Angelus RestaurantA bit of France in LondonAlmost started peaking in French it was so authentic. Very extensive wine list as well as some interesting menu choices. Perhaps a little on the pricey side, but far better than eating in a Hotel. A very enjoyable meal.29/04/2013 00:00:00Unhurried French perfectionDinner with my son on a Friday evening. Fairly busy but no problem booking a few days ahead. A varied menu with some unusual and interesting touches, but not too extensive (always a good thing, too large a menu and nothing is done properly). Everything clearly very fresh (as evidenced by the scallop ceviche), perfectly prepared and excellent service. For main course I had monkfish, my son the guinea fowl. Not cheap as you expect, but worth every penny. Very extensive wine list, but enough to choose from at a (relatively) reasonable price. Impeccable service. Only the second time I have been here, but would definitely go again. Highly recommended.26/04/2013 00:00:00lunchtime at the angelusthis is very convenient if you are meeting someone from paddington station. a pretty, converted pub; the set lunch at £20/25 is the obvious answer as the a la carte menu is for business expense accounts only. the service from the maitre d' was excellent; we had a very comfortable corner table with plenty of room. only 2 quibbles- my pastry on the vegetarian main course was so hard that i was unable to cut it- the result being that part of it shot across my shirt and the seat...so i gave up with it; and as has been stated before, the choice of wine by the glass is limited to 1 wine only. the coteaux de languedoc that i had was rustic and prefectly adequate but at £22 for 50cl, no bargain. There are very few reasonably priced wines.18/04/2013 00:00:00Very GoodVery attentive service. Tasty and reasonably priced food. There is also an extensive wine list but it is a bit on the pricey side.31/03/2013 00:00:00A rich French experience in London!Angelus was simply lovely. My fiancé and I enjoyed the warm welcome and beautifully adorned waiting lounge area where we had a drink and waited for our friends to arrive. The restaurant is rich with French decor and has a mind-boggling array of empty bottles of priceless labels on the lounge shelf (e.g. 1983 Petrus magnum - worth around £17k at the time of it's drinking). The owner Thierry is a charming and attentive host who has a phenomenal knowledge of wines. The foie gras creme brûlée starter I had was indescribably tasty and a very sizeable portion. The main course of pork belly was also generously sized (especially for a French restaurant) and simply delicious. Overall our meal experience was delightful. We will absolutely be back!14/03/2013 00:00:00A great dinner at AngelusThe dinner was a lovely evening. The rhubarb dessert deserves extra special praise - divine.
THe Maitre d' was charming and helpful. Highly recommended04/03/2013 00:00:00Lovely Sunday lunchExcellent meal. The Sunday lunch was delicous and good value for the quality. Wines a bit more expensive but very good. Lovely staff and nice relaxed atmosphere. Great location near to our hotel and to hyde park. Would visit again if in the area. Not toovar from paddington too03/03/2013 00:00:00Weekday lunch...Great set lunch, fabulous value for around £25. Ham hock terrine appetisers, fish filet a la meurette style with a poached egg. Lovely. A generous portion of wonderful ice creams - in contrast to a tiny pannacotta that was a little too well set.
Well chosen carafe of young fruity Rhone for £13. Superb service.28/02/2013 00:00:00Sensational food! It's a little on the pricey side, and it is a quiet intimate restaurant (so not for everyone), but the food is sensational! The wine list is extensive and excellent, but also very pricey. We really enjoyed ourselves, it's just more of a special occasion restaurant than one you will visit regularly.10/02/2013 00:00:00Lovely for a treatMy Husband and I treated ourselves to a meal at Angelus for a special treat, during a short break in London. We picked the restaurant based on previous reviews, but also because it was a short walk from our hotel. We had a superb evening - delicous food, very attentive staff and a relaxed ambience. The restaurant wasn't full, but I guess it might feel quite crowded if it was. We could of course have eaten cheaper elsewhere, but the food combined with the overall atmosphere mean that we feel it was worth it for a special occasion. Would certainly consider going back if we are in this part of London again.09/02/2013 00:00:00delicious dinnerWe had an outstanding evening on Friday at Angelus. The food was quite superb and the service delightful: not over-fussy, but attentive and fun. It was our daughter's 21st and they could not have been kinder and more eager to make our evening a success. It is not cheap, but you certainly get what you pay for!08/02/2013 00:00:00Wonderful service!A great lunch here with fantastic service by the very charistmatic owner, highly recommend!08/02/2013 00:00:00Close to Paddington station,Close to Paddington station, this was a fantastic restaurant. Attentive, stylish and very professional. Great menu and high quality of food. Not cheap, but you get what you paid for - quality here29/01/2013 16:00:00Wonderfully FrenchAngels restaurant, wonderful food, typical Parisian charm nestled away off Hyde park. This is becoming a firm favourite of mine as the menu is thoughtfully prepared brave in its composition and certainly works.28/01/2013 16:00:00SuperbAnother superb evening. If you are seeking thoughtful French cuisine and attentive service you can do no better in London.23/01/2013 16:00:00To be honest it was just aroundTo be honest it was just around the corner from our hotel. However it was one of the best dining experience we have ever had. It was that good that I would be prepared to drive the 85 miles each way.09/01/2013 16:00:00Great food and service inGreat food and service in an intimate atmosphere. The duck liver brulee is a fantastic starter course! My wife and I were on a short holiday visit to London and remembered Angelus from a similar visit about two years ago. Our fond memories of that last visit were confirmed. Highly recommend this restaurant!04/01/2013 16:00:00We had our wedding lunch hereWe had our wedding lunch here and returned for our anniversary. Great service, beautiful romantic cosy restaurant, delish food and great wine.. A wonderful evening out.. We hope to return every year18/12/2012 16:00:00Terrific Chefs tableWent to Angelus for my anniversary having always wanted to try a Chef's table. We were not disappointed one bit. A fantastic experience and the whole staff could not have been any nicer and more welcoming. The food was fantastic and they made special allowances for our personal preferences. Table could have sat 6 but I honestly thought this is better suited to a 2 or 4some. Would definitely return again and recommend.06/10/2012 00:00:00Angelus, in Paddington, providesAngelus, in Paddington, provides a mean breakfast. The eggs Benedict were a treat, with tangy, rich Hollandaise sauce and very tasty ham - although the restaurant does not offer much information around meat provenance or animal welfare. Homemade bread was rich and served with one of the best apricot jams I have ever sampled. Brunch ended with an unexpected sweet platter.
