Aqua - Croydon Ratings and Reviews
I booked this for my son and his girlfriend and they had a fab time and confirmed they will definitely go again!!
Great little gem!
Went there for a late lunch with a friend. Food was excellent and service infallible.
Had a fantastic meal here with friends. Food was outstanding, service was five star too. Good atmosphere too. Highly recommend :)
We have been here a few times and absolutely loved it. The Monday evening deal with 50% off all steaks is such good value and no compromise on the quality of the food. The service is fantastic and this is fast becoming one of my favourite restaurants of all time.
Birthday Meal Treat
My partner took me here as a treat for my birthday and I had some veal, while my partner had some spaghetti with king prawns. We both thoroughly enjoyed our food, good wine and the staff were also very friendly and helpful! All round thumbs up, would definitely come back!!
Pre Theatre dinner at Aqua
Arrived on time were seated and given the menus, as we were not having starters the mains did take about 25 minutes but to be honest we were all talking so there was no bother with waiting, the food was really good and the service pretty much the same. We would return Thanks you Aqua!

Reliable local restaurant
Aqua in Croydon is a good reliable local restaurant .
Service, food and vegetarian choices were very good. The food was well presented. Tasted excellent
Excellent food and Great value!!
Had. Wonderful time with 7 friends. Food was out of this world and the portions were amazing. Staff were very attentive and amusing, atmosphere was cool. A little put out about the £2 per person based on the fact that we booked online thru open table , I was not aware of this ( maybe I didn't read small print) but it's Not openly visible. We were £14 down before we even started to eat 😞. Apart from that we had fun and even took doggy bags home, will def go again but WONT book online

Good food at a fair price. Being the only party on a Monday lunchtime the service was second to none. I would return again.
It's a nice place for a casual meal
the food is pretty good, the service is haphazard (don't expect silver service) but it's good value for money, friendly and has a good range of choice on the menu (food and drink)
Fabulous every time
Aqua never fails to please. I usually have the duck salad to start and then the lamb with creamy mash which is lovely. The staff are always friendly and super attentive. The cocktails are pretty good too. If you are looking for a decent meal at a decent price aqua is ideal. The only thing I can say is that if you have a taste card, when booking, be sure to mention it and not on arrival!
Eaten at Aqua on many occasions now and they never disappoint. The service is always top notch and the food is the cream of the crop! Highly Recommend

I read good reviews on line and was not disappointed. It was a birthday celebration. The welcome was very friendly and the food was excellent. There was no rush and the staff were helpful and pleasant without being obsequious. I had a starter of Cornish crab and a main of stiffardo. Last time I had that was in Rhodes this summer and Aqua's was better! My daughter is vegetarian and there was a great choice for her. We all enjoyed our meals and would definitely return. Thank you Aqua. 5 stars.
Another great experience
Second time here & just as good as the first - good food & good atmosphere
Absolutely Worth It!
A great menu with so many options. Making a decision was a real headache as everything looks good. Portions are generous and top quality. Good value, great service and just a good all round place to go for a meal.
Wonderful food and service!
This was my first time to Aqua Croydon and I am say that it will not be our last!! The food that was provided was wonderful, full of flavour and some really delicious dishes so it was difficult to choose! I had the Oven baked Goats cheese with aubergine to start with and although there was a problem with it, they swiftly pulled it away and cooked another one , I know this took a while whilst the rest of my party of four were finishing their starters, but it didn't matter some how. My daughter who has been several time suggested I try the Code supreme, wow I can say what a great choice!! Delicious. I will defo return and if you can use your taste card for this midweek it saves a lot :) Thank you all at Aqua!
I have eaten at Aqua several times and have always really enjoyed it. However, it was really disappointing on this occasion. The starters were good but of the 8 of us that went for dinner, no-one liked their main. The meat was completely over-cooked and even though my sister sent hers back, it came back out overcooked again. Unfortunately, the mains were just really poor quality, lacked flavour, and were poorly cooked which ruined the evening for us.

Really great quality food, we shared a platter and the variety of tastes was wonderful. Would definitely recommend. However the service let it down a lot. The table for 2 was very small and once food and drinks were on there it was cramped, not much space between tables either. The waiting staff didn't seem to notice to clear glasses/plates when finished.

