips more so - I bought a sandwich at M&S Victoria for the train journey home."
    dined on 20/03/2014
  • "As usual, friendly greeting with impeccable and professional service. Food is tasty, deserts superb. Can't wait for the warmer weather to enjoy the outdoor seating. Heddon street Aubaine is a little Paradise."

  • "This is the second time we've been to this restaurant. The food is amazing. The service is friendly and personal, yet professional. We have dined form the set menu which has outstanding value for money and we will be returning in the future."

  • "Delicious food, excellent service and brilliant value."
    dined on 14/03/2014
  • "A lovely welcome and dined Alfresco in the buzz of Hendon Street. Service was swift but not over rushed. The pre theatre Food choice was simple but beautifully fresh and well cooked. Nice glass of House red to accompany our choice. It is just a few minutes walk from Paladium Theatre. Additional fresh mixed breads and butter came with the starters. Salmon was exceptional, freshly grilled with fennel and caper butter. It was a light option menu great quality food only down side is probably a little on the small size for a hungry diner. Perfect for pre Theatre though."
    dined on 14/03/2014
  • "Handy location as not far from main Ox circus shops and near to theatres. Had to ask for top table menu but we found the choices good, altho not that big a selection, and good value. The ambiance is nice, as it's cosy & by candlelight. Sometimes it's hard to get the waiters attention, but overall we were happy"
    dined on 13/03/2014
  • "Fairly simple menu (and none the worse for that) well cooked and presented. Great value in W1"
    dined on 12/03/2014
  • "Really enjoyed brunch with a friend. The service was great, attentive and friendly but not over the top. Food came quickly and was really good...calamari was amazing (I know this is not brunch!). The pastries for pudding are presented to you and were amazing. Just what we needed for a break from shopping. Would really recommend."
    dined on 08/03/2014
  • "We really enjoyed our lunch here, the food was tasty and the staff attentive and friendly. The restaurant is just off Regent Street which is perfect for getting away from the hustle and bustle."
    dined on 07/03/2014
  • "We had been at Aubaine Heddon once before (for lunch) and were looking forward to having a dinner there as well. The service was not as good as last time, even if he tried very hard things went out wrong. The food was good. But it was not nice that the staff were tidying up for the night when the restaurant was still open."
    dined on 09/03/2014
  • "A group of three of us ate here the other day with the 2 courses and a glass of wine for £15 deal. The set menu to choose from had thee choices for each course which isn't a huge choice yet because they were crowd pleasers no one had any complaints. When the food came I was very impressed much better than other small chains like cote or strada. The service was attentive and friendly and the atmosphere very good despite it not being full. The location is also fantastic making it a perfect place for lunch when shopping in the west end."
    dined on 26/02/2014
  • "I went as a group of 4 to have the £15 set menu. On offer were 2 starters (one had been finished and there was no replacement) and 3 mains. The choice was poor and not wanted by myself or my party. We therefore selected from the main menu, again not a huge choice. The portions were small and overpriced, albeit cooked well. One of my party had a cheese sandwich when they returned home. This was not value for money and to leave, having paid a lot of money and still not feeling full, did not lend itself to a good evening out. I would not recommend this restaurant."
    dined on 15/02/2014
  • "The food was given to us on time, the staff were amazing and very friendly. It would definitely be the best place to eat before going on a wild night out! Thank you aubaine we had a great time!"
    dined on 08/02/2014
  • "We had the £15 for 2 courses and glass of wine offer. Surprised that this was an offer for world and his wife! No need for Toptable membership. Second visit here Same offer last time Previouslly we had grvalax first course and beautiful steak second course Restricted menu of course but this time too restricted We had salad starter and chicken stew mains Tasty but not very inspiring and portions quite small Staff excellent"
    dined on 08/02/2014
  • "The two course valu menu we'd booked for was so weak upon review in the restaurant that who selected from the normal menu. This increased the cost dramatically, however the food and cocktails were very enjoyable"
    dined on 07/02/2014
  • "We had a lovely meal here before we saw a show, very nice would go again"
    dined on 25/01/2014
  • "Nice place for a night out, people are friendly and there is a nice atmosphere in the restaurant. Food is good, bread very good compared to London standards (very poor) and dishes are not too big but enough for a nice meal."
    dined on 25/01/2014
  • "We booked a set two course meal with wine for £15. This was great value - there were two starters and two main meals. The soup started was excellent as was the shrimp starter. There was a fish and a pork dish - both plentiful though we decided to order a side of chios and mash. The service was friendly and attentive. Most enjoyable time at this restaurant"
    dined on 24/01/2014
  • "Great ambience, location was perfect and the food was fantastic. Definitely will come back again"
    dined on 24/01/2014
  • "I went for dinner before going to the theatre using the pre-theatre deal on Top Table. The mackerel I ordered was cold and so undercooked that I had to send it back. Even when it came out the second time it wasn't cooked enough to separate the skin on one of the fillets. My partner had the pork belly which was also undercooked do the skin was soft, not at all resembling crackling and fat through the meat was like jelly. It's a wonder we didn't get food poisoning really. Avoid."
    dined on 23/01/2014
  • "I had previously been to Aubaine and had a lovely dinner so when I saw the toptable offer for 2 courses for £12 I jumped at opportunity. However this experience was nothing like the first, the manager was stand off'ish and seemed very arrogant. We asked for tap water and received half a glass full with no refills throughout dinner. The set menu had 2 options and not great ones. We ordered off the a la carte and there were quite a few 'French'/ 'posh' food descriptions which I asked the manager about who replied but with an attitude. I ordered the cod with vegetable and sausage. The cod was nice but it sat on a watery tasteless soup with undercooked vegetables. For 2 of us it was nearly £50 for a below average meal and poor service!"
    dined on 13/01/2014
  • "I went to Aubaine for Sunday Brunch with a couple of friends. We all really enjoyed the food, though the service was a little slow (my friend waited about 15 minutes for a Latte) and drinks especially were quite expensive. They do a lovely 'full French' breakfast for £12, which my friends were quite happy with, though we did go elsewhere for tea afterwards as it was about £4 for a pot. The atmosphere was great and it was nice to find somewhere central for brunch that's a little hidden. We didn't feel rushed at all, so I'd recommend Aubaine for a leisurely brunch."
    dined on 12/01/2014
  • "I love the atmosphere of the brasserie! The service is always good and the croque monsieur is absolutely fantastic! Plus it is a place you can also come with kids so it is very versatile."
    dined on 11/01/2014
  • "This deal (2 course lunch for £12) was very good. Food was just enough, although the selection of deserts tempted me to go for a Nutella eclair too."
    dined on 09/01/2014
  • "We chose the 2 course £12 menu from which we selected the duck with savoy cabbage which was both a generous portion and freshly cooked (a little sauce would and it would have been perfect !). Desert was a 'tasting selection' of their in-house pastries and meringues. An enjoyable lunch which was great value."
    dined on 08/01/2014
  • "We both enjoyed our meal at Aubaine. Friendly service and good food, the perfect combination."
    dined on 07/01/2014
  • "Slightly disappointed in the toptable menu offered resulting in all of our group ordering from the full price menu. Food was good if a little over priced. Considering how busy the restaurant was the service was very good. Overall I'd say this is a pretty good place to recharge after you've had your fill of the bond street shopping scene."
