Diner Reviews
  • "The staff were warm and welcoming, and the 3 course deal menu was great value but also good quality. I can't wait to go back, but next time I will be going to the gin bar underneath."

  • "Delicious, authentic Italian food, excellent service, great atmosphere and price tags lower than the much less delciious chain restaurants - we'd go back in a heartbeat!"

  • "We came to Antico restaurant with high expectations after reading some great reviews. However, our experience wasn't that great. We arrived around 5:45pm on Saturday and although the restaurant was empty when we asked to be moved to another table we were told that this wasn't possible, very disappointing as we had to have dinner next to a column. The food was ok but not great. We had pork tortelloni as starter which were very good, but mains were rather disappointed as the monkfish was too watery. Desserts were poor, especially the poached pears that lacked of flavour. Overall, I would say that for the money we paid you can eat much better anywhere else in London."

  • "After getting off to a bad start when we arrived to find our reservation had been cancelled in error, we were seated at the bar for a mere 10 minutes and provided with a complimentary bottle of wine while a different table was arranged. The atmosphere at Antico is on the right side of buzzy, not too loud. The service is excellent - the waitress from South Shields is especially attentive and friendly - and the food is divine. Really inventive dishes - the shin-of-beef ragu is particularly good. Lemon tart at the end hit the spot. All that with 25% off through the TopTable reservation. We will definitely be back."

  • "Dined in a group of four early on a Saturday evening. The service was poor compared with earlier visits. No one took our coats but they had the cheek to tell us to move them out of the way. They forgot to take our 25% off which led to embarrassment on paying as I was treating the others and didn't want to bring cost to fellow diners' attention. Disappointment."

  • "The food was unbelievable. The beef ragu....we ordered another to share it was so good. Bellisimo!!!"

  • "Antico is a very cosy restaurant just at the beginning of Bermondsey street. We have eaten here a few times before and really like the food, ambience and service. With the TT deal it is good value."

  • "I went to Antico with 3 friends on Saturday night. My 2nd time at the restaurant. The staff greeted us with smiles & promptly showed us to our table. The service throughout the evening was excellent -friendly, attentive and unobtrusive. Our waitress was able to give recommendations & answer any questions about the menu - including the Gin bar downstairs (they make their own tonic waters to go with the Gin). The food: amazing - antipasti platter to share - included rabbit terraine, olives, cured meats. Our main courses - varied from grey mullet with asparagus, risotto, beef & pork pasta dishes. The portions are just right- enough to satisfy but still room for desert. Try the espresso ice cream & the lemon torte -yum. A gem of a restaurant."

  • "I ate with four friends at Antico and was really impressed. The staff were accommodating and welcoming from the minute I arrived. The pasta with wild boar ragu was delicious, not to mention the nutty chocolate cake with mascarpone. Lovely atmosphere too - very relaxed, lots of space for prams etc. We had a top table deal, which they honoured despite our late ordering, and ended up paying only £25 a head for (home-made?) spongy focaccia & bright green buttery olives, the amazing ragu pasta, chocolate cake (shared b/w two) and wine. Would really recommend this place for good value excellent quality Italian food and service."

  • "We went for Sunday lunch on a TT offer, and both the starters and the mains were excellent. Service is relaxed and informal but attentive. This was my second time dining at Antico, which is very good value with the TT offer."

  • "Consistently high standard of food and wine. Lobster salad is highly recommended. Always great ambience and service."
    dined on 26/03/2014
  • "My friend and I had a delicious meal. I can particularly recommend the pears in red wine with marscapone which was amazing and nearly too big for two sharing! Because we booked through toptable and ordered before 7pm we got a discount of 25% on the whole meal, including wine. Our waiter was attentive and funny. I'll definitely go again."

  • "This is probably our favourite restaurant in London. The food is always fresh and beautifully prepared and the service is always excellent. We've recently discovered their early set menu which is excellent value and always has items you actually want to order on it! We'll be back for another beautiful meal soon..."

  • "Friendly, unstuffy service, unpretentious food, and an excellent value set lunch and early dinner menu makes Antico a great neighbourhood restaurant"

  • "Exceptionally tasty food and friendly and helpful staff. Could be slightly spacier as tables are very close to one another, but overall very good!"

  • "We were a party of five for Sunday lunch with two over an hour late! The restaurant staff were brilliant and super efficient. We were all impressed. The food and wine were also well up to muster and the portions very good. A faultless and very memorable lunch. Many thanks."

  • "Exposed brickwork creates a nice atmosphere. We had a round table, which was ideal for a group of six. Service was attentive, prompt, knowledgeable and delivered with a smile. The food seemed very fresh and nicely seasoned. While the sage was not very prominent in the slow-roasted pork tortellini, the dish delivered a strong taste, as did the monkfish risotto, despite extremely mild chilli. No complaints either about the salmon, which was much more substantial than it appeared. Lovely desserts, as you would expect from an Italian restaurant - crema di mascarpone with poached pears in red wine was a revelation. The only slight minus was a two-hour limit for early diners, but Bermondsey Street has lots of follow-up options."