I have been before and had a lovely evening. I don't know if they were short staffed but on Friday the service wasn't very good. The starter was lovely but we asked for rare stake but it came out well done. Because of the service we didn't say anything. The staff were friendly enough but the atmosphere wasn't there. I will probably be give it another try but unfortunately I have heard others say exactly the same.
I booked this restaurant for my boyfriends birthday after days of deciding where to go, and I'm so glad I did! Everything from the service and the atmosphere to the food was perfect. The portions were generous and beautifully presented. I had the beef stifafo which just fell apart, and my boyfriend had the mixed grill which in his words "was cooked perfectly". He's a very fussy eater so I was glad to see him clear the plate! If you still have room for desert, try the warm chocolate brownie served with vanilla ice cream and berries, it's to die for. We will definitely be coming back to Aqua soon, many thanks for a wonderful evening!
A special occasion
As usual a very warm welcome was had and the very friendly waiter (owner?) attended to our every need. My lovely, beautiful and charming co-diner Carla and I decided to opt for two starters to share with each other. Garlic prawns in a fantastic buttery garlic sauce and a platter of seafood including: giant mussels, prawns, delicious crispy whitebait and calamari served with tartare sauce. All so good. My friend opted for a magnificent fillet steak on a bed of creamy mash with wilted spinach whilst I ordered the braised lamb with roasted aubergines and dauphinois potatoes. The sauce it was served in was to die for. Absolutely delicious. Although both fairly stuffed after courses 1&2 we couldn't resist dessert so my lovely lady friend opted for warmed chocolate brownie and ice cream with fruit compote while I had a lovely choc pot mousse dessert. A gorgeous and sumptuous way to end the meal. All washed down with a fruity red wine which went down well with my friend, the attentive male server (owner?) even gave us a complimentary bottle of the same wine as we left. A very generous touch. Highly recommended evening out in South Croydon once again. J
always good, calves liver was fantastic!! Thanks for another great meal.
Excellent, will go back soon.
Nicely spaced tables, open kitchen at the end of the space, so you can see what's going on. The food was very good indeed. Everything that was on the Cypriot mixed meze was perfect - the keftedes and stuffed vine leaves were the best I've eaten in a long time. (Warning - Cypriot vine leaves are stuffed with a MEAT and rice mix, not just rice.) Absolutely gorgeous lamb in the extreme;y generous mixed grill, so tender it pulled off the bone. Perfect amount of char too. The veal was excellent, and the lamb rump was, again, so tender. Brilliant cooking all round.
South Croydon is for epicures, Aqua is not!
Just had the most underwhelming dining out experience of my life at Aqua. Both my wife and I are of the same opinion. To salty; starter and main suffering from a complete flavour bi-pass. The Rib-Eye was stone cold and a particularly poor specimen the veal tasteless. Even the tomato was so over cooked all that remained was a plastic-like skin. The steak knives were unfit for purpose meaning that we had to fight with our food; never a fun way to spend ones time at a romantic dinner (our anniversary)! There are so many better places where one can dine out here in Croydon, wish we had spent tonight at any one of them! Very, very disappointed!
Great service and decor but not amazing food
The look of this restaurant and the good reviews I read promoted me to try Aqua out. The menu all looked good and the prices were also pretty agreeable. The service was excellent and all the staff are friendly and attentive. The food was OK but we were not blown away. It was a tiny bit bland but the portion size was huge. To be fair to the restaurant actually took home the food we didn't finish and it tested better the next day so we might have just been having an off day. The atmosphere there is great so we would go back.
Monday 50% Steak offer
Went on a Monday to take advantage of the 50% Steak offer, and the Rib Eye was very good. Just surprised that 12.5% service was added to the bill before the 50% was taken off, usually only expect to pay service on the final amount to pay.
Rather disappointing meal
Prawn starter was rather bland, could not taste chilly at all and just swimming in garlic and oil. For £8 I expected king prawns and these were not. Main dish of sea bass was marginally better but nothing special. The dessert menu is rather limited for choice. My Mohito cocktail was good though. My sister's duck starter was overcooked (dried out) which was also disappointing. A rather disappointing birthday evening meal.

Dine here regularly, always had a great meal, good selection, great service, thank you!!
A quality dining experience in South Croydon
A very warm welcome from the cheery young female servers who soon showed us to our seats. Only my second visit in 7 years but well worth the wait. Last time I opted for the pork belly which I still remember and talk about to this day! I think that really left an impression is was that delicious! On this special occasion (mother's birthday) we check out the delicious choice of starters. I opted for the gorgeous Mediterranean garlicky butter king prawns and my friend Paul had the fantastic and generously portioned calamari served with a generous amount of tartare sauce which he kindly let my mum and me try! Mum skipped the starter perhaps saving herself for the gorgeous and tender sirloin steak on offer. Cooked to perfection it arrived with a portion of neatly arranged giant chunky chips. I was in a meaty mood so I opted for the mixed grill including steak (so gorgeous and tender) and two amazing lamb cutlets (the same), as well as a chicken kebab and Greek style sausage, also served with chunky chips and with a lovely meaty jus. Paul had a most delicious chicken and tagliatellii pasta. To die for. Loved the fresh finely sliced green peppers which were mixed into his pasta and gave the whole thing a certain freshness as well as added crunch. Highly recommended. Very reasonably priced too, they even gave us extra fresh bread free of charge to mop up the deliciousness left of our plates. All so gorgeous. Would go there again in an instant! Highly recommended.
A great night out with friends on Saturday
Met up with some friends and had a fab time. Food was gorgeous, I had the tiger prawns followed by the lamb rump and the sticky toffee pudding - yummy. The restaurant was very busy but the service did not suffer because of this. I wish other restaurants had the same customer approach as Aqua. The food we had you could compare with any London restaurant and the price paid I feel was extremely fair - this is fast becoming one of my favourite places to eat in South Croydon. Thank you to all the staff and of course the chef for a great foodie experience!
Food nothing spectacular
Booked for family birthday meal for 4 in the evening. We decide to start with a cocktail - 2 of 4 arrived then 3rd then 4th each with a fair delay - birthday boy got his last, well after everyone else. Universally the cocktails were extremely sweet. 2 of our party opted for meze meal. The meze starter part arrived in waves, as expected, but the quality and cooking left much to be desired - taramasalata tasted exactly like thousand island dressing, squid was thick and very rubbery, everything very underseasoned (or rather not seasoned at all). We had different souvlaki for mains. Chicken and lamb seemed ok, but pork was fatty and rubbery, and the mounds of rice were between tepid and cold. Service was good and unobtrusive. There were very few people dining, so not much atmosphere. Not likely to make a return visit with many better Mediterranean restaurants in the area.
Love Love Love Aqua. From romantic meal, Mothering Sunday, daughters 21st party - Aqua has always provided us with Delicious Food, Amazing Service, wide variety of Cocktails/drinks. Quite simply we are made to feel at home and the bill is great value as well!
Fantastic food, great value set menu.
I took my parents out for lunch. Two of us ate from the set menu and one from the a la carte menu. The food from both menus was outstanding, and great value for money especially from the set menu where you can have two courses for £12.00 or three courses for £15.00. We were all served with generous portions, the food was hot, and very tasty. The only thing that could be improved would be the speed of the service, which was quite slow. There was only one waiter on, they probably weren't expecting it to be particularly busy on a weekday lunchtime but by the time we left there were well over 20 diners there - on the plus side that number of people just goes to show how good the food is...
Good value, good quality, nice decor
My friends and I wanted a reasonably priced lunch but a notch up from a pub lunch. Aqua was perfect. The set two course lunch for £12 was good value. Most of had the rump steak, which was delicious. Only one meal that slightly disappointed - one friend had the salmon and found it was swimming in too much butter. Overall, however, we were extremely pleased and will definitely come back. Décor stylish and comfortable.

Went with another couple. We shared a starter which was nice. Mains was lovely no problems will go again. Fantastic service.
Fantastic restaurant. The best steaks in Croydon by a country mile.
Excellent evening with atmosphere
the restaurant has a great atmosphere, and even on a busy Valentines night it was still a great experience. Service is always friendly and welcoming and every effort is made to make the entire experience as good as possible. As always plenty of quality well prepared food on your plate
Excellent Valentines Meal
Aqua's £45 per person set menu was great value for money. It's the first time in years that we've eaten out on Valentine's Day as we finally found a restaurant with a good balance of options for starters, mains & desserts & not charging the earth. All of the food was delicious & cooked to perfection. The added touch of a red box with Ferrero Rocher puy on each table was really lovely. I am registered disabled but the staff went out of their way to accommodate me which was a very good plus point for me. This was our first visit to Aqua & as the food was so good on a set menu, we shall most definitely be going back to dine off their à la carte menu. Both my partner & I would highly recommend Aqua.