  • "This place never fails fantastic food wonderful service, you could not ask for more, brings a little piece of Italy to bermondsey"

  • "Another successful trip to Antico who never fail to disapoint. My only point of note is that I wished they changed the early bird set menu more often. I was last there in November and being a rather fussy eater (chicken/lamb/beef only) had the beef ragu again. I have to say though that this dish is amazing and I am fine having the same dish on two occasions, but would have preferred an alternative."

  • "We live in the area and have been several times for dinner and taken serval out of town guest here. Each time we've never been disappointed with anything. The food is fresh and really tasty. The service is also great everyone has always been friendly and helpful. Would also recommend the gin bar downstairs! Overall I think one of the best restaurants on Bermondsey street if not the best!"

  • "I haven't been to Antico for well over a year, but it's good to see nothing's changed. The food as always is delicious. I had the monkfish risotto and finished with the peacan tart with espresso gelato. Both delicious! But what I like most about Antico is the service. The staff are attentive, but in a very relaxed way. The restaurant was full for a Wednesday evening and the atmosphere was buzzing, but not so noisy we couldn't hear ourselves speak. We didn't try the gin bar downstairs, but that was busy too, so will definitely pay it a visit next time!"

  • "Had a very relaxed evening, staff and food were very good. Would recommend"

  • "I was impressed with the menu and freshness of the food. being as i am gluten intolerant it is very easy to tell when a restaurant makes things fresh as I need most dishes adjusted and this place didn't miss a beat. fabulous salads with seafood and wonderful mains - we had the sea bream, risotto and ravioli - and all of the diners were happy with their meal. the gin bar downstairs is also a must for a pre or post meal drink. service was great as well, very competent and friendly."
    dined on 18/02/2014
  • "I have been a regular visitor since Antico opened, over 2 years ago. During that time, I can honestly say that I haven't had anything other than a positive experience. The food, content & presentation, is excellent. The service attentive but not intrusive. It is always a great pleasure to visit."
    dined on 18/02/2014
  • "Fantastic bar downstairs, great succinct menu with appetizing specials. I would definitely come again."

  • "Very lovely restaurant with good food and a great ambience. Cocktail bar downstairs is great for a drink before your meal."
    dined on 14/02/2014
  • "This is a fabulous find, a nice ambience and the food was very good. My only improvements would be to add a few more options to the menu as it is fairly limited but the daily special is always delicious. It can get a little noisy when it's busy so a business meeting at busy times is a no go but the staff are wonderful and the service is very good. Also, when you have finished your meal, pop downstairs to the Gin and Cocktail Bar, it has a great feel about it, good background music and is great for a romantic drink, with over 200 types of Gin and countless cocktails, good wine and beer, it's a bit of a find for a great night out!"

  • "Went on the toptable deal of 25% discount off food and thought it was exceedingly good value for the portion and quality of food, particularly on a street that seems rather overpriced in general! Would go again (and in fact, have booked to go again with a group of friends)"
    dined on 11/02/2014
  • "Food and service always superb, we love coming here. Excellent value in smart and relaxed surroundings."
    dined on 09/02/2014
  • "I returned to Antico with a group of five friends for dinner on Saturday night. The wine was fantastic and reasonably priced. The food was once again amazing - the octopus salad was delicious, the starter of scallops got a big thumbs up. For mains, two pasta dishes stood out: the shin of beef fazzoletti and the pork shoulder tortelloni. This time we all loved our desserts - decadent chocolate cake and pecan tart. The service was good and the bill was reasonable for the quality of the food. We loved it and I will return."

  • "Antico is one of my main go-tos in the neighbourhood. Its pretty reliable for great service and good food. My only note would be that they could do with a couple more vegetarian mains on the menu."
    dined on 05/02/2014
  • "Went with a group of friends and had a great time. Cant fault the place in anyway. Highly recommended."
    dined on 30/01/2014
  • "Maybe just bad luck but the pasta was way too thick in both the pasta dishes we had. Also, atmosphere was great until the place filled up, at which point it was very difficult to hear each other across the table as the sound bounces around the room alot. A valiant effort at a nice little Italian, but a bit of room for improvement."
    dined on 29/01/2014
  • "My partner and I celebrated my birthday here. The food was very good, I had an excellent monk fish risotto and my partner had a very tasty lamb main. But it was a little pricier than I expected, even with 25% off the total bill it came to £70 for two courses for two people with a bottle of wine. The gin bar downstairs is a must! Amazing selection of gins, cocktails and a really fun twist on a G&T, I recommend the 'Tour of London' ."
    dined on 26/01/2014
  • "We took advantage of the set Menu, great selection and beautifully presented and cooked. Service was great everybody was very friendly, will defiantly be going back and would recommend."
    dined on 24/01/2014
  • "We really enjoyed a great lunch at Antico. The staff were friendly and welcoming and knowledgeable about the food and the surroundings were fresh and modern, and you can see the food being prepared in the kitchen through a large window. It was delicious; I had the lobster salad which was excellent and then the pork tortellini with a clear and tasty broth. The cheese to follow was generous and fresh with a lovely chilli jam. When some of my family popped in to say hi the staff were kind enough to seat them by us pulling over a table and made them welcome. I would thoroughly recommend this delightful friendly restaurant."

  • "I have been to this restaurant serval times and never had a disappointing meal. I'm not a huge fan of pasta, but this place makes some amazing dishes. The service is good, the layout is nice and there is also a great gin bar downstairs to grab a drink beforehand."
